If they would have radiused them starting at the door's open position, the door could have swung with the pipes staying in place
>>
>>2159098
They could have attached the switch with screws through the wrong holes into the box, lopped the plate off at the trim and it would have looked only half retarded

I'm in cheap cabinetry and have to do retarded shit to quell the homeowner all the time

Most boomers I know simply don't have the ability to think past the next step ahead. They can't imagine a bigger picture. It's all that leaded gasoline in the air from back when they were babies, fucked up their brains for life. They simply can't consider tripping on stupid stuff, their emotions demand they do the first thing they get excited about and that's the end of the thought process. That's why this shit happens.

Now this is ALMOST cool. If the stones were flushed with the concrete and filled in with some kind of resin that didn't feel horrible to walk on it would look super cool.

a system to conduct heat through the bucket from the flue would be cool. That much steel would stay warm for a long time and radiate lots of heat.

It would also be very very bad and dangerous for small children, pets, grandma...

You only say that because that metal bucket is in your face screaming for attention.
Holding heat is all about mass, if you use thick concrete walls you would have way more mass without that eyesore.

But in the spirit of the thread, here's the bathroom the new owners added. My grandfather offered for 40 years to build a bathroom in this exact spot and my great grandmother refused every time. The new owners hired Mexicans to jack leg it.

Yes. When my great grandmother died nobody wanted to put the time into keeping the place from falling apart except my mother and I. Eventually we couldn't keep up with it because we lived 10 hours away and we had financial issues of our own. I begged them but they wouldn't sell out to us because we didn't have the money and the ended up selling it for 75k to someone who ended up turning it into an airbnb, which is what my mother had planned to do with it if the family had gone in on the repairs. Now the house is valued at goddamn 200k.

These things used to be common.
Where these things come from, is that before running water and dedicated bath room was a thing, you had a bowl with water in your room to wash your face. Also another bowl with water under your bed to shit in, apparently.
I have also seen few more fancy places that had sink in one of the day rooms, so you could for example make tea, or wash your hands and tools after painting.

The green circle is pots for 2 ferns that died.
The brass block in the yellow circle is a mounting point for a glass door that became redundant after a new glass door was installed a meter behind it.
The floor of room 4 is below room 5 and 2 and had flooding problems, that is why the lip in the blue circle was made.
The orange circle is where the old door and wall was.
The red circle goes into room 5 that is 1 step below room 3 and 2.

Buy "new" house. It's a shithole bit so is anything else affordable in my area. Refuse to have a 30 year mortgage. Wish to invest heavily into financial education, investments, and early retirement. Decide on small old shit farmhouse and 7 acres for the next 20 years or so.

Wife wants bathroom remodeling. Wife then triggered because the sink is gone. Wife wants some obscure sized dresser turned into a sink because FUCKING PINTREST COMMUNIST COCKSUCKERS IS THE TRENDY THING TO DO...

Triggered because no hot water despite having a hose on the hot water heater and a garden hose.

Fucking fine here...

Not used one time.

My deck has diagonal steps in an awkward location. I have slipped on them more then once because I was unable to see the edges of the steps. I have since painted the edges a different color so they are better visible and haven't slipped since. Parallel lines like that can really mess with your ability to perceive differences in elevation, even with parallax.

This floor appears to be in some kind of public building or apartment so it probably sees a lot of traffic from people who aren't familiar with this staircase. They are begging for someone to fall and sue them.

The ironic bit is that many Russian apartments have a small cupboard underneath the kitchen window for use as a pantry. Because the wall is thinner and uninsulated, this area gets pretty cold, giving it the name "Khrushchev's refrigerator." So the oven is installed in the space meant for the "refrigerator."

I have a water bottle (or part of it) hanging from my shower head; The shower head drips water straight down after it's turned off, and the water was causing mold to grow on the shower caddy beneath it. Just added a section of water bottle (cut and carved more than this to remain aesthetically pleasing) so that the water instead flows through the bottle and down, passing over the caddy entirely.

DESU though this image looks like it just werks, so I don't see the issue. If it's in a spare bathroom and you don't give a shit then why worry?

I used to work in EMS and you'd be amazed by the number of calls we got that were old people who either needed help getting to the bathroom or had fallen on the way there. I bet this is an old person's house where a relative or someone moved their old TV-watchin' chair to their oversized bathroom so they wouldn't have to go as far. Would also explain some of the other odd things in the image, like the decor, the rug (which was probably put there to act as a cushion, or traction for a walker) and the fact that no one bothered to redecorate before listing the house for sale. The person who lived here is probably either dead or in assisted living.
