>>2047639If a retard kills himself, is that eugenics?
>>2056380Thanks for the clarification. That's what threw me off; there's no way that single chamber had the volume to hold incoming sewage or drain off the leachate. >>2056584oh gawd, that's going to kill someone.don't know where that is, but local code here says type-B venting and then use cement mortar at the collar into the chimney.tape is a HUGE no-no since the tape is combustible. >>2056578(screaming plumber noises) CPVC glued to ABS glued to more CPVC glued to modern PVC, all incorrectly pitched down from the main, going into Galvanized that looks like it's rusting out. That's a small nightmare.
>>2056575I get the other ones, but what specifically is wrong with this picture? It looks level and it should drain correctly. Is the problem that the cross pipe should be higher? Or is it the fact that there's an outlet when something like a garbage disposal would be hardwired?

>>2056838May I ask how you came upon this place? was it just a basic service call that opened pandora's box from there?
>>2056612I labeled the picture. And this is code violations for MN, not that it won't physically work, just what is considered "wrong"1: not a long sweep 90, need a long sweep when going from vertical to horizontal (Bonus- the slip joint on the outlet side of the 90 is the wrong way so it's prone to leaking)2: need a long sweep 90 for horizontal to horizontal direction changes (the part itself is never meant for a horizontal application)3: No center outlet wastes allowed, only direct waste4: S-trap is not allowed for the reason >>2056687 said.5: since this was redone, kitchen waste lines need to be 2" after the trap arm6: dishwasher hose needs to be in a high loop (drawn in grey) so dirty water isnt pushed back into your clean dishes
>>2056862Home Inspector caught a small gas leak on the main 1" line right inside the house on the old black iron pipe. Then also required a pressure test for the fireplace gas line as well as strapping since they ran 20' of 5/8 soft with literally no support. Just let that baby sag till it finds it's resting spot I suppose.
>>2056645It's never that easy, especially on a water heater that never has been serviced. >>2046489I remember as a kid, just walking into a barn, and seeing my dad and like 6 of his friends, and a whole line of steers (well, not quite yet steers) going into the barn, and they were just one by one castrating them, and just tossing the nuts into a pile by the wall. I remember just looking at this big (it was like 3 feet deep by that point) pile of cow nuts, and then just looking over to some other guy who was sipping a beer as he worked the lever on the headlock. And he just...shrugged to me. like, "Eh, what'ya going to do?" I dunno, weird memory, sometimes i just think about that.
>>2047639Kentucky is a real shithole. But that house is adoorable.
>>2056310Please take a picture.

>>2046567>>>2046567I'm a little disappointed they didn't run electricity oot to that shed.

>>2065738>lasts centuriesMine got pinhole leaks in it all over barely 10 years after we had all the iron pipe replaced
>>2073772Galvanic. Was it bonded to some iron somewhere?
>>2074205Nope, dielectric union at the inlet through the foundation and copper literally the rest of the way through the house. Replaced it with pex and am 100x happier
Just did this today, if it werks it works
>>2055765Boomers trying to retire have already pumped so much money into bonds the interest rate on a loan is like 3%.When they draw that money out all he'll breaks loose with business and general lending. Dread the boomer retirement
Watch this guy almost kill himself trying to flip a metal tablehttps://youtu.be/7ghvw3F2uWA?t=630
>>2075327Jesus Christ, how can you be able to build a welding table without having an engine hoist sitting around?
>>2075327I expected that table to throw him over with it. What a fucking idiot. Dude should watch some Essential Craftsman. Or invest in some old rail road timbers.
Shit froze and shit burst. Had to do the soldering again. Never done that before and i only had a shitty electro soldering iron. Looked like crap but smoothed it out with a gas burner. It doesnt leak anymore so good enough i guess
>>2075327He did fine, that's exactly how I'd do it.
>>2062450You're correct on that assumption. https://www.fondriest.com/news/not-drop-drink-plastic-pipes-leaching-chemicals-drinking-water.htmhttps://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2014/Q4/drinking-water-odors,-chemicals-above-health-standards-caused-by-green-building-plumbing.htmlI had more links to actual research papers but they went dead a year or so ago. I wonder why.
>>2066380brick house shills be like "but muh house, must breathe"
Not sure if this counts as true gore but I had half my house go dark last week. Thought it was the breaker but that as fine. Ended up tracing from the suspected outlet (no current but live ground) through 4 junctions to this little nest of a problem. Put some new blue wing nuts on it and seems to be fine now.
>>2077478>not sure if this counts as true gore
>>2060939kek is that a tupperware junction box?
>>2077478>>2078390I regret not taking some pictures of the junctions under the floor that this leads to. Was fun picking all the melted electrical tape off there though.
>>2078622>>2077478>first and second generation NM in metallic boxes. That looks like my whole house. I love the 18 gauge ground wire.
Gotta cut the grass somehow
>>2078638Shit, my house had first gen mc wire. No ground wire, and 18 gauge hot and neutrals, using braided insulation that probably started disintegrating like 50 years ago. The whole house was wired with it at one point, i'm down to like maybe 2 circuits running it.
One day the roof started to collapse and this “handyman Steve’s” solution. We all thought we were gonna die.
>>2046567Ofc that it's from Reddit
>>2058714This must be a staged photo. If not, I've lost all hope in the current generation.

>>2066380I'd be wearing two hard hats if I was anywhere near that building
>>2060679Plugs and sockets are a crutch. In a just world everything would go to screw terminals.
>>2078638>>2078657Yeah my entire house is still like this. I also have no clue what's on what circuit because this shit was wired back in the 70s and never touched again. The real fun stuff that I don't have a picture of sadly was from the downstairs apartment. We were renovating the master bedroom, which had a drop ceiling. So we tore that out and discovered the old knob and tube wiring still up there. Also, for some reason they spliced into it so that it was all just live.
>>2047639This made me laugh for half an hour straight, my eyes are red already from laughing so much. God bless human ingenuity.
>>2078617Worse, I'm pretty sure those are resealable tubs that prepacked "deli" lunch meat gets sold in.
>>2078675If it only took him a few minutes to slap that together and keep shit from collapsing versus going out and trying to find floor jacks then I'd say it was a good call

>>2075327I was almost killed in a similar fashion. We were lifting an engine liner (about 500kg) with some lashing straps. The straps slipped and the liner fell towards me. I was lucky enough to step aside, shit only bruised me but i was in a state of shock for about an hour or so.Semi worst case it couldve instantly killed me worst case it couldve crippled me for life. >>2079486If the store doesn't lock a tool up it's not worth much.
>>2079480Pretty much all tool brands these days are junk in one way or another.
>>2079480I'm all for banter about tool brands, but honestly I've had some ryobi stuff for a while and it's decent.Shame about the colour though.
>>2079475Starting to think I'm immortal with how many stupid things havent killed me and should have.Just cruising down all my possible timelines until theres one left, then I'm going to slip and brain myself getting the mailm
>>2079475>>2079580I was biking across a freeway one day, I had biked across it hundreds of times. Nothing but an 18 wheeler in the distance. I hauled ass, wearing bright reflective yellow and white, giving myself plenty of room to spare, he was WAY off in the distance. That was the night I learned there is such a thing as truckers high on meth, driving big rigs 120mph. He never saw me and I cleared him by such a small margin that the wind wave from the trailer just about threw me sideways onto the ground. It missed me by no more than 3-4 feet.Had to just stand there for like an hour.
>>2079672Makita - junk. I mean, it could have been worse, but it is not what they did 30 years ago.
>>2055912Car stuff is the best example: save 500 by doing your own window tinting. Save 400 each time doing your own breaks.

Two girls laughing their asses off. Probably didnt even notice me
>>2079336>Plan BSomething about that makes it so much funnier
>>2047191i have a similar issue i think. old as fuck house banging when water runs suddenly stops and now there's a quiet dripping sound. how much does this end up costing if i pay a random guy to do it? the hot water has a funny taste coming from the specific tap too and nowhere else.
>>2079480>he thinks harry homeowner should spend more
>>2079493Or you don't love in an area with niggers
>>2075327Is there any good reason not to assemble the table in a way that didn't require it to be flipped, or is he just an idiot?
>>2080846Honestly you probably shouldn't build that kind of table if you don't at least have some come alongs or a hoist.
>>2078657>>2078727At one point, all my lights and receptacles were on one of three circuits. There was a 15 amp circuit servicing the kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, and two bedrooms. Helpfully, the panel labeled it: basement outlets.
>>2078647What am I looking at here?
>>2071611Goddamn. I've gone to friends' houses for beer so we can work on a boat engine or something, but your dad and his buddies made an afternoon of slicing the balls off of cattle. Fucking brutal.

>>2054563In what state?
>>2051316That reminds me my my great uncle, what a mad man he put switches on fucking everything, he had radio and he put four switches on extesion cord in his garage and always pluged it out, so when he wanted to turn it on he put it in to socket, fliped all switches and thant turned it on. He also terrorized my great cousin with his first car.>be my great cousin>get driving loicens>dad tells you, he will give you car>get shitbox older than you>at least something>want to park>hit reverse>out of nowhere christmas songs start to play on full volumeHe wired those christmas song postcard to car, so whenever he put it in reverse it played those damn songs
>>2078622Remove and destroy all those wires and do it all over again. This time do not use exposed earth wiring
>>2055943Oh shit is that what that stuff is called? When I was a little kid there was a bunch of that shit on the playground and we used to eat it because it tasted like apples.
>>2082745based on the internals of most of their stuff its pretty shit, especially compared to what they used to make even just 10 years ago. now if im being honest, it is better then most other brands on the market right now at a similar price point, but if you have the ability to get something older that has been at least somewhat taken care of go with that instead of anything new out of the box.
