>Who is /fat/ for?
For lardy lumps who are working towards a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros) or LoseIt (great for both).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I weigh everything - including sauces. I don't eat back exercise calories as that's just stupid.
You've very clearly missed the point about my watch and 'exercise calories'. Sure, what the watch says is X might not actually be, but, if I say my average is like 450-500 and then I have a week of 1000+ then that shows that I've clearly done more.
Eating 6000 calories lmao

Basically I was lifting got almost up to a LMAO 2 plate deadlift, then stopped and over the next 7 months gained 40 pounds. So I gained fat but maintained my muscle. So now I lose 12 pounds in a month and have exceeded my 2 plate deadlift by 20 pounds. So I didn't lose muscle I've gained. That's not all I can feel more muscle structure in my upper chest and arms. My bench is going up. Hell I'm 40 years old and I've never experienced noob gains like this. It is very strange.

Well if they are small use them to hold when you are on the treadmill or stationary bike. That's what I used my 10lb ones for. Unless you are very weak and can't curl them.

There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. You tell me you gained a kg of weight. That means somewhere you ate over 6000 extra kcal. That's a fact. Don't make excuses and say you didn't. No way that is water weight. You are screwing up big time. Your job is to figure out what you are doing wrong. I said what I think it is. Investigate other options and prove it.

they're like this adjustable 20kg set.

No you retard, 2pl8 is a specific weight, 2x45lbs/20kg per side, to total 100kg.

You could be lifting 2pl8 with 4x10lb plates per side for the same weight.
>>
>>70311357
There are no plateaus. There is water weight and not properly counting food or recording exercise. The in-between is with the people crying about their thyroid and how diabetes and insulin resistance makes them gain weight. It doesn't. It makes you hungry! The extra food makes you gain like everyone else.

One of the cool things about weight loss is often you will see the scale not moving much for a couple days. You quickly realize it makes no sense and it is water weight. The body trys to hold onto this water then eventually it gives up and dumps it all giving you a big weight drop. I now look forward to the scale not moving. Cause I know I only ate 1500 calories a day. You can't fool me water!

>>
>>70311684
So you really think there is a difference if I eat 1500 for two days vs 1400 and 1600? There is no difference at all. You can eat 1400 calories for 6 days and then eat 2100 calories on day 7. You still average 1500 calories. Your body doesn't care when you eat.

Heck last week I stayed up way too long and slept very long. Ended up with about 2 hrs left in the day and 1500 calories to eat. Ended up eating 2900 calories in about 8hrs then went back to bed. Still lost weight that week.
>>
>>70311756
I had no progress for one of my weigh ins also. Because I ate a pizza and it had a lot of sodium. So had to delay my weigh in 2 days. Then I lost 2 pounds.

Yeah. When I started at 270lbs I would consistently lose 1-3 lbs a week. But now I'm 190 I seem to go between gaining very small amounts (like 0.2lb), stalling, and then suddenly dropping 2.5lbs for 2 weeks then back to 3 weeks of stalling.

Guys, I need a bit advice. Lost about 8 kilos. I'm 180 cm, was 113kg, now I'm 105 kg.

As a teen I had some eating disorders, so. it's hard to lose weight. Everyone says, "oh dieting is easy, just cut 500 calories out of your diet" And you're like, sure, I could do that. But then I start thinking about how half a kilo isn't much, and wouldn't it be nice, if I gave myself some leeway? Like what if I aimed for 1000 calories instead of 1500? That way if I miscalculate or eat too much, I can still lose weight.
Then obviously, you're like, holy shit, 1000 calories is a LOT. And you burn like ~2000 calories every day, even lying in bed all day. All you need to do is not eat for 2 fucking days to lose half a kilo.
And there we are. My best friend Ana, giving me a warm embrace and welcoming me back. Can we just pretend I'm doing a longer fast or something? Thanks.

I mostly abuse sleeping pills and xanax this time. If i'm hungry. I hit the pills, and knock myself out for the day. Sparing myself thousands of calories.
But hey, it works. I plan on not eating for 4 days minimum.
I'm was wondering if anyone has any tips. How to suppress my appetite. Or just general knowledge.

>also ignore them titties, they're solely the result of obesity and not anything else.

Also nta but my experience is you should see a rapid decrease when you first restrict your calories, and carbs in particular. Both times I have restricted calories after a long period of maintenance, my weight has shot down 5 or more lbs in a week, before settling into the typical expected results for a given deficit (I was doing 1300 calories / 1000 calorie deficit so about 2lbs a week).

I think being fat is fucks it up worse, but I agree and see your point. I only plan on doing this until I reach about 90 kilos. Maybe more. 95.

>So eat low calorie meals like Salad (No dressing) and ofcourse fruits because the better you treat your body the better your body will treat you.
Sorry I can't do that. I don't eat any vegetables. Except caramelized onions, garlic and ketchup. The rest taste extremely bitter to me. Especially lettuce. Broccoli. Anything green. I don't eat fruit either. I have to take vitamin C every few days to stave off deficiencies. Fun story, one time my wounds weren't healing, I had sharp stabbing pains all over my body constantly. It was getting worse and worse. I didn't know what was wrong with me. Until I did some googling and found out it might be vitamin C deficiency. So I told my dad, and he bought a giant bag of tangerines and oranges. I ate them. By the next day the sharp pains stopped entirely. And my body started healing in a few days.
So basically I almost gave myself scurvy.

I mostly live on baked stuff, bread (sandwiches) some butter, a bit of meat and cheese. Also dairy products. Half my calories I eat every day are from milk, chocolate milk, milk with coffee, etc I don't care that I have to eat less of other things, because they're so calorie dense. At least they bring me joy. Vegetables do not. Would rather starve to death. Most fruit repels me also. Except maybe sweet tangerines, bananas, kiwis and sweet apples. That one I also find really odd. Humans started out as frugivores.

We sometimes have fruits in the house. During the summer strawberries from our garden. Cherries from relatives. At autumn grapes.
I walk past by them every day. Until they inevitably rot, and we have to toss em. I don't know what's wrong with me.
>>
>>70312531
>If i'm hungry. I hit the pills, and knock myself out for the day.
Honestly kinda based. I am schizophrenic but I mostly ignore my meds because antipscyhotics dull me down and make me sleepy, but they also make fasting so very very trivial. I sleep for 14 hours and spend the other 10 in a far away place where hunger is a mere suggestion rather than a craving. My only worry is, doesn't the state of low low activity your sleeping pills/my antipsychotics bring about mean we burn far fewer calories than we otherwise would? Persevering and fasting with a normal activity level would surely burn more.

Yes but iirc the difference is small unless youre going from athlete to couch potato; the vast majority of cals people burn are for body upkeep.

I have no idea whom you're talking about or what nonbinarism has to do anything with it.

If you want to know the truth, I a transwoman. 34 years old, I've been taking anti-androgens and estrogen for 12 years now. I was thin all my life, until the age of 20, where I weighed 70-72 kilos. That was literally perfect. It's my final goal weight. Never felt or looked better.

It was after 21 that I started getting fat, (because I hated my body so much)

I didn't say this, because I thought it wasn't relevant to the discussion at hand. However. Now that the cat's out of the bag. How much loose skin and grossness will I have after 14 years of carrying 30-40 plus kilos?
>>
>>70314031
Gaining 10 pounds of muscle is really hard. More likely you gained 2 pounds of muscle and 8 pounds of fat. Just that the body looks a lot better with limited muscles. The old skinny fat dilemma.
>>
>>70314041
You can tighten loose skin as you lose it with exercise, mostly strength training, but cardio also helps. If you do diet alone that is what gets the worst loose skin.

Literally just do this bros.

Download Lose It app
Download Six Pack in 30 days

Mark down what you eat with the weight loss plan you have.

Stop drinking sodas (even diet, use seltzer if you have bubbly cravings) reduce smoking for aerobics.

Work out via the 6 pack in 30 days
5 days a week,
Monday, Tuesday (rest) Thursday, Friday, Saturday (rest).

Mark down literally everything you put in your face; since you are now working out 5 times a week, your lifestyle is considered moderate; if you want to lose weight proper, set your diet to moderate, if you want to cut and juggle, set your diet to sedantary despite living a moderate activity lifestyle.

I started October 22, 2022 at 273, 6 foot 4, pack a day smoker; and as of today 5 months later, currently at 232 and one cigarette a day (night cap smoker as a treat for making it through another day)

My calories per day are roughly 1300-1600 a day, of which are 40% ratio Protein, 35% Fat, and 25% Carbs; I'm currently losing a stable 2.5 pounds a week. From basically just fucking pacing myself and disciplining my diet.

Learn to love the following:
Eggs+Cheese+Tuna+Greek Yogurt+Seltzers.

A neat way to get your calories and have a nice treat is to mix in two scoops of Muscle Milk with 2 cups of skim milk, toss it into a blender. You just made a delicious brownie smoothie that is low on carbs and high on protein.

Initially avoid anything with processed sugar; no soda, no juices, no corn syrup.

then reintroduce fructose and glucose via fruits, veggies, and your delicious protein bars and muscle milk powder.

If you want to go uber kino, take this in the morning with your breakfast. (Mine is Zero Sugar Greek Yogurt+two slices of Chicken breast+Skim Mozzarella stick with Green Tea; )
Caffeine+Ginsieng+Taurine+ Guarana

These are your four basic ingredients in an energy drink, without the sugar.

It'll suck for the first 20 days, but its worth it bros.

Think of it like a bank account. Your weight * 3500 is the calories you have in savings. Your TDEE is the bills you have to pay out daily and the food you eat is your paycheck. If you eat at maintenance your savings go untouched. If you eat below you have to dip into the savings. If you eat above the bill gets paid and any extra goes into your account.

I have had 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water morning and evening now for a few days, and damn, it supresses hunger real good.
It's also like 2-3$ a bottle for the unfiltered one that contains "Mother", not the goyslop ones.
I recommend giving it a try if you are doing omad but get hungry.

I'm starting to reuse the same recipes too often, anyone have any suggestions for dinner with either ground beef or chicken?

I usually do

Breakfast/lunch: Either scrambled eggs with chunks of ham OR protein pancakes OR protein oatmeal.

Dinner: Chicken breast with random spices and rice OR Chicken fajitas OR Burritos OR burger patties (no bun) with rice OR chili

Snacks randomly throughout the night: Protein shake and/or homemade protein bar and/or hard-boiled eggs and/or random low-calorie dense stuff (like smartpop) depending on calorie allowance/how much protein I still need

I'm pretty happy with my lunches (tbH I ate eggs for like 5 years straight and I never really got tired of them), but I'm getting a bit tired of my dinners, plus with fajitas and burritos I lose a lot of calories to just wraps. Not a fan of cooking for very long (as you can probably tell) so if it can be easily prepped all at once on sundays, even better.

I give up.
I'll never lose weight.
Fasting, eating just one egg daily, eating only 200g of meat daily... nothing works, I tried it all.
The fat just won't go away.
I'll probably kms soon as I'm also ugly and I have a small penis.
I'm already 32, it's over
God truly and undeniably hates me.
>>
>>70315013
how about counting calories, piggy?
>>
>>70315013
U could accept it can be a slow process and don't need results overnight or resort to extremes like fasting (but for me I found out fasting works for me more than trying am extreme calorie deficit each day) or you can just give up. It's up to you
>>
>>70315007
Yeah it is kind of an omad meal for me. 91.5% of mine. Should just throw in more cheese and butter to get me to 1500 calories.
>>
>>70315013
Why then has counting calories and eating 1500 calories a day got me down 13 pounds in a little over a month? But forget about that. If I keep it up I'll go from 260 pounds to 205 pounds in 6 months. Then to 170 pounds in another 5 months. This is a long game. You didn't get fat overnight and you won't lose it overnight.
>>
I'm confused about sedentary TDEE. If you don't leave your house all day and don't do any exercise of any kind, aren't you actually just using a little over your BMR worth of energy? To sit upright and shit. My BMR is 1850 and my sed tdee is 2250 but I can't see laying around all day being the equivalent of a 4 mile walk.

Also google fit pisses me off. That app gives you a running calorie tally throughout the day, which uses BMR rather than any other calculation. The other day I hiked 25 miles in the hills, about 1000m total climbing and it told me I burned 2800 calories that day. Fucking useless

Ever watch the biggest loser? They aren't allowed to weigh themselves until the big group weigh in. Do that. Only weigh yourself once a week or once every two weeks. Like a contest. Because caring about the scale day to day is just a waste of time. This is a long run not a short march.
>>
>>70315224
But it’s not day to day, last time I weighed myself was like 5 days ago.
It could be water weight but 2 pounds?
>>
>>70315207
Okay I see your problem then. Put simply you are going to have a hard time at this given the numbers. For example my tdee is 2700 and I eat 1500 giving me a 1200 calorie deficit. For you to do the same you would have to eat only 900 calories a day.

But here is what I suggest. Eat 1400 calories a day. It will be hard but you will lose 1.4 pounds a week. If you exercise do not tally or care about your calories. Just continue to eat 1400 calories every day. This is a long term program. It will take you many months to lose significant weight. But it is better than killing yourself.
>>
>>70315219
Im 5’8, and i have no idea of my weight today. I was with 90kg when I started (not in this pic tho, I’m both of them), and the drugstore where I used to go that had a scale closed, so I stopped weighting myself. It’s not my first weightloss journey, but I certainly lost 10+ Kg In these 3 months, so I would guess that my weight in those final pics is around 78~80kg. I eat 2 meals a day, almost no sugar, very few carbs, and a lot of meat (chicken, fish, red meat, whatever it moves I’m eating). I drink a lot of green tea, helps a lot with sugar cravings and it tastes/feels good. I drink alcohol maximum once a week, and is usually on days that I skateboard and walk a lot around town, so it’s fine.I lift 4~5 times a week, PPL routine that I do with dumbbells at home. I walk almost everyday and I play soccer 2 times a week, sometimes I will skateboard too (yesterday I’ve skated for like 4h straight, that shit probably burned me 1000 cals +). I’ve always enjoyed practicing sports, i was fat due to REALLY bad food habits. Losing weight is almost fun to me. And I’m doing it all to perform better at the sports that I enjoy (and to look better/healthier too, of course), so that’s way I’m not bothering too much with the actual numbers on the scale. I just want to feel better when doing the things that I enjoy, and I already can feel the results a lot (can run a entirely 1:30 hour soccer game, more nimble, less lethargic overall). Sometimes the /sp/ pill is better then the /fit/ pill, but is even better when you can make both work together alongside.
>>
>>70315263
Don't get hung up on the scale. Do something about it. Count your calories with more autism. Exercise harder. Eat less. The scale is what it is. Do what you can go change the number the next time.

Even if youre sitting 99% of the day (unrealistic since you need to pee and get food and water and do chores) youre still probably moving your arms and head and back from time to time over the course of 16 hours.

Added 2.5 cups of water and the chicken boulin cube with the onions, mixed in the chicken. Added spices / red hot and let that boil and reduce. Cooked the noodles separate. If too much sauce either let it reduce more or add a tiny bit of flour or corn starch. Then add the noodles. Added more red hot to make it hotter. Put on dish with grated parmesano.

I always hated diet soda because whatever shit they put in instead of the sugar is actually SWEETER than the regular one, which makes it disgusting.

Anon's here typically struggle with temptations when they're starting out, and anything sweet can get them back into habits they're trying to break (like a gateway stimulus for drug addiction, it's very similar). It shouldn't be surprising you get a recommendation to drop the goydrink because if you struggle with sweets, even though it's zero calorie, it could create a trigger/binge situation.

Yes, the diet one is better.

Yes. If it doesn't cause issue in other parts of your life, like cueing an over-eating scenario, than it is fine. Some here have to be very anal about their dietary choices to survive those first 30 lbs but if it fits your macros and gives you results that last, do it. Not everyone has that restraint, probably >>70316522 is one of them, for good reason.

My gains (losses) are going steadily. Lift are going well. Cardio starting to pick up.
Started at 300lbs last July at 6'0. 254 as of this morning. Lightest I've been since 2018. Progress is inevitable, no amount of demotivators or doubters can stop me.

No, but that's because I'm a poorfag who's managed through a combination of his articles and this thread's advice. If I had the money to burn, I'd seriously consider it because the dude gives away too much, or at least more than the average fitness-based career person/shill would; and he seems to be flying solo as a businessman. If he's chosen to do that out of moral fortitude, nice, if not, well... over-monetizing yourself can make yourself an insufferable c u next tuesday anyways.

He attempts to wade through fitness BS to find gold as best he can. Though many health studies are often sponsored/tweaked by big pharma, he takes even that into account. I like him alright, but judge for yourself.

People are allowed to enjoy the things they eat if it gets them the results they want, is sustainable long term, and doesn't create issues elsewhere. How hard is this to understand? People often fail by only allowing themselves to eat 4 different things for their weight loss journey that is ultimately doomed because they get bored of eating the same shit. Highly restrictive diets may be necessary for those who are trying to build some self control but jesus

Im happy im losing weight but not sure im going to be happy where i end up. Hope i just dont feel like the same person after getting to my -100lb goal.
>>
>>70317428
That's true, but a lot of the time it's difficult to assess that, being a fatty state of mind you think: I want the food now, and feeling hungry for too long causes pain. But seasoning and having a variety of foods helps with the diet blahs, as well as probably giving yourself a choice of some different nutrients.

Under TDEE? Eat it if it doesn't put you over. Over TDEE? Drink water, black coffee and teas without sugar or milk. The caffeine in the latter two may help you not to eat anything else.
>>
>>70312151

So this time I'm gonna try to implement some permanent diet changes, first time I'm losing weight counting calories, first time I did keto, second time I did my own special banana diet, 5 bananas a day with nothing else, man I must have eaten a lot of bananas that year

>No points are deducted if you gain weight. But you need to beat your minimum in current leg to start earning points.
>If you join then you should consider it as a commitment. You won’t be able to leave the contest until the leg has finished! And 5 points will be deducted if you fail to submit an entry. So even if you gained weight, submit your entry to avoid losing points.

So it says on the fatty contest website. Take the L and keep consistent with your points. You're not infallible, the dip in gains (losses?) may even remind you of something difficult you were trying to overcome at the time, or a particularly embarrassing mistake you made. These things will motivate you and inspire you if you don't give up, bumps in the road are a part of the process. It's only outright failure when you choose to give up.

Interesting. Going to look into this. Always feel like something is up with my guts. You don't. Eventually your ghrelin takes the hint and the pre-bed cravings go away.

The night cravings are the worst - they literally prevented me from sleeping every time I've tried, and ruins my next day. If it's a low calorie day I have my single meal right before bed, usually 8 - 900 calories. If not, I time my first meal for 3 - 4pm (It took time to avoid eating at work, was hard) and have my last meal at 10pm.

It's been a while and now my cravings aren't as bad but getting to this point took a lot of attention. I just find it easier to delay eating in the morning than to avoid at night. So long as it all fits my macros and calorie goals. You got this anon

My roommate ordered some creatine and I pitched in half so we could share it. Been taking it every day this week. Is it any good for fat loss? I know it makes you retain more water so maybe the numbers on the scale will be bigger but I think that's in the muscles right? Basically what I'm asking is: does it impede fat loss in any way?

my current plan is prego mode with ''baby sculpting'.' i just didn't take body recomp and took weight training in high school like some sort of cave machine thing, so i don't know why it's so hard to wrap my head around anatomy but! How to get it done without knowing?

How worried should I be about "starvation mode" where if you eat too little calories, your body freaks out and starts trying to conserve as much fat as possible?
>>
>>70317625
30 min of walking may be only 150 calories for you. But the same exercise at an incline will almost double the calories burned. The rest doesn't matter. Small meals or large it is just calories in and out.

Im looking forward to my next family gathering in may. I should have lost 20kg by this time since I seen everyone last time at Christmas. Will be interesting to see what happens. Probably nothing, but Im going to feel good either way.

how do you gain any muscle while trying to be /notfat/?

I'm an obese retard and want to lose weight, but getting 250g of protein a day requires me to eat so much
>>
>>70318128
The only thing the body can hold onto US water weight. Starvation mode isn't what people think it is. When people starve they slow down, sleep a lot. A slower metabolism does not change the concept of calories in and out.
>>
>>70318151
Same here, I've read that 1g of protein per 1cm of height is equally good.
>>
>>70318151
Why don't you start your diet by getting at least 100g of protein a day. Because the whole point of a diet is it is long and you should have started last month. Not worrying about macros. After you hit your target weight you can body recomp with a sensible bulk and lifting weights.
>>
>>70318151
Then dont eat so much protein? You dont need that much.

Nothing is stopping you from doing a crash diet. As long as it doesn't lead to a binge. I'm on a nice easy 2.5 pounds a week. Currently eating a 90 calorie homemade chocolate chip cookie cause I had calories left over for it. Used to eat like 15 of these guys. Now I get one a day from the freezer if I can fit it in.

Update: I didnt exactly tell him it was a gastroparesis diet cuz im a fag but i told him i found it by searching "slow gastric emtying" which return pretty much only one thing. I still dont know if he understands what my diet is but hes not worried about deficiency as long as im eating "something resembling a normal diet" (whatever that means) and "fruit and vegetables" (which i am). He referred me to a dietician anyway tho which is kinda nice, will probably go, and is testing me for pylori antibodies and thyroid health.

Actually keeping them in the freezer seems like a good way not to binge on them. I like your thinking anyway with regards to diet. I too enjoy treats throughout the week when my calories allow it. Counting cals and losing 1-1.5kg a week has been good. I know a lot of others here struggle even with eating pretty much nothing, but I can keep hiting my 1800-2000cals a day at the moment and lose pretty consistantly. Currnently 120kg.
>>
>>70318232
>if I'm gonna stall/lose muscle anyway, why shouldn't I just crash diet for a month or two and drop 1lb/day in the meantime?
I mean you could but thats not what im saying. Theres no way you currently have 250 pounds of muscle so dropping your protein intake, as long as youre not crash dieting, isnt gonna increase your muscle loss.

>>70318235
Just because its bad for you (what he meant) doenst mean its bad for everyone. Coffee is acidic. People who struggle with heartburn can get triggered by it, as well as people with ulcers. Caffeine also causes the body to increase stomach acid production, something that also aggravates those other diseases (and possibly others). Its also quite gross on an empty stomach, but i probably dont need to say this,
