What tips do you guys have to enhance projection on your fragrances? I'm going to a concert in some time and I wanna be able to project really hard
>>17011843besides the typical "pulse points" and back of the neck just make sure to get some on the fabric of what you're wearing, which tends to carry the scent longer. I'll do behind the ears, back of neck, wrists, and then the "collar area" even if the shirt has no collar.

Why the fuck does this stuff have to work so well on women? I could wear some of the more interesting stuff I own on dates, but why do that when girls get one whiff of this and get sucked in? Of all the niche and pricey bottles I own, I'd probably choose this stuff if I had to keep only one. Goddamnit.
Sampled Encre Noire AL from 2020 against my 2022 batch, and mine is honestly better. Old one has an ever so slightly more bergamotty opening which I attribute to maceration, but after that my batch smells more distinct and intense in every note. I could identify it blindly every time.Maybe I'm just not very receptive to Iso E, because anons here said their 2020/21 ENALs were strong. Mine lasts long enough, but does not project much at all after the first hour or so. Applying it on clothes helps though.>>17011843I've discovered that the best way to make a scent last long is to drench the fibres of one's clothes with it, as opposed to spraying it on the clothes surficially. So get the vaporizer close to the fabric and spray a good 4-6 times to soak the spot through. I've managed to make even cheap shit frags that last 15 minutes on skin last for hours with this. Fairly good projection too, but you can add surficial and skin/hair sprays to increase projection intensity.

Is cardamom considered a gourmand note? Because to me it smells like some thick sweet cream, like mascarpone or something.Boss Bottled EDP and Le Male Le Parfum both are cardamom gourmand bombs and I for one don't like it, but I'm curious whether there's some frags that use cardamom in a less "delicious" and more interesting way. Aight boys, I haven't sniffed many frags but I'm still convinced of what to buy as my first and only perfume for a while, that being Fahrenheit Dior Eau de toilette.I have a few questions:>which bad batch/years should I look out for? >what is considered a good deal for a 100 ml bottle? No rare years/batches>which site usually has the lowest prices inlcuding shipping?>is buying used recommended? Where to?>will it be too much to wear it everyday? Should I only use it when i go out at night?>how about its sillage? How long does edp Fahrenheit lasts? I don't want to buy something no one will smell.Any other advices on how much and where to wear this particular fragrance is welcome.
>>17012294>not usedWhy would you feel the need to clarify
Fragrances always seem to wear off quite quickly, even edp/real p fragrances which are reviewed to last longer (e.g. Eau de Sauvage EDP). Is this just my mind fucking with me, or could there be something I'm doing wrong?
>>17012352Either you go noseblind or you're not applying enough. I recommend 40 sprays. If you can't smell it then, at least you know you're just noseblind.

Applying it on clothes helps though.I can absolutely smell iso e for a long time after application but to me what makes my bottle of AL so strong is some synthetic amber base note, i know there are quite a few uber strong ambers that have been introduced or become in the last 10 years and and i can't tell you which one it is but that's what i notice, i don't think it's more iso e super. Who knows, im retarted so maybe I'm completely wrong, but my other iso e super bomb fragrances dont smell anything like that amber note

>>17012330From what ive read the modern formula is the best that it has been since the 90s so unless you feel like overpaying for a dusty old bottle you should walk into a store and buy one. Or get one from the big (thousands of sales) perfume dealers on ebay.Don't overthink it. If you get a slightly older bottle it will just have a bit more vanilla.

>>17012454I can't find anything on ebay, is 70 bucks alright for a 100ml?
>>17012413>>1701247270 bucks is completely alright for 100ml Fahrenheit EDT. Outstanding scent, and I can attest that the modern formulation (2021+) is good and truer to the original than earlier formulations have been. You won't often find Dior at a steep discount, it and Chanel are pretty much the royalty of the designer bracket (Guerlain and Caron are kings though).
I usually go Dolce & Gabanna light blue or Polo Blue by Ralph & Lauren. Use one of those two colognes for my clothes, neck, and hair. I then pair it w/ a cheaper and muskier cologne like Brut and use that to spritz my wrist, abdomen, and chest. I found that the lighter aroma from a well created perfume paired with a grittier and harder perfume out of a cheaper bottle gives you a really attractive aroma without risking the perception of being too booshy/feminine.
>>17012489just ordered it, off a reputable fragrances online shop in EU. They usually sell you the newest batch from the last year, right? they won't send me something from 2018 right? Should I email them to make sure or am I being paranoid?
Another beautiful sunny day to wear beau de jour
>>17012518Don't overthink it, they arent going to have 5 year old bottles sitting around
>>17012438AL's late drydown for me (both batches) is a magnificent creek scent, mossy rotten wood and wet earth, some sweet and resinous qualities remain. Definitely not strong though. I can get more projection if I soak wool with it, but even then I can't say it fills a room. And sometimes I mostly smell some salty-sour-synthetic patchouli in the drydown, especially on skin. Probably caused by sniffing it too much. The EN line is odd to me. Sometimes they are wonderful, other times I can barely smell them. Really easy to grow noseblind to them for me, it's gotta be some Iso E wizardry. I have stuff like Terre and Fahrenheit too, so I'm familiar with Iso E-heavy frags, and while Terre can be a bit difficult to perceive for me on myself as well, it's not as much of a problem as it is with EN. I think Iso E is just a weird molecule, more volatile with regard to temperature, interacts with body chemistry and olfactory senses as well as other scent molecules in weird ways. It also changes the way I perceive other frags, such as when I alternate between smelling the different ENs.EN Sport is the weirdest one for me. I don't get all the associations I read online with it whatsoever, for now it smells mostly of a synthetic aquatic accord to me, not much of anything else apart from some citrus in the opening. The forest is nowhere to be smelled. Original EN is a strong and constant blast of cypress, it smells like biting down on cypress must taste, very bitter, green, spicy, but in an interesting way. But then sometimes I'm completely blind to the cypress in it, and I don't perceive the scent at all. Yet other times I distinctly smell the dry, scorched-earthy vetiver very similar to AL's, but that's not something I usually smell with the original at all, usually it's just a powerfully green cypress with vetiver at most sharpening it. I like it, it's unique and intriguing, but it's not at all this dark, heavy, gothy, necrotic scent I've seen it made out to be either.
>>17012677I'm really rather new to the ENs though, and I've seen a fair few people report coming around to them with time, different seasons, maceration, ... Same with Terre. Just something about Iso E-centric compositions that takes a while to get them. I should probably have someone else spray them in a different room from me and then smell them after letting them settle for a moment - I think the initial blow of Iso E molecules just completely overwhelms or numbs my senses to it for quite a while. If I leave them alone for a bit I usually start being more susceptible to their charms again. ENS is still strange, but I'll keep trying.
>>17012440>longer lasting>mintyfraid notyou can try Eau de Menthe by Dyptique, You or Someone Like You by ELDO or that one minty frag by Heely that I can't remember the name of, but the performance won't be greatmost other frags I can think of may have mint in the opening, but it fades rather quickly

finally tried pic related, if you're looking for a realistic citrusy frag with some ever so slightly balsamic herbs and spices on the bottom you ought to try it outit's pretty much like Light Blue Forever, but the realistic grapefruit juice accord fades a bit quicker and it's complemented by an equally convincing smokey sage note

Very new to fragrances and I'll probably never be an aficionado either, just looking for some kind of entry to the vast world of scents and if I'm lucky finding something that suits me. If I were to find something good, I'd be okay spending some money on that. Problem is I don't really know what I even like (fuck going to perfume stores, I hate them), so I went ahead and bought some samples, hoping to get a broad spectrum of different types. Went to a frag store today and got the chance to sniff some of the Dior lines.Kek at the Eau Sauvage Parfum shilling, it had that underlying sweetness like Beau de Jour. Then i sniffed Eau Sauvage Extreme and that one lacks the sweetness, a good woody fougere, the citruses are also toned down here.Top notch is Fahrenheit, it's floral, you get the freshness of the violet leaf with the leathery twist. Comparing Fahrenheit to CdG Garage or Tar, the petrol note is very weak, almost non existent. Probably something that vintage bottles will have.Sniffed also recent formulation of Cool water, imho it's still great, it's much more aquatic to the vintage bottles. Vintage CW is literally Green Irish Tweed minus the sweet powdery notes.

>>17011828So I'm beginning to appreciate the new drakkar noir bottle. However, the dry down is... idk kinda weird and not as pleasant as the opening. This is still not something i'd wear in spring or summer, it's pretty dark and depressing idk why, maybe due to no sweetness. But then again i really like my encre noire even though that has no sweetness either.

>>17014565Funny how people differently interpret scents. Drakkar Noir is for me one of the most alpha scents, i love the mossy, green, citrusy DNA. But not with recent formulations, the vintage one or clones with huge sillage are dope. Really boost my confidence.
>>17014630Can you give me a comparison of the new vs vintage formulation? In the new formulation all i get is this a bit damp, depressing lavender, soapiness to offset the darkness and some leather accord with a bit of wormwood?I don't get any pine notes, green notes nor any oakmoss(this one obvious).

Tbh if I didn't have my GF grabbing this for me at a steep discount I would probably prefer fico di amalfi over Pulp for the price.
Finally got round to ordering Bois Imperial. Will share my potential disappointment when it arrives
Applied Le Male Le Parfum one spray on my wrist two days ago, have since then been sporting outside, worked out, showered thoroughly, washed my hands multiple times, and I can still smell it. And it's the wrist that rubs over my mousepad constantly at that (my mousepad doesn't smell of it).Why can't all perfumes be this crazy. Granted, it's only a subdued cardamom and vanillic sweetness that's left, but it's still a far cry from other stuff.

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie just getting acquainted with some of the basics of the fragrance game. 24 year old maleRight now what I have is Dior Homme (as far as I know it's the 2020 version that I have) and Chanel Allure Homme Sport. I like both of them, Dior Homme feels more loungey, evening and romantic, while Chanel Allure Homme Sport seems to be way more casual and fresher, not too distracting and fitting for everyday use. I was wondering where these fragrances are placed in categories like these >>17011830 so I would have a better understanding of what to expect. Which ones are similar to the ones I've mentioned? Also of course I've taken note of the flowchart >>17011833 but wondered if something else could be recommended to someone like me.Also is it just me or smelling sprayed testing strips at stores can be misleading sometimes? I've just recently begun trying out scents at stores and it's always really hard to judge fragrances just by using those paper strips. I'm wondering if just ordering assorted testing kits would be a better strategy to figure out what you like. Are there any other strategies?
>>17016496just enjoy your youth and buy all the hyped sweet frags come back here when youre bitter balding burnt out from clown world and alone
>>17016496I'm a middle aged millennial with the taste of stinky and non mass pleasing niche fragrance. I really enjoy Dior Homme 2020 over intense or OG Homme. It's fresh but with a likeable twist. Different with Sauvage: screechy citruses, without any interesting edges.
>>17016496Dior Homme 2020 is a woody frag. It has the most in common with Terre d'Hermes and Molecule 01 as far as frags on the chart go, since it also contains a shitton of Iso E Super
>>17016505yeah DH2020 is definitely better than Sauvage. I still prefer Intense and Parfum from that line though
>>17016496>Also is it just me or smelling sprayed testing strips at stores can be misleading sometimesIt can be, your skin chemistry and the weather you wear it in can change a fragrance's overall scent. >>17016510Agree, Parfum is still great with the iris.
>>17016505Yeah, I don't have much knowledge in the area but I like that Dior Homme feels kind of subtle and suave but not entirely predictable.
