Garbage. The “science” behind low sodium is garbage. Read The MD Emperor Has No Clothes.

why is modern nutritional science so dogshit?

its like the bloody dark ages
>>

salt does raise blood pressure but it raises it to a normal healthy level in people without other cardiovascular issues

obviously brainlets over at the fda/cdc cannot comprehend this fact though

Profit motive.

Follow the (((money))). Salt probably exacerbates issues in combination with other shit compounds in food. Better to take down salt than the other shit that’s killing fatsos.

I'm a perfectly healthy individual. I weight lift 6 days a week and do 3 25 HIIT cardio sessions per week. Dropping my salt intake to 2600mg a day lowered my blood pressure from 148 to 118.
>>
>>63917527
funny how they have plans to reduce it by 12% which means they already know the outcome and were testing others methods and found that 12 is what they need to come to
always remember, shit is planned ahead
salt was originally added to food because of iodine and how drastically it reduces hypothyroidism

Which is like double RDI. The advice from these folks is less salt is better, unbounded. Their advice is basically to eliminate salt from your diet.

OK advice if you're eating lots of processed food, but no one should be eating lots of processed foods.

You can get most of your sodium from whole foods as well. Just about everything has some sodium already in it. From meats to starches.

A degree of it, yes. An excess, not really especially since it elevates blood pressure. The constant peeing sucks too as your body tries to regulate it back into range if you carry too much. It's not a huge deal, wont magically kill you. But there's a sweet spot.
>>
>>63917527
>FDA
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Your body craves salt, because it needs it. It also needs a balance between water and minerals, drink water and you're gonna crave salty food. Eat salty food and you're gonna crave water. That's it, no need to reduce it or have more.
>>
>>63917527
How about some sugar regulation fda?you fucking faggots.
>>
/fit/ only has a problem with this because we exercise and drink plenty of water, so our bodies are plenty capable of managing our salt levels. You guys have to realize the average person is a sedentary retard and barely drinks water at all, and that's who these recommendations are meant for. Don't take personal offense to them trying to fix the average overweight American.
>>
>>63919732
Sedentary retards should be eliminated. Also salt isn't itself making anyone fat.

All of these dietary reccomendations are not for people who are trying to be their best selves, or better than average. They are for the type of guy who goes to his 9-5 office job 5 days a week, goes for a jog maybe once a week but mostly sits at home and watches TV. Claims to care about health but really just says that for social points, and follows these standards these organisations set out for them.

If you're low salt the body will take it from the bones, also releasing magnesium and something else I can't remember, which cause weaker bones.
So what are the science for lower mineral density in bones on HIGH salt?

Salt is a VITAL nutrient and the we were to follow the current guidelines we'd die. Luckily there are a lot of salt in food.
>>
They'll put more old people on even lower salt intake and the next summer heatwave will kill even more people.

Yes and no
The guidelines are based on what would be beneficial to the majority of the population which are old, fat, sedentary, blobs. The problem is when it becomes regulations in places like new york that have broader legal impacts on country and shapes our eating habits through force. Because the pigs they're trying to protect from themselves would never listen to the guidelines any how. Just more eventual authoritarian policy and less personal responsibility and the freedom that comes with that.
