>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them an

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good

Some of the best cowboy boots are made in Mexico, uses exotic leathers and they are some of the highest quality footwear you can buy in the price range, implying that you like cowboy boots. Thursday just uses shit materials, with low quality control, meaning shit wages and using gray market workers or subcontracting from other factories.

They are making a killing, honestly I think that each pair costs less than 30 dollars to make, the rest is marketing, logistics and paid shills

Avoid that fucking brand, I won't buy anything from them in my fucking life
>>
>>17534685
>>
>>17534838
[citation needed]
why can't any of these other brands make price comparable boots if these only cost $30 to make?
are you telling me that the overheads for other companies justifies charging twice the price?
>>
>>17534702
If anyone actually owns these... how is the quality? Apparently Rick sourced the leather, so they might be okay, but, the shittiness of docs is a lot deeper than just the leather being utter garbage.

I would never buy these disgusting """boots""" but I'm curious as to how they are. The price of them is utterly ludicrous.

Thursdays are targeted for the international market for the average burguer that listens to YouTubers, similar boots that are made in Mexico are sold in Mexican brick and mortar shops for around the equivalent of 30-40 USD with pretty much the same quality but completely different designs obviously

They are able to maintain the current prices because of that

It's baffling to see that people are falling for that brand, they are being tricked
>>
For anyone reading this thread with half a brain: Take a moment and actually look at the OP image.
OP claims Thursday's are ugly, and then posts a bunch of boots that look exactly the same. Why is that?
The reason is boot fags are massively insecure, and I can't wait for the seething to start.
See Thursdays are pretty dogshit quality wise. Quality control is non existent, welts tear off, boots will be different sizes, leather will have huge discolorations, etc. And there are anons who solely tear into Thursday because of their quality issues, and that's fine.

Notice that's not what OP is going after. There are other anons that will try and tell you Thursday makes ugly boots, and will then show you boots that look very, very similar to Thursdays. Not exactly the same of course, but close. Thursday boots hurt bootfags egos because deep down they don't give a flying fuck about quality, the overwhelming majority don't work a job or live a lifestyle that necessitates a hard wearing boot. So when they drop $600 and then Thursday makes a boot that looks the same for $200, they fucking seethe. After all, their boots were made to order! They had to wait eight months for some twelfth generation cordwainer to make the boot and that means it's a masterpiece that will clearly show off their superiority everywhere! Meanwhile Esmeralda in cartel country is banging out multiple boots per hour while chain smoking, watching a telenovela in the background and wolfing down tacos and getting an even bigger gunt than before. The boot she makes will fall apart if you think about it, but it looks like the same as the grandmasters boot.

Yes Thursdays are horrible boots, but only due to QC issues. The reality is they make boots that look as good as vastly more expensive models and the people who paid for more expensive brands can't stand it,so they expose themselves with dumb shit like this he OP.
>>
>>17534935
>Cont

And the problem with this is QC issues are fixable with time, money and experience. I don't think anyone managing Thursday gives a flying fuck though, they aren't going to change their model because their boots sell and sell well.
If they did fix the issues, it would mean that you could buy a boot for $200 (realistically probably increasing up to $250 to pay for fixing production issues) that aesthetically competes with boots at least three to four times that price.

So when someone is bitching about Thursday, take a step back and see what they are actually complaining about.
>>
>>17534692
Hahaha so you're short AND poor is what you're saying, and rather than accepting the height issue and fixing the monetary you're trying to hide both.

So pain/discomfort at the tip of the big toe = size too small, and discomfort anywhere else = boots need to broken in?
>>
>>17535291
>tip of the big toe
your foot should never touch the front so it would be too small. pinky toe pain can be removed by breaking in but can also be too narrow or too small. pain at the top of the foot can mean wrong size, heel slip can mean too big or too small. you boot may also fit in the morning but not in the afternoon
I'm not even joking. it just depends

What's your guys' ideal boot fit? I was issued 10 reg combat boots in the military but they eventually started feeling loose in the section above the heel, same with this pair of Golden Fox "Overlord"s that were in my low budget range. Tried size 9 Wolverine "Kilometer"s but they gripped the size of my foot too tightly and the leather of the heel burnished into a squeaky surface. I currently have trust issues over keeping a pair of size 9.5s, worried I'll be let down again after they've broken in.
>>
>>17535691
Whites 55 last for me. Plenty a toe wiggle room while remaining snug and comfy through the waist and heel. The fit through the heel really makes a big difference compared to other brands

I feel a bit of pain at the top of the foot, since I have a really thick, muscular feet for some reason, probably thanks to the gym.

/btg/ i need advice. I need a good pair of boots that will last me a long time. I have been researching for maybe 4 months now and the only boot that I keep going back to is Nick's ridgeline (pic rel). The price is steep, but it is something I can afford (the sales rep also said they do sales around Easter time, too).

My question: what am I getting into if i buy these? I see so much discourse on Nick's, White's, Frank's, Sneed's, etc. Any other boot I look at I compare to the ridgelines and I always place them above any other boot. I do not own any other pairs of boots, so it would suck ass to buy these and have them come out shitty or something, does anyone have experience with these? Any general advice? thanks :)

>I do not own any other pairs of boots
>I need a good pair of boots that will last me a long time

>>
>>17536113
i like to walk outside and hike, i want to do that more since i can do that now, likewise my only other pair of shoes are white NMDs. Not ideal for all applications, this is something long overdue.

Pretty much just something durable to wear other than my white sneakers.
>>
>>17536114
You're going to spend $600 on hyper durable boots just to walk around in?
>>
>>17536111

>>
>>17536114
White's has a sale right now. Fulton, Chore boot, or Hillyard should all suit your needs.
>>
>>17536119
>hyper durable boots

That's a big reason why I am so drawn to them, they not only look good but will, from what I can tell, last a long time. Yes it's a lot, but I will get a lot out of them as well. Since I will mostly be "just walking around," wouldn't I want a pair that will last a while? Like I said, every other boot i look at doesn't compare, I want these boots but the price is a little jarring, just spitballing and seeing if anyone has other ideas.

>>17536120
What makes whites better than Nick's? The sale that >>17536121 is talking about looks good, but why does /fa/ like white's over nick's? Or rather, why do we put nick's lower than most other handmade brands?

what is your most unique boot? it could be a unusual color, leather, or anything else you can think of.
>>
>>17536127
Nigs literally started after stealing from Whites

Whites does a unique rolled handwelt that folds an additionally layer of leather over the welt stitch. Plus the arch ease is unparalleled.

Recently nigs launched their tactical boot line which consists of a full rubber insole/midsole/outsole at leather prices, a literal ripoff
>>
>>17536127
https://www.stitchdown.com/the-stitchdown-conversation/franks-boots/

I trust the original. The guy running Niggs has an MBA and you know what that means. "Streamlining".
They don't stitch the insole down anymore, they've removed many custom boot options, and it's only a matter of time until they start swapping leather to leatherboard or compressed cardboard like Wesco has done. Without reducing the price of course.
>>
>>17536127
>>17536138
FYI that article is the former Niggs manager talking. His brother was the owner. He won't say directly but it doesn't sound like he got along with Mr. MBA.

So... In a guide like this the CM describes the foot length that the shoe fits, not the length of the insole/boot? Meaning if my feet are 28cm for example then I should simply take a 10.5 UK, not go for like a 11UK because I'm trying to make sure I get enough room for the toes.
>>
>>17536731
Depends on the brand, my feet are 28.2cm and I am normally 10.5UK and EU45.
I only have a single pair of US shoes and they are US11 but it's on Alden's trubalance last which is generally very roomy overall.

Anyway that chart is probably based on foot length, not insole length. So for me C&J is somewhere between UK10.5 and 11

I've generally heard that for high end British brands like C&J, Edward Green and Gaziano & Girling (and Italy's Meccariello) the correct size is usually 0.5 more than other GYW brands like Carmina, TLB etc so it makes sense
>>
>>17536731
In C&J guide the CM roughly describes the foot length that the shoe fits, its not the insole length. But with C&J most lasts are TTS so just get your US brannock measurement and subtract 1 from it.

What's the best way to store boots for summer without them getting mold or anything like that?

I'm thinking of putting them in their boxes and storing them at the bottom of my wardrobe, not taking them to the garage, because I've seen so many photos of people finding mold and shit after taking their leather shoes out of storage

Maybe I should throw in one of those "do not eat" moisture absorbing packets?
>>
>>17536738
Any place with little humidity. If you live in a very humid climate you might want to store them someplace else since most garages aren't insulated and moisture will crawl in.
>>
>>17536731
My feet are 28.5cm and 10uk/44.5eu is tight for me, but I have still up to 1cm of free space left in front of my big toe. Get 11uk/45eu if you are planning to wear thick wool socks with your boots.
>>
>>17536819
UK11 will be too big for 28cm feet, UK10.5 at most but most C&J boot lasts are generous enough in toe depth and width anyway so UK10 should work out fine as they were designed with thick socks in mind.

The recent explosion of """"alpine boots""" has all the trademark signatures of being a highfashion ploy to sell chinkshit to the masses. This general is excellent about mocking them but sometimes you have you encourage an idiot to make a dumb purchase so he'll regret it and learn to hate the jew.

If you didn't read that, good. Fuck you, buy White's. The wait time for new boots isn't long enough yet.
>>
>>17538048
Even from the top down those look in dire need of a resoling. You should have taken them to the cobbler and let him bring them back to life. Also that color ain't even close to the 875's, are you colorblind? Should have used colorless polish, cream or whatever you used. And to top it off you should have stopped before covering both boots whole.
Try to wash them with saddle soap or even dish soap. Make sure to dry them out thoroughly and recondition withcolorless stuff. Although a bit of tint is due to stay on.

Fit is good apart from a bit tight instep, UK10 in TTS norfhampton stuff, US11 brannock, i took EU45 in these, worked out well. pros of unstructured: more vertical clearance, better looking

the horsehide will crease in a fine manner anyways

Basically like poor nigger stretching their Timbs.

Did you say big toe knuckle?

Neither Carmina, EG, JL, CJ, Antonio Meccariello or any big name shoemakers have the toe celastic to the big toe knuckle.

This post might just expose White’s as being a retarded manufacturer.

That part is not called the knuckle. Okay so Whites is not so retarded after all. Sounds more like to me:
>Fat toe, big volume anon get cucked by Big shallow toe box.

Same shit as the other anon said, you deformed your boots just to fix your problem instead of finding a better toe box fit boots.

Am*ric*n manufacturing, everyone.

Coming from 8 years of reddit desert boots, I'm looking for something new now. I don't like boots that are too bulky, something similar to desert boots would be cool, but an upgrade from my current meme shoes.

Any ideas?

Yes, but I shouldn't have to fix $400 boots less than 3 months after I got them because I decided I was going for a movie and a walk. If they got damage from that little wear, I'm worried how much it will have in half a year. Fortunately, Grant Stone agree, which tells me someone just fucked up on my one boot.
