Is yoga based or cringe? I’m not trying to ogle whores, I do it for my health. I feel good after doing yoga.

>>56164850
>t. guys who don’t do yoga
>>
>>56164802
Yoga is great
buddhist shit is amazing when it comes to mental health
>>
>>56164802
Yoga's actually really good for you, but if it's the only exercise you do, you'll never make it.
>>
>>56164802
It’s really good for stability and building better mobility, plus it builds a good connection the muscles, the harder poses really require you too focus hard on form, something you can skimp out on with lifting, will yoga make you big or very muscular? No, but adding it in tandem with lifting will literally only benefit you so do it
>>
>>56164802
Most long time lifters and mma guys I’ve run into end up picking up yoga at some point. It’s only s.oy if you do it with those types, it’s unironically great for keeping up on your joints long term
>>
>>56164802
yoga is based, the guys who will go to yoga are cringe though. you might find like one or two cool ones
>>
>>56165365
>will yoga make you big or very muscular?
i guarantee you nobody asked
>>
>>56164994
hell yeah bro I'm on some of that Buddhist shit
>>
>>56164802
Keep doing it bro, Yoga is going to save you a shit ton of trouble, unless you fuck up tremendously, you won't be getting injured lifting anytime soon.
>>
people who hate on yoga haven't tried it and are basing their opinion on misinformation and negative stereotypes

yoga is a wonderful calisthenic workout that can entirely replace lifting or running if you do it regularly

yoga can be as easy or hard as you want it to be

it is very low impact and safe with a low risk of injuries provided you know your limits and don't push too hard
>>
>>56165365
>will yoga make you big or very muscular?

that's simply not true

you are just used to seeing people who lift and take roids they are big from the roids, not because they have specifically chosen to lift over other forms of exercise, roids make you big no matter which type of exercise you do

yoga absolutely builds muscle and can be as hard as you want it to be

do power flows for 2 hours and you will be exhausted my dude

you just haven't tried it

you don't need to lift if you do yoga, you can just do yoga and yoga is a heck of a lot more interesting because you do different exercises in a different order each time if you have good instructors guiding you
>>
>>56165917
I don’t doubt it builds muscle, I’m just saying you can’t build a really big physique off of it, unless you’re already big to begin with, I don’t doubt it leans you out, my abs and shoulders became a lot more defined after a couple months of it, but you will plateau much quicker due to only having body weight,
>>
>>56164802
Yoga's an excellent component of physical fitness practice

If you want to be strong, you should also be balanced. It's bizarre how hateful most people here will probably be about stuff like yoga-- strong guys here would watch every lift shoot up if they practiced.
>>
>>56165938
You can build a really big physique if you take steroids and do yoga. Those big physiques you are thinking of were built with steroids. It isn't lifting specifically that made them, it is taking steroids while also exercising.

>but you will plateau much quicker due to only having body weight,

no you will not, you can always go faster and do yoga more often and for longer

there are always more difficult yoga poses and there's no way you are doing just the hardest yoga poses in order

it being just bodyweight means it is much safer and a lower risk of injury, if you respect your limits, it doesn't mean you cannot build muscle from it.

again, steroids and the bodies they produce have altered what your brain thinks of as "big".
>>
Basically steroids changed our perception of how a healty and muscular body should look like today?

By the way I just started yoga a week ago, and it already is starting to change my mind and mood.
>>
>>56166127
yes, when people think "big" they think of steroids, not what lifting itself produces

yoga is about reducing your propensity to muscle spasm (ideally you flow until you are basically about to spasm, then you rest in shivasana)

it is also about pairing breath to movement, so ideally you want to get to a point where each inhale and exhale you are either getting deeper into a pose or moving to a new one

You can get pretty fucking strong doing asanas. And to normies Dharma Mittra is jacked.
>>
>>56165894
>*ASANA is a wonderful calisthenic workout
Yoga is a philosophical discipline with many practices designed to treat various ailments.
>>
>>56166159
I would venture to guess most of the "nooo yoga cannot replace lifting to get muscular!" folks cannot do this pose

they act like they could easily to the hardest of flows and the most challenging of poses, and uh, I doubt that very much
>>
>>56166177
Yes, that's true so I'm only discussing the physical components of hatha and kundalini and vinyasa type yoga but I think most people understand what I am saying without the need for your petty complaints.
>>
>>56166150
>it is also about pairing breath to movement
This feels so good for my body
>>
>>56166407
and, to add, it is about remembering to breathe deeply enough to get the pose down

sometimes I feel like I cannot get into or hold a particular pose and I have to remind myself to give myself enough breath to support it
>>
>>56166186
Accuracy in language is important, faggot. "yoga" is so stupid in the west because people just think it's stretching. kys
>>
>>56166430
there's no need for homophobic slurs here

i clarified that i mean the physical practice of asana/poses, so I think we can move on now

stretching can be simple and easy or incredibly difficult and sweat-inducing

stretching ≠ just seated twists

or something like that

inversions and arm balances are stretching and that's going to be very challenging for most

I do yoga every end of workout, I lift heavy and do some cardio
>>
>>56164802
Yoga can be based, except it was taken over by whores. It sounds a lot like a combination of light exercise and meditation from what I hear. I used to think it was gay until I found out that the guy running one of my favorite YouTube channels (Think Before You Sleep) was a yoga instructor. The dude is based as fuck and I did not expect him to be a fucking yoga teacher, so he really opened my eyes to the whole thing.
>>
>>56166524
It isn't light exercise, you just haven't tried it. It can be incredibly difficult and there are many different styles and levels.

Yoga can be intensely physically challenging.
>>
>>56164994
>>56165598
The Buddhists and the Stoics were both based as fuck.
>>
>>56166534
Really? I thought it was just flexibility shit, I didn't know it could actually build muscle.
>>
>>56166544
It absolutely can build muscle. Building flexibility can be incredibly physically challenging. Yoga can be as hard as you want it to be.
>>
>>56164802
I dont do yoga but I wrote a literature review on yoga that convinced me I should definitely start. Like others said it shouldnt replace lifting but its a great supplememt, especially in the long-term it’ll help you age better.
>>
quit worrying about other’s perceptions about you. if you get something out of yoga, be it physical or mental, you should pursue it. letting other people’s perceptions of things should not affect your own happiness or growth process
>>
>>56166629
It absolutely can replace lifting and the only people who argue otherwise are those who think roidmonkeys look the way they do because they lift, not because they blast and cruise high doses of anabolic steroids.

You have never tried a vinyasa yoga flow and have no idea how hard it is.
>>
Ok so where do I start with yoga then as a lifter? Would be cool if I could mess around with it in my home.
>>
>>56167076
I would suggest going to in person classes with an instructor if you can. You can do it yourself but your alignment probably won't be correct and its way better having other people you can mirror in a class.

Look up what a sun salutation is and try those, barring that.

i like supported pigeon

for supported pigeon you want to place a block under the hip that's trying to touch the floor, and a blanket atop the block for comfort

you then place a bolster in front of the block/blanket and rest your hip on the block and slide your leg so that it sits forward of the bolster

If you want to continue being /fit/ or lifting beyond the age of 30 then a formal stretching routine is essential.0

Except when you're in an asana for 13 hours meditating on your own rotting corpse and then the demons of pain come crawling out of the woodwork

ok but like most ppl are doing asanas for like 30-60 min usually

same with meditation

Yoga is about more functional strength, I'd say. Yoga is about building tolerance to muscle spasm in various body areas. There are workouts to target any area of the body really.
>>
hi
>>
>>56169068
Yeah that guy is retarded. It can't replace lifting, but yoga is good for flexibility and it does feel great to do hot yoga as long as some bitch isnt stinking up the room with her nasty stank pussy, which happens every so often.

Do gymnastic streches faggots. Stop with that hippie bullshit brah. Gotta look like a sick kunt while being flexible like balerina brah.

yoga is mat gymnastics basically

you can always ignore the hippie stuff and just pay attention to the form of the poses

Mat gymnastics would be mat gymnastics you absolute brainlet
>>
>>56170856
i mean like the asanas are gymnastic moves basically with different names

low and high lunges are pretty common moves in a lot of disciplines

No, stop doing it immediately because users of anonymous forum for mongolian porno cartoon lovers will call you """cringe"""!
>>
My main qualm with "yoga" is that there's so much feel-good bullshit aimed at plebs that it's really really hard to tell apart the legit stuff from the chaff. It's like trying to find a good martial arts gym. There's so many bullshit snowflake disciplines catering to normie plebs that want an easy ride that it's hard to find what you want.

If there was some sort of straightforward guide to what yoga is, what results you can expect and so on it'd be so much easier and worthwhile.
>>
My community center has yoga. Some instructors are better than others. I enjoy it and it’s an important part of a well balanced routine.

buddhism and stoicism haven't helped me to a gf. i think it's been the opposite.
>>
>>56171616
what do you consider the chaff?

>If there was some sort of straightforward guide to what yoga is, what results you can expect and so on it'd be so much easier and worthwhile.

there isn't tho but a lot of it ends up being somewhat similar anyways at least with mainstream fitness yoga type classes

sun salutations, folding, bending, twisting, lunges, pushups

there are plenty of websites about yoga but the best way to get a feel for it is to sign up for a couple classes and take them in person if possible or i guess zoom now in our covid world
>>
>>56164802
You know it's healthy, and you feel good after doing it, so who cares if some faggots think it's cringe? lol
>>
>>56171733
You don't need a gf. Western women have been forever ruined by social media and you are better off without them. Study up on mgtow bro. I recommend the YouTube channels Think Before You Sleep, Better Bachelor, Young Men's Daily Redpill, and EMAN67.

There's still good ones out there bro. You're logic is the same as a fatty or a dyel looking for an excuse to never become fit. "I can't fail if I don't try". If you want to give up go for it, but don't drag other anons down with you. We're all gunna make it, just gotta try.

Enjoy getting divorce raped dumbass. Over half of marriages fail and 70% of divorces are instigated by women. The courts also heavily favor women so you will lose half of all your shit, lose your kids if you have any, have to pay alimony, and have to pay child support if you have kids. Enjoy the blue pill. She is not yours it is just your turn, you are nothing more than the beta provider she settled for after she got run through by Chad and Tyrone for 15 years because she doesn't want to work.

The people who are saying yoga doesn't make you ripped are missing the point of yoga and meditation and such practices
>>
Yoga stretches your muscles, which would tear them a little same as lifting does. It'll build some muscle and make you more toned, but you can't substitute yoga for lifting. Yoga only does so much, after that if you want to be bigger then get lifting.
>>
it's cringe if you're not going to meet pussy. it's just stretching and trying to relax
>>
>yoga is a heck of a lot more interesting because you do different exercises in a different order each time if you have good instructors guiding you
You could say the exact same thing about lifting. A good routine will have exercise variations. I do PPL so I never do the same workout two days in a row.
