Your shirt collar is too small for your neck, that's why you can't button it comfortably and had to do that sloppy shit with the tie. Your tie knot is fucked up, I mean really fucked up. The resolution on your pic is so low that it's obscuring details on your suit but I think your suit is too tight in the torso as well. This probably sounds like I'm being a picky ass and I sort of am, it's a 6/7 out of 10 now that you can potentially elevate several points in the future. As it stands you still look good, you just have the capability to look better.

>I’ve been doing a lot of neck workouts and I couldn’t get the top button to close

So....like I said your collar is too small for your neck. Relax, I've got a similar issue, I've got a goddamn slavic bull neck thanks to (((genetics))). If I buy. 15.5/36 shirt it fits my torso fine but I can't button the neck, if I buy a 16.5/36 the neck is good but now the torso is loose unless I get an extra slim fit and then shit gets wonky.

Here's what I use, by these and thank me later:

12pcs, Collar Extenders, Comfy & Premium Invisible Neck Extender, Adds 1 in Instantly, Button Extenders for Mens Dress Shirts Suits Trouser, Coat, Shirts (Black, White, Silver) https://a.co/d/6qzc3ga

They attach to your collar button and basically give you an extra inch to your collar. That way you can "button" your collar all the way, and then they will be completely hidden by your tie.

I put thought into outfits sure, but the thing is with “fashion” is that everyone overthinks it and does shit that doesn’t make sense. That’s why I said I think fashion is gay. Looking good and making a nice outfit is an art equivalent to painting or sculpting. Problem is that people think putting on a statement piece (or worse multiple statements pieces), makes them some sort of fucking diva/fashion guru. I wouldn’t describe it as fashion, more as an extension of aesthetics that you wear. In the past the word meant something. Now you get some idiot that buys white sneakers, wears a belt with a suit, and put 3 fashion colors together and thinks he looks good. The ugly truth is that just like other arts, 99.9% of people don’t look good and don’t have anything original to make. Fashion like other arts has rules, which many would do well to remember.
>>
>>17532797

Keep away fag. If I wear pastels and have whole cut pants, and wear pearls of course it’s gonna look more fruity. I’m off work today nigger, I’m not trying to wear my suit and tie.
>>17532922
>fits
Yeah that’s how I know you don’t know what you’re talking about. I work as a a tailor/designer. Half my job is about fit. The pants are a whole cut, reminiscent of the pants worn in the 30s. They’re high waisted as well which is contrary to what most people think “fits”. The shoes are shoes so whatever. My jacket is pret-a-porter so yeah no shit it’s not gonna fit like a custom made garment, however its a 36 shoulder with a 33 chest measurement which is my exact sizing. The tank it a fucking tank my nigga. Please explain where it doesn’t fit.
>clashing. I’m sorry, I didn’t know blue, white, and cream didn’t go together. I’ll make sure to tell the whole fashion industry that 400 years of precedent is wrong.
If you don’t like the outfit fine, I’m not butt hurt about it, but please refrain from spewing out bullshit you know nothing about.

You're going to have so many people living rent free in your head, your brain will have to be reclassified as an apartment complex.

Not the previous anons, I think the fit is good, high waisted pants rock and the color pallette is great apart from the shoes, you knew that already. But reeeeeing about all this shit, saying fashion is gay, calling other people fags and niggers, and then wearing a giant set of 1950s housewife pearls is slightly....off.

I really am open to constructive criticism, and I don’t really care if people do or don’t like my outfits or not. I simply hate when people have retarded reasons and make shit up. Tell me you don’t like the outfit, and say your mind, don’t tell me some horseshit about fit or something. As far as calling fashion gay, I don’t mean it in a literal sense, I use gay as a pejorative. The mindset a lot of people have about fashion is wrong. I don’t care if you can dress or not, but the fact that people larp as a “fashionista” or some shit, and the fact that a certain kind of person does that leads ironically to people calling fashionable people “gay”, this time in the literal sense.

Not everything is a gay psyop. Pearls are historically for men and women. Not my fault liberalism caused men’s fashion to become black, white, and navy with zero jewelry. I don’t give a shit if you think I’m gay, you’re just limiting your own wardrobe and are keeping fashion boring.

Anon, you're going to need to be WAY more specific.

Turtleneck + sport coat is a staple of italian menswear. It also serves the purpose of bringing down the formality of the jacket a notch.

High waisted straight leg denim and blazers are commonplace within the Ivy/Prep and italian industrialist subgenre of classic menswear and again, they make the jacket less intimidating (notice the lack of pocket square, btw).

The mocs are the winter equivalent of penny loafers and comfy as hell, while still retaining some degree of smartness over a sneaker and, most importantly, without being as stuffy as a classic leather shoe.

Colored socks are fun, colors in general make me happy. They also go exceptionally well together, create an interesting contrast with the black background of the jacket and match the scarf perfectly.

Why should the top match the bottom? This ain't a suit, it's a "spezzato", again, another mainstay of italian fashion.

Anything else that went over your head, my confused friend? I can do this all day.

If you're trying to tell me that basic health and safety measures which have been proven effective at limiting the spread of disease are "brainwashing" then idk if we can have a productive discussion.

These are very basic and apolitical facts about the way our world physically operates. Same reason I wear a seatbelt in my car.

Science tells us things, we're supposed to learn and adapt and grow. That's what a human being is. There is perfectly good unbiased apolitical data saying that wearing a mask lowers the spread of disease within societies.

Look I get it you wanna be a based contrarian or whatever, and roll around in your pig shit and tell yourself you're superior because you've disguised your inability to understand science or learn new things as an "immunity to brainwashing" and you've decided to form an identity around your stupidity and ignorance.

Naples bro, arguing with anons is like wrestling with a pig in mud. You're just going to get angry, dirty and tired, and the pig is going to like it.

I'm sure you've seen it by now but so many of the posters are completely unable/unwilling to accept that there is a difference between their opinion and fact. If they don't like a fit, style, trend, etc, it's wrong. Rather than viewing this thread as an opportunity to learn, grow, be inspired, etc they view it as a need to be "right" and they just tell more and more angry as time goes on because the bulk of fashion is subjective. They lack the intelligence and emotional maturity to accept that people can like things they don't without their lives being negatively affected and they can't stand the fact trends aren't permanent rules. Certain anons also go nuts when other anons post outfits that garner compliments because in their head they are anon A, and if anon B doesn't dress like anon A he must be dumb and the people saying anon B looks good are dumb because that must mean anon A doesn't look good because A looks different than B. They are massively egotistical and self centered and perceive any deviation from their taste as a threat and insult. They won't ever leave the thread either, that's the best part. No one's forced anyone to come and post here wear but somehow they hold themselves hostage. The urge to make sure everyone knows that they are right is stronger than the urge to exit a thread where they aren't happy, so they are miserable and lash out for the sole purpose of trying to make other people as miserable as they are.

I'm sure this will cause some seething and people posting "huuuuurrrrrrrr too long didn't read fag" because lord knows straight white men can do everything except read 2000 characters so here's the summary.

Tldr: Don't argue with anons. They are sad, empty, and tasteless, they don't give two shits about fashion, they like arguing to try and make people feel miserable too.

The thing is that you're clean shaven and still have a shadow. You didn't remove your belly hair neither. All this nakes you look older for that style, which is essentially for edgy teens. Maybe it's time to reconsider your choices and tone your fit down a bit unless you're actually a rockstar (and no, playing rythm guitar on a local band at your city's pubs for beer money does not count).

and your arguments are fairly nonsensical too. this mostly consists of saying "well, it's popular in italian circles, so it's good automatically", which is really not true. why are italian circles automatically right on what is or isn't fashionable? why does them wearing something make it alright to wear it? you haven't really explained either of these, and it seems ridiculous to me to say something looks good just because it's popular in certain circles.
your argument about it making the jacket "less intimidating" is also ridiculous to me. firstly, the jacket doesn't look intimidating to me, and i doubt it does look intimidating to anyone. secondly, why should it look less "intimidating"? if one of the primary qualities of this style of jacket is that it's supposed to look intimidating, why curb that? the aesthetic qualities of a piece of clothing should be intensified or complemented by it's accompanying clothes, not randomly curbed and weakened. it just looks sloppy and mismatched to me. if you want a non-intimidating outfit, why don't you go all out on the dadcore? honestly speaking, this is just an empty argument and feels like either you convincing yourself that what you're wearing is good, or just mindlessly parroting what you read on fashion blogs.
>>
ignore the flyover bait above
>>
>>17535031

>if one of the primary qualities of this style of jacket is that it's supposed to look intimidating, why curb that?
Because elegance is context-sensitive and you might want to avoid looking like a tryhard and sticking out like a sore thumb in a room full of people wearing athleisure, cargo shorts, streetwear and overpriced sneakers made of plastic.

>why are italian circles automatically right on what is or isn't fashionable?
The influence of italian style on both female and male fashion worldwide, at all levels, over the past 100 years is irrefutable. It withstood the test of time and appealed to people from all walks of life spanning generations for a reason. It's basically timeless, which is exactly what you should be aiming for when putting together your wardrobe.

Furthermore, at the core of the italian approach to menswear there's the concept of being aware of, but not restricted by rules, something it shares with Ivy/prep to some extent, although in that case it was out of necessity, rather than being the result of a carefully weighted choice (nonetheless the two styles intertwine quite well because of that). The immanent yet feeble, nearly imperceptible and seemingly flowing transition between formal and casual that permeates the whole outfit. In almost every fit, there's gonna be an element antagonizing the overall degree of formality - be it a watch worn over the cuff of your shirt, some high quality, beaten up denim paired with a blazer, a button down with the collar buttons undone or hiking boots underneath a suit and so forth - thus turning it in a thought inducing, visual oxymoron.

It is the art of making one an individual without any garish and inelegant accompanying fanfare. It's there, you can't quite explain it, yet it feels natural, effortless, right. That's what we call "sprezzatura".

>none of these guys look good.
...and here I thought you were up for a constructive debate, turns out you were just trolling from the get go.

Are these sleeves too short? I'm so tired of looking for long sleeve shirts that fit. The large slim was great in the arms but boxy in the torso, and this medium slim is good in the torso and slightly short in the arms. Please tell me this is fine so I can stop looking.

I'd personally like an extra 2-3cm or an inch but you've got a great rugged frame and big arms so it's doesn't matter. If it's really hard to find shirts that fit your arms you could try stretching the sleeves while its wet.

What did you like about this fit, and what would you take away to apply to the next one?

>>17535269
No, they are too short and it looks bad. I'm sorry, I just don't want you to settle and listen to BS. I have the exact same problem, I'm thing and have long arms. You either need tall sizes (large tall/large long/42l) or shirts with collar and sleeve separate like 16x36. If you need help one where to find stuff like that at, let me know. I coped and rolled my sleeves until I was in my thirties and got mad enough to figure out how to fix my sleeve length issue.

Hreat, but if I may, I'm unsure about the jeans and boots. Maybe it's the lighting, but the jeans look crisp while the boots are clearly worn in and there's too much contrast between the two blacks.

Lol jesus christ. This absolutely radiates "I'm not like OTHER ((((girls))) I'm le quirky raaaawwwrrrr that means I love you in dinosaur!" energy. And to be clear I don't mean that in any way as a compliment.

I think you people are so absolutely buck broken and mind fucked that you'll do anything for attention, any kind of attention. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad, some logical part of you has to be alive under the delusions and BS you've cloaked yourself with as cope armor, and you have to know people are going to talk shit about you when you look like that and then post like a moron on top of that.

My personal theory is that you have to spend so much time in online echo chambers dedicated to maintaining the illusion and you all cosign each other's bullshit; this leads you to actually start believing it. You think you look good and you have a whimsical girlish personality, dozens if not hundreds of other delusional people on discord will trip over themselves to agree because that means they look good too, and you start buying the hype. I get that part, it's actually perversely logical.

What I don't get is why come *here*. Most of you aren't stupid, you have to know the reception you'll get. So why not stay in the echo chamber where everything is happy and there's no risk of getting sad and ACKing?

Look at the dude in this thread who's gender fluid or some shit, the guy with long hair who's pretty creative with his fits but wears skirts every now and then. It's not my style, but whatever. I don't give him any shit because he just shows up, shows his shit, comments on other people shit and keeps it moving.

You show up, act weird and don't even engage in the etiquette of commenting on anyone else's fits because you're so fucking self centered you can't deal with the thought of anyone else getting any attention but you. The fashion is completely irrelevant to you, especially everyone else's.

>Love the coat. Wonder how it'd look with your pleated denim trousers.

Thank you! I personally wouldn't wear the denim trousers with this particular sport coat because of the lack of contrast from either color or texture, I'm not a huge fan of all/mostly blue fits in general.

I do however have other tweed sport coats (I fucking love tweed, just bought two pair of tweed trousers and I'm about to get a Donegal tweed sport coat). I've got a dark loden green, a charcoal grey and a light tan tweed coat. I think the dark green coat , the pleated denim trousers and a chunky knit tie would be a good fit.

>Lack of contrast between the jeans.
Just to chime in on this I'd normally agree with it clashing but jeans and boots are a sort of exception. His boots have a sort of teacore effect from being worn, it's visually striking and you'd lose it as a focal point if the boots were closer in shade/tone to the jeans. I struggle with matching blacks and feeling comfortable in all black fits so I empathize with your struggle, but somehow black on black normally just works. Worst case scenario through a pair of brown boots on. My ass is decades behind and just figured out last year that brown and black really do look great together.

See pic related, you're less than an inch too short but you're still visible too short. And that's at rest, when you raise your arms it will look worse.
Rolling doesn't solve the problem, but it hides it in such a way that it looks like a conscious choice.
Go get measured by a tailor, or a friend with a brain, you can't do it accurately yourself. Once you know your sleeve length, buy shirts sized like this:

https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/us/non-iron-royal-oxford-shirt---ocean-blue/FON0219BLU.html?cgid=shirts-formal-shirts&pf=browse#cm_sp=HP-HeroCarousel_Business_Shirts&cgid=shirts-formal-shirts&start=1

Select your collar size, select your sleeve size, and pick how you want the torso to fit. Not saying get this exact shirt, just buy them sized like this in the future.
Remember, it's better to get a sleeve that's too long than too short, you can fix something that's too long.
>>
>>17536661
>so you decide to make yourself look gimped and have your top clash with your bottom? that's just retarded. doesn't matter that "it's like, at the core of italian fashion to play on formality, dude",

In the broader sense of the word, "spezzato" indicates an outfit in which top and bottom show a bold contrast in either color or material, that is worn for leisure and is meant to look effortlessly put together while fooling around with your clothes (not the case in the slightest but it's supposed to give off that vibe, hence the drop in formality and the "sprezzatura" moniker often attached to the style).

This is quintessential italian style and being italian born and raised, I will stick to it and cherish the tradition, as few are left in a world where culture gets increasingly diluted by globalism and digital homogenization as we go along.

Whether you like it or not I couldn't care less, I'm here to merely offer a different perspective on menswear, which includes reminding you that a "top clashing with the bottom", as you called it, can be a completely legit style choice when it comes to casual tailoring.

Well, I was more voicing my own doubts than criticizing anon's fit. My black boots are worn in and scruffed. I conditioned them rrcently and somehow managed to polish them more than I originally intended and the shine contrasted with the solid dark jeans which had no shine whatsoever. I couldn't figure out if this was a good or a bad thing. Usually I tend to wear my heavily worn boots with stuff that's broken in or distressed rather than with crisp looking stuff, so that's what I said maybe dark grey jeans or distressed black jeans.

Wasn't me in what you're replying to but my major issue is I'm not looking for dress shirts. I know what measurements I actually need and have a suit and two dress shirts custom made, but I'm still trying to find, specifically, casual pearl snap shirts that fit off the shelf. Interestingly, I have two Bad Religion shirts that fit perfectly, but it seems like their sizing was different throughout the years as Ive bought several that aren't cut the same.

The shirts pictured were medium slims, which are longer in the arms and skinnier in the torso. I had tried large slims but the torso was way too boxy. Trying everything I can to avoid having to buy big and get the torso massively tailored in on every shirt since I'm sure that's going to be 40-50 bucks each. I'm going to try to stretch the sleaves on these and if that doesn't work probably just kill myself.

Great argument, one small problem: u look dumb, your shoes are too bright, don't really match, and all this autism about Instagram pictures or whatever doesn't change that. Italians are either poor and dress poor or northern rich and dress better than you in this outfit. By better, I mean simple, understated, sweaters and jackets and shit normal people wear, not this costume, you fraud. You say things like a retard as if anything is fact on this gay forum, you sound so annoying. If you spent time in Italy you would know you look dumb, mr Italian. te e brutto e stupido, non italiano

>>17537390
Why bother putting on a long sleeve dress shirt and not button it?

>>17537042
I take it back, it's going to be hard to get something perfectly off the rack with those dimensions, your arms and neck are waaaaay bigger proportion wise than your chest. Your best bet for casual shirts is anything "medium tall" and then tailoring. Or buy anything medium tall with an extra slim fit. The quality isn't great but Express and ASOS have extra slim tall shirts, maybe try them out just to get a feel for the size.

I enjoy this. The vibes are weird kid who never stopped bug catching and is now insanely knowledgeable about entomology. You're on the hunt for a new species that may not even exist. Avoid sand and strange women.
>>17533252
The more I look at these fits the more I respect them. The only thing I want for is more visual interest from the tops, and maybe shoes that match the belts. You've got kind of a Ralph Lauren sailing day thing going on and the shoes contradict that.
>>17535888
This outfit has an overall feminine look because you've got a tight jacket and a much looser lower section. Idk if that's what you're going for, maybe it is. If you want to counteract that, play with ways to draw the eye away from the hips, and maybe tailor your pants to be tighter.

I was confused but then I noticed this was in a dressing room. I say definitely get the jacket and turtleneck! both are really cool.
>>17539907

Interesting look. Nice hair. Tie looks sloppy, idk if thats intentional.

If youre going for a mix of workwear and comfy menswear, lose the tie, its too formal to work with that stuff. Maybe it could work if you dropped the carhartt belt and unrolled your jeans.
>>
>>17540045
>>17540109
Ah I appreciate the advice! The "tie" is actually a silk scarf my grandma gave me. I was going for a more disheveled, "light" look. Also thank you for calling out the carhartt belt. I've been thinking about taking off that patch for a while, so I think I'm gonna do it now.

you cling to "fashion rules" and "core" categories because you have no clue what actually makes a strong outfit. you've probably never even heard of a gestalt principle. try reading a book about how the human eye works, maybe learn something.

If I had a penny for every time an american dude on 4chan thought they knew Italy better than someone actually living there, I'd be even wealthier than I already am.

Newsflash, dipshit: your highly instagrammable 6 days trip across the prominent tourist traps of the country does not mean you're an expert, so shut it.
>>
>>17540045
Legit one of my favorite fits in the past couple of threads. Has a cool 20's-30's adventure serial vibe. Two very small things: A different belt would look great here, the logo is a bit jarring. Second is I like the silk scarf as a tie, but have you considered tying it as an ascot? I think it would look cool here.

If you're into this sort of style look for moleskin and tweed pants on eBay/thrifting, they'd work for your style.

>>17541094
I'm always wary of power clashing, I've seen Naples bro do it well but I don't think I can pull it off. This looks good, but I'd like to see a full pic of the outfit if possible.
Small detail but I like how your belt looks are set up, there's a term for how the loops sit low and part of the waist band is above them but I can't remember.
