I never benched in a Smith machine, but everyone saying safties for bench is that really a thing? I grew up in a weightroom- very safety conscious coaching. We always used safties on squats- but we never used safties on bench I mean you always had three spotters around but it just seems to me that on a regular bench it is really easy to tip it over to one side if you got in trouble. The bar doesn't want to balance itself a nudge to one side and its going to tip. Having clips on seems stupid though.

Form wise, arching isn't the problem. Just put that too high up his chest. He should have put it near his nips at the lower chest, it wouldn't slide to his neck this way and the form would be stronger.
