So I peaked out around 284 pounds mid August last year and since then have been working to lower my weight. I’m now down to 266 pounds, basically managing to lose 18 pounds over the last 22 weeks. Most of this has been through regulating my calorie intake, however lately I’ve been steadily working sporadic exercise into my routine and also am shifting to a job that won’t be 100% sedentary/work from home and will have to walk to work again as part of my daily commute.Is this a good rate of weight loss so far? And assuming I keep this up and both work in more exercise and continue shifting my calorie intake to match my weight, is it reasonable/realistic goal for me to get close to 200 pounds by the end of the year?

But part of the process of losing the weight is figuring out how to get the most bang for your buck (calories), what you can substitute, what is considered a treat that you didn't know is supposed to be treated as such (a whole avocado having more calories than a Hershey chocolate bar being one of my revelations), and what foods you should add more of to your meals that don't have a lot of calories so you can eat more and not pack on the pounds. If your stew is all oil and fatty additives like cheese, creams, bread, rice, potatoes, etc you have to watch it. A soup like that should be treated as a small side, paired with a ton of veggies for another side and something more nutritious and filling as the main meal. That's how you still get to eat your favorite foods, not feel like you're starving all the time, and not get fat.

If you make it at home you can have 22 cauliflower crackers (50kcal), 2 slices of american cheese (30kcal each for the one I get at the store), and 50kcal for 6 slices of turkey breast slices. You get twice as much food with with almost half the calories you'd get with the premade stuff.
