How would you fix Batgirls?
>>133117960put tim and damien in their costumes and call it bat"girls"
Get a writer who actually will write Steph and Cass in characterGet a better artistMore serious toneFocus on Steph and Cass' friendship (don't make them lesbians not every same sex friendship needs to became a gay couple)Remove Babs
>>133117960>Batgirls>All of them are over 18Stop being Tim Drake and grow up.
>>133117960Barbara is back to being Oracle. She will retain the ability to walk independently instead of becoming a cripple again. Barbara's role in the book would be dramatically reduced. She would be neither the main protagonist nor a supporting character. Instead Barbara would have guest appearances where she would occasionally provide intel or support.Steph either remains as Batgirl, go back to being Spoiler, or a completely new identity. Cass either remain as Batgirl, go back to being Black Bat, or a completely new identity. Steph and Cass will acquire supernatural abilities and become the supernatural part of the Bat family. Majority of the stuff they deal with would involve the supernatural. And they would deal occasionally normal crime.
>>133117960Remove Babs, stop trying to make it a teen comedy, and add strong villains, Steph and Cass have to struggle and evolve from.
honestly I don't really know how you fix any of the bats. They're all so flanderized and codependent at this point that it's hard to craft a decent narrative around any of them
>>133117960get good writers and artists
>>133118470Bruce - the originalDick - the protegeJason - the anti-heroTim - the gay Damian - the prodigal son Barbara - the cripple and supportSteph - the happy oneCass - the silent one Kate - the lesbian Duke - the token blackJace - the token privilege black
>>133117960The comic? You can't.The concept? Erase Babs & Steph completely. Have Cassandra be the only Batgirl to ever exist & an active partner/daughter to Batman.
>>133118574>Jace - the token privilege blackPoor Luke.
>>133118574David - the best one ever because he successfully bailed.
>>133117960Kill off Cass and Steph.Focus on Babs
>>133119174>Title is BatgirlS>Plural>Wants a single focus on a singular character>Basically a character runAnon.....at least put some effort.
>>133117960Get rid of the narration boxes, put Tamaki on the book, break the fingers of anyone who says Dick Greyson needs to appear in any capacity.
>>133117960Make them both black and having sex with me.
>>133118470They just need writers and editors with a creative vision.
>>133117960Do we need another batgirls thread? We just had one.Anyways like another anon said, if we have to keep the writers something that'd make the book much better is to entirely remove the narration boxes. Balance the girls a bit better at the very least. In terms of writers working at DC tamaki has proven that she can write both a good cass and a good steph.
>>133120124She leaned a bit hard on Chandler's law in tec, but I love a crazy guy with a bazooka that isn't the Joker.
>>133120322True, but i am more so talking about individual characterization, and with steph especially it feels the closest to her earlier characterizations.
>>133119174>Babscripple the bitch

>>133120997Damm. I hadnt actually kept count.Do the "just images" one count? >>133120800It is funny how things work out.Likewise heels!
>>133117960Unironically just stop doing anything with Batgirl in it, or most of the bat-family unless they're strictly on their own. Bring her back in like 10 years when the readers and writers have brewed up some actually good stories to tell.
>>133118040This.He said everything I wantAlso thowàà in a male support character. Like Alfred.
>>133121045Giving them more solo stuff could work, as is they do tend to just become a duo, or just a unit.
>>133121010You need to buy some commisions, dronebro. Just to spice things up.
>Girls>Girls>GirlsThey need to step aside and let a REAL woman show them how it's done. Someone to whip them into shape and make something out of them.
>>133121123I think a major problem with the book is that they're writing the trio as an inseparable team rather than three individual heroes. They're hamstringing themselves by not allowing the girls to function as individual characters, and its messing with characterization because no one has a supporting cast except for the other two.
>>133121244I do think Cass being isolated (or at least her only connections being people that life the same type of life) does work, but Barbara, and especially Steph dont really. At least not if you're going for this type of book. But yeah true.
>>133118267>Barbara is back to being Oracle. She will retain the ability to walk independently instead of becoming a cripple again. Barbara's role in the book would be dramatically reduced. She would be neither the main protagonist nor a supporting character. Instead Barbara would have guest appearances where she would occasionally provide intel or support. So, that's what their are doing in the book right now. It doesn't work.
>>133121318>So, that's what their are doing in the book right nowNot really? Babs had a whole sideplot dealing with some inexplicable angst over hacking into the GCPD database, getting some Dick immediately afterwards, and even Alysia made a sitcomish guest appearance. Meanwhile, Steph's getting a love interest, and Cass whiffed a punch against Killer Moth.
>>133121123Nothing wrong with the girls sticking close together. Though it could be fun to see them working seperate cases, and then switch when they need to play to the others strengths. Just imagine being a goon having fun tussling with a perky blonde, expecting her to show up and attempt to foil you again when the lights go out, and suddenly you're upsidedown with a bruised pancreas.
>>133121263That works fine for a solo, but as part of a multi character book it gives her the short end of the stick in terms of character interactions, and in turn screentime. Bare minimum I'd bring back Brenda from her solo to give Cass someone to talk to that isn't Babs or Steph.
>>133121207Last time Kate told girl to get into shape, she was never seen again.
>>133121446That is true, but it does mean that you loose a lot of individual characterization for each of them.>>133121498True, i do suppose you could build a new one for Cass as well, or explore one of her lesser dynamics like Onyx or Azrael that are unique to her.
>>133121318Barbara is basically the main protagonist while Cass and Steph are portrayed as her sidekicks that incapable of doing any investigating without her.
>>133121532Reminder that not only has Kate been raped by a supervillain, her first major action as a hero ended with her tied to an altar with a knife in her chest.>>133121556I just like the idea that Cass sometimes likes to try her hand at playing normal and wants a confidante or two that is completely disconnected from her superheroics. I'm surprised more writers don't touch on the similarities she has with Onyx and Azrael, but that require writers actually remember Onyx exists.
>>133121573Quite the contrary. They are engaged in active, if misguided, investigation while Babs keeps hemming and hawing over moral quandries she has no business having.
>>133121639Didnt Onyx show up recently in the catwoman book? But yeah, tho i do feel someone like brenda overlaps a lot with steph. In fact i wouldnt be suprised if her role in gabyrch's run is to act as a surrogate steph.
>>133121674Did Steph get Joker venomed?
>>133121684I know, but I think it'd be funny for Cass to have a friend that isn't Babs or Steph but who is suspiciously similar to Babs and Steph. And even if she was a surrogate one could simply give her some unique traits to move her away from that.
10 page sex scene at the end of every book
>>133121798It'd be funny for Cass to introduce brenda to steph and babs and they all just stare at each other realizing that cass basically just grabbed someone that was a meld of them.
>>133121532I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since her last mainline appearance. I remember being over the moon when I saw her in that Detective Comics issue.
>>133121843>after a few awkward seconds Cass throws a smoke bomb and runs away
>>133121866>Mainline appearanceUnless you count her brief cameo in death metal, yeah it's been that long since Betty had her appearance. Just waiting on her appearance in Batgirls.
>>133121918>LegsHNNG! Please say West Point has a tennis team.
>>133121699Worse. She's horny.
>>133121918Assuming the book lasts long enough...
>>133121866 Bette needs her gumption back, damnit!
>>133121866Holy fuck, i hate kate cain so much. The writers think she was in the military but wasnt she dishonorably discharged? and literally everything she was taught was by her two spec ops friends, and she goes around acting like shes a sergeant and can tell other people they haven't had enough training. Holy fuck does this cunt even have one fan?
>>133118040Agree, aside from the removal of Babs. Have her around mentoring them and every once in awhile focus on Steph and Cass' seperate relationships with her.
>>133117960Assuming it gets relaunched and not just outright cancelled down the road, it may sort itself out. Babs’ solo basically alternated between being good and bad every run, and the good usually happened as a result of looking at the immediate previous run and going “yikes, let’s course correct.” So if Batgirls the kiddie book isn’t working, DC *probably* won’t hesitate to roll the ball in a different direction.
>>133117960The problem is trying to have a team with Babs, Steph, and Cass together. They want Babs to be almost Oracle, but also the best Batgirl too. She stays home when she wants, and she get involved whenever something big is happening because the other two aren't the best. So, you either have to split up Babs from Steph and Cass, or make each the best at something. Allowing them to each have a purpose. Cass being best at fighting is obvious, but Steph being better than Babs at something is less obvious, but possible. The simplest idea would be take Babs and give her a solo comic or put her in a team. Then give Steph and Cass their own comic where Cass can be the quiet muscle and Steph the goofy brains.
>>133123240Cheesecake book pls
>>133117960>How would you fix Batgirls?Cripple Cass and make her the new Oracle
>>133126158That makes zero sense whatsoever
>>133123294Steph being the best undercover investigator makes sense. No one knows who she is and she has good people skills so she is the one they send in for undercover work. This also will give the dynamic of Steph being the POV character who will need to be saved by badass Steph and Goddess Oracle. If you have ever read the manga fairy tail, Steph should be the Lucy Heartfilia to Cass being Natsu and Babs as Erza.
>>133126477>who will need to be saved by badass StephI meant she'll need to be saved by Steph. Babs should be Oracle and the voice in the ear who plans everything and sees the big picture. Yes she can go out and act as bat girl sometimes, but they should make it a special occasion.
>>133126438Think about it rationally. She's expressly designed as a wounded vulnerable hapa waifu you can imagine nurturing and healing with your dick. Crippling her doubles down on that, forcing her to rely on (You) physically as well as emotionally.
>>133126438It makes perfect senseA girl who barely knows how to read and speak is now in charge of coordinating and communicating with the entire community of heroes. Thats a huge character development for Cass
>>133121874Nah Cass gets that their awkard but not why, so she just thinks that they need some bonding time.
>>133117960fanservice, more steph/cass/babs booba and ass
Basically get Kate retired already. she's been pointless since Babs came back in new 52.If Babs has to be in a suit, let her be Batwoman. If that can't happen, keep babs as Oracle. If you need Babsgirl content, keep it in NightwingIf you absolutely must have Babsgirl content in the book, I'd frame it like flashbacks where Babs' past cases and adventures are framed against Steph and cass now, showing the benefits Babs has from hindsight or how the girls working as a team benefit from Babs working solo.
>>133127154>Basically get Kate retired already. They can't. She's the token lesbian.
>>133127154>If Babs has to be in a suit, let her be Batwoman.I’d rather them keep Babs as Batgirl and let Bette take a crack at the mantle, especially since it’s been hinted in the past that Bette would probably be Kate’s successor.
>>133117960Any character that needs a title made popular by another character is not a good character
>>133127909Yeah they should really stop having Babs ride off the Batgirl name since Cass was the one who sold the most/
>>133127995heck yeah Cass bro!
>>133127687Guy looks way to cool to be black mask? Who is this?
>>133127154I mean, if there's multiple batgirls they could easily just have kate and barbara be both batwomen (red and blue even). And it'd be a nice segmentation.Flashbacks would be a clever way to integrate it.>>133127933To be specific Cass had the least proncounced sales decrease and the healthiest sales trought. Babs started strong with number 1s but suffered after a while. And steph didnt sell much at all (probably since superficially she looked both too similar to babs costume wise to stand out, but not similar enough where they could be confused i guess), doing only better in trades.
>>133128200>And steph didnt sell much at allWhich sucks because it was great in spite of that. Now if only Batgirls took more after Steph's book.
>>133128200>probably since superficially she looked both too similar to babs costume wise to stand out, but not similar enough where they could be confused i guess),I think its more due to a lack of marketing, too many batbooks at the time competing for readers, and Steph being too distant from the on-going bat storylines at the timeCass really benefited from being launched off a huge batcrossover, that really sold her, and then continuing to feature in books that showed her as an active batmember. If you were reading batcomics of the time you'd know there was a new Batgirl. Steph had a few guest appearances in other books, but nowhere near the same level, and was sort of tertiary to the the other books. If Steph had a bigger role in Battle for the Cowl and had her taking the mantle there, it probably would've gave her a better launch. Plus War Games had been a popular trade, and that and all her appearances for like a year after Dixon was fired just had her as an untrustworthy fuckup . So all in all the people who weren't that familiar with her were just wondering why she got to be Batgirl.
>>133128424>If Steph had a bigger role in Battle for the Cowl and had her taking the mantle there
It's going to be awhile before I get more high heel action, isn't it? :(
>>133129000yup, apparently heels are sexist
>>133128052Director Bones, I believe.
>>133128052>way to cool to be black mask
>>133128414Steph's book managed to be ligther in tone while still fitting well, and it was a great fit for that era of the brand in general.>>133128424I think half of it is marketing (it was the thing from the reborn era that got the least attention desu). And as you said, her being abscent from bigger bat stuff.
>>133129762Now those are some nice heels.
>>133129581>>133129472Kind of a waste of a story. But damn. Babs was hot.
>>133117960Batgirls issues all stem from the fact that the writers are garbage if you don't address that then regardless of what's changed it'd still be garbage. Aside from that >singular villain for the 1st arc>serious tone (or at least decide who the audience is then write a story with the appropriate tone)>reduce babs role>give each Batgirl an actual life outside of the costume (or just steph and have the lack of one be a plot point for cass)>get an artist who can actually draw attractive women >build a relationship or even just a recap page instead of relying on half remembered memberberries - that are impossible anyway given the current setting>cut the 'bestest friends evah' and have them act age appropriate - like actual 18 year old - their pre-flashpoint interactions are right there.
>>133117960The problem with Batgirls comic is that it has already been utter shit for 12 issues or whatever, so even if you fix it perfectly everybody would need to tell people to start reading from number 13 or something. I hate shit like that. If a comic starts out bad, I'd rather cancel it and bury it than try to fix it. Things should be great from day 1 or they shouldn't exist. In any case the issues with it are broadly as such:>everybody's out of character compared to how I remember them being in 2001 (only era that matters)>all the characters act like retards>all-female team book where none of the characters are drawn hot>tone is glib and jokey without actually being funny for one second>action is very bad>cass in particular is ultra disappointing
>>133130502>Babs was hot.thicc hips and lips
>>133130600>>cass in particular is ultra disappointingShe's gone from being a terminator to being Steph's autistic sidekick.
>>133130600To be fair comics do have very constant relaunches now a days.>>133130583I do like corona's art but probably a smart direction.
>>133130699good artist too
>>133130699>Fans are 30yr old coomers>Comic tries to pander to girls despite writers being wildly out of touchI just don't get it.
TOCA I humbly request that you post your farmgirl Cass pics
>>133131865Some out of touch CEO looked at a spreadsheet, saw an empty slot labeled "comic for kids" and typed "Batgirl" in it.Or maybe it's me who's out of touch. I don't really care either way.
>>133131865This book basically exists to give Cass and Steph a streamlined characterization and give adaptations a launchpad in the future to reference. Its specifically meant to his a reset button on both of them so their fans aren't just waifufags. Its basically modeled after Burnside, which was just 16 issues or so but almost had a movie design based off it, has toys you can buy at retail based off it, is getting the suit adapted into a game, etc. In a way, this book doesn't need to succeed, just be a glorified cliffnotes for these two.
>>133132086Here's the first one, got a bunch of more one.>>133132173Cass very much has a streamlined characerization already, and idk both definitely have fans that arent just waifu people. And nothing with steph's in this book is particularly notable (also desu burnside stuff only affected like her characterization in that HQ show, outside of that they just use the design).
>>133132173But they're all out of character and shit.
>>133132315Anon, what I'm trying to say is, this is meant to be how they're gonna be like from now on,with occasional deviation if other writers like Tamaki care enough. This or the Tynion Detective run.
nobody will remember this book after it's cancelled and they'll revert back to their actual personalities in any future appearances.
>>133132173>Its specifically meant to his a reset button on both of them so their fans aren't just waifufagsAh yes, the classic maneuver "throw away the pre-existing guaranteed fanbase in the uncertain hope of maybe getting a new one in its stead". Seen that many times and maybe it'll one day work!
>>133132448They can 'mean' it all they want, it will never stick even if they continue it for a hundred years. Not when the undisputed best stories for all of these characters have them acting completely differently.
>>133132448Sincerly doubt the characterization will stick, and there's no new designs unlike burnside (which was a solid starter style costume) so.
>>133132678I think Steph's is going to stick, probably with Bat ears added. Cass has like a 5% change from her classic costume so it doesn't really matter.
>>133132745Doesn't matter, the writers will forget about them
>>133132745Maybe in the comics, but even then steph's current costume is A) not created in the batgirls book and B) just her new 52 Spoiler costume with a purple bat (and the new 52 spoiler costume is just a recolor of her batgirl cotstume with a bad looking mask).Adding bat ears on steph's would make it good, that and the full covered face.
>>133132476>>133132509>>133132473>>133132678Look I'd love to believe it to but if these characters ever get adapted as Batgirl in the future, certain things like Steph being more ditzy and funny instead of being layered with anger issues, or Cass being awkward and quiet with zany, quirky tastes like purple unicorns.
>>133132889Eh would depend on what kind of media. I see the steph one, sadly. I do think it'd very much depend on what kind of tone that adaptation is going for.
>>133132889Cass has had basic bitch tastes since her solo.>>133132918>Steph can't believe this shit, but knows she probably should have seen it coming>>133132982I think the opposite is also likely, it's such an easy dichotomy for the bubbly, perky one to have hidden anger issues.
>>133133129I think it'd depend on which others are adapted, since anger issues something that other members can be more known for.Cass likes shitty D-list movies and reality shows. That's canon.
Better question: How do we stop the same 3 schizo and namefags from making psuedo generals about 3 shitty characters every other day.

>>133134836Thinking about it, Steph should completely hate Cain and to an extent Shiva. Cain basically abused kids in trying to program them as assassins and Shiva abandoning any ties to Cass.Cass at least has mixed feelings of affection towards Cain even if she knows its wrong and he robbed her childhood from her. But Steph would consider him the lowest of the low. She was ready to kill The Penguin over using child couriers, so programming them to kill would be horrible to her.
>>133135141>go up against a villain that triggers steph's I hate criminals rage>she goes over the edge and tries to kill him>cass has to bring her back and stop herthere a kino arc for batgirls

I refuse to be mocked by a woman who got a gushie to a terrorist.
So how I'd "fix" (make it more in line with my tastes, let's not kid ourselves) Batgirls is by upping the stakes a little bit and make the tone darker. Right now it's just teen girl wish fulfillment.a bunch of very confident BFFs being together fighting crime and getting into fun shenanigans. Servicable, but we're all not teen girls so it needs fixingI'd give them more doubts, all three of them are confident that they're making the right choices and when they do have doubts they're dispelled very quickly. I'd make Barbara more exasperated by Cass and Steph's antics. They're not taking this seriously, they're not respecting her authority, they're going to die and it will be her fault because she didn't get them under controlCass would have some issues to work out. The overall tone is still a fun teen girl wishfulfilment series, so Cass is the moodier edgy kid. She can relax, and she does enjoy goofing off with Steph, but she still has had a traumatic past and saw someone she connected with get put down as a "super villain"Steph has more issues to work out than Cass, but keep them hidden. Through the series Steph would be the fun goofball lightening the mood when Cass gets down, but the twist is that Steph is the one that's not dealing well with her past. Like >>133134836 suggests, Steph hates these people. Absolutely despises them. She's kept it hidden, but she's crossing the "Vengeance, not Justice" line that Batman constantly straddles.Next would be choices of villains, so far the villains of Batgirls have been goofs. Comically offbase social commentary that is obviously wrong so the Batgirls can crack wise about "Erm, people actually believe this stuff?" I'd put them against villains that challenge them emotionally rather than physically. People who know Cass as Cain's little super killer project or the heir of Lady Shiva. Criminals doing twisted stuff to set off Steph's rage. Barbara would take the role of the stable pillar who's seen all this stuff before.
>>133135936And Babs is inexplicably quiet on the comms.
>>133136003>villains that challenge them emotionally
>>133135299Its honest. From the heart.>>133135803Right, that happened.>>133135936>Had black hair. Flown, with leather. I have a type. And i dont beat like that.>Barbara can back me up on this one!>>133136003That's a good angle.
>>133118040how do You filter or make sure the writer understand about Cass and Steph?
>>133136003If you pay attention to these threads, most everyone wishes the book would play things more serious while keeping a thread of lightheartedness/humor.Also, we've had some fairly productive discussions about rogues that fit Babs and Cass, but we've never really addressed who'd fit Steph. Any thoughts on Steph villains?
>>133136247I guess ask them what they know about each one?>>133136265Maybe another riddler knock off? Not cluemaster but someone that also hits that same beat.
>>133136265Scarecrow is a good villain for Steph. He's her first major win as Batgirl.
>>133136285>Not cluemaster but someone that also hits that same beat. There is her once-stalker, Baffler. Not that his riddles are much good.
>>133136285She's already got her dad and Baffler. It's a solidly booked niche for her.>>133136295While I do love me some Scarecrow in general, I don't see what'd give him a hook with Steph beyond that of any other existing villain.I know she appeared in Steph's solo as kind of a filler villain, but I think Roxy Rocket has potential. I imagine that Steph gets rather irritated at thrillseeking villains and takes a specific delight in busting them. The pages just posted makes me think that Steph should have a deep antipathy for messanic or savior-type villains, seeing them as deeply exploitative and manipulative, which heavily stems from her childhood both as someone who spent years holding out hope for someone to save her and her mom to no avail and as someone who grew up in poverty and was constantly bombarded by people and organizations looking to use and profit off the less fortunate.
>>133136400Probably enforce baffler more.>>133136462Oh blackfire could be intresting then i suppose.
>>133136462>I think Roxy Rocket has potential.Unrealized potential. She needs more page time.
>>133117960Reboot back to how it was before OYL. Cass can barely talk, much less read, Steph has a lot of enthusiasm and stick-to-it-ness, and has some people skills, but lacks in education and martial arts, and Babs is in the fucking wheelchair like she should be.
>>133136517>Babs is in the fucking wheelchair like she should be.No thanks.
>>133136575She can also be sexy Oracle without being completely disabled.
>>133136644No, she really can't.
>>133136476Deacon Blackfire immediately came to mind, but he's kind of a mess of a character and sorta dead right now. I had an idea of revamping Sewer King from BTAS into the feebleminded front/enforcer of a sociopathic runaway who poses as one of his victims. Seems like something that fits this notion. On an aside I want Klarion back as her trickster frenemy. And total not!boyfriend.
>>133136659I sense a halloween special.
>>133136644I guess, but I would prefer if they were able to competently implement her Oracle skills into her Batgirl persona.
Steph's anger issues coming into conflict with Cass and Babs regarding villains has big story potential. Too bad it will be ignored.
>>133136677>Oh the gormless and insipid inhabitants of this grimy, thrice-cursed metropolis scurrying about their tableau of caricatured monsters. Shall Teekl and I give them a taste of true monstrosity? Perhaps the emaciated and faceless hunting beasts from the Valley of K'thn? Or maybe a flock of breethynk from the red-lit caverns of dread Tsugg-Tsugg to descend upon them with chitinous wings? The skeletal guardians of the dead city of Nakeem would give them such a fright with their fangs of jade and talons of silver.>I know I'm supposed to stop you, but those all sound rad as hell.
>>133136659Admtibely blackfire is also pretty perfect as a foe for Azrael, to the point im suprised they've never ever met. Tbh sewer king always felt a lot like ratcatcher, then again you could do something with him (or his movie daugther). If you cant have tim, that's the second best option imo.
>>133136476>>133136659I'm trying to think of a plot where Steph runs into Jason who's investigating Blackfire's activities, maybe recruiting teenage runaways. And maybe Cass being susceptible to Blackfire's brainwashing and trying to use her as a tool.
>>133136853>And maybe Cass being susceptible to Blackfire's brainwashingIt'd be a change from Steph being brainwashed agian.
>>133136853Hmm could work, tho obviously the stuff with cass and mind control might bring back less than ideal memories. But Cass being someone that is trying to be less severe contrasting with the other two could work.
>>133136850>I say that I think Killer Moth has a sexy voice and you rag on me nonstop. Cass admits to having a bit of a crush on a terrorist and you bring it up constantly. All that and it turns out you're out there playing will we-won't we with Klarion the Witch Boy!>I refuse to apologize for skinny goth boys with prominent cheekbones. My main thing with Ratcatcher is that his setup is more weirdo hermit than recurring supervillain. >>133136853Blackfire's issue is that it's really hard to do a small-scale story involving him.
>>133118574for a guy haunted by the loss of his family this guy sure has a lot of kids he maintains a decent relationship with
>>133136945The funny thins is that both of them would have had a much shorter thing than steph's since hers did materialize into an actual kiss.True but no reason why he cant do both.
>>133137127You need some level of proactive motivation to sustain a recurring villain.
>>133136853>Steph runs into JasonThey should interact more.
>>133137151Babs keeps following hers.
>>133137177isn't it kind of weird all of Bruce's adopted wards are the spitting image of him
>>133137177They can't. People will start shipping them.
>>133117960Get Tamaki on the book. Yes, really.Cass and Steph fans, more than anything else, are walking encyclopaedia's of their characters. They love the history and continuity of these characters, and you need a writer who can match that level of knowledge.Cloonrad BLATANTLY have not read nearly enough about these characters and it shows. Most of the book's problems stem from this. Tamaki isn't perfect, but she has demonstrated that when it comes to Batgirls, she can deliver.
>>133118574>Damian - the prodigal sonLOLLMAODamian is villain, which sales were so low that is got CANCELLED
>>133137907>low that is got CANCELLEDMore like got the writer to write the big event. Then another big writer took over.
>>133137841Ok but who are you getting to do the art
>>133137841Two-Face:OBD was her audition for it. Why else would she use Cass and Steph.
>>133137001it's supposed to be part of his character growth. It's a shame that hardly any of his major breakthroughs ever really stick
>>133134174There's nothing stylish about stripper heels, and Babs wouldn't wear them.
>>133134276>Why complain about us shitting up the board?
>>133138754One thread talking about comic book characters isn't shitting up the board you sperg
>>133137256It's an insistance to just not give them their own unique features.
>>133137151Lmao, only babs has that attitude.>>133137177They do feel a bit too similar for one to get much juice out of it.>>133137256Even cass has been drawn with blue eyes once or twice.>>133137841Yeah pretty much. Suprised how many people here seem to agree with that.
>>133137841>Get Tamaki on the book. Yes, really. He said fix>>133137907>still has better sales than every other batcharacter except for nightwing and bruce
>>133142070Did Tamaki write anything actually bad or are people just salty over the Starfire book?
>>133142070The fact everyone is willing to give her a chance on the strength of writing Cass and Steph in character for a couple panels shows how bad Batgirls currently is.
>>133142309Well with Cass its due to the short story, and with steph its because she actually used an element of the character that had long fallen by the wayside rather than just writing her as "lol quirky".
>>133138730Her canary yellow gogo boots were the stuff of legend. Heel type and length varies by artist..
>>133142300The Starfire book is legitimately shit.
>>133142300A lot of people didn't like her She-Hulk, but she was coming off of Civil War 2 and was stuck with a lousy premise that she had to maintain.
>>133135141Steph hates Cain with a burning passion, in part because he honestly loves and cares for Cass. One of the worst people on the planet is a better dad than hers, and it hurts more than she wants to admit. She doesn't have much of an opinion about Shiva, who at least just left and didn't take any interest in Cass as daughter.
>>133135141>>133142533I doubt we'll ever see the pregnancy thing ever touched on again but the fact that Shiva basically gave up Cass to Cain would probably disturb her given how she gave up her own child.
>>133142604I don't know about if disturb is the right word, but it'd certainly cause Steph to have an even lower opinion of Shiva than your usual murderer.
>>133142337>rather than just writing her as "lol quirky".I think Steph would be more perky if she has to hang around Cass and Babs all day because someone has to bring the energy. But during a serious case, she should rightly get serious.
>>133143312She's more the straightman when someone perkier is around.
>>133143190Everyone loves Dick
>>133136476Baffler should also be Cass' detective nemesis. She just CANNOT get the hints even when they are obvious to everybody else.
>>133142300Starfire's fat daughter book. That was utter shit.Otherwise, she's been mediocre at worse, I think
>>133144570Even I Am Not Starfire had the decency to say that the protagonist was creating all her problems and needed to get over herself.
>>133144600Maybe it needed a better artist.
>>133142514she did a decent work on She-Hulk, gave a good reason for everything and by the end set up the character so the following authors could keep going on the set direction or revert to the usual Shulkie without much issues. Then Aaron came and ignored EVERYTHING in her book.
>>133144627the art and the initial setup were REALLY bad and soured A LOT of reactions
>>133143312Maybe, but i appreciate giving Steph some of her edge back. And you could play the contrast that Steph seems chipper-er on the outside but can be angrier and more emttional while cass can be brighter despite her uprbining.>>133142533Kino.>>133144476Could be fun.
>>133144728List of Cass' nemesis:1. high heels2. BafflerBecause of Baffler, Riddler also took it as a personal goal to tailor riddles for Cass, but it's still a work-in-progress so they started mostly about "innocuous" crimes. They STAY as such because Riddler found very relaxing to work on something so different than usual.
>>133144875>Riddler tries to train Cass in the art of the Riddle, because he NEEDS the bats to be a challenge for him. >They get to his last riddle. >Cass spells out how she's been leaving him clues this whole time, but he's FAILED to pick up on it because his ego and condescension blinded him. >The hardest part was coming up with homophobes on the spot. >You mean "homophones">You're mainsplaining again. AND missing an obvious clue. >Y-you're wrong! I'LL SHOW YOU A HOMOPHOBE! >Still waiting. >GAAAH!!!
>>133144875>>133145090I still prefer the idea that Cass works on insane nonlogic, incorrect interpretations, and blind luck, yet beats the Riddler every time.
>>133145370That's how she defeated the Riddler the first time: getting to the right solution for the wrong reasonRiddler not getting what the hell actually happened until he gets a chance to chat with Baffler(they frequent the same fruit vendor), leading him to understand Cass must have some cognitive issue, thus forcing himself to make tailored clues because a riddle is not a riddle if it doesn't gives understandable clues
Add in Awkward Batdad moments. It's always funny when Batman makes an effort to be human once in a while.
How much does Steph hate criminals? Enough to kill? One bad mission before going full Frank Castle?
>>133145370>Cass works on insane nonlogic,Westian logic
>>133145833Look at Robin's expression there. The grim determination. He knows. He knows there are few dangers in this world as extreme as a sparrow with a machine gun. Just thinking about those fuckers sends him into a boiling rage.
>>133145776Steph was ready to choke her dad to death with a chain at age 15 before getting talked out of it. And thats usually considered one of the most intimately brutal ways to kill someone.

>>133146463It's funny because Barbara isn't like the others. She was never one of Bruce's kids. She just started to dress up a bat one night entirely on her own, so she can't blame Bruce for being a bad influence.

>>133126730That's an awful amount of pressure for everyone to put on her when they know she has communication issues and it's also not necessary. Literally anybody else in the batfam could do that role better if it was needed, and it makes everyone else look like shitheads if they make Cass do it.
>>133148799Clearly more effective armor. Haven't you ever played an MMO?

they should remake one where instead the joker paralyzing her, he brainwash her instead but then she doesnt know she was brainwashed and every now and then she just goes into a hypno state like the winter soldier when given the trigger words or action then when she is visiting the joker to give inside info, the joker is using her as a sex toy and finally impregnating her but she thinks it belonged to whoever she is dating at that time, robin / nightwing or something then when the baby gets born and through some sort of event, robin believe the kid is not his then did a dna test then find out that the kid is not his and they realize its the jokers basically the joker turns her into his ntr sex toy finally she cant accept that she's been tainted by the joker then she kills herself and her legacy is succeeded by her daughter, the joker's kid. trained by robin to take down joker but then when she finally had the chance to take him down, joker did joker;s magic and captures her instead and fked her then robin revealed that she is joker's daughter then she feels disgusted to be fked by her bio dad and kills herself but not before she fond out that she is pregnant and joker did surgery to save that baby .... girl

>>133159192For one, Babs lost about a million IQ points.
>>133159192it's boring. Ignoring all the liberties taken with each character and whatnot, the actual stuff happening is incredibly boring. There is very little to the book besides "these characters you know are here and a team"
>>133159185'tis a secret. Tho i do roughly have a limit of 1k a month for comms.
>>133158883Its fucking insane that Damian and Jason are now commonly known names int he batfandom but Cass isn't.
>>133159530Anecdotal so it might not have too much weight, but i do see that after the robins and barbara cass is the one that ive seen people recognize the most
>>133159530Jason was famously dead for decades, and irrevocably so before coming back as an edgy boy right around the same time Bucky did. Steph's demise and subsequent mistreatment bought her some internet interest. Though she's still mostly thought of as The Girl Robin.
>>133159544>after the robins and barbara cass is the one that ive seen people recognize the mostReally? I would’ve thought characters like Huntress or Batwoman would be more recognizable.
>>133160187Huntress is only known for having the belly costume by normies and that being a culture war talking point because people took offense over it being removed. Which is funny because once she got the Jim Lee costume she stopped being relevant as an individual hero.
>>133160187>or Batwoman would be more recognizable.Which one?
>>133160187I think because they tend to associate Huntress with other stuff than batman. And with batwoman i remember some just confusing her with barbara.
>>133160589Lousy lesbo stole Babs' thunder.
>>133160853To be fair, i do think that batwoman is still fairly recognizable. Mostly thanks to being used in adaptations a bunch.

>>133169921Dont think anyone has actually.
>>133168549But when? It’s still hasn’t happened.
>>133169710Which is probably why the romance angle become a thing. People blame Timm for it(despite not writing but only being involved in two things with the pair, both of which showing it as a failed relationship) But I think it kind of just came up in the writer's room from Bruce and Babs's chemistry.
>>133169710She was genuinely happy for him, and even seemed eager to have Bruce married off. I guess she decided to take him on herself since Dick seems to rebuff her here.
>>133169939You'd think it would have come up considering it'd be some MILFy type brutalizing a hardbodied Asian hottie then forcing him to impregnate her. I'm going with Davina for fem!Cain, but I'm not sure about dude!Shiva. Obviously his moniker would be Lord Kali, but while the logical assumption is that he'd share the same name as dude!Cass, most of the names I've seen given to r63 Cass can't shortened in two ways like Cassandra.
>>133170167Dunno, i feel in general its mostly the batboys that get the treatment to start with.Ive seen both Cassius and Kass for male cass a few times. Both of those work.

>>133170457Wish she trained steph more. Blond Justice.
>>133170253Yeah, I usually see Cassius. I was meaning you can't do the "same name, different diminutive" thing like with Cass and Sandra.

>>133170677I dont think there's one for sandra, huh.
>>133170711Until they can nail balancing and pacing the story for three leads they don't need to be adding guest stars.

>>133171053Shocking swerve, Cass makes the sucking joke when Kon is playing the vampire. He needs a minute to process it.
>>133171094Even if she was playing vampire, she'd try, Cass does have a snarky nature.
>>133171209Well sort of since Dinah isn't a natural blonde, but she has a blonde heart.
>>133171307I think the Lazarus pit permanently bleached her
>>133171209A running gag that started with this premise for Supergirl, but soon expanded to DC blondes as a whole.
>>133117960Make her not cringe, get a good artist, give him a ton of time and an art team, get a good old writer and there you is. Do that for all comics and american comics will stop sucking.
>>133117960Let Cass and Steph not be fully gay but “friends with benefits” who practice with each other.
>>133172983Doesn't solve the fact these comics still run forever on a pointless serialization where any new writer can reset everything.
You have to give DC credit. Portraying two Gotham girls as friends rather than girlfriends.
>>133174447yeah, honestly american comics doom themselves with this shit, like cant they just end some of these characters, how long can they realistically go on with this failing style, even monthly this is bullshit.
>>133174844Tim is probably filling that particular quota for the Gotham books.
>>133175330Probably why continuity is half-assed reset every so often
>>133171913It can do that?
>>133177825Given how many chemicals are in them, I'd say so.
>>133174844Seriously. Must be something in the water. But you can say that about EVERYTHING in gotcham
>>133149333>Do we have any info on who this is under the maskNope, it was concept art from the cancelled Batman game from WB Studios, but I think its supposed to be Roman's fiancé
>>133178930...so he got a sex change, or what?
>>133179056No, I think Roman Sionis fiancé became Black Mask after he died or something
>>133179056Roman once forced his model ex-fiance to disfigure herself.
>>133179467>>133179727*Sigh, what a waste. Still, at least she's got a hot body.
This was a sexy Babs.
>>133169921...you know whatJust let me get back home
>>133175330One of the best parts of Cassandra's original Batgirl run was that it was a reasonably logical series of character arcs.
If only Batman and Robin had been better recieved. We might have gotten a decent Batgirl movie.
>>133181807Making Barbara not a relation of Gordon was kind of weird, but I suppose that Alfred was the beloved long-term actor and character in the movies at the time.
>>133182323>heelsOh hell yes!
>>133180525Beady little eyes. Man I hate this art.
>>133180463very much so.
>>133117960Have them fight more ninjas>>133117971kek
Still hoping for a Batmoth elseworlds one of these days.
Is this it, then? Are they getting serious?
>>133184126Oh hey one of mine, a very similar nsfw one is being worked on now
>>133184904At this point, it feels like it's harder to find a sexy Cass pic that wasn't comissioned by you. ;)
>>133117960There is nothing wrong with them
>>133185181I take that as a compliment :)
>>133185223They seem a little off balance to me.
>>133184301Until the next big writer doesn't want them together or non-Dickbabs ships get popular on social media. Last time they were together it lasted for something like four years and when they killed it no one cared.>>133183598I had an idea for one, the basic premise is Oracle recruits Killer Moth as her operative instead of Black Canary.
I wonder if Dick has done any trapeeze fighting workshops with the batfamily. Feels like it would be relevant here.
>>133185715>when they killed it no one cared.I think its because people just forget they arne't together honestly. For a lot of comic fans the alst 10 years are like a blue and they take a lot of things for granted. Like I still see people amazed Steph came back or Cass isn't evil.
>>133186708Nobody tell Rip Van Winkle how Spidey is doing.
>>133186608Oh hey another one of mine :)
Cass with claws. Yay or nay?
>>133187995Something like this?
>>133188230Fits pretty well.
>>133158883>Babs is iconicBATGIRL is iconic. Nobody who's a casual really cares about anything beyond that. It's like saying Robin is iconic. You're not wrong but casuals don't know or care about the lore.
>>133185715>You know who I am. I'm Killer Moth. I'm the criminal's batman! And I'm... confused. Why would a mysterious sexy voice hijacking my helmet radio want to pay me to play detective on a globe trotting adventure?>...>Are you still there?>Yes. Sorryiwasdistracted. *ahem As you said, you're the criminals' batman. Batman is a detective, and who better than a criminal to be a detective among criminals. >I'm no snitch. >Oh of course you are. For the right price. >*ding>Oh, hey. Bank deposit. Wow.>Isn't that better than getting beaten up by Batman for the umpteenth hundred time?>Batman doesn't kill, unlike some of these mugs you want me to check out. But You DID pay my deposit, and then some. I guess I can at least check it out for you. By the way, ever work a hotline?>Why? Because I have a "mysterious sexy voice"?>Do you practice that, or does it just come natural?>You'll have plenty of time to listen and decide for youself. >Promise?>I'll keep in touch. Flight leaves in an hour, handsome. Don't be late. *click>Handsome? Is there a camera somewhere?
>>133159530Damian had the 2010s to establish his nameJason had the fame of getting killed off by the fansCass just needed a stronger foundation to be established more. Meaning, either a famous story, or more development. Which is shame she didn't. Babs got the Killing Joke, and a lot of comics. Cass either needs one of the two.
>>133188270Who cares about the lore? All normies recognize is the sexy redhead in a tight suit.
>>133188456TKJ writes off Babs, and isn't a batgirl story. Cass as Batgirl has almost as many solo issues as Babs did, and got launched off the heels of a major Batcrossover which is part of the reason sales started so strong for her.the first 30~ issues of Cass' series are better and more tightly composed than anything Babs has.the entire reason Cass(and steph) aren't known is because they didn't get featured in New 52 and the animated movies or games.
with my dick
>>133188796ALL of them.
>>133188848Hey I made that edit, but here's a better version. Removed that line below the mouth.
>>133188934Thanks for the edits!
why did didio hate steph so much
>>133189075because she's not babs. he also hated dick because babs is his waifu and he was jealous of a comic book character.
>>133189075Bill Willingham was also weird about her. He said he wanted to gun down girls who kept bringing up Steph's lack of a Robin memorial case. A character being organically popular with girls was a big no-no.
>>133117960Three volumes of full blown futa on female/femboy content. Orgies, ntr, cum inflation, tentacles, public use, fuckin throw it all in there.
>>133185715If I'm not wrong, is not necessarily a thing only that the writer decides, but an editor also manage those decisions, meaning that if the next writer does not want to keep developing dickbabs, but that couple is still being worked on the Batgirland comic, then probably the editor might forbid the writer from, for example, put Dick in a relationship with another character. Honestly, I don't know how much this relationship will last, but seeing how they are taking their time to growth it, I think it will be here for a sweet time.
>>133189475We just need the right girl to steal Dick away.
>>133189609Kate says Bette needs to stay single until she's "ready" and "mature" for a relationship
>>133152758The webtoon is amusing
500th reply for Cass the worst Batgirl
>>133189680unlike Robin all Batgirl's are good.
>>133189855Tim is a very skinny gay twink now
>>133189475The bigger the writer the more able they are to ignore editorial. Also even a single book downplaying the relationship can have an impact on the whole thing, especially if said book is a good seller. So even if editorial is dead set on it, if you've got a writer who only uses Babs at the bare minimum to please the editors and puts no effort into writing an interesting relationship on Nightwing then it probably won't be long before people start saying the relationship is boring and wasting space.>>133189635>But I'm not looking for a mature relationship, I just want Hank and/or Gar to put my ankles by my ears and not get weird about it the next day!
