I picked this casio >>17899102 because it is a titanium solar radio watch with day, date and lume, the lume sucks ass so badly it could as well not be there tho.
Whether you need a date or day date, that depends on who you are and what you do. I work an irregular schedule I actually wouldn't know what day of the week it is if my watch didn't tell me.

Lume is overrated BTW, if there's any light at all say night sky or distant street lights the sword hands and faceted indexes are going to pick it and shine well enough to clearly see it.
And if you're in complete darkness with no light at all that probably means you're fucking sleeping so quit staring at your watch and go to actually sllep.

>>

I like Grand Seiko but find their modern designs very bland. I very much like the Grand Quartz and Superior models (for example, 9943-8020, 9940-8000, 9983-7000, 9256-8000 etc) as well as their early manual winding and automatic models (for example, the 44gs). Few modern models do anything to me due to their thickness, too large size or boring case shapes. I suppose I like the 36mm 44gs's they have made for the past couple years, though.

I just had a thought.
During normal use it would be preferrable to use the chrono second hand to count seconds because it's more legible and in my opinion more aesthetic.
During chrono use it doesn't matter that you can't see the normal second hand ticking.
So, for a quartz chrono watch, why not use the chrono second hand to count seconds during normal use, and seconds in chrono use? I dislike the tiny second dial and wish that the chrono second hand counted the seconds like in a normal watch. If you counted seconds with the chrono second hand you could replace the second dial with something else like a second timezone 24h dial.

Is there any reason this wouldn't work? I'm a newcomer to watches.

>>
Has anyone here already purchased from panatime? Are their rubber straps good?
>>
>>17899312
He has a point though. Especially on quartz movements where you can make every hand do whatever you want.
>>
>>17899318
So you'd have to first press a button to set the seconds hand to 12 before using the chrono? Or just start the chrono and not see the seconds at all untill you stop it?
Would require multiple motors which would up the cost and complexity just so you could have a 24 hour dial? Better just to skip the seconds entirely.
Anyways if you need to time something digital chronos are infinitely better than analog. Analog chronos are just mechanical cope imho.

As easy as turning one lever.

I got a Seiko 5 to stay exactly on time over a week, one day it gains a second and next day it loses it.

Literally any modern watch is a chronometer if you simply tweak it.

it's a crystal, you can put the other one back in if you want to sell it. I would hardly consider a crystal replacement "modding"
>>
>>17899329
On a quartz the hands can move very fast to any place they want to go. Therefore it doesn't matter where the second hand is at the time you press the button, it takes at most half a second for the hand to rotate to the correct position. Therefore the function of the chrono would not be affected at all.
A second motor isn't required for the second hand since there already is one to work it for the chrono action.

The speedmaster is still used by the Russians for space walks as backup instruments.

G-Shocks don't work in the vacuum of space and at the extreme temperatures they deal with, so mechanical watches suffice, for the Russians.

English lesson for you /wt/, I see germoids make this mistake all the time. I assume German doesn't differentiate here is why I see it.

When something needs to be done at a certain date in the future it is "by that date" not "until that date." until refers to the time between an action starting and ending but doesn't refer to a specific deadline at all. "by Thursday I'll submit the paperwork" and "until the paperwork is submitted, the job is incomplete" are correct, but wouldn't make sense swapped around.

It's typical for guys going through a breakup to resort to prostitutes, especially when the girl is the one leaving the guy. It's a way to have a quasi-intimate relationship while having the relationship be entirely on his own terms. He can feel like he's in a position of power after feeling entirely powerless; he couldn't stop his wife from leaving but the hooker can't leave him, she can't even disagree with him, she needs to get paid.

Big clunky G-Shocks and their plasticky derivatives look like the wrist equivalent of autism sneakers. Any Casio otherwise is either something out of a very dated magazine or ISIS combat footage.

"Minimalist" mechanical watches look like something a fedora-wearing Reddit atheist would slap on. If it has runes from some eastern language this affect is doubled.

Over-designed garbage is, indeed, just over-designed garbage. No one admires anything but the price tag (but certainly not you for shelling out so much on jewelry.)

Diver watches, military watches, astronaut watches and any other watch designed for some activity that you don't actually engage in is about as embarrassing as wearing medals you got out of a milsurp shop.

All of you should put away your gaudy wrist dinner plates, your rusted Etsy bullshit, your vapid attempts at a personality and surrender to the only appropriate time-keeping device: your phone.

Are you really telling me that in all that time, there has come out just one (1) traditionally sized men’s watch from a brand with pedigree, that’s also affordable? As long as you don't have the desire to physically hurt or kill someone, do what fucking moves you. Godspeed blessed wealth enjoyer.
I'm not that wealthy, but I took the family and being a father path. Sometimes I wish I didn't.

We're all slaves anon, once we stop struggling against them we can start to enjoy the crumbs our masters allow us to have.

I figured out what the movement was, at this point I just want to know if the bracelet is fixed or not. I think it would look bretty gud with a nice blue or black leather strap.

I only want to bang hookers and do what I like, but it looks like I'll have to get married to pass my belongings on to someone. Sometimes I'd like to be divorced with adult children already

Yema fag here. Decided to learn watch repair as a hobby. Here are some various nasty old watches I got on ebay for 20 bucks, going to learn how to service clean relubricate but if any of these have serious issues I doubt I can help them. They all seem to run OK atm.
