Tasteful bauhaus design done right
Don't like the logo on top though
>>
>>13982200
Yeah that's one of my two complaints about the watch. The other is that the rotor is quite loud. I'm absolutely loving it otherwise.
>>
>>13982210
Don't some brands actually make the rotor loud intentionally? As a way to make the user feel when it's moving.

Ever been to Switzerland? They're pretty autistic when it comes to watches.
Didn't wear my watch one hot and sunny day, my friends ordered me back to their house to put mine on. Also if you're wearing a shirt or any other clothing with long sleeves; do not at any circumstances wear your watch below the end of the sleeve. Patek Philippe rules the world and the French are the plebs of the earth and nothing good can ever come from there.
These were my experiences and cultural learnings in Switzerland.
My friends live in Geneva, perhaps it's different in other parts.

Yes we get it, you're rich and you're gaudy as fuck.

Respect goes to people like Bezos that, despite being the richest on earth still wear watches under 10 Gs.
>>
>>13982673
Pretty much sums it up, but at least the guy is trying his best to make these videos into actual content.
I find it funny that he dresses like a pimp lunatic most of the time.

About Bezos etc, I think you have to be rich and really well known to pull of the "humble rich guy" thing. When you are not world famous people will just think you are a regular Joe.

>>

What Milgauss is this? No lightening bolt second hand?
>>
Ok /wt/.

Tell me about Grand Seiko. From everything I've researched so far they seem to be very well made, and respected amongst watch enthusiasts. I would love it if someone could explain spring drive to me and why it is such a big deal. How do they stack up to rolex, Tudor, omega, etc?

I would really like to get a gmt, but I am unsure which at the moment.
>>
>>13983460
The strong point in GS is the finishing which is why boomers tell you to buy one if you want to impress yourself and buy a Rolex if you want to impress others.
Springdrive is a quartz regulated mechanical movement, the gimmick there is the perfectly smooth sweep of the second hand and that's pretty much it.
>>
>>13983460
>>13983570

Spring Drive is also very accurate compared to traditional mechanical movements, which (to me anyway) is part of the appeal.
>>
>>13983582
>quartz regulated
I think that is a given.
The thing with that is that many mechanical purists / swiss lever escapement facts will just see it as a quartz watch and therefore evil and corrupted.
>>
>>13983586
swiss lever escapement fags*
>>
>>13983586

To you and me, yeah. To people asking what the big deal about spring drive is perhaps not.. Just stating the obvious in case anon was unaware of the impactions quartz has.
>>
>>13983605
I am unaware of the pitfalls of quartz. What are the alternatives? Silicon?
>>
>>13983611

Quartz ia good. Downsides are that it typically requires a battery, but that isn't an issue with spring drive, and that the hands on quartz movements tick once per second. This is triggering to many people that want smooth sweeping hands, which is again something that is not an issue with spring drive.

Downsides to spring drive is that watches with spring drive movements start at 2 grand, and that's not even the Grand Seiko ones.

spring drive doesn't but seiko also invented a new mechanical/quartz hybrid movement that did in the early 00's

The mini-crooked river is great for edc because normies think it's just another "harmless " fudd knife and don't lose their shit if you use it in public. Selling my snowflake, speedy reduced and my 16233 two tone datejust. Might sell the vintage jdms I have as well so i can have some more $$$ for a house deposit. In going to have one half decent watch (not something already in the collection) and put the rest towards the house

The question is what do I get?

Their catalogue is somewhat confusing and their models are kinda all over the place. Also is servicing GS also as hard as they say? I also want smaller sized watches so 42mm diameter maximum.

I repair, but the store sells typical mallshit. Q&Q, Casio (unfortunately G-Shocks are a different supplier so we don't have them), Doxa, Maserati (shitter), Daniel Klein (MASSIVE shitter), and Citizen.

Citizen is the best brand we have, though the supplier only gives us common, uninteresting mallshit. Lots of Eco-Drives, radio-controller, titanium, but no automatics and no divers.

Help me /wt/. Name a good 80's watch that isn't a Rolex, slavshit, or a 7A-series Seiko.

Ironically commies managed to delay their quartz crisis through their planned economy, so they were still mostly making pretty good mechanicals in the 80's.

Interesting, that's about $4300 USD which is almost exactly what I paid for an excellent condition Explorer 1 in the US. It must be pretty rough living on kagraroo dollars, everything sounds expensive.

This face does look a little busy IRL, black might be better, and it needs a new bezel.
