Started with my "collection" this year. Really getting into it, it's kinda fun like with spirits

>have
Chanel EdP
Gio EdT
DG The One EdP
>will buy next
Spicebomb Extreme. Liked it's opening, dry down was too sweet on paper but I need to try.
>want (to try)
Chanel Allure Extreme
YSL Bleu Electrique
Oud for Greatness/Glory
Aventus or L'Aventure clone

>???
Anything else I should consider from designers/mainstream or good clones?
Also looking for something musky clean, something I can use in/on my bed. Will Khiel do the trick?
>>
>>17357106
I reccomend you sniff a lot and avoid buying too much for now. since you're still new to frags your taste may change and overcomitting to mass pleasing designers can be bad if you turn into a niche autist later on
hard to recc anything based on your picks. try This is Him though, I think it's better than spicebomb extreme and less overplayed
>>
>>17357106
dior homme intense is a must smell imo, my favorite fragrances are all from niche houses, mostly Serge Lutens, Kilian and Guerlain but dior homme intense will always be part of my collection, such a great quality for a designer scent
>>
File deleted.
Why are there no good pine sap scents out there? I tried alot, Arso, some of the Pinewards, Cape Heartache and some more. Any recommendations?
>>
>>17357113
Thanks, will keep in mind.

>>17357119
Already smelled DHI before buying the one. Didn't like it though. Smells undefined, weak and somewhat feminine.
Guerlain is something I wanted to try but they didn't have unfortunately. Fucking store was 80% for women.
>>
What's a good unscented deodorant?
>>
>>17357113

I'm still disappointed that they changed the fragrance on the EDT a couple of years back.

I've just bought my brother Escentric Molecules 01 for Christmas. He's a nerd so I think he'll care more about the 'science' than the smell.
>>
>>17357106
The Dior line-up in general. If you didn't like DHI, there's still the Eau Sauvage and Sauvage lines. Eau Sauvage is a classic fragrance line, maybe a bit oldschool for your taste, while Sauvage is a modern hypermasculine line. Chanel stuff is great, so is Guerlain, although Guerlain offers a lot of oldschool fragrances and focuses on gourmands with the newer stuff. Some people will insist on adding Hermes and Cartier to the "must-try" list of designers, but personally I found Cartier surprisingly hard to find and the Hermes mainstream frags not that appealing.

>>17357161
Pic related. They might have recently changed the bottle design. There's also an anti-perspirant version of it, if you prefer that.
>>
>>17357106
Also don't bother with L'Aventure. It is okay at best and closer to other Aventus clones, not that close to Aventus. Smelling Aventus ruins Aventus clones, in all honesty, even if you don't like Aventus (like I do).
>>
>>17357177
Whoops, I meant antitranspirant version.

nah, guerlain isn't that rare in stores, at least here in Europe. every sephora I go to has at least some of their more modern frags like the l'homme ideal line. one of them even had the whole absoluts d'orient line or whatever it's called

Fragrance for clubbing/parties?
Considering the following:

- Sauvage EDP
- LNDLH bleu electrique

I am leaning towards the Sauvage as the LNDLH does project that much. I am open to any alternatives or any flankers
>>
>>17357228
Bleu de Chanel has the best cap imo, I wish more bottles had a magnetic cap.
>>
>>17357266
Eau Sauvage and Sauvage have a magnetic cap as well (it even aligns the CD logo). Missoni Wave has a magnetic cap that doesn't align and freely spins. The TdH cap is kinda cool with that rotation gimmick.

Polo green and Caron yatagan are good pine scents.
>>17357119
Dior homme original smells pretty gay to my nose. I’ll probably sell my bottle of it eventually. Maybe intense is better?
>>17357306
Ganymede grew on me. Makes me want to sample bi
>>
>>17357346
Girls the smellier the better , at least for me.

But for me I want to smell like a catacomb covered with musk and books
>>
>>17357350
I never got to try Dior Homme sadly, DHI definitely smells gay but i like that because i like men that look like women, to each their own i guess.

its the only designer fragrance i wear, ive grown too obsessed with certain niche houses that most designer fragrances just seem boring to me now

Be grateful faggot
>>
>>17357489
Yes sauvage is very much a meme now. Men overdid it to the point that women can now call it out by name, the ultimate death knell of a fragrance
>>
Tried Encre Noire A L'Extreme today and it has a beautiful woody fresh scent that is not really welcoming but that smells beautiful. I wear fragrances for myself but I cannot see how any girl will feel attracted by this.

Also, I'm almost 31 and It seems that every fragrance That I like is supposed to be for people much more older than me , but I hate fragrances like scandal or this is him.

Anything that's similar to Dior homme parfum, eau des baux or the one I mentioned earlier but with a younger profile?

Club de Nuit intense limited edition would be a good option? Limited edition or pure parfum is better?
>>
>>17357515
Who gifted it to you? It's marketed as middle tier designer scent, but the scent DNA is walmart tier.
>>
>>17357538
It fucking sucks because l like sauvage...also, I really like this ad because it explains what fragrances are all about
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sT74WuijwY

I still want to pull the trigger on it, even though I will smell like everybody else...
>>
What fragrance can I give my dad? He is in his 50s
>>
>>17357561
Get sausage elixir. It mogs the rest of the flankers and it makes every other sauvage wearing fuckboy smell like they’re wearing a cheap dupe
>>
>>17357579
Picrel, it will certainly bring back memories from partying in the 90s
>>
>>17357489
How often have you smelled Sauvage if you're being honest, though? It's perfectly wearable unless you want to be unique in a large group. The smaller the group, the more likely nobody wears Sauvage and you will able to stand out.

>>17357583
Also true. Sauvage Elixir is noticeably different without deviating too much from the formula of a hypermasculine loud modern crowdpleaser. It's less popular with the average Sauvage wearer and more popular among all frag reviewers.
>>
>>17357583
I have thought about getting elixir since in theory it is 'just' a more concentrated version but apparently it is targetter for middle eastern people and smells more 'heavy'...not my cup of tea to be frank. Will I stand out with the EDP or same story as EDT?
I want to get this frag as my clubbing/partying perfume if that matters
>>17357591
Also tagging you anon, also want your opinion
>>
>>17357596
I have the EDP. Ironically, I think it projects much closer than the other flankers. It’s probably the most appropriate one for more casual situations. It has a faint hint of vanilla that isn’t present in the EDT — you probably won’t detect it if you’re not looking for it. Apparently the Parfum amps up the vanilla even further, which would turn my head
>>
>>17357600
Shit...so it's EDT or Elixir, no middle ground huh lmao! Also what do you mean "would turn my head"? In a good way or it would make you dizzy?
>>
>>17357602
I’m saying I like the vanilla.
>>
>>17357602
>>17357603
Bear in mind, the Elixir is totally separate from the Parfum. There are 4 flankers altogether
>>
>>17357605
Indeed, does the Parfum project better than the rest?
>>
>>17357520

South east Queensland
>>
>>17357610
I’ll be honest man I don’t think you need to worry about projection with sauvage. It’s probably the most dependably in-your-face shit that has ever gone mainstream, even the closer sitting EDP is a beast compared to most frags you’re likely to find.
>>
>>17357625
That settles it then, since projection is more or less equal across the board I'll get the one I enjoy the best :) thank you for the help fren!
Here is Johnny Depp passed out as a bonus
>>
>>17357266
Magnetic caps are great, too bad they're mostly used on npc frags
>>
Ormonde Jayne and Parfum D’Empire are the best modern fragrance houses
>>
>>17357228
Eau sauvage is the GOAT. Art Deco masterpiece. TDH sprayer is different but kinda cheap. BDC is boring. As far as minimalism I prefer egoiste. Fahrenheit is great. Eros is gaudy as fuck. Issey cap is garbage. Allure i don’t really like. The OG clear one is okay.
>>
>>17357610
>Parfum project better than the rest
Nope. The edt.
>>
>>17357381
Never tried the OG as I only sniffed it in-store a few weeks ago and managed to find a sale so snapped it up.

Lasted pretty long I could still detect it 8 hours after applying three spirits. To me it smells like a more upscale cream soda
>>
>>17357544
at 31 you can pull off anything except for maybe total grandpa shit. people saying modern designer scents smell "mature" are retarded. DHP and Eau dex Baux are both modern smelling frags, easy to wear by anyone at your age
club de nuit is a step down from your other choices, very loud and trashy

try This is Him, Tobacco Vanille, Ombre Leather, Fat Electrician, Tom Ford Noir, Terre d'Hermes and Grey Vetiver
>>
Should I get DHS, Eau d'Issey or CAHSEE?
>>
>>17357673
>Eros is gaudy as fuck
just like the frag itself, that's why it's a perfect fit a nd why I like it ironically enough. looks like something straight out of Scarface
>>
>>17357719
DHS. the other two have shit performance nowadays
>>
>>17357723
What about Fierce and BdC EDT
Looking for fresh frags in case that wasn't clear
>>
>>17357727
BdC is okay but I feel like it's oversaturated at this point and about to be on the way out. I'd get DHS
>>
>>17357731
Yeah I wonder what the next Chanel hit is gonna be
Got an opinion on Fierce?
>>
>>17357596
There's nothing middle eastern about it. The opening is spicy, sure, but the drydown is licorice showergel. Which middle eastern person smells like showergel? Sauvage EdT has that synthetic pepper opening and I don't see how that would be any less middle eastern.

>>17357629
That is what you always should do. If you have the option to just test the fragrances, test them and figure out what you like.

much prefer those poem or more abstract reviews of fragrances than stale "peach aldehydes metallic blah blah", but I do agree with you on ganymede. try b683 and bois imperial, they have the woody backbone but bois is more aromatic with basil and stronger on akigalawood, and b683 retains that metallic opening with a leather spicy drydown

Fuck it, I know literally nothing about fragrances.
Recommend me shit that I can get started with. The last time I got a nice Cologne was at the mall when an indian jipped me for 40 bucks on a 20 dollar Nautica bottle bc I didn't know what I was doing. Other than that the closest I come to picking out how I smell is when I debate if I want old spice deod or the twofer Irish spring at Walgreens.

I've been paying more attention to my presentation recently and decided to go smell shit at the Sephora in the mall near me.
Tried a couple of smells, I liked pic real the most out of them. Smelled very fresh and "springy"
I see a lot of ppl recommending ferinheight it was okay, very spicy compared to the others. I liked the red eros as well ( my gf REALLY liked this, Idk what you call this type of scent but it's more for a "going out" sorta situation) there was a tom Ford one that smelled like strait pipe tobbacco.
Gimme shit that I can wear just out in public. I don't want to smell like a fruitcake when I go to the doctor's to get a refill on my adderalls
>>
>>17358193
Oh btw, since I just read the pastebin

I'm 23, I work at a moving company part time 3 days a week and will be going back to uni this spring. I live in N.W. G.A so winters never get >40°f (if it really matters)
I have a long term gf.
Looking to spend up to $150 on a few fragrances if I like them
I enjoy going hiking and I've climbed various mountains so anything that can mimic the smell of the great outdoors is awesome in my book
Specific scents: pine, woodfire smoke, morning dew, coffee, and if there is anything out there that's just strait green tea scent extract that's been bottled...I would love to buy it.
>>
>>17358193
Bleu de Chanel is something I'd recommend to everyone who is considering their first fragrance. It's from Chanel, so you'll never get a bad quality bottle. The scent profile is very mass appealing so to most people you won't smell bad. I'd suggest the Eau de Parfum as it strikes the balance between rich and light. If you're not a fan of that, try the Dior Sauvage line or YSL Y line. Those two both have similar strengths.

Cool Water is very fresh, green, and aquatic. Very classic scent profile, and most people wouldn't have a problem with it. It's also like $30 for 200 ml. For a similar scent profile, but done smoother and much much more expensive, try Green Irish Tweed.

Silver Mountain Water smells very much like fresh air to me. There's also a pronounced tea note. This one is very expensive, so maybe you'll consider it down the line. For a cheaper, slightly different, and much stronger alternative, try Club de Nuit Sillage. Another, even cheaper alternative is Cremo Silver Water.

By the Fireplace is a pretty convincing smoky scent. While you're at it, also try Jazz Club which is from the same line. That one is boozy tobacco. Coffee Break, from the same line, is supposed to smell like a coffee shop. To me, it's more vanilla, but give it a try. The same company also has a scent called Macha Meditation. I haven't tried that one, but it's supposed to be a very close Macha green tea smell.

Bois Imperial is a bit of a meme right now, but it's genuinely a very convincing woody scent. Literally smells like standing in a forest.

A couple of random stuff to try: Acqua Di Gio is literally the best selling men's fragrance of all time. The base is aquatic and fresh. The whole line is high quality or at least none of them are bad. The Light Blue line is citrusy and aquatic. Very fresh, very safe. Dolce Gabbana The One EDP is spicy tobacco. Very good for a date. Versace Eros Flame (the red one) is indeed very good, but also try the entire line.
>>
>>17357544
Tried Toy Boy? Only gave a first sniff yesterday, but opening was alright, dark spicy rose, somewhat reminiscent of DHP. Became more rosy like montal -intense cafe without the gourmand stuff.
>>
>>17357703
bless you anon, ill be sampling it then

>>17358193
Look at the Margiela Replica line, very nice and wearable frags. My personal favorite is Soul of the Forest and by the fireplace, i would try to smell them before you buy them though
>>
>>17358266
Is Eros flame better than Eros edt?
>>
>>17358279
No. Flame is nothing.
>>
>>17358279
Some of people would say yes. Personally, I'd say they're just different. The edt is a clubbing fragrance for sure, but with one or two sprays, there's no reason that it's can't be a daily wear. But definitely sample before buying
>>
>>17357515
I know I'd never buy a bottle, but I get why people like it. If you decide you don't like it, you should give it to somebody else, and tell them they're the third person to own it and that it should keep moving from person to person until it gets to somebody who it clicks with.
Next time I'm at the mall I might spray it again to hone in on why I don't like it, and why it's almost good.

I slowly realise that niche is literally a meme to sell an average scented water for the double or trible the price of a designer. Good pine scents i tried are Bottega Veneta Pour Homme.

Thanks for report, do you consider it a blind buy? what about DH intense?
>>
>>17359093
>blind buy
Literally nobody will ever be offended by this frag so sure, go ahead. There's a really smooth quality to DH that makes it both masculine and very "reassuring", it's not an in-your-face men's frag like, I don't know, Eros might be for example.
>DH intense
Completely different. Sweet, slightly powdery, it's very soft too but in a different way. Personally the drydown gets tiresome and I'm fed up with DHI after a while, but it's a good scent. Not a blind buy though.

I'm waiting to try DHS, if anyone knows how similar it is to DH2020 and especially if the performance is better, please tell me

Yeah, pretty much, after working at a niche store and personally owning something close to 100 fragrances I came to the same conclusion. Niche fragrances have usually unnecessary weight that only makes sense for a woman's fragrance. I like Aventus but that thing is made like a modern day eau sauvage. I'm wearing both and hardly anything else these days.
>>
>>17360228

>>
>>17360319
>Niche fragrances have usually unnecessary weight that only makes sense for a woman's fragrance
Can you please expand on this? Interesting take
>>
>>17360375
Not him but I agree; niche frags usually have a complex profile that tends to come off as thick and heavily layered, which makes them lack a kind of effortlessness that you can easily find in designer frags. A niche frag smells distinctive, it smells like you're "wearing a perfume" and usually doesn't lend itself to becoming a second skin.
>>
>>17360181
I know this is a crazy idea, but you could just buy what you like and enjoy it and stop caring about whether something is designer or niche.
It seems like the majority of this "hobby" that is collecting fragrances is all about having expensive and rare frags to impress random strangers on the internet, regardless of whether you even like the scents themselves.
The answer is to stop caring what other people think. They're probably assholes anyway.

Women and normies in general tend to like very basic scents (sweet and spicy or marine/freshies) which is why most mall-core frags for big designers tend to stick to this proven formula. Even woody/mossy/leather frags send normies for a loop.

More "advanced" scents (ouds, fougeres, etc.) to getting used to in order to truly appreciate.

I will say tho that Bleu de Chanel is one of the few normie frags I actually like.

Lol its not actually my photo, just saved it cause I like Bois Imperiale and etruscan water, so thought I might end up getting other stuff in this anon's collection.

Anyways, Bois Imperiale is great, one of the few woody frags I really like. Got a 10ml and like it so much I bought the full size (which I rarely do). It lasts really long. Doesn't project a ton, but I don't really like stuff that projects a mile away anyways. Its very woody, with maybe a tiny bit of fresh spice.

I havent tried Ganymede, but the longevity (usually the main thing that cheaper frags lack) is great with BI, so I don't know what paying extra for ganymede would buy you.

>>17360513
I think the edt is slightly better and being less dark works better for the scent, but the performance is apparently bad
>>
>>17360513
It's supposed to mean different oil concentration, but in reality you have to tweak the formulation as well, so the end result is more of an imagined or enhanced idea of what the different concentrations smell like.
Typically an EDT is fresher and might project more. As you go up in concentration they tend to become less fresh. Instead denser with added heavier, darker or sweeter notes.

So it's not a guarantee that they will last longer.

Toy Boy. Dark rose, a bit woody musky base. Blind bought a small bottle because of reviews and curiosity. Actually pretty good and wearable if you're comfortable with rose.
>>
>>17361212
yes i have smelled lapidus stuff and that was not what someone should be wearing. i gave up after two. only bogart has been worse so far.

a divisive fragrance and two synthetic sweet fragrances. but at least one of them is for cute girls so it doesn't matter.

Best organic fragrance for men or unisex.
>>
>>17361882
almost all fragrances are organic, there's no inorganic chemistry involved.
>>
>>17361882
uhh.... deer musk attars from Etsy?
>>
>>17361886
That isn’t accurate though, there are synthetic ingredients in fragrances which is why I’ve had a really hard time finding ones that have none.
>>
>>17361892
and yet they are carbon based and therefore entirely organic
>>
>>17361906
I think you’ve been eating too many micro plastics.

really good, much higher quality than the price would suggest, bitter vetiver with a forest-like drydown.
headache and vomit inducing artificial tobacco that is sweeter than american piss, stays on your skin for 2 days and fills out any room you enter.
b540 without the iodine and moss that swapped out the cotton candy sweetness for artificial citrusy-sweet note, it's also toilet cleaner tier for the first 30 minutes.
>>17360518
yes layering with iso-e super should increase the longevity and make your frag project a bit more.

Why I like this piece of shit so much? Everytime I smell a girl wearing Euphoria, I'd greet her.
Is there anything similar for man?
>>
>>17361912
i'll tell you once i sampled or smelled every fragrance there is
>>
>>17360577
very spicy in the opening, the drydown is very warm and more ambery than anything else. i would just sample it honestly, me personally i hate the idea of smelling like an arab but the drydown is 100% worth it to me
>>
>>17361663
Haven't gotten to try that one yet. I can't remember why, maybe it had notes I wasn't fond of?

Tried Dior Homme Intense and smells like a grandma
Sauvage elixir on the other hand smells manly and clean. Very intense and long lasting, though I like the DNA so might cop the EDP
Dior Homme Sport is quite nice, a good everyday wear for Fall/Winter, while Dior Cologne is great for Spring/Summer
All in all Dior is good on the average, one of the most consistent fragrance brands when it comes to quality and appeal

Anyone knows a good mature and mass pleasing scent that works well all seasons?
I am looking for something classy and not overhyped. Obvious candidate could be picrel but ThH is just not for me.

maybe Jaipur Homme in the EDT? or Grey Vetiver?
but desu most typical young fragbros see "mature" as the opposite of mass pleasing, so it's almost like you're asking for a contradiction. both are mind of meaningless meme categories. but for an older man, maybe something like Eau Sauvage is more mass pleasing than Eros. idk
>>
>>17362183
you could try Voyage d'Hermes EDP
>>
>>17361933
I would love to sit on this bottle.
>>
>>17362217
>"mature" as the opposite of mass pleasing
I see the contradiction and I know it's a difficult question, but as said, there is the case with TdH edt: not exactly mass pleasing but most people will agree that the thing smell good and classy.
Other candidate could be picrel. Lovely fragrance, but it's too much when hot weather (I live in Lazio).
>>
>>17362192
>ombre leather
Is this wearable at 95°F? Don't think so.
>>
>>17362235
>TdH edt: not exactly mass pleasing
It was if you were in menswear.
Now it smells dated.
TDH Parfum is a superb modern flanker for today.

I hope you are not trolling... Just ordered a 50ml bottle for 16€ since I like crazy fragrance woth tons of notes from late 80s/early 90s.
Anyway, I am looking for a classy signature, I don't think that exist at this price range.
>>
>>17362249
>TdH edt dated
>TdH Parfum modern
Come on. 90% of the people won't detect a difference.
>>
>>17362253
It's awesome, right? I sparyed it in my notebook planner at the beginning of the year, just to smell it on paper, and the scent still there.
>>
>>17362254
different anon here, I do think 1881 is a good frag, but I wouldn't call it mass pleasing. it's like a more green eau sauvage with added rose
you could try Platinum Egoiste or anh Chanel made since then really. they're all safe and mass pleasing yet classy

Op here. Bois imperial and ganymede are not mass pleasing, but I totally forgot about this MFK masterpiece. Best answer so far, thanks.
>>
>>17362183
Maybe Dunhill Icon or CAHSEE? Could also try Le Beau and it's Parfum version, maybe even Le Male. Other than that, Prada stuff, like Luna Rossa Sport or Amber pour Homme, but I'm not sure how the current batches are on that.

>>17362254
Cerruti 1881 is a bit old-fashioned, but well blended. I don't mind the first bit, but the longevity could be better. Good fragrance, though.

>>17362242
Whether or not something is wearable during different seasons is - in reality- entirely based on mindset. People do not really care. Fragheads overthink seasonality of fragrances, most people only own 1-2 bottles and use them however.
>>
>>17362300
>mostly vetiver and oud
Easily wearable all year round. If you got balls.

Just tested the new Code Parfum. What a fucking disappointment - might as well be called "We want the sauvage audience".
Also tried the Novellista Violate Charade - I don't have any thoughts on it cause you can barely smell it.
>>
>>17362254
It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but for the price it's worth adding to a mature mans collection regardless. A rougher Eau Sauvage with better longevity.

First impression.
It starts of with Antonio Gardoni slapping you in the face with a bouquet of flowers while a civet is pissing on you. As it settles down after 10-15min the sweet warmth of the benzoin starts to come forth.

>BI
>not mass pleasing
I do not share this experience. People fucking love BI in real life, it’s almost a bit ridiculous. Literally vintage Fierce tier juice. L’HOMME INFINIMENT
>>
>>17362526
In real life, people fucking love the most popular frags
Frags I get complimented on are stuff like bdc, adg and spicebomb. I own a BI bottle and nobody cares.
Fierce is great though, too bad the longevity is shit

why do people still care about Armani? they made one good fragrance and haven't done anything of note since the 90s, just endless flankers that get reformulated into weak shjt after a year or two
