why does soldering fumes always come to my face?no matter what angle i try
>>2549778embrace it nigga
If you solder all the time get a filter. Dont touch your mouth after holding lead solder wire. But I agree, always in my nose.
get a fan.
>>2549778you probably suck it in with those gorilla nostrils.if i soldered more i'd get a fume extractor but for the half a dozen times per year it seems pointless.
>>2549778I can't figure it out either, I have a fan sucking the smoke and a fan blowing from behind me but it still goes straight in the face every single time
>>2549778>>2549789is it normal that my nose get black tar shit.
>>2549778get a fume extractor
>>2549868kek

If you do a lot of soldering, stop by your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore and see if they have any cheap range hoods.
>>2549959Holy crap. An actual explanation.
Use a better solder. I use less active flux because Im not trying to solder rusty pipes together and a cheap flux can for the toughest jobs lasts forever.
>>2549959Fucking hands!
>>2549868NOOOOOOOOOOFREE HIM
I got a half mask for it.Now amazon keeps trying to sell me surgical masks.
>>2552452become
>>2549868Saved.
>>2549778>open window>it's always an incoming draft not exitingyou can't win. I just blow on it. I am thinking of getting a cheap box fan and putting a carbon filter in front of it and I figure I can also use it to smoke indoors since I'm still a rentcuck
>>2554428A small fan that is placed physically close to the soldering area will do it. Picrel is a commercial one but you can use like a 4-6 inch desk fan or a larger computer fan.
>>2554437that looks great, maybe I'll make one out of a 120mm computer fan. Built-in ashtray, maybe?
>>2554441>Built-in ashtrayGreat idea.
>>2554444digits will it for sure
>>2554444here's my mockuptwo metal round ashtrays. the top one has the bottom cut out and a PC fan is mounted behind it, and then a carbon filter goes over the hole. This way it's kind of like a funnel but it's a little wacky and rustic or whateverthe bottom one is left as is, since it's metal it's a safe place to rest your soldering iron assuming you're a poorfag without a soldering station and it's of course a literal ashtraythere's plenty of different ways to mount them together, even just thick wire would work and you'd be able to adjust the angle of it. Maybe the bottom part would need to be weighted to stand up and not have it all fall down. bonus points if the way they attach together is actually a hinge so you can close it clamshell style
>>2554460I like it. Creative use of wire.Do you use lead-free solder? If not there may be a potential safety issue here lol.
>>2549778Because they disperse in all directions retard. Invest in a vent system before you become more retarded.
>>2554485shit I hadn't thought of that, I guess I'll have to keep using a stolen ceramic tile to keep my hot iron on then
>>2554520>stolen ceramic tile to keep my hot iron onAre you me?>>2554491Look at this guy who has literally never soldered lmao
>>2549789i used to think i want to learn how to solder and then i found out all y'all nigga's using lead.. u know that shit's bad for u right? What the fuck are you doing breathing in lead? kinda retarded if u ask me
>>2554523>Are you me?maybe, are you an alcoholic?
>>2553612sabed that rare pepe thanks fren
>>2554536>i used to think i want to learn how to solder and then i found out all y'all nigga's using lead.. u know that shit's bad for u right? What the fuck are you doing breathing in lead? kinda retarded if u ask meThe fumes are just fluxIf your soldering iron is capable of vapourising lead on contract, the lead poisoning is the least of your problems
I guess the rising hot air cause a disturbance that pulls more air in
>>2549835nah you're retarded, a 120mm pc fan is more than enough to blow away flux fumes>>2549778because your lungs breathing are an air pump and are the only thing pushing air around in the general vicinity, you cant see it but all of the air around you is being pulled towards your mouth and nose, all the time.
>>2549778Get a delta or foxconn 80mm fan or a cheap 120mm fan and a cheap carbon filter, done.
how else do you expect to get good at electrical engineering
Are there really people out there doing enough soldering projects that they worry about this kind of shit? I'd say I use my soldering iron about 6 times a year.If I was building in bulk, I'd just get the PCBs surface mounted in china for pennies. Let them deal with the fumes.
>>2549778breathe OUT while soldering.>>2555364>Are there really people out there doing enough soldering projects that they worry about this kind of shit?yes you fucking small minded idiot.
>>2555365What the fuck are you making constantly?
>>2555367electronics.
have a small fan blow air at your face
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exRgzJaB3D4
Don't hold the iron in your mouth.
>>2549991those dont do shit. you need to exhaust it outside the room
>>2549778Make a simple fume extractor from a shop vac and a cutoff section of antifreeze jug or similar. I did works great and you can run the exhaust hose out a window (or through a HEPA filter if trapped indoors).
