>>17635221They're pretty good, I've got 1725, 1740, 1828, Ambre 114, and Noir Patchouli travel bottles. 1828 is a nice fresh citrus, the licorice note in 1725 isn't really strong which is nice, it is well blended, 1740 is a smooth amber/leather/woody scent, Ambre 114 almost has a bug spray note for a few minutes but it dies down and the drydown is nice, Noir Patchouli is...patchouli

SOTD rocking The Noir 29 after the gym. Shit smells divine: the longevity is average ish. I still smell it off my neck and I’m about 5-6 hours in so if it’s for an event or date it’s perfect. Got it off Le labos sampler. Annoyed as shit that Santal 33 is in a dabber though. Might get an individual sprayer sample online of it cause I still love the scent. Also to the other anon a few threads ago asking about bergemonte 22. The performance is atrocious. (It was in the dabber but I can’t imagine spraying would have helped at all) smelt nice and piney/woody fwiw

Tried Al-Rehab Lord last night. This one's a throwaway for me. It just smells sickly sweet and radioactive just like joop homme and is very linear. It's this unpleasant chemical honey scent that overpowers everything else in this fragrance. I feel like I've smelled it somewhere before and I seriously hope that's not it smelling like TLPH because I'd like to try that at some point too.Thankfully at $6.50 for a 6ml oil Dakar is easily worth the price I paid for both.

hello i just bought every single Zara fragrance they had in the online store, for 110 euros total lmaoi'm scamming myself but i wanted to try them>city line>days of the week time>gold/silver/night
Looking for a niche brand. They are not MCDI, but they had an inset greco-roman design plaque on the front of their bottles. Similar price range as well.

>>17635568>>17635590i'm looking for something a bit more unique. I recently got mitsouko but it smells too dated for my liking. Might be tempted by lancome but I'm worried it'll be a bit too cloying? Any good niche recs?
>grab the Kenzo Homme edt bottle>nice grip on the hand, like the bamboo design>now spraying 20 times on body>starts floral, aquatic, sharp-fresh, no sweetness>after some minutes the pine and some dry woods come through>i'm clicking my olfactory heels in the air>later the creamy sandalwood comes through and praising it for it's greatness
>>17635634sweet? honey? i think they duped you and filled something else in there. smells like a classic soapy scent to me, no sweetness at all.>>17635662>too datedfiltered
>>17635304I layer 20 sprays of Sauvage Elixir with 20 sprays of Sauvage Elixir.
>>17635404Still Dior or Chanel, although it might take a while. The mainstream shit is currently so neutered and similar that perfumers really don't feel a need to create something unique or new anymore. Just reiterations of previously created stuff.>>17635415Checking out Chanel, Guerlain or Dior even works for women, they got some of the best releases. Other than that, my gf has been enjoying the Francesca Bianchi discovery set and will likely buy Under My Skin and she currently wears Costume National Scent Intense EdP. The latter would fit the bill perfectly.>>17635443You've said that the previous 3 threads already.>>17635634It's a TLPH clone. Honey and urinal cake is what TLPH is. If you only got the honey, get TLPH for the full experience (gotta get that urinal cake smell), or straight Kouros if you prefer piss over urinal cake.
>>17635667>honey?Bro pls. It's sweet as shit. Both tlph and kouros which it takes inspiration from are also honey frags. It's also soapy as fuck which combined with the sweetness makes it smell like the worst kind of floor cleaner. It's ridiculously sweet. Again, instantly reminded me of joop homme.

>>17635404>Who will release the next big/iconic fragance?Hard to tell. Fragrances literally losing on popularity, the Jeremy hypetrain is over. More and more people are into avoiding chemicals in cosmetics. >>17635404no idea. it's been a long time since anything really new caught onH24 seems to not have been a hit, but it was a valiant attempt to make something different as a brand new men's releaseSauvage Elixir got some hype, so maybe we'll see an oriental fougere rebirth? the new Dior Hommes seem more like followers than trend settersI wonder what Chanel's next move will be. they were the ones creating the big trend last time (blue fragrances), so maybe they'll do it again? Bleu was released in 2010, the time is ripe
>>17635783Not really planning to buy more, but I have these already. I mainly wear Ganymede socially but like to have a variety of cheaper things for when I'm alone. Will probably just stick with the OG SWY since it feels a bit more all season.

>>17635788>I wonder what Chanel's next move will be. they were the ones creating the big trend last time (blue fragrances), so maybe they'll do it again? Bleu was released in 2010, the time is ripemaybe something for fall/winter because i don't ever see western men going for something other than blue in summerblue is fresh and fruity and aquatic and that's what 80% of men are drawn to: the sea, the lake, the holiday what could ever dethrone it? an EDT that smells like a city for men on the grindset?
>>17635803maybe we ran out of scents there's only so many you can mix
>>17635778it's really good. not super similar to the original EDT, but shares some DNA with it. I think it's a much better rum fragrance than Bentley Intensea little expensive but, just as the other Dior parfums, it moggs most pseudo-niche like PdM or whatever in both scent and performance, so the value isn't horrible
if you don’t like this fragrance it’s unlikely to be in your price bracket anyway
opinions on the new Fragrantica voting system?
>>17635804blue fragrances aren't really aquatics though, more like post-aquatics. I think they'll lose popularity eventually, since I've already seen Sauvage and even BdC memed on by normies a bityou can also go green for fresh fragrances or soapy or ozonic or full-on aquatic. there is a lot of choice, it doesn't have to be citrus and ambroxan
>>17635805We haven't run out, but the interest in researching new compounds is limited. Research costs money and doesn't guarantee results, so why do research as long as people still buy the current products?
>>17635810At how many thumbs down votes does it hide reviews? The censorship is the only thing that matters. I don't give a rat's ass about the balloons. Often times somebody posts "Am I the only one or does Naxos really smell like Cool Water" or some shit like that and gets a million balloons, despite obviously having a defective nose.
>>17635814>since I've already seen Sauvage and even BdC memed on by normies a bitactual average joe normie or already in the field normie?because the average man where i live barely showers, imagine actually wearing a cologne
>>17635810i don't like this sitei always end up reading the reviews and half of them are snobs and the other half retardsand you can't tell witch is witch
>>17635826If we are being honest... There is nothing really "wrong" about being a snob about perfume. It's the sort of thing that deserves a discriminating taste.
>>17635804>>17635814Resurgence of traditional aquatics like Kenzo EDTI hope
>>17635828lmao
>>17635832No, we will have a return to mossy chypres now that acceptable oakmoss ingredients can be isolated.
>>17635684>Costume National Scent Intense thank you so much for the rec I will definitely check it out! Looks great :) >>17635795ty for the rec. nice to see a more affordable tom ford frag!>>17635667honestly mitsouko just smells like a musty dusty aromatics elixir, which is the perfume my dad wore his whole life. I wanted to like it but it doesn't suit me.
>>17635823more like trendy instagram fashion normiesI'm sure the average person still thinks they smell good, but once the young, hip and trend obsessed start posting about "that one indian guy who reeks of Sauvage", it signals the beginning of the endI also took one girl out for a fragrance store date and she said that "sauvage is for basic fuckboys", despite not being too well-versed in perfume at all.I have no doubt that the market will move away from the oversaturated blue fragrances sometime soon, I just wonder what the next trend will be
>>17635836>nice to see a more affordable tom ford fragyeah the pricing on his normal line is much more reasonable. I think Black Orchid is also better than the vast majority of private blends
>>17635836Your dad wore aromatics elixir? How bold...
>>17635826My bigger annoyance is that it is very normalfag in general. More still that although niche things are certainly getting reviewed by VERY different groups than best selling designers, they are rated on the same scales and looking at numbers alone tell you nothing.
>>17635838>sauvage is for basic fuckboysfrom a woman, that's a compliment i still wear AdG and i remind them of their uncles
>>17635838>but once the young, hip and trend obsessed start postingyeah but why do you care about the opinion of teens? you trying to fuck jailbait?from street tests on women in their 20s, the "classics" still reign supreme>chanel blue>sauvage>gio profumo>versace eros/homme
>>17635852None of these are close to being classic. C'mon we aim a bit higher in these threads, do keep up...
>>17635857you didn't notice the quotation marks you retard?
>>17635852>yeah but why do you care about the opinion of teens?because they are the future and their opinions reflect what the fragrance landscape will be in 5 years. besides, the girl was 23 and still identified Sauvage as "that basic fuckboy fragrance" completely unpromptedI'm sure some people in the 90s said Joop! and CK Eternity will always be the most popular, mass pleasing perfumes out there. in the 80s they said this about Drakkar Noir, in the late 2000s, about 1 Million.as hit fragrances get oversaturated, knocked off 20 times and worn by every indian taxi driver out there, they become less desirable and the market will move on to something new. it's always been like this
>>17635857wait, bleu de chanel isn't a classic blue fragrance?
>>17635865what do you think the inspiration will be? i mean, physically what place will they be inspired from? whats a place men like to be and are drawn to?maybe the smell of the peak of a mountain? but for summer?
>>17635866It will be if it isn't already, given that it has the "defined / started a trend" box checked.
ok guys, it's 30 degrees already heredoes a blue or neroli fragrance for around 20 yuropoor exist? i like the sea scent too
>>17635868could also be forests. but I don't think even blue fragrances are all that marine or aquatic, true aquatics like ADG were big a bit earlier than thatthe next trend could be more abstract for all we know. think of Baccarat Rouge 540 - very popular and trendy, yet hard to pin down for many people. all the Bisch frags people keep memeing are pretty weird and abstract toomaybe the future is abstract and "molecular"? dior Homme 2020, H24 and the popularity of Escentric Molecules could point in this direction, we'll see if this trend reaches true mass appeal
>>17635872JeP Neroli Intense is a great Neroli scent for 10$. after he smelled my bottle, my friend just bought it to replace his TF Neroli Portofino because he's almost out and they smell very similar lmao

>>17635877>JeP Neroli Intensety friendis there something similar but with a salt scent added? or am i expecting too much for 20 euros?
Can someoelne de-autism the Kenzo homme meme already?
>>17635880Who are these "most people"? The ones buying the roughly one million clones of it? Or somebody else? I've heard now that it smells like sweat, cough syrup, medicine, disinfectant, etc. but in the end it sells like hotcakes and so do its clones.
>>17635883you would have had a chance a while ago but not with the recent price increases. JeP also offers "acqua", and although it isn't necessarily salty, you might like the marine/blue aspect of it.
>>17635883can't think of any cheap salty neroli frags. maybe you could layer it with something if you want
>>17635887well we know that popular doesn't mean goodlook at the state of entertainment a perfume just needs to be shilled on social media to become trendy, even if the people wearing it despise it
>>17635884>de-autismwhat do you mean by that?personally I don't like them much and think they smell kind of weird. Kenzo EDP smells like leather and pickles to me. my mom violently hates it lol, it does perform well at leastBI is better, might get a bottle at some point. maybe when my Terre d'Hermes runs out because they'd fit the same "versatile modern spicy woodsy frag" role in my rotation even though they don't smell particularly similar

>>17635901gigantic circlejerk. popular = bad so everything positive must be downvoted. niche but popular = good so everything negative must be downvoted. if shit gets downvoted too much, fragrantica hides it. as a result, you can easily sway the opinion in the comments/reviews of a fragrance and many large brands do so. it probably only needs like 10-15 accounts to hide a review. hiding the review doesn't change the vote of the person, though, as a result there might be a disconnect between the reviews and votes/rating for a fragrance.

>>17636111there's nothing wrong with liking aventus. I own a bottle and save it for special occasions. I'm not really sure why people think it underperforms or smells significantly worse now, and those who avoid it due to popularity also overstate how common it is in the wild. I have yet to smell it on someone else. I also avoid wearing it to the office because it projects way too much for an enclosed space.the only real crime is that the price is way higher than it needs to be -- completely taking advantage of the popularity in the community.I will say that I was underwhelmed when I first got the bottle, but after a month or so it matured (macerated?) into something completely different.

>>17635941yeah they had better bottles in the past. it's been some time since i tried them but i'll try to remember. the smell of weather turning was alright but not very memorable. it was grassy-minty as far as i remember. "death & decay" was very interesting, super heavy dark flowers on the brisk of rotting. my personal favorite is breath of god, it's very weird and hard to describe. it's bitter, flowery, woody with a tad of non-sweet melon. fun fact: it's a mix of exhale & inhale, the parfumeur had the idea to mix the two scents during a trip to tibet, although at first exhale & inhale were meant to be polar opposites. i want to buy breath of god eventually, hoping that one day there'll be a sale. check out your nearest city if they have a store, i was surprised by how many stores they have here.i tested a bunch of their other scents and while i don't remember any specifics to tell you, they're far more interesting and sometimes daring than majority of designers, dare i say even modern cdg.

bought a used bottle of this that was like 90/100ml full for 20 eurobucks with shipping and it's the best fragrance I've owned.
>>17636469Any better alternatives with the musk & oakmoss drydown?
>>17636300Can you describe it in an "accord" kind of way? Floral, sweet, animalic, etc? Just sprayed my sample of that stuff to get an idea myself but the most noticeable one for me is leather, although not the "realistic" leather, but the kind of leather that's in e.g. Dior Homme Parfum, and something animalic in the background with honey and soapy aldehydes if I inhale deeply up close.

>>17636111>I love the Aventus DNA, any alternatives?Yeah a clone that smells exactly the same, L'aventure intense.

>>17636546>Is the Gold Blend flanker on the sweet side?Similar fresh like Polo Blue, it's more fruity. The green apple is the main player in Gold blend. Imagine you mix Rasasi Hawas/Invictus Aqua with the original Polo Blue.
>>17636547this shit really last like they say it does, or is that previous formulations?
>>17636551>more fruity. The green apple is the main playerNot a safe blindbuy for me, I'm afraid. Will try to find a tester before. Thanks anon.
I need a fresh/mature summer fragrance. I have Aventus but every faggot wears it now or some shitty clone of it. Shame because I really like it. I was looking at Aqua di Parma Mediterranean range (the amalfi fig one specifically) but apparently they have very shit performance. I want something that ideally can be smelled by others, on a hot summer night. Any recs?
>>17636427Wife is actually the one who can't last. That's why I locked her up in the first place, retard.
>>17636506I really can't describe it. I'm an ESL and was never good with words anyways. It smells like cyanide to me, and not in a bad way, but I doubt anyone in here knows what that's like. I just make the cyanide association, because that's what it reminds me of. Nothing else comes to mind. It's not the leather note.
>>17636564doesn't cyanide smell like bitter almonds?actually could be a good idea for a fragrance. eau de cyanide or something
Friendly reminder:https://old.reddit.com/r/LifeProTips/comments/13qun5m/lpt_skip_the_perfume_before_you_get_on_a_flight_a/
>>17636561Terre d'Hermes, 20 spraysbut unironically though, it's one of the few fresh fragrances that last well on me and it is mature. has a similar fruity and smoky contrast going on to Amogus, though it's not similar at all otherwise
>>17636541Is it better than Aventus? If no, why should someone bother?>>17636561Yeah, Aventus was hyped in the US, now every fuckboi, arab, normie discover Aventus in Europe. Horrible.Tested alot of blues, freshies etc. Most smell boring. I always come back full circle to Drakkar Noir/Dakar.Somewhat similar mossy backbone like Aventus, but more greener while still citrusy fresh.St Giles The Tycoon is a good alternative too, but more appropriate for preppy guys.
>>17636583>Is it better than Aventus? If no, why should someone bother? It lasts longer and projects better, and is cheaper. Also smells exactly the same.So why spend more?
I have a 2ml sample of Bois imperial and a full bottle of a recent batch and they don't smell the same at all. The first one smells peppery and more spicy , and the newer bottle smells more green and dry Both wonderful, but im surprised about the difference. I'm aware of the reformulation but everyone says it's exactly the same. Anyone here with a same experience?
>>17636605could be that the small sample sprayer emphasises different qualities of the scent when sprayed on skinI've had this happen with Dior Homme Parfum I think, where the bottle I got seemed more smoky and more heavy on the leather to me
I like TdH so I got a sample of H24.I wanted to like it bros, I gave it a wear on my skin but it's just horrible. It reminds me of a dry cleaners smell.
>>17636611yeah they're not very similar. should have tried Voyage instead, or DeclarationH24 seems to me like it isn't trying to smell natural or nature-reminiscent like the Ellena stuff, it's trying to be abstract and synthetic
>>17636564I'm a chemist, so I roughly remember what cyanide smells like, but it's less almond-y to me. More cherries. The closest one to that vibe is actually L'Homme Ideal EdP. The common notes between that one and Lover's Tale are the bulgarian rose and leather. I still think it might be some kind of leather, so it might be the rose/leather combination (also found in DHP). So I guess check out L'Homme Ideal EdP (and maybe DHP) to narrow it down further? There are many fragrance compounds which trigger the almond (or cherry) smell association besides cyanides, e.g. benzaldehyde or nitrobenzene. In fact, nitrobenzene was the best cherry smell I've ever smelled (and I probably shouldn't have smelled it).
>>17636607How can that be possible? A matter of maceration of evaporation of certain molecules inside the sample? The sample seems to last less on skin and be more dense, so maybe the base notes appear quicker
>>17636568Gonna wear 40 sprays of Neroli Intense so they can't say whether it's a wet wipe they're smelling or a fragrance. If these people knew where the bleed air they're breathing came from, they'd have massive headaches and severe nausea and whatever else imaginary autosuggested shit they get when the air isn't filtered 40 times.
>>17636612declaration is nice but not something i want myself to smell like
>>17636615>maybe the base notes appear quickeryeah I assume it's something like that, because the sprays are so small or something and the fragrance evaporates more qicklyit was basically the same with DHP, the sample just skipped past the smoky leather opening quicker and got to the rose and the sandalwood base ASAP
>>17636615keep in mind that sample sprayers can smell too, a bunch of my decants have a slightly fishy smell to them. fishy plastic...>>17636616douse in 4711 and drink it too. i gotta try the drink this summer

>>17636640You can absolutely smell cyanide and not die. Just because it's above the detection threshold doesn't mean it's already toxic. I didn't really put my nose to it and sniffed it, but you sometimes will catch a whiff of it. In fact, I'm more worried about my total nitrobenzene exposure.

do fragrances actually "macerate"
>>17637068nta but bro you just suggested a sugary sweet ultra male clone after somebody who wears new york intense was looking into buying lyric man, onyx and portrait of a lady. it would be better if you stuck around for a while and closed that youtube tab with the top 10 designer clones.
>>17637080and?
>>17637077Never happened to any of my bottles. Some changed a little in smell, but none of the magic performance increases or whatever actually happened. Grand Soir apparently turns green with age, but that's about it. If you asked me, maceration is a meme and entirely brain-related (just like half of the reformulations).
>>17637083and what? you have to understand the level at which you are suggesting fragrances. you're suggesting a department store shelf filler clone to someone looking to buy a bunch of faux-niche overpriced smelly waters instead of another bottle of nyi. the disconnect is strong.

Lots of hype for the Kenzo line, so I tested all three on my skin and honestly I'm not very impressedEDP is pretty good, but it seems like it'd be too heavy and sweet for summer, can anyone confirm?Intense is fine, smells like figs and aquatic notes, but there's something in there that smells medicinal, almost like camphorEDT is different from both, fairly inoffensive fresh aquatic, is this all the 90s Kenzo hype is about though? It's good but not amazing.Anyway, my gf told me EDP fit me very well so I'll wear it a few more times, but I expected better

>>17637393idk if it has that much hype, except for that one terminally online guy who can't eat salty crackers without thinking about licking feetthey're okay, but I don't really like aquatics. the EDP smells like pickles and sweaty skin to me, not in a super bad way but a little odd
