Outdated Unix tools
Shitty 3rd party package manager
No way to configure almost anything about the UI

It was fine. I liked the trackpad gestures and that they worked correctly every time. I liked the update system. I liked the polishedness of it all.

I disliked Finder, however. It's super slow when working with samba shares and generally just sucks as a file manager. I disliked that almost every peace of software costs money. I wanted to like the unix command line but didn't really, Linux does this better. Also can't beat the Linux package managers.

I sold my macbook while I could still get good money for it, it was an okay two-year try period but I guess I like Linux and Windows better.

Lol what the fuck. Some unsupported piece of garbage, right? There's no decent WM alternatives for MacOS. And you definitely can't trigger hover or click events on windows, you have to click them active before anything happens. That's a major PITA.

Valgrind is the most obvious piece of software that's wholly missing on MacOS, but there's more. And on most stuff you have to rely on outdated bianaries, unlike Linux

I got tricked into buying a mac in 2007ish because of the idea that they're better for graphic design, since then I just have continued to buy 3rd party macs for shit cheap. DESU osx/macos is pretty tight for the sole reason that it's the easiest way to have unix + industry standard creative software like after effects and ableton. Other than that there is zero redeemable qualities to the os.

The thing that pisses me off most about my path is that I'm not qualified for any IT related jobs even though I know osx inside and out and am pretty fluent with bash, just because I've spent the past 12 years on osx/linux w/ no windows experience

Ironic, considering you accused me of being a pajeet for asking you to clarify obviously erroneous statements you made.

I'm talking about having two browser windows side by side, or a video player being on top of a browser. When you hover over a 4chan reply for instance, nothing happens on a Mac if the window doesn't have focus. That makes it impossible to watch a video and read a reply you get without activating the browser window and covering the video player. That's just a simple example of how the piece of shit WM on MacOS constantly keeps getting in the way. You're learned to tolerate it because you never knew better, but don't think others are as happy with sub-standard usability.

It’s gotta be software related too, since running Windows on my MacBook Pro makes the trackpad just as janky as any other windows laptop. Then again, Apple wrote the boot camp drivers for it, so that’s on them.

My 2011 doesn’t officially support it, but there’s a patcher that makes it install and run without a problem. Blatant planned obsolescence, there’s no reason why a 2nd gen i5 with 8gb of Ram shouldn’t be able to run the latest OS. This is worse than dropping PS2 support in mountain lion so that older MacBooks couldn’t run it since their keyboards were ps2 based

For me HFS+ file system is a fucking joke; it was originally created to be used with PowerPC processors(Big Endien) but when they moved to Intel Processors(Little Endien) they didn't rewrite the code for the file-system
Instead they have a program that byte-swaps every SYSTEM CALL. You can imagine how much this slows down the fucking computer.
(whats a computer?) And there is the issue that the if you have a harddrive that goes beyond 2TB and store Futa porn/music well you can kiss it all good bye as it corrupts it all!

They are art pieces that cant do shit; Overpriced Under Powered, non user service able shit heaps.
and with the T2 chip you cant install OS that are NOT Mac OS; Thats right no Gentoo,no Arch, no debian, you have to use bootcamp to fucking use Windows.

Cause its an OS built for brainlets much like windows. But at the very least you can use windows for MMO games crap. It literally holds back the computing world with its ease of use much like windows. Hell if we only had arch, gentoo, and BSDs, and got rid of mobile computer shit the internet would suck infinitely less if you had to git gud to use internet. Hence making the world a better place. Apple as a whole as a concept disgusts me cause the fucking chinese can put garbage clones of apple products and still outperform apple after copy pasting their products.

This, a hundred million times. How is it possible that all shortcuts I use are identical on Windows and Linux, whereas on Mac you have to apply little mnemonics like "if it's Alt on Windows, it's Option on Mac, except if it's modifying...". The rule is not a direct translation of meta -> option, and not a direct translation in terms of key placement. There's just no rule.

They are different but make more sense on macos

cmd+q? command quit

ctrl+o? control open?
