I don't have to imagine the smell. I'm enveloped in my scent cloud right now.
Did anyone pick up anything from the fragrancebuy dot ca sale? Got a few backup bottles but nothing new
any good cheap alternatives to Platinum Egoiste?looking for that kind of cooling fougere good for the summer
what fragrance will get my ex to take me back?
You're not wearing any outdated frags, right anon?
>>17006209Good? Maybehttps://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Franck-Olivier/Eau-de-Passion-Men-6867.html

>>17006221Versace blue jeans smells very good I don't know why she decided to talk about that one as "outdated"

>>17006335>Has complex scent molecules that have been fully banned in Europe for 2 decades due to safety concernsMmmmm
>>17006337OG Le Male isn't "outdated" either IMOIt's pretty modern smelling because of the sweet ambery vanilla and tonka base and there really aren't many good alternatives for it if you want this kind of sweetened fougere.
I currently wear anonymous by thalium.
>>17006213chloroform pour homme
>>17006369Yeah pretty much, I think that regular people don't really care and if it smells nice to them they really won't care if is "outdated" or not
>>17006213she's already fucking other guys bro, sorry to tell you.and they wear axe
Burberry hero gets a lot of hate because it costs 100$.But honestly the scent is so much better than blue fragrances. If this cost 50$ and had better performance it'd be an easy pick over blue frags.
https://www.macys.com/shop/product/macys-favorite-scents-20-pc.-discovery-set-for-him-her-created-for-macysnot too familiar with a lot of these. look like it's worth the money?
>>17006410Not really worth it those are tiny samples not the mini bottles from the picture
>>17006369Smells very dated and disgusting. Way too powdery.
>>17006416men's frags have only gotten more powdery since then though. just look at prada l'homme or dior homme intense
Okay bros this oil perfume is called Bint El Sudan, known as the Chanel No 5 of africa for its enduring popularity.I can only find bottles being sold by hodoo shops in the west, anyway somebody get a bottle and post about it pls. I'm to scaredhttps://africa-me.com/bint-el-sudan-a-fragrance-across-the-sands-of-time/Here is the cheapest bottle i found (in the USA)https://www.etsy.com/listing/1180798716/bintu-oil-perfume-bint-el-sudanThe company that makes it is owned by IFF which is one of the big flavoring companies so it should be safe unlike a lot of the cosmetics that come out of africa.
>>17006385>If this cost 50$ and had better performance it'd be an easy pick over blue fragsthat's a lot of "ifs"also everything is better than blue fragrances, that's hardly high praiseI hope Dior or Chanel will finally come up with something new instead of endless flankers to BdC and Sauvage. the blue frag trend has gotten so stale
>>17006209>>17006225thanks, this does sound good and the bottle isn't as unbearably hideous as Armaf Legesi, which is the other popular Platinum Egoiste clone apparently

Is being anosmic to Iso E Super a meme? Any way I can test it outside of buying Molecule 01 (which isn't even pure Iso E either, or so I heard)?

faggot kurdjian changed the color of eau noire from green to light piss yellow. fuck him.
>>17006447Shit looks like a voodoo bottle. Stay away.
>>17006213Armani Code, the original.
>>17006496I'm seeing pretty bad longevity and projection ratings for this one, which is in line with a bunch of Iso E bombs. Might be that like 50% of people don't really perceive it well, or at least grow noseblind to it before they can appreciate the drydown.Guess I'll have someone else wear Iso E-heavy scents and only check on them after a couple of hours.
>>17006488You can buy little bottles of perfume concentration iso e super from sellers on ebay, i will link a usa seller but there are ones in Europe too. It's just 25% iso e in perfumers alcohol. This is essentially identical to molecule 1 because that's the only ingredient in ithttps://www.ebay.com/itm/133365924394They have even smaller sample bottleshttps://www.ebay.com/itm/132512319553
>>17006507It's just smelly oil man
>>17006504I find artificial colouring in frags pretty tacky. The piss tone is the most natural and might just be its actual colour, although I'm sure lots of producers still use artificial colouring to achieve that degree of yellow, to trick people into believing there's more in the juice.
>>17006525i liked the green color in eau noire, it fits the scent perfectly
>>17006514Terre d'Hermes and Encre Noire are also heavy on Iso E. TdH is a pretty strong performer too

>>17006496I sprayed on my wrist on Sunday afternoon in the store, 2020 version Homme EDT. Couldn't smell it in the morning but suddenly it started performing for me at work(desk job) all day. Guys,Are there any fragrances with real oud in it?
>>17006572Yes but they aren't worth to money, fredric malle has some frag with real oud that costs about $650 a bottle, it probably has half a ml of real oud in it.There are some small scale indy companies that make some, like Areej le Doré but again they dont use much.Just buy some oud and wear it, promise it is plenty complex on it's own.https://www.pureoudh.com/product-category/oils/There are also some attar sellers on etsy that use it, again very pricey stuff.https://www.etsy.com/shop/RisingPhoenixPerfumeThere is also this guyhttps://www.etsy.com/shop/ScentsbySkandaAnd this guy makes perfume with real oud tooAlong with loads of expensive natural florals and real animal muskshttps://tsvgaparfvms.com/https://www.luckyscent.com/brand/867/tsvga-parfums
got a sample of rien intense incense, not at all what i expected, it's a smooth/sweet incense with some leather undertones. very wearable
Can anyone redpill me on this one?Good fragrance for the whole year? how about the longevity?
>>17006684Oh wow another fragrance billed as an avant-garde stinky perfume that's Not For The Plebs™ that's actually wholly unremarkable and extremely accessible? Say it aint so.
>>17006631Thanks for the links. Ill make sure to check them out.
>>17006690I wouldn't get anything from L'Oreal brands if you care about performance, they water down their scents at random so you never know how they'll performit's also just a really generic and bog-standard blue fragrance. wear it if you want to smell okay but don't want to stand out, ever.
I caved and bought a bottle of stupid expensive smokey woody pineapple water.
This is really sweet and powdery, not what I expected at all. I thought it'd be this really deep, slightly dark yet fresh fragrance, not dusted lemon candy...

>>17006768>At that price point just get it yourself. I'm not in the US but I might search for a bottle of that stuff hereYeah I'm being a cheapass, i found cheap bottles in canada and on ebay there is a seller in france and one in the UK
>>17006768>You rating the first 30 seconds of it or what? No, I've tried it on once already, now's the second time. I do like the vetiver in this, it goes kind of grassy and hay-like on me, but I'm surprised by the amount of sweetness, I think I'm even getting vanilla.Maybe it'll grow on me, but this sure isn't what I expected.
>>17006782Gotta say that it's possible that I'm biased if it's vanilla, because I basically grew up wearing Le Male (half full bottle forgotten by the previous occupant of the hostel room). It's not that sweet to me anymore after years of Le Male.

>>17007367I bought it a month ago and the reformulations have destroyed it. Duration of 2-3 hours. And I'm not exaggerating. Still smelling good
>>17006146Say it with me: The natural and niche perfumery scene is a devastatingly accurate example of mindless consumerism of people who think what they buy makes them special. Natural perfumes cannot encompass the olfactory nuances that synthetics allow and are often touted by dishonest businessmen who often times ravage ecosystems in order to get their hands on these natural fragrant materials. The natural perfumery market is full of opportunists, aggressive marketing, and dishonest business practices like fake Fragrantica reviews and price inflation.I will judge the quality of a fragrance based on its smell alone.I will not fuss over synthetic vs. natural ingredients because it simply does not matter.I will not fuss over niche. vs. designer vs. masstige because it simply does not matter.Natural perfumes are not investments. Their value is about the same as any other bottle of perfume, except when marketing drives prices up.By reciting this, I am henceforth declaring myself to be a reasonable, well-informed consumer who will make wise financial and aesthetic decisions.

Leave one in the car and you'll get all three. If you need to carry a frag with you then get a cheap atomizer. And if you absolutely have to have a full bottle for daily use with you in the car then keep it in its original box and put it in the glove box or something to keep it cool and dry. That'll keep it good for a little while, at least. But you're better off just using an atomizer instead.

I am honestly thankful that barely anyone close to where I live use Sauvage. I caught a whiff of it today for the first time in ages and it was nauseating.

>>17008258Not yet. I have ESP and ESE is on my "to test"-list. I think there might have been none of it at any store around. Will try to cop a sample (testers aren't really sold in Germany). I'm currently compiling a list of stuff to sample next, anyway. The current Eau Sauvage didn't convince me, though, mostly due to lacking performance (unacceptable at that price point).

is Essential Parfums a meme?
post frags that /frag/ told you were a meme but actually weren't
>>17008659Dior Homme Intense>>17008736XerJoff Naxos at retail price. For the winter.>>17008988No, the fragrances are somewhat nice niche frags, some can be a bit polarizing. They contain many natural ingredients. I would recommend getting the sample set, its price is also counted towards the purchase of a full bottle, in case you like any of them.
Alexandria Frags are the shit boyos.
>>17009030Ive been eyeballing the essential set, but theyre out of most everything rn
>>17009025Any of the top 10 frags on major youtubers or polling lists>reee bleu de chanel and Dior homme sucksno you're just a contrarian
>>17009042Probably supply chain issues. Affects a lot of fragrances at the moment.
>>17009044I mostly agree, minus Sauvage which I genuinely dislike
>>17009052Oh wait it wasn't essential, it was Matiere PremiereFuck essential lmao
>>17009032How close is Alexandria clone juice Old Story to Platinum Egoiste? Are they at all similar?
>>17009107Alexandria clone juice is garbageTotal assJust buy those smells like oils from sketchy sellers on eBay, that faggot just buys those and then mixes them with alcohol and bottles them in his basement, he dosent make anything. Sometimes he mixies two clone oils in the same bottle and calls it his special invention. Guy doesn't even know what hes selling, said for years it was 100% puere natural essential oils when that's not how perfume works at all

>>17009216Because it fucking smells god to dumb ass blond girls and that's all that matters nonody cares about you fedora lords jerking eachothers peckers about how your tastes as so advanced and you are just too good to wear the most popular mens perfume. More loads have been dumped into bitches to the smell of sauvage than the rest of the top 10 sellers combined, cry about it faggots
>>17009227If you'd bothered to read the reply chain instead of instantly seething over the fact that a fragrance you own got dissed you'd see that the problem isn't its popularity but rather the fact that it smells bad. It's vomit-inducing. >i-it smells good to women who know nothing of perfume!!!so same as absolutely every frag with even the slightest bit of sillage?
anyone tried Mon Vetiver from Essential Parfums?lime and gin + vetiver soudns nice
>>17009237No dumbass it smells good to women, not your faggy sour pickles and sandalwood shit. They don't like that. I was just reminding you that you are a faggot and your opinion is worth less than shit, nobody trying to wear frags to impress your pimply ass

>>17009243>No dumbass it smells good to women, not your faggy sour pickles and sandalwood shitall the art hoes go crazy for Santal 33 though and that's literally what it smells likethe truth is that women will like almost any fragrance an attractive man wears and they won't like your douchy ass even if you douse yourself in sauvage and eros
is TF tobacco oud worth trying? i see people raving about it now that it's supposedly discontinued but i'd hate to drive an hour just to be gravely disappointed
>>17009291No every discontinued frag gets hyped to hell and back and 90% of the time they aren't anything special
>>17009291I haven't tried that one. I do want to try Oud Minerale though, I guess that one anon's shilling worked on me. A truly marine scent with no generic citrus aquatic vibe sounds great.

You guys ever have someone say, or read, that a fragrance smells "like X" which then ruined the scent for you because you're now aware of it? Which?
>>17006158Is there a good American site where I could get a set of samples with a bunch of the center fragrances in this infographic? The list in the OP is primarily European, and I'm not sure how to judge the repute of online shops.Basically, I just want to try one or two from each category and go from there.
Curious if anyone can help me pinpoint what is so awful to these scents. I recently got ~30 samples and would like to avoid anything similar. Of course I have looked at the notes but I also feel like I can never smell or identify most of the notes listed in 90% of frags. Never had the coof afaik.>Lyric Man (Amouage)horrible at first but becomes laundry detergent/air freshener. So irritating to my nose I had to scrub it off after 2 hours. Was sent Man when I ordered woman.>Cheeky Smile (JUSBOX)absolutely horrible. worst frag I have ever smlled. I would rather walk around with piss on me. All synthetic, harsh, like sticking your nose in freshly sprayed alcohol but for over 8 hours. Tried to scrub off the SINGLE spray on my wrist twice at sink throughout day, and it remained, had to wait to scrub 3 times in the shower to remove. Gave my bf a headache. NOTHING like this on fragrantica, so I dunno if my sample was just bad. It was a manufacturer vial with cutesy packaging.>Arabians Tonka (Montale)Is it the rose I hate in all of these? way too prominent and has a weird alcoholic smell that never chills out, much like the cheeky smile but not as acrid>Roses Vanille (Mancera)again such a strong smell, great projection and long-lasting, but it just isn't pleasant enough for the strength to be a good thing. Doesn't smell like vanilla at all, just floral and citronella-yAlso, can someone redpill me on the hate for xerjoff here? I only got a vial of the Tommy Iommi one and it was the absolute best out of all the samples in like every way. ALSO sorry for the megapost but Rouge Smoking by BDK was a close second, but I wasn't a huge fan of the first few hours. The drydown was the best sweet, sensual, addictive vanilla scent. If anyone has smelled it and can point me to something that smells that way all the time I'd be grateful.
>>17009377The other day I tried YSL Y Parfum. It has a strong orange note. At very first I couldnt figure it out, then i read the notes and all I could smell was the persistent orange.

Wore City on Fire sample today. The initial spray is a little too much like a burning tire fire, but it mellows out to a very nice incense woody smell.

>>17010333There's a couple from Demeter that supposedly do, Rain and Petrichor, but Demeter frags are notorious for having terrible performance. There are Le Labo Baie 19 and Byredo Gypsy Water that some people say have a petrichor smell to them. And Narciso Rodriguez for Him edt is said to smell like the concrete after a rain but unfortunately it's been discontinued.
>>17010083wear whatever you want here.just dont over do it with the sprays if using a heavier, warmer fragrance.
Drakkar noir came...Idk why i bought this when i hate lavender, it smells like a more upscale lavender toilet air freshener. All i pick up is lavender bros, why tf is this called a "fougere" when there's barely any floral in it aside from lavender?I wanna die fragbros...
>>17010473>why tf is this called a "fougere" when there's barely any floral in it aside from lavender"fougere" doesn't mean floral, it means "fern". fougeres are green herbal scents with prominent lavenderyou could try The Dreamer if you want a more floral fougere at a similar pricepoint
>>17010492Yeah i don't get a "green" note from it. Lavender, soap and leather are the only things i can smell.I know they removed oakmoss so maybe that's why?
>>17010502most of the green herbal notes kind of blend together into an old school soapy accordat least you didn't spend too much on it and you have that super cool bottle nowDrakkar Noir bottle is one of my favorites, despite being a bit cheap looking. there's just some unpretentious yet iconic charm about it
>>17010521It smells vintage and that's cool, i happen to not like lavender that much i think
>>17010333Gust look for Geosmin oil perfumes
>>17010473Just force yourself to wear it a few times. If you still cant stand it put it in the bathroom to spray after you shit
>>17010473Should have bought Paco PH you little faggot
>>17007832He asked if it was a good fragrance for the whole year, so go fuck yourself.
>>17010473It's really not that bad, I revisited DN recently and was utterly delighted with it. You have to get over your attitude conditioned by repros of this formula and recognize it for the elegant concoction it is. It's always a hazard with older frags, people are inclined to say "this is soapy!!" or "this smells like a urinal cake!" when really so many soaps and hygienic products were shoddy repros of this, unfortunately lending that impression on the OG for the future. If you can get over it, there's a wealth of old frags that are absolutely solid and not too pricey either.
Babby's first colognes are on order, thanks for all of the info. I tried to get one from each category in the infographics up top. Hopefully I find something I like in here.I expected to spend more than €41, so I'm pleased.
>>17010767My dad recongized it instantlt should i just give it to him lol?
>>17010775I'd sit with it some day and just try to notice its development beyond sweeping generalizations like "soap" or something, wearing it on your skin I mean. Give all your frags another chance before tossing them or giving them away.

Those are some good fragrances.>>17010853Even the "faux-niche" fragrances are in that price range. 250€ for Aventus nowadays. Fragrances have hit the mainstream and it has increased demand and ruined prices.
