thanks for the heads up on the pattern, wont waste my money on it.

do collars make much of a difference in terms of viable uses?
>>
>>15350484
Extreme cutaways look odd with small tie knots and long collars in general can look outdated. Some can have contrasting stitching, which is more casual, but it varies according to each piece and personal taste. Styling-wise, for casual use, these are my main concerns. Quality-wise, look for collars and cuffs that have an interlining on them, they are a lot comfier and may help towards the shirt lasting longer.
Really, comfort-wise they are as good as a tshirt.
>>
>>15350496
interlining?
>>
>>15350575
Like a suit, a cheap shirt will have fused collar and cuffs. It means that they are made out of 2 pieces of cloth (sometimes 3) glued together in order to give it shape. Some pieces have a third piece of cloth sewn between the 2 surfaces that makes it hold its shape while maintaining its flexibility. It is worse in jackets, because there the fused part will be in contact with your body all the time and it is not breatheable at all, but it is still nice to have a good shirt with non-fused cuffs and collars.
I only have 1 shirt that has them like this, though. They are quite hard to find on RTW.

where the FUCK do I buy good linen shirts.

Proper cloth / other M2M really neglect linen. They have so few options compared to other fabrics. RTW options I've found usually only offer slim fit, have weird sizing, or the colours/patterns are after thoughts.

I found some niche italian m2m offerings, but the price points are hard to justify (like 200 euro starting).
>>
>>15351018
Isto.pt, a rather decent shirt going for 70. The collars and cuff are interlined, runs a bit wide (as it should) but the buttons are cheap corozo ones.
>slim fit linen
What the hell? Linen needs to be roomy because it doesn’t stretch at all. If it is slim, you probably wouldn’t be able to wear it with the button colar on comfortably.

kek unironically that. most fucking blokes have something going on in their heads, almost every fella has some interest he can talk about, something he does which he can talk about with others, and rarely do you find a bloke whos a total arsehole who isnt also a fucking loser. women tho, theres way too fucking many of them who are just fucking empty behind the eyes, nothing to them besides their vagina and what gets it wet.
>>
>>15354772
The guy replied to wasn't me (the gay NIBBA) but he's actually right, every time I ask a girl something she responds with between two or five words, they have no substance nor charisma and most certainly no intellect. I personally love art and so with conversations I bring it up sometimes, anyway, the women also say they love art yet they can't tell you who made the school of Athens or what the painting/sculpture represents or is trying to represent etc. Another point is that they love modern art for some fucking reason so they also have very poor taste. Oh and let's not look over the fact that most of them are whores.

>>
>>15357394
I'd say the socks match the blazer in colour, the blazer looks textured so it's not soo suity but I see what you mean. Leather sole vs danite sole?
>>
>>15357419
>Leather sole vs danite sole?
For office I think leather, for overall use dainite is more versatile because it lasts longer.
>>
>>15357042
The actual problem with this (apart from not actually being a suit as one anon pointed out) is that his pants are too short and that he's worn socks with a pair of loafers that practically demand that you go sockless. He generally dress like a goober though, so who's surprised?

we borrowed 550bn going into this, then proceeded to kneecap our economy by shutting down all non-essential businesses. the effect of this has been to bankrupt countless small to medium businesses while large corporations that can adapt to the huge bump in overhead rake in profits their competitors are legally prohibited from challenging. before this we were filing paperwork for a 25k business loan to buy a fishing vessel, with several grand in the bank. if that paperwork had gone through before lockdown hit we would now be bankrupt, and depending on the work situation we might well be anyway before the years over.

right now the government is increasing business taxes quietly behind the scenes to try and make up for the massive expenditures it created for itself by paying everyone to be unemployed, and theres rumours of a coming 40% minimum income tax. in other words i will be losing half of my wages to pay for cunts to take a 4 month long paid holiday (we didnt qualify for the grant due to government date fuckery, by the way) for the foreseeable future. furthermore, what businesses survive this will be severely hurt by the prolonged period of 0 income and potentially degraded assets. during all of this bullshit that we were made to endure to "save our NHS" the conservatives refused to even control the borders let alone close them, in spite of the obvious concerns given we were all in lockdown to control the spread of a virus. but it gets worse still.

to add insult to injury, the "black lives matter" protests that have conveniently sprang up in our country in the last month have resulted in a great deal of destruction of our historic monuments, and the "conservative" governments response to this has been to tell them that theyre wrong and theyre being very naughty, while doing nothing to actually protect these statues save for one statue of churchill they chose to board up. historic figures from the left and the right are being pulled from building names, and books are being tossed out of universities. meanwhile, the scottish authorities saw fit to restrict all counter protesters to these fucking savages pretending to be british but allow the people who throw statues into rivers free reign. a recent ugov poll showed that apparently more non-white people in britain consider the country to be racist than not. there was also a recent conservative party policy leak which stated that their reaction to labours policy of mass migration which quite literally turned entire sections of cities from majority white to majority non-white over the course of 10 years (i know, i saw it with my own eyes growing up), is to simply cultivate a new generation of conservative politicians to cater to our newly christened countrymen who have made it quite clear they despise everything that we are and were, and wish to have us under their boot. were due a demographic census by next year, many are projecting we will be a majority non-white nation by that point and i strongly suspect we are right.

given my preference for liberty and also men, even if an outright ethnonationalist comes to power (which is clearly all but impossible here given established interests) there will be no future for us here. we see no option left but to simply pack up and leave. we plan on saving for a yacht which we can take with us to australia over the coming years ill take spiders and snakes over these fucking rodents any day.

>>
>>15362792
Thanks! I agree a tie would be good, I'm currently awaiting a couple summery shantung and madder ties to arrive to use in these warmer months. As for the formality of the jacket, it is a touch lighter blue than appears in the picture.
>>
>>15362798
>it is a touch lighter blue than appears in the picture.
No, the colour is fine imo it's just that it would look better with gold buttons, just to give a bit more contrast and also because it's a more of a casual look.
>>
>>15362691
I wouldn't go with white socks, they look too much like an athletic ones. Try gray or charcoal ones. But overall great outfit, and everything fits your body great
>>
>>15362809
Hmm, I see what you mean. The buttons are dark brown corozo. I have never used brass/gold buttons before (mostly due to the yuppie American connotations which they seem to have here in Finland) but they could work. Shuhei Nishiguchi uses them to great effect.
>>15362811
I mostly always use cream cotton socks with loafers because they are such an iconic ivy look of the 50's/60's- see e.g. https://streetxsprezza.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/going-ivy-with-white-socks/. That said, I usually only wear white socks with more casual separates, like the linen Natalinos in pic or dark denim or vintage chinos. With grey trousers, for example, I often go with other colours like grey.
>>
>>15362822
>The buttons are dark brown corozo
Ah okay then, they sort of look black unless you look carefully, I guess they are good but not as good as brass buttons ;)
>>
How could you wear white chinos?
>>
>>15362963
With a navy, brown, green, grey, blue etc. sports coat or chore coat or a jungle jacket or a field jacket or a safari jacket or a leather jacket... Or a sweater, a sweatshirt etc. For footwear, any brown shoes, black or burgundy loafers, white or blue canvas sneakers... To put it short, goes with absolutely everything.
>>

>>
>>15362963
if theyre off white, rather easily. pristine white though is a very showy colour, and i think it would be hard to pull off without looking clinical or at the very least quite summery.

>>

They are usually acceptable, nice colours and cool designs. For basics I recommend going for Brooks Brothers or others.

>>15362691

>>15362963

Right now Rancourt is doing a big sale on their basic loafers and ranger mocs. They are only charging cost and making and shipping them in bulk. $180 for shoes normally $285. Check out their website. If you're willing to wait a few months the deals are fantastic right now.

Australia is literally becoming a colony of China. It has no future either. Maybe worse than the US and Europe because once the coming goes rough, a bit portion of the migrants will go back to where they came from, whereas the chinks will definitely stay.
Lets hope that that rise in identity does happen. I am not that optimistic either, to be honest, as all attempts thus far have focused solely on reactionary politics, which is inherently flawed because it either tries to emulate a historical condition that is absolutely unapplicable for our age or, even worse and more commonly, creates a simulation of what the past was in order to try and apply it in the future.

No one gives a fuck if you don't want to dress like this, this is barely relevant to the question. You asked us why we dress like this and for most it's because it looks good, that's the main reason for most non-normies no matter the "sub-culture" (of course it's also to fit in but that person has to like the style first to try and fit in, sub-cultures are usually small and the people in it are considered strange so it doesn't get you any cool kid points, so to say) . Quite honestly you write like a nigger and you probably have the IQ of one as well. Like I said at the start, you mostly answered the question by yourself.

as I got closer towards graduating high school & being in college. the twee/mod/indie style was very appealing as it was close but different. drifted around in that for awhile but still retained a lot of ivy elements with it.
end of college and about a year after I gave streetwear/techwear a try. It's cool in concept and I respect the style but I realized it wasn't me as I'm a 6'3 athletic build white professional.
So here I am back to dressing /tip/ because it's what I know and I'm comfortable and look good in it.

>slim fit

Anon, I...
>>
>>15366883
Anything regular sized looks weird on me, I have a fucked up body.
>>
>>15366909
Slim fit just makes every part of the jacket slim so it has little tight arm holes to make skinny spaghetti arms look as though they fill a jacket out. Nothing really much to do with your body apart from being thin. You'd be better with a regular fit that is your right chest size but having it taper on the waist and on the arms.

La azul de lino-algodón tiene buena pinta
>>
>>15366916
Man this shit can become complicated. I guess I'll eventually try a regular sized M and compare that fit to this, when actual physical stores open up.

>>15366917
pero tal vez demasiado azul clara :/
>>
>>15366854
Darker one is way more versatile
>>
>>15366854
I like the blue one, but you definitely need to check these pieces on person. The pics on their website is not always consistent with the pieces.
The fabric sort of looks like denim, so beware. Don't think I would buy.
>>
>>15366981
The fabric is listed in the description, as it always is... They're 100% wool.
>>
>>15366883
Jackets being slim is actually more trad than the wide suits of the 50s through 90s, as we discussed last thread, but...
>>15366916
This point is valid. The proportions of slim fit jackets are often messed up, which is another factor to encourage you to try this on. Take pictures and send them here, we won't be mean, probably.
>>
>>15366989
Yeah, but one day I went to MD check out a sweater someone recommended here and I saw some which the wool was sort of crap, unlike a piece that I own and the one he probably recommended. (It was a green sweater, probably one of you spanish guys)
>>
>>15366990
I like jackets that fit and are snug on me but not slim fit. Slim fit is just weird. It's really like a childs fit. Or like getting a regular jacket 2 sizes down. I'm a 44" chest and a regular jacket of that size fits just right on it. Now if I get a 44" slim fit, it's just like a 40" or even less and the arms are like thin tubes so the they're like tight gloves around my arms. Just awful. Probably the worse is under the arms how tight they are. I suppose a real "sim fit" jacket would tailor to your body shape but with more material around the arms but off the rack slim fit they just get a regular jacket and take it in all over so I think it only works if you're really skinny.
>>
>>15366997
I only checked the site fast, I thought they were like $500 each. It's Colombian? So they're about $100 US each? I wouldn't bank on it being high quality at that price but then again, maybe that price in Columbia is like $500 in the US
>>
>>15367011
>Probably the worse is under the arms how tight they are
One of the things that trigger me the most on jackets and shirts is them having a low armhole. The tighter they are, the better mobility you have, in my experience. It also just looks ugly. But yeah, RTW fits are awful in general, just join the bespoke gang.
>>15367025
I didn't even notice the price or the currency, I thought it was Euro. I didn't even know MD existed in Colombia or Latin America in general. These go for €100-200, and is pretty much the premium line of Zara, so that can give you a notion to its quality...
MD has good inspo when it is not overly slimshit, at least.

>>15366997
Definitely, with these clever Spanish retailers you have to see the clothes in person because often they look a lot different.

>>15367011
Yeah, even for me they are very tight under the arms, but they cover my shoulders and arms well (not super tightly).

>>15367025
They're about $135. So not, the quality is probably great and it really is kinda fast fashion at the end of the day (hit or miss, you have to be selective).

I buy that kind of stuff used for $10 or so. Thrift squad right here.

I like that kind of belt. It's very nice that no matter how much weight you lose it always fits. Same with d ring belts
>>
>>15367712
You need to cut them or you will have a flap looping all the way towards you back in the beltloops. Personally I find those leather ones too extravagant, and I consider myself pretty extravagant myself, with bright colors, pocket squares, patterned socks and the like, so there is that.

Best penny loafer brand in the 300-400USD range? I'm not looking for any higher than 400

Lads, I'm thinking about having a nylon tote bag made to order and I can't decide on a color. Dark olive seems like a favourite since it shouldn't show dirt that much. The material is decidedly not /tip/, sure, but it's made by mentally handicapped people, which is nice. What do you think?
>>
>>15368561
philantropism is pretty /tip/, but a nylon tote bag sounds horrible
>>
>>15368565
I'll ask whether they can make the bottom of the bag in a different color. The plain ones look like my grandma's shopping bags desu
>>
>>15368558
How are the pants or shirt baggy? They are quite fitted and the trousers are tapered to a neat 21cm leg opening. Linen trousers for summer are not supposed to be tight, that would defeat their purpose
>>
What’s the most expensive thing you ruined? I just fucked up my favourite tie. Kill me

>>
>>15367710
Yes.
That brown has some red in it and the distance between the belt and shoes is enough that the exact shade isn't so important. It will be fine.

I haven't ruined any piece of clothing to the point where I can't wear it but here's my short, sort of boring story. It was pretty chilly August day and I decided to go fishing to the closest river which wasn't too far off, it was only like a twenty minute walk. Anyway, I wore my Barbour quilted jacket, some cords and jumper, so a bit casual but perfect for the occasion. I got my fishing equipment and headed off but because I didn't have any box to put my hook and such I simply put them into my pocket, I would regret this later on. I was just walking through town with people greeting me and such, some children even asked where I was going and what I was fishing for. Everything seemed fine. After a nice walk through the countryside I finally got to the river, I put my rod together and had it underneath my arm with the back on the floor so it could stay up. With the line in my left hand I went to get my hook and I realised that the hook somehow got stuck in the pocket, once that realisation hit me I wanted to die. For the next 15 minutes I was trying to get the hook out of my fuxking pocket and thank God no one walked past because I was pretty pissed and swearing like a drunkard. In the end, my day was ruined and I got a small hole in my pocket. Feels bad man
>>
>>15368550
Quite honestly, compared to your last fit this is a bit of a disappointment, especially with the shirt.
>>
>>15368933
Thanks for the comment, could you elaborate? I really like the shirt, it is a wide stripe linen that has a great feel to it, the fit is short and boxy which gives it a vintage-y feel and the camp collar adds to that. I don't like the visible logo that much though.
>>
>>15369006
not him, but its very 'boy in the striped pajamas'
>>
>>15369006
Alright but I will just say that I do like the stripes and colours of the shirt, they're pleasing to the eye and obviously work very well with eachother, anyway, the reason why I don't like the shirt is for one, the short sleeves, short sleeves look good on polos but on button downs/dress shirts it just looks strange, it's one of those things which I just can't explain, it doesn't even necessarily mess up proportions of your body but it's still not necessarily advantageous.
Also, you could tuck the shirt but that's just my taste, I guess. I will say this about it, you did get the proportions right, unlike that guy who posted a couple of threads ago with the untucked shirt which made him look like a Neanderthal simply because his legs looked very short.
I don't think that the trousers really work well with the shirt, don't get me wrong, it doesn't look bad but the brownish grey trousers and the light blue creates a bit of an unsightly contrast, I think that if they were more of a sand colour that would look a lot better and it would work with the season.
So yeah, it's not bad, in fact, like I mentioned previously for your other fit, you'll probably get compliments instead of complaints but it's just not my style, it's a bit too casual for me.

>>15369143
It takes around a minute to read, I think that you'll be fine.
>>
>>15369060
Thanks for the detailed comment. I previously did not care much for short sleeved shirts but they have won me over, especially the boxier cuban collar shirts and hawaiian shirts which have a very nice 50's vibe to them. Regarding tucking the shirt, I don't think that's really possible with how short the hem of the shirt is – if the shirt were longer, I would tuck it, no question.
Hadn't thought about the colours but I see what you mean. The trousers are actually a sand-ish brown with a hint of olive. I have a pair of cream trousers I could try instead with the same shirt.

I find more formal summer dressing to be difficult; the problem imo is that I don't really like to wear jackets when it's hot, and shirt + trouser combos get stale fast. I find these more casual fits to be a bit more interesting, especially when mixing up with even more casual vintage inspired trousers like army fatigues, gurkhas etc. I'm awaiting a new brown linen blazer that will hopefully make dressing up a bit easier, though.

>>
>>15369304
I agree with him, though. Rancourt loafers are quite hideous, they have bad proportions, the upper is too far up the foot and the vamp is also too high on them. I don't like beefrolls, and their loafers which don't have them are horribly stitched and the leather patina in most of their shoes looks quite artificial. For the price, I would go with Meermin all day, although I don't know if they make loafers with the beefrolls.
>>
>>15369006
The collar is too small. Vintage camp collars are much more pointed and in proportion.

The fit of the shirt doesn't look at all boxy to me, it looks quite fitted and slim, making it look out of proportion with your trousers.

IMO it would look better tucked in, and short sleeves almost always look worse than rolled up long sleeves.

Another piece of personal critique is the watch. It looks too big. You have classic taste with your wardrobe, but that ben 10 size watch looks like something a 21 yo real estate agent in a cheap suit would wear

I actually like the white/cream socks though. I love that they're coming back in style (at least among the informed). ignore the brainlets.
