>We want the audience to know that sarah lynn wanted to be an architect, but pressure from her family got in the way of that dream and now she's unfulfilled.
>how do we convey this to the audience?
>OH I KNOW
>Sarah Lynn: I want to be an architect.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here, OP. You think people in real life don't state their goals to their friends or something?

Wasn't there a couple times she gushed about how a building is structured? I remember she did about the planetarium but I thought she had another scene where it was clear she thought building constructs were cool.
>>
>>139517025
I mean, her last thought before death was what she had actually wanted to be.
If you were dying, while upset about how you missed out on life, while drugged up you're not going to say fucking Shakesphere.
She tried to have a last thought that would have been nice, to comfort her, but it was too marred by the harshness of reality.
The show has flaws, but that's the most pedantic thing to complain about. It's like, you don't even have a point to make, you just want to complain about the show so picked some random moment and decided to nitpick it, poorly, as an excuse to make a thread to shit on the show.

Hollywoo is a bad place with bad people. Also Todd episodes.

Also you can't have a point if you just make things up as you go along and change the plot because Harvey Weinstein liked the show.

>>139518624
Also a good summary. Basically the writers don't want Bojack to change because that would involve changing the show's dynamic.
>>
>>139517025
The weirdest thing about the show is that golden retrievers and labradors have an ethnostate in canada

You can't expect /co/ to actually watch the show that they're shitting on

But the character's interaction and structure of operation changed drastically depending on the current actions of Bojack. The only thing that didn't change was that everything was an extension of Bojack, who refused to change, but the world around him changed constantly and how these changes clashed with Bojack's refusal to grow.
It's like saying a show is bad because you can boil it down to it's base essentials.
>Spongebob: An adult frycook acts like a manchild and gets into sea-fairing shenagains with his dim starfish Friend
>Scooby-Doo: A group of stoners solve mysteries with their talking dog every episode and it's always a guy in a mask
>Simpsons: Surreal parody of the real world seen through the lens of a pastiche of a 90s sitcom family always always defaulting to the status quo by the end of the episode
>Billy and Mandy: Two annoying kids terrorize the grim reaper who is contractually forced to hang out with them
>Beavis and Butthead: Two mentally-disabled highschool kids complain about being in school and then talk over music videos
You can make anything sound shitty by streamlining it's nuance.

Thank you! For comparison, I could tell the world I want to be a pilot as much as I want, but that doesn't mean shit if I don't put in any work towards it. It just becomes just pure lip service to try to make me sound more interesting than I actually am.

However I feel about this show saying it was always pretentious misery porn feels disingenous.

You completely missed my point to continue dunking on a show you already don't like for weak reasons, congrats.

>But the character's interaction and structure of operation changed drastically depending on the current actions of Bojack.
Not really. Todd, Princess Caroline, and Mr Peanutbutter do their own thing regardless of what Bojack is doing.

>The only thing that didn't change was that everything was an extension of Bojack
And that Bojack keeps making the same mistakes so he'll remain in much the same place every season.

>but the world around him changed constantly and how these changes clashed with Bojack's refusal to grow.
Not really. In most seasons these changes have little impact on Bojack or what he's trying to do.

The rest of the shows you listed are episodic shows that don't have an overarching story, unlike Bojack. So their characters will always remain in the same place they started. However Bojack is meant to be about the world changing but the writers keep trying to prevent anything from changing.

>You can make anything sound shitty by streamlining it's nuance.
That might be true, but it might be harder than you realize, given that every example you listed made each show sound fun to watch.
>>
>>139518932
The problem is 3.5/5 of those are shows for kids younger than 14. Bojack tried to set out and say something and said not too much. I think it both is and isn't Sad Show But A Horse Says It. I think it has things to say about the cycle of abuse if you were raised shittily, how bad Hollywood is, and other things. I just think it's also a show that wouldn't have seen as much longevity if it was just humans because normies went UWU when seeing it.

the problem with that is that fans get on social media and start making demands. if the fans are dumb, and the media itself is based on profit, the fans will ruin something so much you won't like it any more, or destroy it so badly that the experience of something ending or petering off has been robbed from you so that something you got enjoyment out of ended up being a small source of trauma. which is societies can be manipulated in to culture wars

You're part of the problem. If you only stopped consuming Amerislop and looked into thread discussing Euro/indie comics you'll find only good threads.

It’s so stupid. Of course Harvey Fucking Weinstein liked the show. It’s all a bunch of insider Hollywoo culture with most of the characters being actors, agents, directors or producers.
