I do abs 5 days a week at the end of my session.
They are a bit of a meme, asthetics wise, as lower bf% will be the deciding factor if you see them or not but having a strong core helps everything else out.

I do one set to failure, aiming for almost 20 reps with the plate selection, of situps with my hip flexors disengaged, probably once every two months or so just to make sure I still got it.
You're gonna want to train them every couple days if they're just non existent or every week if they're weak. Otherwise heavy fuckin lifting will maintain them.
The idea that they can be trained with more than 20 reps and on consecutive days is why yours suck.
