Bros, I'm running TM, and while I know I should be DOIN THE PROGRAM, should I REALLY be doing 5x3 cleans instead of some other deadlift accessories on a Friday intensity day? It just genuinely doesn't seem like it's an efficient use of my time when my goal is powerlifting, at least pressing is building my front delts and rear delts to a degree, but I'm just very unsure of the efficacy of cleans relevant to my goals.

You have no mass, my dear little friend,
And in this fight, it's your downfall, the end.
Your fists may be fast, your kicks may be quick,
But when push comes to shove, you're just too darned slick.

Your opponent's big, bulky, and strong,
But you, little one, you just don't belong,
You're nimble, you're quick, you dance and you dart,
But in this fight, it's the end of the start.

You jump and you dodge, you duck and you weave,
But your punches just don't have enough heave,
Your kicks may connect, but they lack the weight,
Your lack of mass, it's your ultimate fate.

It's not about skill, or the will to fight,
It's just that your opponent's got the might,
And though you're brave, and though you're bold,
Your lack of mass, it's just too darned cold.

Isn't a superset supposed to work the same muscles? Alternating antagonistic movements seems like its own thing.

Do dips until you have ~3 left in the tank and within 30 seconds be repping out DB incline.

re should be in ranges of 6x6 8x8 or 10x10
for example, i did 3x3 @170 and 4x3@175 both with ~20 in bands. thats around 70% of 1rm

i read some second hand stuff on the interwbes about people not liking it but then guys like blaine sumner use it, isley's friend got one and speaks highly and luke richardson uses it as his go to bar over all the others

Think it might vary on form/style preference? I do the Mendy belly press thing and it helps with reversal (or seems to) for me

I do this on warm-ups, saw where Squat U had I think it was Maddox with him recommending super slow warm-ups to ingrain bar path

Taking a break from weightlifting to fix some injuries, so I want to focus on bench, squat and deadlift.

I thought of alternating between bench+dl and squat+bench for heavy days and doing squat+bench on light days.

Bench is 230lbs and front squat probably around 300lbs mark. No idea about dl or backsquat.

I would say maybe have each session be SBD?

Heavy:
Comp squat
Comp bench
Comp dead
Accessories

Light:
Front squat
Cgbp
Alternate stance or SLDL
Accessories

As far as general progression goes, I'd probably pick something from pic rel for the heavy stuff and just do some sort of set wise progression for the light weight with high reps.

>>70328117
im an eleiko snob. knurling holds, last long, doesn't roll, and doesn't bend.
samtek was my next favorite. same reasons as eleiko
elitefts powerbar bar was good stiffness on bench and desds, great knurling. haven't squatted with it though so not sure about whip
rogue wsb bar is just an opb with better knurling, so that.
honestly, like the texas powerbar better for some reason, probably knurling. more whip though? good bench bar
kabuki is poopoo rolley polley bendboo bar
ive used a thicker old cheap york that was stiff as tits, but the thing had like shitty commercial gym knurling, so pass.
bridge built Clydesdale bar wasn't bad, but started noodling before the ohio. so much for the name
id suggest going to a few gyms on day passes and trying them.
>>70328176
yes that is a viking press

Yeah I thought about that too, but I was wondering if the squats will negatively affect my DL, since they are both pretty quad heavy for me (weightlifting style) and if the dl volume is going to be too much?
>>
>>70328212
It's possible, in which case you could potentially pick a less strict split, where not every movement is in sync?

>Dl volume
Could reduce sets from the pic but you're gonna have to experiment and see what drives what by changing one thing at a time.
>>
>>70328282
>It's possible, in which case you could potentially pick a less strict split, where not every movement is in sync?

Yeah of course, I don't really care about syncing, so I might just have to go and plan it each training session at a time. But thanks for the ideas, I'm sure I'll pick something up from your posts

Best way to train grip strength? Up until now all I’ve been doing is more deadlifting and rack pulls but my grip is holding me back from progressing. Is there some sort of program I can add in that specifically target grip? I did farmers walks for the first time today (lol).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04AMhOAO474
Farmers and doh deads are good too.
>>
>>70328924
Farmers wouldnt hurt. Big Loz recommended doing deadlift holds iirc, and you could maybe try incorporating axle/fat grip stuff
>>
>>70328924
I was doing double overhand holds for 5x5-10 seconds and then adding weight when I'd hit 10 seconds for each set with short rests. 1-2x a week. Worked pretty well for what it was. Holding last set for as long as possible with regular deads also works well.

I hate when people say this. Ive had people come up to me in the gym and ask me if theyre strong when I say "not really" they always say some dumbshit like "oh well according to this website im stronger than most people that dont lift weights" like it means literally nothing and its only used by weak people to preface their shit lifts and say something like "I only lift x amount but Ive only been training 3 months and im only 155 lbs and im injured too haha" on an unrelated note ive had 3 separate instances of scrawny indian teenagers coming up to me trying to bait me into complimenting their strength and trying to sell me on their "clothing brand" that theyre trying to start up. its just stolen clipart on tanktops.

>tfw no powerlifting gf

Anyone have any experience with this? Is this a "grass is greener on the other side" situation? Or is it actually comfy training with your gf?

I've trained with my gf before but she's a gym scrub so it wasn't very comfy at all
>>
>>70331985
It fucking blows dude I tried training with my significant other a few times and it didn't work at all. They weren't interested in the same modality of weight training and mainly I was off doing my own thing ovassionally going over to them to talk but as a lifter that is focused as fuck when he trains and keeps a good pace it just isn't for me. What's actually good is having a home gym in their basement and having them make intra/post workout meal while you're training and hanging out after. Tons of things are great to do together but training isn't one of them.you cant really force someone to have the same passion as you

I said powerlifting gf not gf who also works out. There's a big difference. If you have a gf who just works out she might talk to you in the middle of an intense set, or leading up to it, breaking your focus. Powerlifting gfs know when to let you be and when it's fine to talk (i'm assuming)

Population wide metrics are bad for comparing progress but no one using these strength standards unironically is comparing towards untrained people.
Good old 1/2/3/4 isn't that bad as a initial checkpoint and while the lifts aren't all equal in terms of difficulty it is still a acceptable point for a "normal" span body weight adult male. A giga skeleton will probably have more problems reaching it than a bloatlord but it isn't bad within the standard bw segment which makes sense for something aimed towards beginners.
I realize you hate big data because it isn't BURNING SOUL to think about stuff but standards are a good way to assess current performance at current bodyweight unless you're strong enough to be a competitor at regional level.

>>70332235
I love standards and data why the fuck do you think I made the hero registry and made it rank by DOTS? It's so people can realistically see where they're at relative to actually strong individuals. I just feel like standards have been co opted by the weak as some sort of weird way to call themselves strong. You say nobody actually does that but I've seen it countless times of sub 400 deadlifters calling themselves "elite" and trying to use that to give people retarded ass advice. The problem is that people use pants on head retarded standards such as the "average person" to say they're strong or whatever
>>
>>70332297
>sub 400 deadlifters calling themselves "elite"
>retarded standards such as the "average person"
Surprisingly sane take on the topic, tracking progress by comparing to a random untrained person off the street sounds like something only the most mentally challenged individuals can come up with.
I guess my viewpoint is a bit tainted by interacting mostly with the people at the powerlifting club which by itself is a very biased sample skewed towards high performers. Some dudes there prefer looking at the results of local/regional meets and ignoring big data which is fine too, the data is after all just an approximation of the relative strength of a lifter.

>For some reason seated db press is excessively easy and I could probably throw 30kg dumbbells. I'm in a crisis. I could just risk my cardiac health to pursue 100kg ohp but really, I should be losing weight
You don't need to be bloated to press 100kg and you can easily press 30kg dumbbells because you are doing half reps
>>
>>70333597
Aren't you 90+kg at 160cm
>>
>>70333650
I was 88kg at 166cm for that press. I don't know how fat you were imagining someone had to be to press 2 pl8s

That's very chunky unless you are pinning vitamin S
Not me btw, I press 2pl8 @ 195 lbs

>That's very chunky unless you are pinning vitamin S

Fwiw I’m getting back into bjj. Going to go light for a while to see how it feels. If it’s gets too bad, I’ll stick to Muay Thai. Just lifting is so boring.
>>
>>70334215
Forgot trip. I tore my pec doing bjj on a bad arm bar.
>>
>>70334223
I didn't know that could happen, but then again, Bobby tore his pec while squatting

This ones going jn the bin
>>
>>70334256
Wait seriously? I thought I was safe doing squats and deads. How much was he doing? Is he natty?

He was just starting out. He was basically doing behind the back barbell flies by pushing the bar into his back with his pecs

Yes

That means you were already chubby/fat and you gained a lot of fat
>7kg in 3 months
Yeah that's going to be 70%+ fat [assuming natty]
>>
>>70334140
Whilst I would ordinarily strength mog, this ex-powerlifter trains at my local club, and in his day he was better than me. So I would be just a good white belt. Also, I'm very frequently snabbed. My back was really bad not even a year ago, and my torn lat isn't fully recovered even if it can deadlift good again.

I know how to unrack, I am just not risking it because of months of prep and my lack of very very heavy singles.
Again I only do it when going for 1Rms

he's not natty sustained usage of prozac over a long period of time has lowered his bone mineral density as well as weakened the connective tissue on top of making him dependent on them to not rope
>>
>>70333840
Gotta be like 160cm at 83kg then.
