There was a link to a company that made custom-made Go-To-Hell (GTH) trousers. You basically chose the main colour and the pattern to print on them. Does anyone still have it?
/tip/, this is the thread where we fix the pants situation. This is getting ridiculous. It really should not be difficult to find quality, American-made dress pants and chinos that aren't made for dudes who skip leg day. If I could get some relaxed fit and boot-cut that would make my day. The old-school chino cuts are fine but you can't get away with that wearing dress pants.

Does Vanderbilt fit the ivy aesthetic. Looking at MBA programs and I’m between vandy and ut Austin. I already have two degrees from public schools so I would like to go somewhere more prestigious (ie not a public school). Not going to an actual ivy bc fuck yankees.

>>16455249Why would you choose an MBA program based on their ivy aesthetic?
>>16455297Get a Timex Fairfield or Tissot Everytime (Quartz version) instead. Maybe a Timex Marlin would be up your alley too.
>>16455378I’m in between the two. Mccombs is ranked higher by like two places, but as I said I’ve only ever gone to public schools.
>>16455249I went to McCombs for undergrad. There are a lot of opportunities in Austin for MBAs. You could pretty much do whatever you want there and get paid a shitload of money. Big tech is throwing money around like crazy in the city now.I have no opinion on Vanderbilt, just throwing out that Austin is in a massive boom and shows no sign of slowing down.
>>16455483I work in environmental consulting as a geologist and am hoping to pivot to management consulting as somebody that specializes in sustainability. Do you know which has the best connections to either consulting or F500 engineering firms? Hoping to either be in TN or TX but I’m not very interested in tech.I was interested in Nashville for the same reason.
>>16453660L.L. Bean duck boots are nice casual start, for more formal occasions look into a vintage pair of Allen Edmonds 5th Street boot (or similar), I own a pair myself and they're pretty cozy.
>>16455249Fuck off we're full>>16455518There are plenty of engineering firms in Nashville with Vandy connections, the larger ones tend to recruit there heavily because of the out-of-town population. Where are you trying to work? A big firm like Stantec or Wood? Or one of the smaller local outfits? And did you ever decide what to wear to work the other day
>>16456234>A big firm like Stantec or WoodExactly where I’m hoping to work. >>16457139If you are planning on staying in the Nashville area (or really any area for a significant amount of time) you may want to consider finding a private- or employee-owned local/regional firm instead of one of the big players. The consulting market in niche stuff like geology/geotechnical engineering is the same and working for woke public firms isn't /tip/.

Well my suede desert boots finally bit the dust and I'm in need of a new pair of everyday shoes. I know I want a pair of loafers, but I'm torn between calf or suede. On one hand I like that suede is more casual and hides scuffs better, and beat up suede shoes can even look good in their own way. On the other hand I feel like calf loafers would probably last longer if taken care of(can suede even be conditioned?) and would work with a wider range of styles. Thoughts on which to go for?
>>16465464Suede can be conditioned. It's effectively just fuzzy leather and needs a special array of stuff to protect its fuzziness.
>>16464925I suspect there's an internal conflict going on in the Gentlemen's Gazette teamIn the beginning the black guy wore only suits and didn't show up in many videos at all. But lately he has been making more videos and they're all casual.I suspect that the black guy doesn't like suits at all and was pressured into wearing it to go with the channel's theme, but he's making ground in convincing them that there is an audience for casual stuff
Is this red cardigan cringe?
>>16465749I know about suede erasers and suede brushes but can you use regular leather conditioner? I might just go with brown calf loafers so I can use the shoe care stuff I already have.

It's 2021. Formality is at an all time low, people are working from home, and comfort is over emphasized. All the boomer and department store menswear brands will die out or shift to casual clothing. The suit is dead and fast fashion has won but there is good news. The big box brands that think they can get away with making cheap clothes and pass it off as high quality using their name alone no longer have a leg to stand on because all that is left in the menswear market are men who want to dress well because they like it. Men with a discerning eyes against fast fashion. In our case, men who want to preserve the legacy of our grandfathers and fathers. Small clothing makers and ateliers are coming into the market to fill the vacuum and we should support them. I won't mention any here because they're not that hard to find(nice to see Berg & Berg get mentioned in this thread) but I will say the OP is lacking considering half the brands listed sold out to China or can't design a simple shirt anymore despite being the inventors of certain styles they continue to reject their own legacy.

>>16481761>wearing logosJ. Press is at the same quality level but doesn't have any logos on their polos
>>16483062>t. poorfag who doesn't know about vintage polosad that this is who tells you to lurk moar
>>16481761I think they are a bit overpriced for the quality you are getting but so is RLP imo
How do I pull this off without looking like a larping dork

I got a 100$ gift card for Shoepassion from work and wanted to grab some black leather loafers.Currently trying to decide between these two:>https://www.shoepassion.com/mens-loafers/no-780.html>https://www.shoepassion.com/no-5296.htmlI feel like the 780s might be a bit too chunky.5296s would be exactly what I was looking for if it wasn't for the split toe shit that's so common for European shoemakers.Does anyone have some input?
>>16484616whats wrong with split toe D:
>>16484815It looks like a penis
>>164778462 fingers below the belly button
>>16455297DW isn't preppy, but the aspired "dress watch" look is. Omega, Jaeger lecoultre, Rolex etc. tend more towards preppy brands because they actually existed for a while and proven their worth and quality (which is what prep is about basically).
>>16452721https://oxfordclothbuttondown.com is down
>>16484818penises are aesthetic
>>16455378This. Future over fashion.

Post fall inspo
>>16467179Love this. What are essential items for a modern Charlie look?
>>16487672I desperately need corduroy trousers for fall and winter.
i caved in and bought this today. it didnt cost much but im trying to conserve cash so i was hesitant to buy it. in the end it was too tempting, i love the colour and pattern too much. hopefully the lapel configuration doesnt leave it looking too formal, but i doubt it. its a dogtooth flannel jacket made by austin reed.
>>16487996heres a closeup of the sleeve to show the pattern more clearly
>>16463921I would if I could figure out what stores at a regular mall would sell stuff like this. I feel weird shopping there being almost 30.
>>16488034 Looks good. Post a fit when you get it. I'm rocking Houndstooth today
>>16489136 >MallNever gonna make it
>>16489198alright, but online stores aren't trustworthy. idk where their product is made nor what materials they use. not to mention sizing.
>>16489197the macro looks like you have a green hand squeezing the shit out of your crotch
>>16479166is this from a movie?
>>16482986you sift through pieces of shit to see which is the biggest?
Could I pull this off as a 23 year old STEM student? It's kinda casual enough to wear with chinos, dark jeans and dress pants but I never wore sport jackets before except for weddings. It's a Varteks made in Croatia (EU) jacket with Loro Piana Zelander merino wool fabric and it's on a discount rn so I can get for around 150€.
>>16489279so you're saying you take it in the ass?
Is there a guide to footwear for women? I work in a lab, so I need something that covers my toes and top of my foot.
>>16489308No. That color/pattern is usually associated with the 70s in my opinion, and you really have to be experienced in the style to look good in it. Go for a basic single color light grey wool sports jacket if you're new. Way more versatile. And avoid meme elbow patches.
Any overcoat inspo? Was thinking about investing in a nice woolen overcoat for this winter, I only have a carcoat thing I use to layer with sweaters right now
>>16489197Good fit, into the inspo folder it goes
>>16489197will do, anon. i like the socks btw. still trying to figure out how i wanna do shit like socks and ties.
>>16489693Loafers look very cute on women
God I'm so glad we have a tasteful trad president again. Trump was the most tasteless noveau riche since McCarthy
>>16489706Why avoid elbow patches? I love those
>>16490526Elbow patches are at the same fashion level as ripped jeans
>>16490526Because they are rarely on the level of the elbow, look at your own picrel
>>16490526I think they're fine if they're actual patches, but look stupid on brand-new jackets.
>>16490526If they are sewed on when they become necessary, ie on a well worn jacket and actually in the right spots, they can look great. If they are on a brand new jack sewed in at the manufacturer they make you look like a LARP'ing retard 99% of the time.
Cheaper alternatives to the g9 baracuta jacket? I want a jacket that looks preppy.
>>16489308Why not just buy an overcoat with that pattern? Sport jackets look tacky and that one with the elbow patches is atrocious.
>>16491308Ben Sherman harringtons are about half the price
>>16491517Wow, I think that is the best name I've ever heard!I mean, it's fun to say and easy (hopefully) to remember so...thanks!!
>>16489308Skip the meme-patches, you're not a 80's USA professor. Otherwise it's a good and very versatile choice. Don't listen to the retards above
>>16477857their clothes look nice, they just need jawline implants
>>16491841stop trying to normalize inbreeding
>>16477134Just knit one yourself, cables are super easy to do and you can get really nice yarn for less than a hundred dollars to make it
What do you guys think about this wool sweater style/patter? It’s used I’m a poor fag but trying to start somewhere
>>16492864A bit loud but I like it anon. Be sure you don't mix and match too many patterns. Wear this with simple dark brown, black, or grey chinos or if you insist, regular dark navy jeans. Also make sure it fits you well and isn't super oversized.
>>16492864ugly af, looks like some garbage an eboy would wear
>>16492864Drake's is a great brand even if it is a little over priced but some of their pieces only work if you're wearing the whole outfit from Drake's. I would stick to their staple items. They make plenty of other great knitwear. Picrel is one of my grails but I'm also a poorfag so keep looking anon.
>>16477317theres a surplus store near me that is constantly full of them, in every size and color, priced around 29.99
anyone have good recommendations on secondhand/vintage suit shopping? sports coats? I'm trying to compile an ebay list. I know the obvious ones like Ralph and Brooks Brothers.
>>16493049Listen to >>16492948
>>16493313>>16492948Yea I think I decided against it thanks guys
w2c a loose coat for skeletons like this lad? what do you even call these?
>>16493223No, it’s a complete gamble. I manage a thrift store and I’d wager over 95% of the blazers and suits I get are irredeemable trash, and most of those are in ridiculous sizes or have had absurd alterations done to them. The odds of you finding a decent quality second hand suit in measurements that fit are very small.Just buy online or spend the money on a new suit.
hello /tip/i've recently bought a Hugo Boss coat for winter, it looks almost identical to the pic. However, I don't know what to wear with it except for suits that I wear to work. I would be glad if you gave me some advice. thanks
>>16493674start wearing suits outside of work
>>16493674With that kind of lapels you pretty much need a thick scarf or suit under it, everything else will make you look badly put together.
>>16493730based response, thank you anons
>>16493674>except for suitsSuit and no suit require 2 different coat sizes. You could wear it with shirt and sweater if the coat was smaller.
>>16493223Thrift stores are a waste of time like the other anon said but if you have a curated vintage store near you then it might be worth a shot. I’ve never had luck with suits or blazers but I’ve found some amazing wool and corduroy trousers at my local shopsEither that or just scour ebay/ etsy
>>16477857I wonder how JP’s doing
>>16494267>thrift stores are a waste of timemaybe if you live in some back woods shithole. but then again, if you live in a backwoods shithole, you can't be /tip/. funny how that works
>>16494289I live in one of the biggest cities in the US
>>16494304sure you do pal
So I know everyone’s style is different I like a lot of the styles in here, I just personally hate almost all the shoes people post. The only style I like is like the classic boat shoes. How do you guys feel about wearing a more rugged style boot like red wing or Irish setter but with chinos, fair isle sweaters and maybe a grey wool coat? Pic related I have a pair of these volcom boots I love.
>>16494507I’m gonna run to the nearest recognizable monument and post a timestamp
>>16494539that looks like utter trash anon. just fucking disgusting. Surely there is an actually nice pair of boots that is appealing to you
>>16494543I’m also a poor fag. I dropped like $140 on this pair but a darker shade of brown. That was the most I had ever spent on a shoes before. I honestly just think all these chukkas and what not are gay as fuck, it’s just not me
>>16494552>>16494543I’m sure I could find a better pair. I just honestly don’t even know where to start. These are similar to what I like. I’ll have to ask my grandpa I think he had a pair of L L bean boots he always wore that were nice.
>>16494554bean boots are nice. honestly you could probably get away with just wearing those when it rains or snows then wearing normal sperry’s with thick wool socks when it’s cold.Though I think what really put me off the pairs you posted is their thick and chunky profile. Maybe try something a little bit sleeker like pic related? You could always layer some socks underneath if you need
Copped two shetland wool crewnecks from Natalino recently. I can't attest to the rest of their shit, but these are so damn good as the shorter length looks much better with tailoring. I mailed them to see if they'd restock which they won't. Disregard this if you're a fellow manlet, only big sizes left now.
>>16494593>Though I think what really put me off the pairs you posted is their thick and chunky profile.I get it lol. i bought them before i was really getting into dressing nicer at all. i usually wear them with Jeans and what not. i know they are not really meant to go with /tip/ stylepic related are the ones i was talking about. i didnt realize these are considered chukkas actually. i like these ones alot too.
>>16494886larp conrirmed. do us a favor and post ur fit too
>>16494902They never do anon
>>16493335A trench coat.
Advice on where to buy flannels? Spier and Mackey seems like it has way too little inventory.
>>16495857post a fit and ill tell you
>>16459643Same, I thought they were just watching a blown up picture of sonic.
>>16495857 Proper Cloth
>>16493735any sort of waistcoat can help with that look desu
>>16476396It's nice enough though a little unremarkable, though if you like it and see yourself wearing it then cop.But personally I'd have gone for a V-neck or tank top style if it was a tennis jumper I was after
