Is Manjaro i3 a good distro?
>>68811801new update? it looks less shit.looks.
>Manjarothis is now an Arch derivative hate thread
>>68811801yeah, it's ok
Used it for a while, then it broke (probably related to manjaro and not i3 specifically) so I stopped using it.Also I had this weird problem where every window was very slightly transparent and I'd see the manjaro logo on the desktop through everything (dark scenes in movies etc.).But it's nice to have a distro with i3 preinstalled, I wish there were more of those.
It's manjaro therefore it's shit, but recreating all the UI crap in Arch takes fucking forever, so I just user Arch+KDE and replace KWin with i3
>>68811801>manjaro>i3There is a max level for being retarded and you went flying over it at 200 mph with a 4wheeler.
>>68812095I don't know why so many people on here always shit on i3. It's genuinely very nice and useful.
>>68811909>>68811961>>68812095is this an "irrational hate for actually decent distros" thread?>>68811955compton fucked up, check the settings.
>>68811801Perhaps, but Arch DWM is even better
>>68812150>compton fucked up, check the settings.thanks, my solution was to set the wallpaper to solid black lel
>>68812150Manjaro or any arch based distro isn't "actually decent"
>>68812239so what is decent?
Arch is garbage. Manjaro is Archwith additional garbage and wrapped in a nice looking package. Install Gentoo.
>>68812239hello_where_are_the_proofs.jpg>inb4 that one issue with SSL from 2015what a solid and compelling argument for not using a nice and a non-corporate backed n00b-friendly distro>>68812270I used gentoo for 2 years and it was actually pretty decent, except for those times when portage interferes (yet again) with the CPAN/pip/whatever ruby has; which gets even funnier because of the fact that portage is itself written in python and therefore requires it to work. Also, installing and managing proprietary nvidia drivers by yourself is so tiresome I just gave up and switched to a slightly shittier but more "justwerks" distro. And, yes - I'm aware that this post is a pretty weak bait.
>>68812305>portage interferes with stuffRarely ever happens, portage literally saved you from breaking your system in those cases>proprietary nvidia driversYou emerge nvidia-drivers. Maybe put a version mask on it according to the nvidia website if your card is 6 gorillion years old.>weak baitMore like unironic free shilling I'd say
>> portage interferes with stuff> Rarely ever happenshttps://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Perl/perl-cleanerGentoo literally has a script for when perl and his dependencies fuck up badly. There's one for python/ruby too, as far as I remember (might be wrong tho).Point is - I didn't even develop in neither of those languages at the time of my gentoo install, yet they fucked up every other week. And I was on the stable branch.>>68812381that's what I did at the beginning. Still, on the stable branch the version tracking was not exactly perfect (i.e: the driver did not _always_ match the kernel), which used to fuck up my openGL performance every other reboot.I'm not bashing gentoo, I actually loved using it. It's just that with manjaro there's a lot less small things to fix.
>>68811801nothat looks like shit and autism
>>68812506you look like shit and autism
>i3OH NONONOtiling wm's are a meme
>>68812941I love them
>>68812941My machine is a meme :c
Only retards care about something as insignificant as the WM.
>>68811801Manjaro is trash
>>68811894look at the date anon..
>>68811801Tried Manjaro for a couple weeks, had multiple hiccups with many different applications, tried Arch for a month, everything ran smooth as silk. Wasn't the point of Manjaro being a distro based on arch with a non 80's installer and some extras? Or am I thinking about Antergos?I'm not really a ricer so I just stick with debian stable. i3 and dwm are very good but I don't understand the gaps meme. You're using those WM to maximize space for your work, or you're just want a pretty desktop?Regardless, I'd install arch with i3 if I were you(instead of Manjaro).
>>68811801It wasn't when I tried it. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, was scaled properly. If you're a lazy retard who wants Arch with i3, I suggest you check to see if Happy Hacking Linux is still around.
>>68812169What's the point of installing a minimal wm on such a bloated distro?
>>68811801they're all meming their gentoo + dwm rices, don't fret about it, it's pretty comfy desu
Manjaro is fine, I pushed it onto this kike wanting newer software in #debian-next (no literally, he's like a pol-tier Israeli), but he managed to break it because he wanted an extremely old version of Firefox and refuses to use a newer browser.I've never really had problems with Manjaro, but it hasn't lasted long on my machines.
