I will unironically buy a casio edifice with 50000 functions, fuck obsessing about these little pieces of shit, I'm getting watch burnout.
>>17013239Continuing from last thread, what's a good alternative for a 41mm perpetual. Want something with a big face that's not ostentatious and could be for everyday use. Already own a Datejust, so would getting a Perpetual be redundant?
>>17013318What size DJ? An OP would probably be very redundant with a DJ unless there are some days where you don't want to know what day it is. That's the problem with really versatile watches. They end up being the daily go-to and everything else ends up sitting in the drawer. Since a DJ is so versatile, to avoid redundancy, I would pick something that's completely different like a full-on sports watch, a luxury sports watch, or a complicated dressy piece.

>wife just gave birth to my first kid>its a fucking boy I'm so happyBelieve it or not I managed to knocked someone up! I've always worn either Seikos SKX or Gshocks all my life but now I kinda want something that I can pass onto my son on my deathbed. Something that he can use to sell/barter to get him out of a sticky situation. But also something that I can wear everyday or at least on days I am not working.I am thinking either Railmaster or Pelagos FXD, I know I want something without a date with a strap.
>>17013364>my cope for a rollie datejust/op 41>like just fucking sell me one god damn itNeither the OP41 or the DJ41 are particularly rare watches. Unless you're looking for an extremely unusual dial color or bezel/bracelet configuration, you're going to be waiting a couple of months, tops. The long-ass waiting lists are for the popular sports models. Rolex makes hundreds of thousands of DJs per year. It's their single best-selling model.
>>17013374Don't take this the wrong way, but if you leave your son anything, it should be a Rolex or a Patek. Omegas aren't really heirloom quality and Tudors especially aren't.

>>17013388Sure. There are minimalist watches that are way worse. Personally, I would have either gone no-date or put the name at 9 and the date at 3 so the dial has some symmetry.

>>17014188>Rolex or patekWhy is this phrase so common in this thread? The cheapest patek costs double most rolexes, is it because of resale? A base aquanut costs 10x a sub secondhand. They occupy wildly different tiers of watches. Rolex belongs with omega, breitling, iwc, cartier, GO, and entry level jlc.
>>17014209Those brands are both obscenely expensive and unobtainium to the guys in this thread who harp on about them.
>>17014209>Why is this phrase so common in this thread? It's short-hand for either the de facto "best" watch in the entry-level luxury sphere or the "best" watch in the high-end sphere and it covers a really wide range of spending. It's not meant to be taken literally that someone should buy one of those two watch brands' pieces.>Rolex belongs with omega, breitling, iwc, cartier, GO, and entry level jlc.Rolex is the standard, they belong only with themselves. Think about it: when a new Seamaster comes out, the first question is "How does it compare to the Submariner?" but when a new Submariner comes out, the first question is "Is it an improvement over the old Submariner?"
I need San Martin to make a tank clone so I can customize the dial with "SHARTIER"

>>17014209A Calatrava is 30k, the same as a GMT Master and cheaper than a Day Date or Daytona
>>17014209>The cheapest patek costs double most rolexesSo what, cost doesn't determine tier
>>17014339>I wouldn't 0ay a cent over msrp but it's worth a qiuck flight to grab one nowNo, not at all.Wait a year, once the hype subsides. Even at MSRP, the Tudor is expensive. You can get Black Bay GMTs for under 3k USD now. Those things had waiting lists less than two years ago.
>>17014209>Rolex belongs with omega, breitling, iwc, cartier, GO, and entry level jlc. That's just price-wise, though.Rolex, Omega and Breitling certainly occupy the same "Tough watches for tough men" LARP market segment. Cartier unapologetically makes jewelry and doesn't care about Rolex. IWC doesn't know what the fuck it's doing.GO and JLC don't compete with Rolex either. Their niche seems to be more for people who like the engineering of haute horlogerie but don't care about precious metals.
>>17014366>You can get Black Bay GMTs for under 3k USD now.Used? The purchasing power of the USD is evaporating overnight, smoke me if you got em
>>17014295I love this one. Wish it came in a white dial version though.
>>17014373JLC's entire market is autists who cant handle any amount of detailing or decoration and people that went to the wrong boutique accidentally when they meant to buy a VC.
>>17014378*smoke em if ya got em
>>17014383>people that went to the wrong boutique accidentally when they meant to buy a VC.That's kind of funny because VC's reputation has always been them selling gussied-up JLCs at three times the price.
>>17014192What's the name/code of this one
>>17014390Dook-153
>>17014378Of course used. With hype watches like this, the market floods with inventory pretty predictably and you'll always easily be able to find an example that some guy bought because Instagram told him to and realized he didn't actually like the watch so he sells it at a loss.>Week 1: It's basically brand new, so I'll ask a couple hundred less than MSRP>Week 2: Will listen to all _reasonable_ offers, no lowballers please.>Week 3:Willing to trade up for any steel Rolex plus cash>Week 4:This is where they start to get desperate and realize they've made a huge mistake when they check eBay and C24 and realize the Japs are selling the same watch in the same condition for half MSRP. The seller lowers his price to the Japanese sale price. Here's where you wait a week and offer him 10% off what he's asking. He'll say yes every time.
>>17014339>>17014366Thanks anons.I'm certainly not going to wait a year just so I can hope to save a few bucks lmao. But I will wait probably a month or two to see if my AD gets any in stock. Hopefully this is just a few scalpers trying to cash in on the new release, I doubt it will be anything like the black bay 58 (which is still not available at my local ad) given how much more polarizing it seems to be.
Just got this beauty
>>17014406>But I will wait probably a month or two to see if my AD gets any in stockSee if he will really tell you what his list looks like and what kind of shipments he expects. When the bb58 hype train got going even that had a waiting list for the bracelet version. Maybe with the economy cooling off things will back off a bit but it seems to be on it's way to being one of the most hyped tudor releases ever. Then again rolex doesn't really limit production on tudor, so there is a good chance demand will slow eventually
>>17014408Excellent choice, I liked mine so much I autistically upgraded to the GW-5000 12 months later.

>>17014423Very nice, anon
>>17014408Get some sunlight god dammit, your battery is not full
>>17014456He just got it, it'll have been sitting in a box for the past 6 months and they don't fully charge the battery when making the watch. Also, you'd think LMH would correspond with a third each of the battery's capacity but it's more like L less than 10%, M 10-80%, H more than 80%
>>17014423What is upgraded on it?
>>17014466I know, was just messing with him.
>>17014545Softer rubber, inner case is solid metal, traditional screwback like you see on stainless steel watches. Functionally its identical, same module
>>17013921I have the gold one with the mesh Its great
>>17014545>>17014549>Functionally its identical, same moduleThis. If you're a collector or an enthusiast, it's great. If you're not, it's waste of money.Personally, I found the added weight and thickness annoying. I put the 5000's strap on the titanium-backed S5600 and ended up with a watch that was thin and superlight, but still had the softer, high-quality strap.
>>17014545Like other anon said >>17014549 the rubber is a lot more pliant and comfortable, the inner case and screwback case are steel and DLC coated, "made" in Japan. But apart from that it's functionally identical, slightly bigger and noticeably heavier than the GWM5610
>>17014423>>17014547So is solar worth getting over the regular battery version?Does the solar battery not eventually need replacing?
>>17013239Video basically confirms the reason you can't find fucking Rolex's is because ADs are selling them out the backdoor to their Saudi friendshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkT6cKfXCw8
>>17014584>So is solar worth getting over the regular battery version?>Does the solar battery not eventually need replacing?Solar batteries do need replacing, but whether or not they die depends on how they are charged. If they are kept at H all the time they will last longer than if you let them drain to almost-empty and recharge back to high. They are considerably more expensive to replace than a regular battery. It also depends on how you use the watch. For example, I never use the backlight so I have a G-Shock with a "10 year" battery that's currently on its 14th year of running.Personally, the increased cost of the solar models doesn't really make it worth it.
God I’m hungover. I need a morning beer.
I you had to buy a ~200 euros watch to go with a blue suit at a wedding, what would you pick?

>>17014655>your life savingskek
>>17013359Damn they're all crapY u do dis?
>>17014598>If they are kept at H all the time they will last longerWell that depends on what kind of battery is in. Back when mobile phones were new tech their early Li-ion batteries were said to be best kept at 40% charge to last the longest. I'm sure the tech has advanced since then so i doubt that still holds true but still it's not as simple as that.
>>17013745None because he's not a sissy
>>17014660If you replaced "Rolex" with "a gold chain" people would appreciate how silly it seems. It's just jewelry. If you have to save up for it, you can't afford it in either case.
>>17014584It's a capacitor, so yes, it does theoretically need replacing eventually. But at the same time solar appeals to me much more than battery, it's technologically quite interesting, and how a solar G-Shock conserves its power is pretty nifty. I've also had an AL-180 for about 10 years now and it's a very basic solar model but it still keeps its charge without any issues.
>>17014671The rechargeable batteries that solar Casios use are pretty primitive. There's no sophisticated power management beyond going to sleep if it's dark. You need to keep them topped up.
>>17014648Orient Maestro. There are other color variants as well.
>>17014662Not all of them. The Bullhead chronos are cool, there is a couple other cool ones as well (the actual first automatic chrono ever made for example) and that World Timer is legit rare.
>>17014691>chronos are*chrono is
>>17014683That's not quite right, they also use the tilt sensor to keep the display on or to wake it after going into power saving mode
75$, should I?
>>17014000Right? It's only a quartz movement but it's designed after the big clock on the front of the building. Look up Union Terminal it's an icon of art deco design and is one of the last remaining buildings kept in such good condition.
