Bros, I'm running TM, and while I know I should be DOIN THE PROGRAM, should I REALLY be doing 5x3 cleans instead of some other deadlift accessories on a Friday intensity day? It just genuinely doesn't seem like it's an efficient use of my time when my goal is powerlifting, at least pressing is building my front delts and rear delts to a degree, but I'm just very unsure of the efficacy of cleans relevant to my goals. Bw 219 280/185/360My clean sucks, i could probably go to the gym and clean 155 rn. No, not kg. Just dyel.
You have no mass, my dear little friend,And in this fight, it's your downfall, the end.Your fists may be fast, your kicks may be quick,But when push comes to shove, you're just too darned slick.Your opponent's big, bulky, and strong,But you, little one, you just don't belong,You're nimble, you're quick, you dance and you dart,But in this fight, it's the end of the start. You jump and you dodge, you duck and you weave,But your punches just don't have enough heave,Your kicks may connect, but they lack the weight,Your lack of mass, it's your ultimate fate. It's not about skill, or the will to fight,It's just that your opponent's got the might,And though you're brave, and though you're bold,Your lack of mass, it's just too darned cold.

What would dips go good with in a superset? Yates rows?
>>70326474Anything that doesn't hit the same muscles as the dips
>>70326496Yea but like supersetting vertical pulls with vertical pushes is good practice I've heard. But a dip isn't a vertical or horizontal push really, it's it's own thing
Isn't a superset supposed to work the same muscles? Alternating antagonistic movements seems like its own thing.Do dips until you have ~3 left in the tank and within 30 seconds be repping out DB incline.*IMHO IMHO IMHO*
>>70326605>Isn't a superset supposed to work the same muscles?I dont remember what the name is but that's something else>Do dips until you have ~3 left in the tank and within 30 seconds be repping out DB incline.Sounds good though. maybe I'll combine this with calf raises for a gigaset
>>70326605No. I think giant sets can though. Or maybe in this case it's called a finisher? Not too well versed in bodybuilding stuff.

>>70327161I'll do it once I'm stronger and bigger but I can't imagine doing fast explosive reps of 30% of my shit cancer noob numbers will be effective. Although I guess working on technique does make sense
>>70327184Just bump up the percentages to 70%-80% and go as fast as you can. It makes for some good volume and it's 'fast enough'. As long as you don't have to grind your reps.

>>70327511I'm still in the novice "simply add 5lbs every week" stage so I'm not the guy to ask. I usually just do 3x5 then a much lighter amrap set to finish them off. I'd say heavy bicep work is pretty necessary to avoid stalling. Alphadestiny seems to be the go to guy for weighted chins advice

>>70327184i don't think ive ever seen a straight 30% for de. the usual that i see and what i go by is 45-60% with 10-30% in accommodating resistance. re should be in ranges of 6x6 8x8 or 10x10for example, i did 3x3 @170 and 4x3@175 both with ~20 in bands. thats around 70% of 1rmone of the other keys is rest time. you aren't doing speed work with more than 90s rest times>>70327756>You can get it hereyou can get it all here, but i wouldn't expect to see it on a breakfast menu. i don't even see it on nj diner menus

>>70328007I have not heard good things about the titex power bar. Pretty sure Noriega threw a fit about having to use it in comp. And I think the plates are also ugly as sin.
>>70328033i read some second hand stuff on the interwbes about people not liking it but then guys like blaine sumner use it, isley's friend got one and speaks highly and luke richardson uses it as his go to bar over all the others
>>70328051it should be fine. i personally don't like the opb that much. too much whip and i don't like the knurling
>>70328010>I wasn't a fan of DE for bench. Think it might vary on form/style preference? I do the Mendy belly press thing and it helps with reversal (or seems to) for me >I would say 3/0/3 bench is fantastic for ingraining good bar path thoughI do this on warm-ups, saw where Squat U had I think it was Maddox with him recommending super slow warm-ups to ingrain bar path
>>70328010Taking a break from weightlifting to fix some injuries, so I want to focus on bench, squat and deadlift.I thought of alternating between bench+dl and squat+bench for heavy days and doing squat+bench on light days. Bench is 230lbs and front squat probably around 300lbs mark. No idea about dl or backsquat.
>>70328093What str8 bar do you suggest, 9ball?
Form check on strictish viking press?
>>70328112I would say maybe have each session be SBD?Heavy:Comp squatComp benchComp deadAccessoriesLight:Front squatCgbpAlternate stance or SLDLAccessoriesAs far as general progression goes, I'd probably pick something from pic rel for the heavy stuff and just do some sort of set wise progression for the light weight with high reps.
>>70328117im an eleiko snob. knurling holds, last long, doesn't roll, and doesn't bend.samtek was my next favorite. same reasons as eleikoelitefts powerbar bar was good stiffness on bench and desds, great knurling. haven't squatted with it though so not sure about whiprogue wsb bar is just an opb with better knurling, so that. honestly, like the texas powerbar better for some reason, probably knurling. more whip though? good bench barkabuki is poopoo rolley polley bendboo barive used a thicker old cheap york that was stiff as tits, but the thing had like shitty commercial gym knurling, so pass.bridge built Clydesdale bar wasn't bad, but started noodling before the ohio. so much for the nameid suggest going to a few gyms on day passes and trying them.>>70328176yes that is a viking press
>>70328191Yeah I thought about that too, but I was wondering if the squats will negatively affect my DL, since they are both pretty quad heavy for me (weightlifting style) and if the dl volume is going to be too much?
>>70328212It's possible, in which case you could potentially pick a less strict split, where not every movement is in sync?>Dl volumeCould reduce sets from the pic but you're gonna have to experiment and see what drives what by changing one thing at a time.
>>70328282>It's possible, in which case you could potentially pick a less strict split, where not every movement is in sync?Yeah of course, I don't really care about syncing, so I might just have to go and plan it each training session at a time. But thanks for the ideas, I'm sure I'll pick something up from your posts
>>70326710I see you've abandoned suboptimal sets of 3-6
>>70327842>you can get it all here, but i wouldn't expect to see it on a breakfast menu. Yeah, that's true. Everything else sucked, but at least I could stop at any diner and get a good rueben.
Best way to train grip strength? Up until now all I’ve been doing is more deadlifting and rack pulls but my grip is holding me back from progressing. Is there some sort of program I can add in that specifically target grip? I did farmers walks for the first time today (lol).
>>70328924https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04AMhOAO474Farmers and doh deads are good too.
>>70328924Farmers wouldnt hurt. Big Loz recommended doing deadlift holds iirc, and you could maybe try incorporating axle/fat grip stuff
>>70328924I was doing double overhand holds for 5x5-10 seconds and then adding weight when I'd hit 10 seconds for each set with short rests. 1-2x a week. Worked pretty well for what it was. Holding last set for as long as possible with regular deads also works well.
>>70329011>>70328975>>70328969Thanks bros. I’ll try these. I’ve also never used chalk. How much will using it increase my deadlift assuming grip is my only limiting factor? I Googled it and said 40 lbs or 20%. I ordered some liquid chalk and will give it a shot.

>>70330819Considering you're a beginner I'd assume so
>>70330826ok goodi feel like im gonna hurt myself every time on barbell bench lol
>>70330819Yes but not as good as you'd be if you barbell benched. Of course since you're in strongman and not PL then it doesn't matter as much.
>>70330819work on your bench form, you'll probably enjoy it once you do it correctly
>>70330853its pussy shit but i get scared being under the bar like thatsame with on squats but its not as bad with squats
>>70330955you bench over 200 pounds. By normy standards you're already very strong. Nut up, you're strong enough not to ACK yourself as long as you don't get crazy and slap an extra pl8 on the bar
>>70331056fair enough although im not quite there yetmy bench is like 180 pounds i think
>>70331056>By normy standards you're already very strongI hate when people say this. Ive had people come up to me in the gym and ask me if theyre strong when I say "not really" they always say some dumbshit like "oh well according to this website im stronger than most people that dont lift weights" like it means literally nothing and its only used by weak people to preface their shit lifts and say something like "I only lift x amount but Ive only been training 3 months and im only 155 lbs and im injured too haha" on an unrelated note ive had 3 separate instances of scrawny indian teenagers coming up to me trying to bait me into complimenting their strength and trying to sell me on their "clothing brand" that theyre trying to start up. its just stolen clipart on tanktops.
conjugate looks fun im gonna do it
>>70331156Most people can't deadlift 400 pounds.
>>70331156its cuz they look at you as the king of the gym and want your approval
>>70331171"Most people" are children, women, and the elderly. If you're an adult male saying things like that you don't deserve to train. I WOULD NEVER COMPARE MYSELF TO MOST PEOPLE BECAUSE IF YOU TRAIN YOURE NOT "MOST PEOPLE" COMPARE YOURSELF TO FREAKS BECAUSE THATS WHAT WERE FUCKING TRAINING TO BECOME IF YOUR FRAME OF REFERRNCE IS AVERAGE THEN YOULL ALWAYS BE AVERAGE YOULL NEVER MAKE IT YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO ME NOW STOP SAYING SLTHAT STOP SAYING THAT. INSTEAD SAY THIS: "well atleast you're stronger than most untrained women, children, and elderly." You don't deserve to say "stronger than most people"
>>70331226most adult men can't deadlift 400 pounds
>>70331238>>70331171>>70331226B T F OTFO
>>70331238Most adult men don't even deadlift. If I saw you on the street I would throw you into a trash can>>70331204I train at a ymca(mostly elderly and untrained kids) I'm king of nothing
>tfw no powerlifting gfAnyone have any experience with this? Is this a "grass is greener on the other side" situation? Or is it actually comfy training with your gf?I've trained with my gf before but she's a gym scrub so it wasn't very comfy at all
>>70331985It fucking blows dude I tried training with my significant other a few times and it didn't work at all. They weren't interested in the same modality of weight training and mainly I was off doing my own thing ovassionally going over to them to talk but as a lifter that is focused as fuck when he trains and keeps a good pace it just isn't for me. What's actually good is having a home gym in their basement and having them make intra/post workout meal while you're training and hanging out after. Tons of things are great to do together but training isn't one of them.you cant really force someone to have the same passion as you
>>70331985>>70332057You don't want a girl with 100% overlapping interests. It's good to have some things you and she would prefer to do separately.
>>70332057I said powerlifting gf not gf who also works out. There's a big difference. If you have a gf who just works out she might talk to you in the middle of an intense set, or leading up to it, breaking your focus. Powerlifting gfs know when to let you be and when it's fine to talk (i'm assuming)
>>70332082>>70332073thats not even possible how tf are you gonna find a plgf when there are like 1000(?) girls that actually do powerlifting worldwide? that just seems really unlikely imho nanodesu
>>70332073>You don't want a girl with 100% overlapping interestsDo chicks like vtubers? What's the demographic?
>>70332141It's possible. My fiancee was doing PL for a couple years until she couldn't handle it anymore physically.
>>70332154i meant like organically finding a significant other who happens to like powerlifting as well instead of like getting them into it perse
>>70332142there are some yeah but it's definitely 99% a male audience for the ones I watch, although there's always the fujoshi market too.

>>70332200Smaller total, bigger dots (as is customary in women)>>70332201I don't mean him specifically, but anyone that would be tempted to in this general since it happens as soon as someone posts comp lifts all the time
>>70332183Weird how carefree and careless means 2 completely separate things
>>70332211whats the difference >>70332208true i remember when that shit happened to MA
>>70331226Population wide metrics are bad for comparing progress but no one using these strength standards unironically is comparing towards untrained people. Good old 1/2/3/4 isn't that bad as a initial checkpoint and while the lifts aren't all equal in terms of difficulty it is still a acceptable point for a "normal" span body weight adult male. A giga skeleton will probably have more problems reaching it than a bloatlord but it isn't bad within the standard bw segment which makes sense for something aimed towards beginners.I realize you hate big data because it isn't BURNING SOUL to think about stuff but standards are a good way to assess current performance at current bodyweight unless you're strong enough to be a competitor at regional level.
>>70332208>Smaller totalok good
>>70332230>whats the differenceCarefree is one without worry and careless is someone who's incautious
>>70332235I love standards and data why the fuck do you think I made the hero registry and made it rank by DOTS? It's so people can realistically see where they're at relative to actually strong individuals. I just feel like standards have been co opted by the weak as some sort of weird way to call themselves strong. You say nobody actually does that but I've seen it countless times of sub 400 deadlifters calling themselves "elite" and trying to use that to give people retarded ass advice. The problem is that people use pants on head retarded standards such as the "average person" to say they're strong or whatever
>>70332297>sub 400 deadlifters calling themselves "elite">retarded standards such as the "average person"Surprisingly sane take on the topic, tracking progress by comparing to a random untrained person off the street sounds like something only the most mentally challenged individuals can come up with.I guess my viewpoint is a bit tainted by interacting mostly with the people at the powerlifting club which by itself is a very biased sample skewed towards high performers. Some dudes there prefer looking at the results of local/regional meets and ignoring big data which is fine too, the data is after all just an approximation of the relative strength of a lifter.
Cheeky 5kg Pb after comp, 3x5 at 177.5kg afterwards
>>70332484Wild that you're back in the gym the next day. Take a rest lmao.
>>70332484what numbers did you hit?>>70332535bro ur rank 5 now. also when did it go from 500 to 600 days?
>>70330455what's your worst injury? currently dealing with an ac joint sprain and I have to spend the next week doing very light work
>>70332547Always been 600Also I checked the hero registry and it hadn't been updated.

>>70332641ok but that still leaves you 3 DOTS points behind marcel.
Should I get those specilized squat shoes with the high heels, my squat is lagging behind my other lifts and I was wondering if it would help or not.
>>70332749For reference my lifts are250 bemch225 for squat425 for deadlift
>>70332749nah it probs wont do much. put pl8s under your heels to see if it makes any diff first>>70332724so uhh you gonna change ur rank in namefield?

>>70333188>>70289502>>70289544I asked him to do commands and shit. It never happened and I was dying at the bottom. He also grabbed it once before when I felt like I had a (tiny) chance of making it
>>70333156I added a fudge factor to my total since my squat PB was a double so I can equal Marcel
Is there any reason not to do all my bench reps paused if my pause bench is 90-95% as strong as my regular bench? I'm doing nuckols int bench and I'd like to know if I'm actually progressing on AMRAP sets, not if I'm bouncing the reps more this week or not. Feels like doing AMRAP with a 1-2 second pause each rep would be a lot better at telling if i'm actually progressing or not
>>70333112>>70333174why are you even using a spotter if you already have safetiesespecially if you're already being hindered by him
>>70333174>>70333236This. If you set your safeties right, you should be able to push the bar towards your neck and having land on safeties>muh gym requires itDon't comply

>>70333413What did he mean by this?>>70333424Longer rest (depending on program)
>>70333429I made up my program. I'm already overweight, but I know realistically that if I'm not gaining weight, my progression will stagnate. I weigh 80kg right now but I should be 70kg. I am very overweight. For some reason seated db press is excessively easy and I could probably throw 30kg dumbbells. I'm in a crisis. I could just risk my cardiac health to pursue 100kg ohp but really, I should be losing weight

I could just risk my cardiac health to pursue 100kg ohp but really, I should be losing weightYou don't need to be bloated to press 100kg and you can easily press 30kg dumbbells because you are doing half reps
>>70333597Aren't you 90+kg at 160cm
>>70333650I was 88kg at 166cm for that press. I don't know how fat you were imagining someone had to be to press 2 pl8s
