I need advice with my KBD75v2 I received yesterday. It's a nice keyboard, I quite like it. Looks and feels great. But the problem is that I ordered a DIY kit, but received a fully assembled keyboard, despite willingly not paying for the assembly service and instead buying a soldering iron and lubes/greases for switches and stabs. On one hand I saved myself a lot of work and got service I didn't pay for. On the other hand, it's literally not what I ordered and I feel like I could have done a better job with stabs. The space bar stab is quite noisy even though there's definitely some grease/lube on it, so there's clearly been some care put into assembly. What do?Should I complain?
>>69301592fucked up situation and desoldering them is a bit tedious and may damage some pads and leds have to be replaced, no idea, ask them why it arrived assembled.

>bought a chinkshit 65% to use in grad school instead of the $5 mush attached to the lab computers>it finally died almost three years after grad school endedI'm pleasantly surprised it lasted that long.
>>69318142What one did you buy exactly?
>>69317969Let's see>80 bucks>Thick dye sub PBT keycaps>gateron switches>QMK support>backlit LEDsNah it's actually a really good deal
>>69318224I know what you're saying, but it just looks bad.
>>69318224And it's closer to $100.
>>69318294It depends on which shipping method you pick. I didn't care about waiting so I picked the cheapest option and it ended up being 86 bucks while taking two and a half weeks
So what's difference between teh cheap $20 chinese mechanicals with led backlighting and those that are more expensive shits? They all seem to have the same feature sets. So its just up to build quality/reputation of the vendor you buy it from?
Whats a good switch for someone into box navies. I like the CRUNCH but I think they're a tad too heavy. Jades have a weird laggy sticking effect and box blues feel too soft.
>>69318892Switches and keycaps mostly. The really cheap Chinese stuff uses Outemu switches. They aren't all bad, but not that great.
>>69317102they make them out of acrylic, you could try it out with plastic from bottle caps, much softer and press it into the mold.Chinese use a machine that cost 4k prints like 1 key per second. You wont even be able to compete with those small productions now imagine having to compete with keysets that go for 15$...If you make a cool profile maybe you have a chance bro.
>>69313365Get a Logitech G305 if you want a white mouse. Razer mice are trash with trash DRM that requires an account just to change the default dpi into something usable. If you don't care for wireless, then get the G203.As for keyboards, I don't care for anything Cherry MX (which Razer's versions are just shitter Cherries) but out of your list I would get the Ducky since it comes with PBT caps. Your Aryan setup will look gross once the ABS caps start to yellow from oxidation and finger oils.
>>69318892Chinkshit have sloppy tolerances that might trigger your autism. For example, chink blue switches manage to sound louder and more plasticky than Cherries already do.
Just spent 180 eurodollars for a DZ60 with alu case and box royals. Tell me I did good /mkg/
>>69319366you sure did drop some coin on a keyboard
Nice, haata has some new force curves up.
>>69318904Either get used to the weight of navies, or stick a slightly lighter spring in them.
I'm searching for a 65% mech keyboard under $100 preferably without LEDs (even if I don't really care about that), any ideas?
i have to tell you kids, out of all the possible autisms one can have, this has to be one of the stupidest
>>69320338>why do you care about the interface device you spend hours using every day?2/10 I replied.
>>69308816the stab position is relative to the orientation of the switch (or vice versa)usually they are on the bottom to keep the LED part of the switch at the top except for the spacebar where the stab is on the top to fit on the pcb. just follow what >>69308845 said
Which of the ~$20 soldering irons on amazon should I buy? Tabiger or ANBES?
>>69320926Spend a bit more and get a TS100
>>69320983Does it really make that big a difference?
>>69321060The TS100 has universally been given great reviews and it's probably not going to set you back much more. I'm assuming you're soldering a keyboard which is a fuckload of solder points, so you might as well get a good soldering iron that will last you a while.
>>69311346>ortholinear materrace>keyboard isn't ortholinearcolumnar stagger is better anyway
>>69321060i had a solder station with a knob, fucker lasted nothing, knob was shit garbage, blinking led was retarded, temperature recovery was none existent, all proprietary garbage forcing you to buy their products, the replacement handles where about the same price as a ts100 so i just bought one.The catch is that you also have to buy a power supply if you don't own the proper connector (its like USB connectors 10 plus types). Also you can break them by undervolting it, basically the mosfet will over heat and blow out but you will notice because the handle will get hot.
>>69321119>>69321242Okay, you've convinced me. Thanks.
>>69321178>he thinks ortholinear means laterally aligned
>>69321305"ortho" right angles"linear" alignedas in a grid. columnar stagger and row stagger aren't ortholinear
>>69321305In the context of keyboards, "ortholinear" refers to those boards where keys are arranged in a grid.
>>69321404>he thinks ortho is the same thing as orthogonal >implying an ergonomic choice is described using a mathematical term and not a medical term for 'straight' >fingers travel in a straight line >... the way they also do on staggered keyboards if you hold your hands properly and are not a slim shouldered manletIt's literally like saying "ATM Machine" -- but I digress. There is no reason to buy one unless it's split-vertically-staggered.
>>69321571>"hey check out my new otholinear keyboard guys!"
daily restock the fc660c or let me preorder it already post
>>69321709this must be like the third thread we fight about semantics just because some faggots never defined things properly.
Is it just me or is there no desk height that's confortable for typing? Too high (most desks) and you have to stick your elbows out making your shoulders hurt. Too low and you have to constantly lean forward, and your knees hit the table, and plus it's hard to write on a low desk. What am I doing wrong here?
>>69321945Your elbows should just be at a 90 degree angle.
>>69321945Get an ergonomic keyboard tray and mount it on your desk
>>69322314>>69321969Would a wrist rest help?
>>69322421Likely not. You shouldn't use a wrist rest while actually typing, you'll just give yourself CTS faster.
>>69321945make a desk anon
>>69322421Yes wrist rests help you get RSI
>>69322454Didn't know that, good to know>>69322594Looks cool anon, do you know how tall it is, and how deep the top is front to back?
>>69322726>>69322454hey guys my hand hurt bu i think its my MX mouse, could it be?
Im going to follow our girl advise, thx Hilmahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcnahk-5YXE
>>69322741table top is 3'x5'height is 31 inches
>>69322826If it's anything it's improper posture/technique, not any specific gear.>>69322871Solid advice to be honest.
>>69323039mouse sits very high and i have to push my shoulder up to not touch the table thing that i never do. Maybe my table is to high?
>>69323098>Maybe my table is to high?Likely.
>>69319648I saw these graphs before, can i find them all in one place?
>>69323199Thank you anon, very cool.
>>69321709Unironically yes, this would be ortholinear. Also hell to type on for obvious reasons, but of course you know that since you intentionally came up with the most contrived example.
>>69322594>make a desk anonHow realistic is it to expect to be able to build a straight desk if one has almost no DIY/woodworking experience? I feel like if I tried every plank would have 1-2mm of heigh difference making the entire thing completely garbage. The obvious solution being to sand/grind everything into oblivion but while I do have one of those handheld power sanders, smoothing and entire desk surface sounds like true suffering, plus all I'm gonna do is make it smooth (maybe, not even necessarily) but not straight.
>>69306408i wanna get the top one but with mx blacks
Can anyone tell me if the Ducky One 2 Mini is better than Corsair K70 Vengeance (current)
>>69323429My local supply shop sells big nice looking planks for about 200$ and they offer a service to cut them down into pieces. One side of the table is attached to the wall while the other side has a full sized leg resting on the ground.- Design table- Order to cut them into piece- Drill those piece to fit screws and cement those that go into the wallYou just need a drill and some oil, not kidding
>>69323501corsair is overpriced gaymer trash
>>69323554>Drill those piece to fit screwsThat's my worry, without any sort of professional equipment is it realistically possible to drill them out by hand so that when attached they match and lay flat?
>>69323600anon, forget what i typed there, analysing your mental image of the situation i deduce that you have serious deficiencies on how to properly execute the task without causing harm to a third party.
>>69322726My wrists hurt if I don't use a wrist rest. Only recommended time to NOT use a wrist wrest is if you hover your hands over your keyboard like an autist.
>>69324077Something like this is what I use, it's perfect for me and very comfortable for long hours typing or gaming. It brings the wrists up to the perfect level.
I bought too many boards last year lads and said I was done, but I still want at least 1 topre. Convince me not to.
>>69324103Enjoy your RSI I guess.
>>69324140You're thinking of CTS, not RSI m8.
>>69309976First nongamer mech I bought. Too bad I got it with shitty browns.
>>69324140How do you figure? I have no pain whatsoever.
>>69317109You are wrong.
>>69323387staggered in any direction isn't ortholinear... it's staggered. row staggered is not the same as columnar staggered which is also not the same as ortholinear.even the wiki lists them differently: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Staggering
>>69324148There's more to RSI then CTSwikipedia.org/wiki/Repetitive_strain_injury>>69324156>what do you mean I should stop smoking. I don't have cancer now.
>>69324416But honestly, my wrists are parallel (in line) with my forearms. That is a very natural position. I've been typing like this for ~17 years and have never had any wrist or hand problems.
>tfw you want to show off stupid shit but the threads almost dead
the actuel best layout is 45% and if u disagree you're a moran
>>69324685anon, you can (You) it to me, I won't tell anyone you posted it already in the next thread:)
use Cherry MX Blue keyboard for everyday use and use Cherry MX Red keyboard for gaming?Thoughts?Y/N?
>>69324881I mean I guess I could :(Started testing some funky shit today. That board is unpopulated, and the bottom is uncoloured, but it does work :DWhen it's populated that's a LED Matrix!
>>69324943An LED matrix on top of a keycap?Somebody stop this madman.
>>69324993Nah dog, inside the fucking thing!Wait until we get to vibrating keys.
>>69325033Stick a microphone on the board as well, it could have the potential to be world's most useless VU meter.
>>69325069Oh shit we could bodge that in!Endgame is USB3.1 powered toaster, or builtin Tamagotchi
>>69324904Don't really see the need to switch between Blues and Reds, unless the people in chat complain about the noise. Hell, I used to use a Unicomp Model M for both gaming and typing.
