Let's be real. Simpsons is set in Oregon.
>>
>>133128433
but Springfield has a desert
>>
why does a large chunk of the south not have any cartoons set in it?
>>
>>133128394
What the fuck is sniz and fondue?
>>
>>133128433
Nah, Oregon is real weird now that there's no laws there for possession of drugs anymore.
>>
>>133128394
To be fair, Hey Arnold is set is an odd mixup of Seattle and New York. We don't really have that same local neighborhood vibe in Seattle. honestly just fuck that city in general. It's awful and it has too many 1 way streets.

Assy McGee has 20 episodes, Jumanji has 40. What’s the criteria for “longest running”? They’re both in New Hampshire
>>
>>133129030
Not counting stuff like Fairly Odder, RS actually does beat it, and by a fairly wide margin at that, according to wikipedia - 261 vs 172.

>Sit down Shut Up

Man! Not even cartoons want to live in Florida
>>
Why would you do individual episodes instead of seasons or years on the air?
>>
>>133128456
The cartoon industry is in California and New York, and if they don't make it based on where they are from (California/New York) they generally just make the city into a AnyTown USA.
>>
>Kansas is one of the best cartoons ever

The fictional setting is named Hillwood Washington, and is an amalgam of Seattle Portland, Brooklyn, and Chicago
>>
>>133128521
They mention the Arkansas Achievement Test (or something like that) in one episode. In another episode though, Spinelli gives the coordinates of their city, which end up being near Pittsburgh, PA. So who knows.
>>
>>133129751
Nah, they mention Arizona in a few episodes.
>>

If you’ve ever lived in Kansas, you’d understand why.

SU isn't set in Delaware. It's that fake gay state Delmarva that they want to make.

Bob's burgers has been on air for longer than aqua teen and is set in new jersey?
>>
>>133131342

Too backwater to produce animators, too offensive historically, and a lot of animators probably have little experience with it beyond Tom Sawyer or other second hand accounts and folktales.
>>
>>133128456
Culturally, everyone thinks that6 most of the South is literally just this image and nothing else, so they don't think to make any shows set there.

Aqua Teen takes place in Seattle, New Jersey and also space.
I love them but their setting was as flimsy as the rest of the premise.

I don't know where the idea that HA took place in Seattle came from. Nothing about the show says Seattle and EVERYTHING about it says Brooklyn, or maybe (MAYBE) Philly. The diversity (and the specific character of the diversity), the architecture, the culture, the weather, the bits of history that we get; nothing about it says PNW, not even urban PNW.

I think in the paris movie during the phone call scene at the beginning, it shows the satellite beams the call from paris into california. there's a clip of it on youtube but the quality is too shit to make it out exactly where it's sent.

The Houston Oilers is the team Stu is cheering for, while Drew was cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. They eventually became the Tennessee Titans (who will even actually use the old Oilers uniforms for "throwback" games, when teams use their older classic uniforms)

I was always mystified by that episode, because they used the names of real teams.

This.
More specifically, the only sort of people that tend to make it into the animation industry form the South are "intellectuals" that HATE their Southern origins and try their damnedest to pretend they aren't from there or that they're enlightened and left it behind them when they moved to the coasts. The creatives that love being Southerners tend to get pushed into the music industry instead of the animation industry.

Can confirm this one. I had a friend that went woke in college and I remember him going on a schizo rant once about how southern culture isn't real because it's all just white supremacy and Dukes of Hazard is Confederate propaganda and shit like that. I don't think he's ever left Oregon.
>>
>>133131608
>>133129461
The only good culture in the South is Black.
>>
>>133135879
Nah
>t. Black Southerner
See, for all the shit the South gets for its racism, it's also the most intermixed place for the black and white populations. A lot of coastfags talk a big inclusion game but probably know two black people and are just aquantainces with one of them.
Black and white people in the South are elbow to elbow a lot more often. We're very used to one another, and our cultures intermix a lot more outside of urban centers than you'd expect.

Is it really even obvious to Americans what major cities are in different states if you cut out easily identified landmarks from pictures? It's not like any of them have thousands of years of architectural heritage like Europe, they're all burgerscrapers. Is all that matters of what state you choose to live in the climate, tax rate, and if you can get a job?
>>
>>133134775
Stu could've just been an Oilers fan without actually being from Texas.

I live in between Boston and Providence RI, and while I’m not saying you can’t cut out a small piece from either and use them interchangeably, I do think they feel a lot different to be in. For one thing, I know when I’m walking around Providence because of the number of steep hills. And Boston is noticeably bigger and differently developed, with stuff like the subway and all those big tunnels. I used to go up north and hang out in Salem MA, too, and that’s obviously its own thing in the tourist areas because of all the witch shit. I visited a friend out in Denver a few times too, and you really feel and see the difference when you’re not on the coast and you’re surrounded by mountains.
>>
what are the tiny ones that cartoons like craig of the creek, SU, bobs burgs, the birdhome and so one are sit in? Also i dont recall them ever mentioning a setting in SU, just 'random beach town', unless image creator is basing this off of some random throwaway about a location they connected to something in the show, which is exactly the kinda autism i expect from em

Steven Universe clearly states a few times that it takes place in the state of Delmarva, which the creator has explained is a fictional amalgam of Delaware and Maryland.

I got way more New York vibes from HA, and I have seen almost every other post about the subject suggest that it reminds them of New York to some degree. Even though Boston is also in the northeast, it seems like a weird choice because New York is right there and all around works better and comes to mind easier.
>>
>>133135939
Seconded. I remember a lot of redneck kids and hoodrat kids hanging out with each other back in high school the moment they realized that they essentially liked the same shit: partying, guns, listening to loud music, not trusting the cops, big cars, and girls with thin waists and big butts.

Both the continents and history in general is different in SU, so they don't have the same states as we do. IIRC, Steven mentions that there's only 30something states in their version of Earth.

so a portion of africa is connected to south america, ausland is mialformed, and japan is connected to mainland china? does russia have a crater in it for the same reason, or was it attacked?
>>
>>133140092
Even in the art books, they leave it ambiguous as to why there's a giant crater in the middle of Russia. But since those dots are suppose to be former gem sites, I imagine it was Pink Diamond's original landing point or something.
