Honestly, it looks like this volume will be pretty boring in general. They mostly wasted 5 episodes or half of the volume in nothing. Wouldn't be surprised if another 2 or 3 are mostly wasted. As they said earlier, the volume's plot relies a lot on Ruby's interactions with two characters that mostly will just appear till the 2nd half of this volume. This was such a terrible decision. WBY will end up having more screentime than two of the characters that are actually relevant and getting important scenes to V9's plot, and this is much the same mistake that they have done in almost all previous volumes.

I have a basic theory that's not fleshed out to to thought through, so feel free to poke all the hole in it for me. This is just off the cuff while I'm on the can. Jaune appears to have aged quite a lot in such a short time. I don't believe he has died and ascended, but rather time can work differently in different parts of the land in The Ever After. Steming from this, Penny ascended as became Alyx.
