>lucky if they even move without capsizing
checked and confirmed

i mentioned weight in the previous edition and how he might be making it a bit top heavy centre of gravity wise adding all that ballast up near the deck, that it may be "lively" on the waves.

Doug has possibly already confirmed that describing the steering as really "responsive". worth keeping in mind he is currently in the calmest water the boat is ever likely to encounter; apart from the rain of coarse.

things may be only just about to get exciting.

i don't know if he's aware how much force those sails are going to put on things when the wind catches them.

>>
>>
>>2371871
When the tender runs into Seeker you can see her visibly roll side to side. Remember she's twin keeled. If one of those was grounded then she wouldn't rock like that. So what part is grounded? Her steg and rudder.

Because of her trim and design whenever she scraps bottom the first thing to hit will be her steg followed by the rudder. If that steg hits anything hard best case is a hole and losing coolant. Worse case is the steg bends and binds the rudder causing a loss of steerage and/or puts the prop shroud into the prop.

If she was sitting on her lines this wouldn't be such an issue. It also wouldn't be an issue if she was drafted by an actual naval engineer as this is a known problem and why all stegs and rudders have been made well short of the keel's depth since forever.
>>
>>2371915

>>
>>2371933
>harbor
Pretty sure he's sitting next to a marina and a park. You know for normal boats, not meme sailing boats.
>>
>>2371933
Idk if the harbor had poorly designed and built large vessels with an unknown waterline in mind when it was dredged.
>>
>>2371942
I think it's literally a turn around for a little marina. His dumbass is just parked in the middle of it.
>>
>>2371942
>poorly designed
Maybe just poorly maintained. Regular dredging is absolutely necessary.
>>
>>2371933
It's not really. It has a 9' controlling depth with 12' at the docks. While there might be an 8' shallow in there the real question is what's Seeker actually drawing. She was drafted for a 5.5' draft, painted for a 6'+ draft and with that trim could very well be dragging the rudder another foot and a half under the keels.

According to the drawings her rudder should be sticking out of the water by a foot. As she sits we can't even see the top of the rudder in the water. Doug needs to do more trimming.

>>
>>2372165
The keels are full of lead so Doug is using the skeg to cool the engine and tranny.
>>
>>2372171
The ones we used were dead simple. its a maybe 3ft square plate with many 2" flat bars welded so the water serpentines through the whole thing, then that is welded to the hull- or the 'swim' in narrowboat parlance.
They're awkward as fuck to seal properly due to the confined welding position & pressure test.
I wouldn't think a skeg has enough surface area to heat exchange properly now I think about it.

Leaving Antigua for Florida

Doug talks about him throwing up for longer than needed

Doug does a nasal flush for some reason???

C-Monkey tells Doug to man the fuck up about his sea sickness.

Some guy has to monkeybar onto Seeker because there is no good way to actually board the ship

C-Monkey asks a cruise ship to move out of the way of Osprey

Doug says they need to test the roll stability on Seeker (lol)

Some genuinely neat shots of lightning (18:49)

Doug scrapes off varnish directly into the drink

Doug finds a capsized boat and then shits on Haiti

Osprey gets lifted out of the water at what can only be described as a boat graveyard.

Doug uses the word "unbirth"

>>
People are saying he welded a tractor seat to the top of the mast as a "crows nest"

I'm the biggest Dougn't, but I actually think this is mounted on a sleeve so that it will slide up and down the mast like a little elevator. Better than hoisting yourself up there in a harness, I guess.

What do you think? Is it welded directly to the mast? Or is it on a sleeve?
>>
>>2392326
The mast is tapered.
>>
>>2392326
>crows nest

>>
>>2392336
yeah but you cant see if what i think is the "sleeve" has a gap at the bottom.

Hoisting Ballast "Beetus" Betsy up there, aside from being a herculean feat, would upset the point of gravity of the vessel too much. Any rolling beyond 1 degree would cause the mast to slam the slampig into the sea at such a high speed that the impact would render all the fat off of her cadaver. This event would become to be known as the BB oil spill.

Seeker will never sail. Doug has no clue how to sail. You will notice how there are hardly any places on deck to tie seeker to a dock. Notice there is no hardware for the running rigging except for some clutches and a single winch in the pilot house. Seeker can barely move under engine power, and will never move under sail.

Imagine a sailboat with no where on deck to fasten or stow lines.
