Shouldnt there a be a relation between pushups and bench press
>>
>>58507229
i dont know
ask a doctor
>>
>>58507229
yea
never done pushups but last time i did 50 and can bench 2pl8 x5
>>

if you do pure strength and no metabolic training then that can happen
>>
>>58507183
Figuring out the flow of your breathing makes a world of difference with push ups desu
>>
>>58507264
She is doing a pushup
>>
>>58507229
Yeah, but you're not gonna get better at something by not doing it.

Muscle memory smoothbrain. As you repeat a task, your CNS becomes more efficient at performing the task and accomplishes it with less brainpower and increased muscle activation. Literally like riding a bike.
You can be the strongest man on earth, and if you pick up a discus to throw it, you'll look like a pathetic DYEL retard and get shown up by highschool track athletes.
If you want to be better at push ups, you have to do push ups. End of story.
>>
>>58507183
Same. Name me one good reason to do push ups though?

You press approx. 65% of your body weight with a push up, I'm already well passed the ability to do that with a barbell and can overload as much as I want, working the same muscles.
>>
>>58507183
i could probably only bench 150 if i tried right now but do sets of 40 push ups. its a different exercise. anyways i just heard my gym closed permanently. i wish i could lift. i will execute the jews for just this grievance.
>>
>>58507183
Maybe you are doing a powerlifter bench (cope) press
In this case 20 pushups are harder than a 2pl8 bench
>>
>>58507530
powerlifters actually do pause benches which are miles harder than touch & go and other bounce shit
>inb4 some insane arch pic
cope
>>
>>58507348
yeah shes pushing my dick up if you know what i mean
>>
>>58507348
that poster is part of a homosexual psyop
>>
>>58507553
Most powerlifters do minimal rom bench (nothing wrong with that for the purpose of their sport(lol)) its just pretty fucking stupid if u actually want to build muscles or get good at pushups

Pushups are easy you should do progressive overload. 6 months ago I used to do 20 and felt like dying but now I can do 40-42 easily.
>>
>>58507397
They’re a good accessory. Some programs include them on your bench day. Obviously you shouldn’t do them instead of bench.

TOPPEST OF THE KEKS
>>
>>58507183
Pushups just suck dick that's all.
Did you go completely to failure and still get <20 though?
>>
>>58507183
It has to do with muscle fibers, its actually very scientific and I wont get into it right now but what you do is, more push ups.
>>
>>58507183
I can do 100 push ups in one set when I really push myself, but my bench is only like 180
>>
>>58508552
>More push ups
Or you dont cause that shit is worthless

Seething coomer
>>
>>58507183
maximum strength and endurance strength aren't the same adaptation, like the diffrence between running a marathon and sprinting 100 m
>>
>>58507183
pushups are worthless
>>
>>58507229
Not really. I can do 18 reps of 2 plates, but 18 pushups is hard as fuck for me. I used to be able to do 60+ when I was a military fag. You're only good at what you train.
>>
>>58507204
based
>>
>>58507974
>picking object with legs and low back
>pulling your chest to bar

Completely different motions. It's a miracle if a woman can do more than 2 pull it ups but it's not too uncommon to see them do 2 plates (any var)
>>
>>58507183
What is your rep speed like? Do you have a nice controlled descent when benching and doing pushups or do you just drop in either of them?
You probably have terrible muscular endurance because you never train past 12 reps under a moderate load.
>>
>>58509131
I never,ever trained push-ups and had a 115lb max bench at 155lb bw

Still had 50 pushup sets, not even to failure
>>
>>58507183
Dying in what way? Maybe you should do some cardio.
Maybe your scapular strength sucks too, if you only bench press.
>>
>>58507229
Depends on form and mind muscle connection. Some people aren't able to engage their chest in push ups so their delts and triceps do all the job.
