Good speakers are far more important than an external DAC
If you don't have problems with background noise/interference there's no reason to upgrade to something that could be inferior

Will these have the same head? The 500gb is slightly slimmer on the outside.
I don't want to open the 500gb because I could still return it. I should mention what I'm doing; I'm gonna replace the head of the 2000gb and then recover files. Then I can just bin both of them but I don't want to discard the 500gb if it is of no use.

I don't have a room with that guarantee. I'm just taking the risk. Afterall, I'm only counting on it to run once more so I can pull stuff off it. I might be fucked already because I saw a tiny scratch on the disk from the head, which is broken because I dropped it from a height while it was running and it mangled the head a little bit. Anyway, that happened a long time ago, I only just took it out of the cupboard again. Oh BTW it was external until I took it out of the enclosure, that's how it got dropped.

to update since /g/ wouldn't help meh i fixed it myself
heres how i was able to downgrade back to 7.41.0.101 (best last ver) and bypass the forced need to update to 8.34.0.78 when trying to sign in:

1: uninstalled 8.34.0.78 and installed 7.41.0.101, then closed it
2: in the registry did a mass search & replace for 7.41.0.101 swapping it with 8.34.0.78
3: using a resource editor, edited Skype.exe, changing 7.41.0.101 to 8.34.0.78
4: finally, ran skype.exe, attached to the process and did a text scan for 7.41.0.101 and replaced all with 8.34.0.78

and poof, when i clicked sign in i was able to sign in as usual and skype reports it is "up-to-date"
and of course by masquerading as ver 8.34.0.78, i wont be bothered by a forced update again for AT LEAST a year or two
besides the fact i couldnt get 8.34.0.78 to work, its layout, its whole UI, is ugly as fuck and a mess

it should work fine, make sure you have connection settings for the VM set as bridged
install VMWare tools too from the dropdown menu
>>
>>69304275
Best solution is as soon as you install windows open cmd as admin
then run net user administrator /active:yes
this will unlock the real TRUE admin account named "administrator"
log out of your old account and into the chad account
then delete any other accounts
finally set up autologin for maximum time saving

if you dont want to do things right and just change the name, you can literally just go to control panel & user accounts & manage from there

regarding the hdmi standard
why do we have to keep upgrading hdmi (or any other connector). especially hdmi since its so common.

why cant they just increase its bandwith by a huge marging? how do they do it now?

they add a new wire everytime and build a bunch of new cables according to the new standard?

cant they just add a bunch more all at once and be done with this godamn refreshing every year?

Increasing the capability of a standard is a lot harder than you would expect. That's like saying, "why don't they just skip 5 processor generations and give us the ones they have planned for 2025."

Also they've been talking about the necessity of a new cable for a while, but up until now all the changes have been port side. A cable from 10+ years ago still does all the latest shit, provided it's not made like shit.

Im not asking to hide my ip
So i download a rando mmagnet link.
When i go to the "peers" tab, it lists everyone else, as normal. However, it lists my INTERNAL IP as well as my EXTERNAL ip in the peer list. I have never had this happen, my internal ip has never been shown
If i seed a torrent, it starts, checks the torrent data and starts seeding. Now when i go to "seeders" it has again my EXTERNAL adn INTERNAL ip. When i tested this with a friend, they saw two seeders on the torrent.
But only see my external ip. I am the only seeder on the torrent, yet it shows 2 seeders.

I am not asking about hiding ip or privacy of any kind. Since 2004 no torrent client has ever done this before, seeding on private and public torrents. It is abnormal.
>>
>>69303840
Because some come with a internal power supply and others don't.
If they don't a simple one is made inside a external brick.
A Internal one is better, makes the product last way more and protects it better.
BUT a external one is a waaay cheaper option, and saves costs for companies if the power supply ever goes bad because all they need to do is give a cheap replacement instead accepting the device back, check and fix it.

second one. i was a bit stupid and just left it after it froze instead of holding down the power button like i normally do
>warning: display "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
again, got it twice
also got 2 more of the DistributedCOM error (with the same string of numbers and letters) from the first one
4 seconds after those 4, I got
>warning: display "display driver failed to start; using microsoft basic display driver instead. check windows update for a newer display driver"
as i said, i didn't turn it off for a while after it happened. during the time period between it freezing and me turning it off and on, i got 3 messages of

The most autistic question you may answer today:

I got a free (as in freedom) S9+ and videos look absolutely fucking gorgeous, thing is i daily commute to work and uni for over 3 hours. That time i use it to watch some random movie in Netflix.

But me being a fucking autistic manchild would very much to enjoy watching movies @ 60fps, this is due to me watching Infinity War on MX player with HDR (was a remux at full 2k, hdr glory with 60fps playback) obviously not every movie is encoded like that but i dont really know if any player can do that on android, MX shure cant.

Currently thinking of placing my desktop computer in a server closet and running some sort of remote desktop thing on a laptop plugged into my monitor, but I am open to other suggestions. you're confusing them because you're supposed to, this is a newish thing and absolutely retarded
only hard drive manufacturers commonly used MEGA defined as 10^6
most other groups involved with the tech industry defined mega as 2^20 (1048576) because that's closer to how computer memory works and how most users understand it

since 2^20 > 10^6 hard drive manufacturers have financial incentive to confuse the shit out of people so they think harddrives are bigger than they are

Hey, i'm looking for a replacement battery for my hp 650 laptop.
So i found the spare part number which is 593553-001(id_1).
However while i was looking for a battery on aliexpress there were another identification "numbers" that were listed: mu06(id_2) HSTNN-XXXX(id_3)
In my laptop the battery has HSTNN-LB0W id.
Now my problem is which one should i look at? As there are several sellers that include in their product description id_1 but not the other 2 or vica versa.
There are also batteries that seem to be identical but are for different laptops.
Examples:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Korea-Cell-Original-Quality-Laptop-Battery-for-HP-CQ42-CQ32-CQ56-CQ62-CQ72-DM4-G62-MU06/2029174711.html

Lucky for you NTFS file-systems keep a copy at the start and end of the partition.

If your lucky the recovery disks automated repair process will be able to fix it. If not run bootrec via a command prompt from the recovery disk.

bootrec /rebuildbcd
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot

Yakuza might have a higher or lower polling rate for the sticks. In a noisy RF environment the level of dropped then re-transmitted frames/packets or could amplify the lag. A higher polling rate might actually end up being shittier, because it could require a slightly stronger signal or use a larger channel width that can't avoid interference/noise as easily.

so 2x160 LEDs, which means 960 diodes (assuming they are RGB and not a single color?)
Each takes about 20mA, so you need something that can do 20A.

Yeah, rgb. Thanks mate!

You can play games fine on Linux though. Windows is deprecated.

And you can jack off to linux fine in fglt, so please, mark this thread for yourself as deprecated.

Not him, however, I believe you can use Wine for Linux when launching games and such

Delete the Prefetch folder, reboot
CCleaner is good to run after maintenance
Also defrag helps (for old HDDs)

Wine is fine, but Valve made Proton which is perfect.

Enterprise is available as a trial, or you can still do the accessibility upgrade from a 7 or 8.1 pro install (https://chefkochblog.wordpress.com/2018/04/15/windows-7-and-8-1-users-still-can-get-windows-10-build-1709-for-free/)

It's available as "John", just do an apt-get install john on lunix and you're good to go.

>repasting laptop

>apply new paste very carefully and methodically
>finally time to slide on heatsink
>laptop is designed so you have to slide the heatsink into position in a VERY precise way
>slip up and basically push the heat sink (and most of the thermal paste) down and to the left
>screw everything back on and test hw monitor
>laptop gets higher temps than it should

Did you give the thermal compound enough time to "burn in"?
>>
>>69318439
Im almost 100% positive I smeared the paste off the metal. I have a nearly identical laptop and its idle temps are like 5-8 C less

Nigger what.
Unless it is some snake-oil metal paste then it shouldnt take you even 2 fucking minutes to change it (not including dissasembly and assembly of laptop ofc)

My monitor gets flickering and artifacts at 144Hz, so I use it at 120.

So I own an Xbox One so I can play with friends, right? And I have it next to my PC and have the audio decode through a small SPDIF-to-RCA thingy into my PC. I have both my Xbox and PC connected to my monitor via HDMI on an active HDMI switcher that I press a button and it instantly switches devices. Nvidia is releasing a firmware update that will allow FreeSync on my monitor via DisplayPort. I have a DisplayPort to HDMI cord that I could use with my Xbox, but I wanted to know if there was a DisplayPort passive switch that exists that I could use that would support FreeSync in this style. It's not one of the newer Xbox's it's a launch Xbox One. If not a switch, is there a way to change the firmware on my monitor so that it's not the slow ass samsung garbage? I'll have to dig into my Xbox's settings to see if there's a way to make it turn off faster so that my current switch until the update on the 15th.
Thoughts?

What is secureboot and what's the point behind using it
>>
>>69318611
OS startup components with the appropriate keys and credentials are allowed to startup, components that have been modified or have missing keys will not be allowed to startup
It suppose to be used to stop malware from hijacking your OS on bootup

What happens if you make a symlink "libcurl.so.4" that points to "libcurl.so.4.5"?
>>
>>69318708
That's how it's like by default. Pacman uses that symlink to grab libcurl.so.4.5.
I tried making a symlink to the libcurl.so.4 that's provided by steam with the install, and while DD worked, pacman broke. They definitely both use that same "file".
>>
>>69318688
learn from ruby regex, google ruby regex online, there is a website where you can try all the regex combinations that you want

>>
>>69318038
Use steams native libraries?
Dont using STEAM_RUNTIME var. Use the internal steam libraries that come with out
This is heavily documented on the steam wiki page
IN ADDITION
steam is a 32 bit program, you need /usr/lib32
>>
>>69318818
Windows will have cached all the update files (it doesnt know they only run once), so the stubs increase boot time. The next boot will be slower but after than it'll be quicker. Check the folder yourself to see what is cached.
>>
>>69318829
Uhh.
Okay, explain it to me, a brainlet.
I have not rigged steam to use my libraries over its own. How would I rig it to work properly and use exclusively its own libraries?
>>
>>69318963
It sounds like you are mixing libraries.

can I make PHP print them as if they were put there manually in the same line?

>>
>>69319073
That's really not helping.
Again, the package is clearly there, I can clearly see it in the steam runtime libraries, I have successfully launched the game using a symlink to the system package, which is how I know that it breaks pacman.
Also again, I have not in any way modified the steam runtime settings, I have no idea how I would do it, that's the thing.
The whole debugging page is useless to me because I already have all the libraries, I know that they're there, the problem is that because the one that's getting loaded is the native library I can't replace it, as pacman depends on it.
>>
>>69319215
Pacman will not touch any of steams libraries, pacman is not a 32bit program, it is 64bit, if it loaded any lib32 libraries to would show an ELF class error.
Something is fuckey in your system and lib32 system. I showed you how to correct it but apparently you already know how to fix your issue and nothing anyone else tells you, is going to change your mind. So ill just reiterate the links i posted before and that you follow them to fix your issue.

Oh for fucks sake, are you serious.
THE GAME LOADS /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4
I HAVE NEVER CHANGED ANYTHING IN STEAM TO EXPLICITLY TELL IT TO DO THAT, I DON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD.
PACMAN LOADS /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4, AS A SYMLINK TO /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4.5 INSTEAD OF LOADING 4.5 DIRECTLY
BY CREATING A SYMLINK FROM THE VERSION PROVIDED IN THE STEAM RUNTIME, IN THE .STEAM DIRECTORY CHROOT WHATEVERTHEFUCK, TO /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4 I WAS ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME, HOWEVER, PACMAN DOES NOT WORK AS IT'S NOW TRYING TO LOAD THE WRONG VERSION.
Did I spell out the situation clearly enough?
That arch wiki is trash, the tell you that things supposedly exist without demonstrating how you'd use them.
Gosh dang I'm mad.
