>S1good>S2good>S3shit>S4FUCKING garbage>S5FUCKING garbage>S6FUCKING garbageWhat went wrong?
Correct. The showrunners are bums.
women writers
It was never funny and boosted by social media.
>>136100977Season 2 went to shit halfway through.
S6 finale was good
>>136100977Even normies got sick of the women and soibois who now write this shit.Season 6 had atrocious ratings. Way lower than all other seasons. There are almost zero writers from Seasons 1 and 2 still working on the show.
seasons 1 and 2 are so fucking FIREthe rest is so fucking bad that im convinced dan harmon is a selective schizophrenic or something
>>136100977Didn't they switch to primarily women writers starting at Season 3 and onwards? Also the show got high on it's own meta edgy commentary and started mocking it's fanbase.
what a brave opinion to express on this board anon
>>136101272ty bro
>>136100977Sounds like you just hate the show. Stop watching then.
>>136100977Women writers
>>136101300>Stop watching thenDon't worry, we have.
>>136101019>>136101138>>136101243 >>136101417 >muh women Anons don’t know how to read apparently. Dan Harmon’s the one at fault. His vision for Rick and Morty became more jaded and pretentious to the point where the show started becoming almost unrecognizable. Now you have new writers (of any gender) trying to mimic A MIMICRY of Rick and Morty. I doubt Harmon even makes them use those first two seasons as a blueprint anymore.
>>136101428isn’t streaming to blame for that? not as many people pay for cable anymore
I just look at the Morty x summer incest porn.
>>136101019It's not the women writers its the Harmon getting to choose his own team of yes sayers to tell him how great he is for getting lucky and squeezing the last creativity from a pedophile and releasing a decent product during a drought
S6 was good, cope and seethe.
How are they even going to reach 10 seasons when ratings have fallen so low and now they don't even have Roiland for the funny voices?
>>136101690Season 6 was a mixed bag. First half was good (minus the Die Hard B-plot), but the rest was meh. Either I'm bored with the president now, or an entire episode making "Star Wars jokes" just didn't cut it for me.
>>136101770>no more funnyman go REEEEEEEEEthe only direction they can go is up
>>136101770Even if ratings have fallen and fans are losing interest, Rick and Morty is still Warner's most profitable animated IP. This shit ain't goin' anywhere.
>>136100977Nothing was ever able to top the bushworld adventure episode after it aired
>>136100977I love Jerry's shirt design, it's so simply yet so easily iconic
>>136101068As an episode, it was good. As a finale, it felt pretty uneventful. I get that they were just setting up for Season 7, but still.
>>136101841I think you are delusional. and possibly a fucking retard like >>136101805. Roiland's voice was the literal defining characteristic of the show.Roiland was far more important to the show's identity than Early was to Squidbillies, and Squidbillies instantly died as soon as Early's voice actor got the boot.R&M will die even harder than Squidbillies did once they run out of Roiland pre-recorded material.
>>136102070Roiland was the only reason anyone was tuning into those garbage seasons. Without him the show is going straight into the cancellation bin lmao.
>>136100977The best parts of the show was the normal family having to deal with whatever weird scifi shit Rick brought into their lives and seeing their reactions. By season 3 the Family was just as used to all the weird scifi shit as Morty and reacted just like him or rick when it happened. So you did not get the normal people having to deal with weird shit aspects like you did in the first two seasons. Now everyone goes on adventures all the time. Beth has a space clone girlfriend, Jerry hangs out with Cenobites all the time, Summer steals Rick's car and Morty uses the portal gun by himself. Everything was normalized so a huge part of the original comedy is not there any more.
>>136102049Roiland's absence will be easy to hear, but that isn't enough to kill the show, especially when the rest of the crew is still good up to Season 10. If anything, all this awkwardness and controversy will breathe new life into the show and get fans curious again BECAUSE Roiland's line delivery played such a huge part.
>>136102135Also Rick transformed from bumbling loser scientist that goes around stealing shit and being an asshole to Godmode infallible super genius that can do no wrong and cannot be challenged or defeated by anyone ever. The man changed from just stealing any technology he wanted since he can portal anywhere to inventing everything himself because he is now the smartest man who has ever existed.
>>136102137exactlyfucking retarded children on here who bitch about how their show has been primarily made of shit episodes and then fucking recoil in defense b/c they want to continue watching a show they fucking hatefuck you people, i can't stand any of you, fucking leap off a building you stupid cunts
>>136102135The family's casual use of sci-fi isn't the problem. It's that they're all assholes, and not in a funny way. The only times they work is when they're all facing some crazy threat together (Night Family, Mortyplicity). When they're paired off in A-plots and B-plots, that's when the show gets unbearable again.
>>136102137One of the most insane copes I've ever seen. lmao
>>136102227Tell me the first piece of footage with Rick and Morty's new voices won't be the highest trending thing when the time comes. People are gonna be cringing or celebrating or arguing for days.
>>136101019Not really since we now know why certain woman where handpicked for shit ass degenerate reasons that had nothing to do with their writing capability
>>136102258people making fun of the trainwreck does not mean people will actually WATCH it. they'll laugh at clips of it on twitter while the actual show's ratings fall off a cliff (even harder than they did during S6).Remember Morbius? No, not all publicity is good publicity lmao. Tweets will go viral while everyone cringes at the new voices and then the show will get quietly canceled later that year
>>136100977Agree, R&M was never great It just had potential, It started to plummet when they changed that narrative from struggle and overcome to god-like nilihism
>>136102135This.
>>136101881Yeah, adult swim should just do Bushworld Adventures and kick out the current team. Voice and writer problems solved.
>>136102451not really. i think i would still take even current r&m over unfunny trash like that or smiling friends
>>136102302>people making fun of the trainwreck does not mean people will actually WATCH it. Did you forget about Velma already? It’s quiet now, but that shit’s gonna be spammed all over again come Season 2. Same for Rick and Morty. Hatewatching works.
>>136102484Is there anything else you can do in this thread except seethe?
>>136102508Velma was an interesting situation. It's hard to know if it was truly hate watchers giving it views or genuine fans. There is a LOT of porn of that bitch... for some reason. That's why I have a hard time believing it was all hate watchers.
>>136102546>There is a LOT of porn of that bitch Wrong character to be drawing porn of desu
>>136101501Okay but that one She-Hulk writer making her self insert therapist character that somehow has more insight than the smartest person in the universe was ass
>>136102727wait that was her? AHAHAHAHAHAthat character stuck out like a sore fucking thumb
>>136102727>somehow has more insight than the smartest person in the universe Nah, she just had enough insight to be able to wade through Rick's bullshit deflections and read him like a book. All therapy scenes in TV shows do that. Rick is a genius, but he's got too much of an ego to try actively fixing himself for a change (at least until Season 6). It was cathartic, but also funny to then see Rick and Beth continue to shrug it off while the kids continue to suffer.
Comparing the quality of an old episode and a new episode really shows how was Roiland was the key all along to the show's writing in seasons 1-3.
>>136102854She was a stupid cunt and should have been killed.Dan Harmon only let it happen to avoid being cancelled.
>>136102384The show isn't nihilistic. The entire point that the last few seasons have been trying to get across is that despite your existence being no more than a spec in the grand scheme of the multiverse, there's still room to value things like family even if that family isn't your original one. Shit like Evil Morty, the citadel, and the Cronenberg dimension also show that despite Rick's claims that nothing he does really matters, they in fact do and he will always be haunted by the sins of his past.
>>136100977ukinojoe's schizo parody is unironically better
>>136102869Not just Roiland. The whole vibe was off once Rick and Morty's fame got to Harmon's head and he deviated from keeping the show smart AND silly to making it overly snarky and meta. The early writers who understood the show's original vision have all left, so now we're dealing with new writers who have to abide by Harmon's new vision for the characterization and types of jokes to tell.
grass tastes bad
>>136102906Also, the Filthy Bogan version of Rick and Morty is the best one. What a bloody legend.
>>136100977nothing. it was always mid, and people just liked it because it was something new. the new seasons aren't worse, they're more of the same, and that's the problem.
>>136103864>the new seasons aren't worse, they're more of the same 4 was somewhat of a return to form after 3 experimented with a season-long arc, but 5 and 6 have been VERY hit-or-miss. That's a far cry from the near perfection of those first two seasons. Quit lying to yourself.
>>136102869Ridley was a bigger loss, imo
>>136100977Season 4 was so goddamn boring. Only episodes I remember are story train and the vat.
>good>somewhat disappointing>very disappointing>bizarre hack writer metanarrative shit>bizarre hack writer metanarrative shit that was occasionally alright
>>136100977After season 3 most of the original writers fuck off to do they're own shit, even Justine Rolian only really voiced the characters after a point. Dan was the only stagiler and he hired a bunch of new writers.
>>136104024Dan Harmon must be the worst person to work for lol
>>136101216R&M was always shit zoomie
>>136104067There's a reason he gets fired from his shows (Community, Sarah Silverman Program)
>>136104005Give it a rewatch. S4 was pretty fun overall.
>>136101138The season 1 and 2 writers got cancelled.I remember wondering how we'd make it years between seasons because they were so good. Now they're fucking cuck garbage, out every year. Written by an AI programmed using Reddit posts as its base.
>>136104232yeah I rewatched the show recently and a lot of the jokes from S1 and 2 would instantly get the writers canceled nowadaysSimpsons had 9 great seasons. R&M lasted for 2. Shame.
>fans like the "wrong" character>write them out of character so they stop liking themmany such cases
>>136100977Season 3 is only shit? I personally thought it was even worse than 4.
>>136104473If it wasn't for Morty's Mind Blowers I would rank S3 as bad or worse than 4.Morty's Mind Blowers was much better than anything in 4 which is the only reason I rate S3 "higher"
>>136101216gayest opinion of the thread>so FIRE
>>136105601https://youtu.be/QTJKZil3OaA
>>136105601>>136104104this is literally two faggots seething because someone exists thats younger than themhumans are so worthless its hilarious
>>136100977It’s amazing how each season got worse and worse. You think there’d be one season worst of all that stands out but nope it’s just “the most recent one”
>>136100977The first season is mostly episodic episodes with some bits of continuity to reward you for watching. The world-building with the multi-universe shit just felt like it was another sci-fi concept they were exploring and poking fun out of-- it never felt like some grand picture. First season is just a perfect self-contained little show filled with a very specific style of humor and takes sci-fi concepts in a funny direction.I think the second season is where the dip happens. They forced an Interdimensional Cable sequel when the first was just lightning in a bottle. "Fans LOVED that episode, LETS DO IT AGAIN!!!!". That episode should've been scrapped and "Total Rickall' should've just taken its place for, "Episode with joke ideas we wanted to use". Episodes like "Get Schwifty" also felt like they were trying to force memes and running jokes rather than just letting them happen because they were good jokes. Jokes like, "Hm, human music!" are a good example of something that can become quotable by fans, but isn't hammered by the writers because they WANT fans to make it quotable moment. This show should've stayed hyper episodic. Morty should not have character growth where he becomes as cynical as Rick. American Dad is still funny over a decade later because they know people like the characters AS THEY ARE. They didn't try to make Francine an intelligent woman because she was sick of being seen as a bimbo. We liked MORTY because he was a panicking mess and Rick kept throwing him into danger. We laughed at Morty going, "OOUUUGGGGHHHOARGGH". Having him, Beth AND Summer be Rick 2.0's is lame; it's the reason why people are starting to like Jerry more.
>>136107248>Having him, Beth AND Summer be Rick 2.0's is lameit's what ultimately killed the show for me.they have morty, summer and beth all being clones of Rick who handle all manner of fucked up alien situations and regularly murder armies of monsters with ease. it's not funny anymore it's just the new writers basically telling the fans SEE, GIRLS CAN DO IT TOO!one of the few, very few enjoyable moments from S6 were all jerry.Jerry when he starts glowing green and immediately asks Rick what's happening and tells him not to say he doesn't know because rick is also glowing green. i loved that shitand even fucking apocalypse Jerry is STILL jerry. he's still the same normal ass human dad who is also a weak coward.Compare that to space beth who is literally just a rick clone except a fucking dyke
>>136102854Thanks for posting with a file that shows you're just defending with your dick.
>>136100977The show was never good. Crutches too much on gore and memes to be good.I just went back to rewatch Futurama after S2.
