>Toilet flushes flawlessly every time I piss. >Every time I shit even LITERAL diarrhea the toilet will NEVER flush. It is almost as if somehow it knows there is shit and will not flush opposed to pee. >I live in a townhouse so the plumbing is probably shared between the other 3 units in the building.>I can't imagine it is the plumbing because works fine when I piss or flush with nothing in the bowl but as soon as I shit even the smallest rabbit pebbles it will literally just fill up and not flush. Don't even get me started on massive poo snacks because those won't flush either. Anyway. One is some old most likely builder grade toilet on the second floor which I imagine would have to work better due to gravity and it has some ridiculous 4.5GPF rating. While I have a much smaller practically miniature American standard with an absolutely wimpy 1.2GPF on the main level. >Do I need new toilets? Is there something wrong with the plumbing? Literally rustles me so god arm hard to have to plunge the fucking toilet every time I shit because it will just not flush.
>>2583515check your roof vent
>>2583517What should I be looking for when I check it? srs.
>>2583518clog
>>2583518Clogs from leaves, pine needles, etc. Just run a toilet snake straight down it and see if there are any hangups
>>25835154.5 gallons per flush? are you shitting in the bathtub or something?
>>2583550It is from probably from 20 years ago before they got super kiked over muh to much water flush per shit.
>>2583522Gotcha. Snake the roof vent if I understand correctly?
>>2583515Test by pouring a five gallon bucket atop your next dump. If it flushes, there's your answer.
>>2583579Seriously been thinking about looking for some type of "upgrade" regarding toilet flushing technology because I feel like the toilet is the problem compared to the plumbing because flushing piss or just flushing with nothing in it works fine everytime. Whenever I shit though it will literal never flush. >Not even trolling as stupid as it sounds. Not even using a ton of TP for it to clog either.
>>2583515What type of toilet is it? modern low water usage or older 3-5 gallon toilet? does it have a Jet hole in the front very bottom of the bowl?
>>2583603One is older as mentioned as well as bigger in general which is on the second floor. Smaller more modern low water use toilet on main floor. I don't think either have jet hole just regular opening in the bottom of the bowl. Newer one is American standard while older one is most likely original builder grade toilet since there are no manufacture markings.
>>2583604>4.5GPF ratingyou have an older toilet like pic related probably.I had the same problem. you can take a very long cheap screw driver or an old metal close hanger and bend it so that it will go in side the hole 3 to 4 inches. move it around and scrape out any scale build up. you can also dump some sodium bisulfate mixed with water down the refill tube and more in the bowl itself (let sit for several hours) it should bubble. scrub the rim feed holes with a brass brush.
>>2583606sodium bisulfate can be obtained from a pool supply place as a powder.
>>2583604>I don't think either have jet holeif it does not have a jet hole then try cleaning the rim holes.if that does not work replace it.I had exactly the same problem you reported.turds flush finepiss finetoilet paper finehershey squirts nope.our toilet was like a moody teenager it worked when it felt like it.we were going to replace it but moved to a new house with more modern toilets.
>>2583550he has a pre 80's shitter
>>2583606Saved. I'm not OP.
>>2583616there used to be products called Vanish or Saniflush their active ingredient was Sodium bisulfate (an acid) mixed with bicarbonate of soda, green dye, wintergreen scent and a surfactant. You dumped a half a cup in the shitter, it turned green and foamed up, then you swished it around and let it sit for 15 minutes to an hour, then scrubbed you filthy bowl you heathen!these products worked really well and did double duty one was cleaning the bowl and the other was dissolve lime buildup. As you can guess they are now banned and modern toilet cleaners are worthless.
Do both toilets do this? I can’t imagine any plumbing issue that would cause this so I want to say get a new toilet but if you say it’s both of them that would be odd
>>2583574Based shitter
>>2583606isn't this going to fuck the porcelain in the bowl? >>2583616>they are now bannedI don't think they are. Companies voluntarily stopped making them. It's hard to find out why - I see a generic "environmental impact", but the only article with specifics is wrong. It sounds more like some type of legal liability DESU. Or possibly because it was an ingredient in cooking meth or something.
>>2583574>toilets from 40+ years ago were amazing until joos ruined them by reducing GPFironic that you'd post this when OP is posting about his 40+ year old 4.5 GPF toilet that won't flush poop whatsoeverall three toilets in my house are 1.6 GPF Kohler's and not only have they never clogged after three years, I don't even have to scrub them because the poop streaks rinse off when it flushes
>>2583517fpbpOP check to make sure your roof vent isn't blocked>>2583579>>2583603>>2583606OP clearly says that both the older toilet and the newer toilet have flushing issues, so it has to be an actual plumbing issue
>>2583517>>2583762Hell, check to see if it exists. The guy who put in the (replacement) PVC drains in the 100 year old chicken coop I rent didn't bother venting any driains because "That's not how I learned plumbing in the Philippines."symptom was it would flush... slowly... any liquid. Solids would either clog it or come back up.Cure was putting an air admittance valve under the sink, between the trap and the wall. Fixed the flush and made the sink stop gurgling and stinking as well.
>>2583576Yes
Found these two images while trying to find a relevant image. Always wondered where/how they come up for those weird wikihow pictures. I guess they just find a picture online and copy it lol.
>>2583769
>>2583756>I don't think they are.they were banned in 2009 (in the US) don't know about anywhere else. you can still get it (maybe something like it) from a janitorial supply place but they want a lot of money for it.current "vanish" is not the same thing.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanish_(toilet_cleaner)"With the withdrawal of sodium bisulfate toilet bowl crystals from the marketplace circa-2009, the Sani-Flush name and US trademark were abandoned; the Vanish brand remains in use, but only to identify other toilet cleaners (with differing formats and chemistry) from the same manufacturer.">isn't this going to fuck the porcelain in the bowl?no, used it for many years and never harmed the bowl.>>2583758>that won't flush poop whatsoeverbecause the stuff that kept them working was banned.> I don't even have to scrub them becausesaniflush and vanish were meant to clean badly stained bowls from people who did not clean the toilet often enough (my mother).
>>2583622Damn. I was going to look for it next time I went to the hardware store but then I got to the banned part.
>>2583768Will get the HOA to come out and do this.
>>2583758Kohler is based. Had them in every bathroom if I am not mistaken at both of my parents houses but now I am on my own. Living in a lower class area having to fix a bunch of botched "upgrades" fucking hate poor people.
>>2583762What type of plumbing issue do you reckon it could be?
>>2583740It is based when it is a ridiculous poo because I know my poor shittier will struggle and not even be able to flush it. It is not based when it is a more average shit and I have to plunge it everyday.
>>2583714Yup both do intermittently probably more times than not. It will occasionally flush shits even ones I am surprised it flushed. Then seemingly for weeks at a time it will not flush shit but when it is empty or just piss works fine. >What is weird is sometimes the bowl will fill up but not drain like it is clogged or it will swill and drain but without enough momentum to actually flush properly and will not drain if that makes sense. If I was to replace them is there any suggestions I should look for I would most likely be interested in the jet thing another anon mentioned or a more "high-tech" toilet compared to just a standard one.
