>6 hours of sleep in my childhood bedroom feels like 8 hours in the apartment I rent in a different city while living alone

it's called cortisol. being alone raises it, my advice as someone who is in the same situation, talk, message, someone, anyone in a group chat or whatsapp or wahetver, have some contact, send your mom a goodnight message, whatever. And turn off all devices half an our or more before bed, fall asleep in silence or have some white noise. this will help you.

>being physically alone raises cortisol
>so just send someone a text message
>then you won't be physically alone any more
The modern world is so absolutely fucked. What lowers cortisol is the physical presence of others, as well as physical closeness/touch, not just the bare minimum concept of communication. The fact that people today genuinely believe electronic communication is a substitute for physical closeness is so fucking sad and misguided and just plain wrong. No wonder mental health problems are on the rise.

Like every single search result mentions it. Millions of results

He says "substitute". Do you have any better suggestions?

It's not even a substitute. You need in-person interaction daily. We used to get this from work and school, but doing everything remotely has even ruined that, so you have to actively make time to go outside and socialize with other people to some degree.

yes it is.

>You need in-person interaction daily. We used to get this from work and school, but doing everything remotely has even ruined that, so you have to actively make time to go outside and socialize with other people to some degree.
that is correct.

my stress levels increase around others.

>yes it is.
It's not, your hormones are not tricked into behaving as if you're with someone in person just by reading a text message. These processes are literally driven by proximity.
>that is correct.
Then why did you disagree with the first point? Those two points are intrinsically linked.

If I don't sleep in my empty bedroom in the flat I rent alone it takes me forever to fall asleep. I don't like visit my relatives for this reason.
