Nothing serves to inflame the inferiority complex of the so-called modern man more than the sight of another man putting in effort. It's a race to the bottom with these people.

>>16999941Mishima was not only effay as fuck but is a great source of inspiration for fighting cultural decay and for commentary on the death of effort.
>>16999951It is sad indeed that people don't put any effort into what they wear anymore and people who do are scorned, even the poorest in society in the past tried to look respectable.
>>16998915Sounds based, suits intimidate and anger the normies and retards. The amount of seethe a simple suit can cause on /fa/ is incredible
>>17000082Funny isn't it how such a simple item of clothing worn by all classes for decades causes so much seething by people who think wearing a pair of jeans and a dress shirt is ''dressing up''
>>16999966The death of suiting is only a symptom of the greater cultural attitudes we face. Obesity is another.
>>16999913Very accurate . Cultural decay.
>>16999966By the standards of the 1930's, those guys were dressed like bums. However, they understand something a lot of anons ITT do not. You either get to dress how you want to, or you have to dress like someone else wants you to. In understanding this, you understand your standing on the social ladder.
>>16998915All professional clothes are a costume.I am sometimes expected to wear a suit at work, when visiting clients or if we organize an event. My brother is a chef, he does not even own a suit. But he wears aprons and stuff that I do not own.
>>16998915>wear a suit>people ask if i'm going to a job interview>people mistake me for a security guardEven worse now in tech... everyone tries to dress like fucking zuckercuck or steve jobs, no one wears formal clothingThey're shocked I wear a button down and shoes, even this is over dressed... for a fucking analyst/data scientist. I walk down the street and if I'm wearing a white shirt 100% chance of homesless people approaching and begging for money (city of london). Fucking pieces of shit probably make more money then me and don't even pay rent. the worst is that women will 100% throw them selves at a guy wearing a suit even if the guy next to him in a t shirt is his boss and makes 100x because they can't understand how money/status actually works. Those guys are posing for a wedding photo, anyone wearing a suit and not working in a high tier job/business is cringe/autism, and if they wear one whilst not being mandated by their employer too.
>>17000934I like menswear but the fact that people think all it is office attire or shit autist wear make me stay away from it, shame because experimenting with patterns and colours is so much fun.

>>16999913The industrialist uniform (note the meaning of that word, uniform, as in the same) is not a good thing. It’s intentionally void of choice and customization, because you aren’t you while wearing a uniform, you are your profession. It is literally a costume If you want to act in bad faith, go ahead.
>>17001586If you have a repectable profession you naturally identify with it and the people you share it with. Natural in group forming. They are now your "tribe". Which kinda explains why non-ingroup people get salty, when people belonging to the suit-tribe self-assuredly walk around them. As well why non-suit-tribe people will degade and trash talk them (unattentive to the fact that they themself are dressing in a uniform manner to their tribe (skater, goth, zoom-normie pop-culture, you name it). They all have their uniform, while claiming that they themself are individualisticly dressed. Same goes for other professions like stay at home mothers or even a lack therefore like NEETs. It's basic human animal nature. And everything ou claim about suit bots, will also catch up with your own style.
>>17001613Shakespeare was right. All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are merely players. There are, however, degrees of freedom here. Yes, in the presence of others you always play a role to some extent, but that does not justify choosing to play one that is particularly inauthentic.
>>17001668There is nothing more inauthentic in a suit than there is in a tee and jans. If anything the suit evolved over century and has a rich historicall background, where jeans were used for cow herding and tshirts are nothing more than wearing ones underwear as th only layer. I would argue that a suit, due to that historical evolution, has much more option for heavyweight individual adjustments, be it in cut, fabric, colour or accesoires as well as the combination of all the above. You have half a millenium of inspiration and multiple layers on which to project your inner world. A suit doesn't equal buying a slim fit black off the rack one like million other people or getting prescribed a specific one without room for personal taste from your employer. Check out how people working for the BigFour dress. Despite their suits their fits have much more character tha your random no-suit employe going to work in the same H&M jeans and hoodie over a random band shirt made in Taiwan or Bangladesh.

>>17001586To call suits industrialist uniforms is intellectually dishonest. Suiting throughout the 20th century has more in common with historical Western dress than what is worn today. The death of suiting coincided with a shift towards that which had only recently been made possible by globalist trade and manufacturing practices which were most strongly entrenched during Modernity.Acting in bad faith is calling the suit the industrialist uniform when the blue jeans were born of needs specifically in tune with the development of the America West. The suit is a descendant of earlier eras than industrialism. The necktie is a scarf after all.
>>17001261I think people forget that being clean was a privilege. I do agree that those suits look good, but this clothing has a lot of purpose to it. Chemise\shirt keeps sweat from jacket, jackets are probably adjusted to suit them perfectly, and shoe making was much better because things were made to last. Then compare it to OP's picture. They wear those suits because its considered "decent". It looks better than t-shirt + sweatpants, sure, but its just vanity. Most suits nowadays are poorly fitted either way, unless you're the biggest hipster in your city, i guess.
The only people I see wearing suits are kids going to prom, government workers, and europeans
I don't have a wagie corporate job, I am largely involved in academic research but otherwise I am involved in bioinformatics at a startup. I regularly deploy my suit in circumstances of demonstrating my respect for others - e.g. meeting with new clients/professionals, interviewing, delivering a presentation, attending a function which isn't explicitly casual, etc. If you don't wear a suit for scenarios like those which I have laid out, you are probably not white - if you happen to be ethnically white, you certainly don't behave as such. Sure, the suit is largely viewed as being a signifier of status but it is also a signifier of respect. It takes little effort to be presentable, it is the least you could do.

They might have been seen as poor, but they strives to at least resemble dignity and elegance on a budget. Today’s trends are hot garbage and show no actual generational growth.
