What have you guys picked up recently?

>vegetable/seed oils are literal poison, they lead to heart disease
>high saturated fat is not bad for you, any study that says it is is most likely a self-reported questionnaire
>smoking is the worst thing you can do, and quitting cold turkey unassisted is terrible. Quit using Carr's Easyway
>fiber is incredibly important for your gut microbiome, so make sure you eat meat with fibrous vegetables on the side
>meditation (mindfulness) is incredibly good for you
>sleep needs to be consistent, you should go to bed a few hours after sunset (different depending where you live, but generally 10pm)

Will comment more as I think of them

online dating is a waste of time because no one wants to meet a stranger during a pandemic and it’s better and more realistic to focus on the girls you have already met in person
>>

Once you find a girl you realize how much time you wasted putting energy into worrying about women and wish you'd spent that time improving and organizing your life
>>
>>56237587
true. but it's hard to fight off those desires during these socially distant trying times. the lesson that i learned was that the only girl comfortable with going on dates and coming over to my place is the one that i didn't meet online

Any other Aussies here? How have you been doing throughout lockdown? Gyms open yet? I'm in the NT so gyms have been open a month and a half already
>>
>>56237483
why is quitting cold turkey bad? I'm not reading a 100 page book about smoking
>>
>>56237483
some things are wrong here.
>>
>>56238096
Because you will go your whole life craving nicotine, and won't ever truly be free from it. You might not want to read it because you are lazy, but the truth probably is you are scared of quitting. Just read the book, worst case scenario you don't stop smoking but you've gained some knowledge.

What is wrong?
>>
>>56238324
not true. I couldn't imagine life without cigs when I first quit. After about 3 weeks i stopped feeling like shit and after a few months I stopped craving them entirely. You're probably dealing with a lot of stress in other parts of your life if you're having that much trouble

Can any loremasters let me know if I'm wasting my time with 10lbs dumbbells? I'm pretty poor and I got them for free, I don't have anything else to work out with. I'm actually not just poor I'm dead broke, so is it worth it to lift these? Any specific technics? I usually just curl them while watching something, pump them in the air, swish them in from an extended reach and to my chest.

But is it going to do anything or should I just try and beg for something heavier? 20lbs? 40lbs? I'm not very strong...

Worthless. You are far better of doing body weight workouts. If you can afford buying a pair of gymnastic rings then you are set for life. For nutrition: rice, beans, oats. These are cheap kcal and protein sources. Good luck.

this, you can easily get jacked just with rings, maybe some resistance bands, and proper nutrition

Extra virgin olive oil is good for you.

I wish I had a home gym. I'm moving from Darwin to Canberra soon, so hopefully will be able to set up a home gym when I get moved in.

Look up some dumbbell exercises and do as many as you can. I'd reccomend high reps since it's a very low weight. Other than that, do body weight exercises (pull ups, push ups, etc). Something is always better than nothing. Goodluck anon I believe in you

What a depressing image. Surely we can do better than simply beating reality into shape.

I quit cold turkey after 3 years, I also smoked a few years before that. I did about a pack/pack and a half a day depends.

It literally is all in the head, once I smoked so much that I felt how disgusting it was I just threw them in the trash.

I'm also broke.

Be creative. Need a barbell? Just feel two buckets with water, grab an iron bar somewhere and you have a fucking barbell. Calculate the weight based on the volume of the bucket and how much a liter of water or whatever you out in the bucket weights. With multiple buckets you can have all the weight you want as a beginner.

To curl, you can do this with a bucket of water :

Also, you don't necessarily need weights. Use your own body's weight. Look up calisthenics online there are tons of resources. On YouTube I'd recommend calisthenicsmovement and Tao Physique. Here is a document showing bodyweight progressions :

I worked out my chest 2 days ago and they are just a tiny bit sore today.Should I try to do my upper body workout today or just wait until tomorrow to lift weights?

Meditation is hugely overrated and its nothing but a fad.
