What would do with a Catwoman comic, /co/?I'd turn her into a pulpy Doc Savage/Indiana Jones/Lara Croft esque thief adventurer. Not just robbing museums but also collecting ancient artifacts and stuff from dig sites
Back to purple, but she has costume changes as neededLots of disguises and gadgetsShe's rarely in Gotham, going for bigger and bigger targetsShe'll protect people if they're unjustly picked on in her way, but she doesn't go out of her way to look over people. She doesn't care about the East end or whateverShe loves being selfish and hedonistic, parties hard between heists, plays people against each otherBasically like Fujiko Mine
>>133082628Something on the line of When in Rome or Ed Brubaker run.
>>133082969I never want to see that suit again, It was a mistake.
>>133083000Shit taste, I was the best costume she had. This is why elements of it still are present in the newer ones.
>>133083112It's boring, Plus they made her into prude.
>>133083112>Elements It isn't the same one?
>>133082969>Cooke making rules for a Hooker.
>>133083125>Plus they made her into prude.I don't know what you find "prude" in skin-tight latex or leather,
>>133083112They basically have to change the point of it by making is really tight or showing off her breasts, lol. I wish I could've asked Cooke what he thought of how Jim Lee drew it in Hush.
Both Catwoman & She-Hulk got Hijacked in the early 00s.
>>133083132My image? yeah, I was talking about the goggles, black as her main color, and short hair. Stuff like it seems to not go away or reaper constantly.
>>133083211Unless you are talking about making cat puns or meowing, I don't see the real difference.
>>133083208Yeah, I said Elements because I can't see any actual changes. It seems to be the exact same, but it's more or less formfitting depending on artist.
20 years of this shit.Back to Purple!
>>13308327590s Catwoman is shit.
>>133083299Purple was her color for 50 years.
>>133083299At least it's not larping as a 40's pastiche with Selena drowning the reader in her self-doubts.
>>133083332And Batman was blue, who cares?
>>133083352Besides you, I don't even remember somebody who talks about the 90s run.
>>133083211Honestly, they just made her sex appeal more contemporary. Same with the costume. 90s Catwoman today looks like a halloween costume and her femme fatale persona back then felt incredibly campy and fake. It's not like you can't have different interpretations of Catwoman but just like Bruce went from super-heroic caped crusader to damaged stoic basket case, Catwoman can go from a hammy femme fatale dressed in a skintight purple unitard that shows her nipples to a sly noir antiheroine with a padded leather suit, and it's fine.
>>133083437Thats a bad take because most people don't talk about old solo runs in general. Hell, no one really talks about her 2000's book either.
>>133083645usually whenever people talk about catwoman in a positive sense it's one of the only things that comes up. Brubaker's first few arcs, When in Rome, Selina's Big Score. Because they're actually good, fun stories that stand up pretty well.
Putting Catwoman in a latex costume was genius. Taking away the visibility of the big green eyes and putting her in combat boots instead of combat heels was a mistake.Gulacy mostly corrected that in his run and the costume has endured because it puts Selina in the fetish costume she was always meant to wear>>133082753>>133083000
>>133082628A lot of very suggestive run-ins with underage boys
>>133083744It's leather, I think. I think the goggles are incredibly striking when you go for severe lighting with hard shadows and junk and they're glowing green or red on her silhouette, but if you ever don't like them you can always just like, flip 'em up.I like how the boots look in the context of the leather suit, with the "cuffs" being noticeably pronounced and big looking at her legs, but I'm not entirely opposed to making the heels taller considering it's Catwoman.
>>133083663>Brubaker's first few arcs,And that's it, the book stalls after that and never recovers. When in Rome uses Tim Sale's design, and Big Score barely has her int he suit.
No dyke hair or doc martens
>>133083878>short hair>dyke hairshut the fuck up also fix your weird-ass anatomy
>>133083744>>133083819Thighboots over a leather/pvc/latex/vinyl/whatever catsuit are an absolute must purely because it's my fetish. Also, what do you guys think about the armpit windows?
>>133083962This outfit is really cute and stylish, and I'm glad it got rid of the stupid goggles. Giving her the ear goggles motif over the eared cowl was redundant, and selina's eyes should already be catlike anyway.
>>133083988I'm just addicted to hellboyish artstyles with hard shadows and giving her big glowing cat eyes when she's in the shadows (which she should be, she's a thief, a cat burglar, not a femme fatale running around toting an AK) is the best to me- and it makes more sense with goggles
>>133084036She used to do the big glowing eyes thing in older comics without the goggles, too(same as Babsgirl)
>>133083744The combat boots are ok, and the goggles give her a unique element for her design and can always be put on her forehead if you want a more expressive face. What sells it is the skin-tight black leather with the zipper to her hips. It gives her a sexy femme fatale with a noir feel, instead of the crazy hooker with a cat costume.
>>133084054but then they can't sometimes be red, which I also like
>>133083878That's a terrible mash-up of the 90s and 2000s era.
>>133084068>Look out kids it's the Flying Fox!
>>133084054yeah but the goggles give her a more stylish form to the eyes area.
>>133084116Must... Resist... Digimon... Joke...
>>133083819I actually like the goggles too, I just think the eyes should be visible when she wears themA good median for me would be a classic Catwoman mask with goggles that fit over them like the Fernando Blanco op image
>>133083962armpit windows are greatthey should give her ankle and belly button windows too
>>133083962Mixed feelings, I love a clean silhouette. I kinda want to see a Catwoman with the Brubaker suit but with a mask over the exposed part of her face just to see what it'd look like. But I don't hate it or anything.
>>133084420>brubaker suitcooke suit, mb
I don't know about you all, but I much prefer Catwoman's origin as like an amnesiac flight attendant or a manic secretary gone bad than having her play this ridiculous role as a mob princess who gets adopted and molested has an invalid sister and yadayadayada
>nine issue mini-series>chronicles the life and times of Selina Kyle, showcasing her evolution as a character while loosely mirroring the trends in her publication history>each issue is basically a self-contained story from various eras of her life, from her early days as a thieving street urchin, to her varied career as a super villainess, to her dubious status as a reformed anti-villain>the throughlines of these stories emphasize how she's clawed herself out of the throes of chronic poverty with a misanthropic "survival of the fittest" philosophy that's colored her perspective of the world, how her pride starkly clashed with Batman's rigid principles throughout all the years they spent as enemies in spite of their mutual attraction, and how his influence eventually moved her to change for the better>the last issue ends however, from the POV of some lowlife animal abuser being terrorized by Catwoman who fatally underestimated the ire of a crazy cat lady>a "Cats of Ulthar" esque ending implied for him, calling into question just how "tamed" she really isI don't know, winging it with some of these ideas. It'll probably be some noncanon shit but I personally prefer a more villainously inclined Catwoman than some prostitute with a heart of gold or something.

I had a really fucking retarded out there catwoman idea while feverishly tired awhile ago>Catwoman elseworlds with an alternate Selina in an advanced magitek fantasy setting>Dishonored with some art deco might be a good comparison (also everyone is cat people, but that's not important)>She's still a thief, but usually rather than a thrill seeker works as a fixer, cleaning up crime scenes under the noses of investigators, doing frame-ups, dirty political work- but it pays the bills, and the government here is actually incredibly stable and competent, so it brings some thrills, on top>She's still friendly and empathetic (especially towards the local gutter trash,) but she's a little more cynical and ruthless- especially when it comes to her work>Story follows her following a plot at the behest of her usual client, a powerful city councilman- when she begins to experience strange sensations. Deja vu when meeting people evocative of rogues, a sense of wrongness in her career, and strangest, a sort of phantom limb sensation- tail feels like it isn't there>Eventually comes to light as the main plot progresses that This is the main universe Catwoman- she's been abducted and had her identity completely rewritten to seamlessly fit into this universe>The idea, here, was to utilize a quality she unknowingly has as a cape heroine- their universe is more like ours in that outcomes are usually the obvious ones, but Selina just straight up stretches causality around her to produce more entertaining and exciting outcomes>Dude who planned this wanted to use Selina to force some meaningful change (in his favor) on a world that's been stagnant for generations, but it begins backfiring when the stakes keep rising and new plots and twists begin popping up to comic extremes, and the city begins to look and feel more and more like Gotham>Selina's presence is degenerating the setting into noir capeshitr8 my schizodream
>>133088283bretty gud elseworld concept, far better than most hypercrisis shitSelina's not in Gotham anymorehow would she get back home again?click her heels?
>>133088602I'm not sure I thought as far as a solid ending Selina's goal of "break up a political plot against her boss and make good money doing it" would pretty drastically and immediately shift as soon as she has adequate reason to suspect that there's something going on with her identity and she's not who she thinks she is. She'd start looking into it more and more, but grow a little conflicted as she's started making genuine friendships with her fellow co-workers and lowlives in cat-people land. One ending that comes to mind is Selina storming in on her kidnapper only to find he's already set up the ritual to throw her back where she belongs as her normal self. At first she's outraged that he'd basically just go "fuck off" after everything he did and they go at it with her having the intent to, if not kill him, definitely thoroughly fuck him up. But everything has been getting steadily worse to the point that all of the coinciding plotlines and crazy narrative arcs are becoming impossible to keep track of. Everything is falling into overdramatic, hackneyed chaos- and eventually, one of Selina's friends interrupts the beatdown and convinces her, as much as she's grown to care for this place, as much as she wants to see things right herself with every bone of her body, she just has to get the fuck out while she still can and leave someone else to finish the "story" and fix things. So she does. Either that, or while things are degenerating she manages to find an out on her own, and she leaves without any fanfare or strong resolutoin after making the same realization on her own that going any further or seeking any closure would just make things worse.
>>133085264These faces are nightmare fuel.
>>133088812Kind of a Catwoman meets Pynchon vibe which is pretty cool.Would it be safe to call your world more steampunk or cyberpunk?
>>133088077No pusi window?
>>133089178you sick fuck
>>133088283Not quite my style but I dig it. It would have to be done with a neon noir aesthetic tho
>>133089039Dieselpunk-ish more than anything, so closer to steampunk. Something like a very dense and vertically-built 1930s-era city with a loving helping of art deco wherever you look. You've got your dingy and shady parts of town particularly around street level and in wealthier and more important parts of town you get these impressive and ornate concrete buildings almost built more like fortresses.Their society uses something like magic pretty casually in their tech, but the form that tech takes varies from something like a gas meter to more strange, ritualistic devices it'd be hard to discern the purpose of at a glance. I'm coming to the thought that I might have just mashed a bunch of stealth game settings together without realizing, but that's fine.
>>133082753This guy gets it. If you're going to make Selina her own person outside of a love interest, get her the hell away from Gotham and actually have her interact with the larger universe. It always amazes me that as much as people praise Brubaker's run for streamlining her character, they ignore how reductive it was in that regard.>>133088283>>133088812>>133089592Sounds like a higher concept version of Waking Up on the Wrong Side of the Universe. I'd definitely read it.
I would write her as a kleptomaniac nymph, and she would speak in cat puns.
>>133088077at that point just have her naked or wearing a bikinior some leotardjust no fucking holes
>>133090349You're kittenthat's pawful
>>133090341IMO Wild Ride was like the best example I can think of of Selina getting out of the city and having adventures. His run starts cooling down and getting worse after she comes back.
>>133090419Works for me.
>>133083878Agreed. Fuck dyke hair and boots. But I can go either way on purple vs black.
>>133090341I'm somehow surprised that Catwoman-in-space is an arc that someone's already done
The Brubaker/Cooke run was a breath of fresh air the character needed after the Balent era ended and the character struggled to find a role in Gotham in a wave of editorial changes, but its stagnated the character for too long now. Too many people hold it as sacred for "legitimizing" the character. The character seems stuck being Batman's girlfriend when its convenient instead of having that playful banter, and after the cancelled wedding its hard to go back to that banter.
>>133094749I really don't like this page, it's in bad taste.
>>133094749Most of the times when I've read more recent Catwoman comic I think my problems are:>Mid art it might be lame to say it but the best thing about early Brubaker catwoman is that it's incredibly stylish >Lack of a persistent, solid supporting cast>Lack of a solid overarching concept for an arc>Lame melodrama, and worse, grounded criminal melodrama+romanceI don't know if the problem is necessary "stagnance," because that's just the package deal with capeshit. Batman is stagnant and it honestly works just because Batman is a fun story in itself. I think the problem is more that they're just telling bad stories with the character that are tonally not that fun?I feel like Selina should mash up melancoly, earnest neo-noir with fun thief adventures ala lupin III. I think that's the fun duality that makes the character. If you lean too hard into pure melodrama (which fyi I don't think brubaker really did) then it grows weary for a comic setting, but if you lean too hard into pure adventure with a sultry amoral femme fatale like the 90s book I find it hard to be able to care.
>>133095053I don't care about her inner thoughts of self-doubts.Just have fun adventures.
>>133094749Need more cat puns because this is boring as fuck.
>>133095084Having characters with actual feelings makes the fun adventures more fun. It's what makes the character likable beyond fetish appeal, that she's a thrillseeking, dubiously moral daredevil with a heart.I think the arc where Selina "goes good" in a big way and tries to fix up the city or something happens a bit too often and grows tired quickly, but there's LITERALLY nothing wrong with her being a good person who isn't always sneering cat puns and fucking people before robbing them
>>133095152That doesn't look anything like her.
>>133095198It's HollyShe's been part of her main cast for decades.
I don't want to be a Catwoman fan anymore, Too much gatekeeping.
>>133095224oh so you're a catwoman fan?name all of her appearances
>Batman can be anything, But Catwoman can only be one thing...
>>133095436isn't that what you're saying when you insist that Catwoman should only be fun adventures and nothing else
>>133095053>Batman is stagnant and it honestly works just because Batman is a fun story in itself. I think the problem is more that they're just telling bad stories with the character that are tonally not that fun?Well that's the thing, Batman may be somewhat stagnant, but within the last 20 years, I can say the early 2000's era feels different from the Morrison era, different from the New 52/Snyder era, different from the Rebirth era. But Catwoman still feels stuck in the same sort of stories.
>>133095492Aren't you the one pushing that Cooke is the only real Catwoman?
>>133095530Not really. I think that restricting her to "no drama, just fun sexy adventures" is by far a more restrictive thing to do to her character than her having morals
>>133095520I don't really feel that Catwoman has ever felt similar to the early 2000 days despite clear attempts to ape it, I guess.
>>133095576No, this mellow-drama of her growing a conscious was an over-correction, She was never Evil EVIL.
>>133095658Thief with a heart is just more interesting than her overtly not caring about anyone else.FYI you can still have fun adventure heist stories. You can still have her as cynical and primarily looking out for number one, you just have actual plotted-out character moments. Most of the 90s Catwoman I read was just the same thing over and over again with more fetish content. And honestly, there was still melodrama, it was just... Bad.
>>133082628My self-insert cucks Batman! Hire me DC!
>>133095722Yeah everything is more interesting when she's a boring face.
>>133095722>Cooke's run is just good, because 40's pastiche!
>>133095763Being a heel 24/7 isn't really exciting either. It's more fun when her backstabbing her partner and making off with a payday isn't a literal guarantee. We might just have to agree to disagree because I've liked Selina a lot as an ambiguous noir antiheroine out for herself but trying to read such stories as "Selina totes an AK-47 and fights a drug cartel" I can't find the lasting appeal. I don't think it's fun, just corny
>>133095626I'd agree in that it doesn't feel like the good Brubaker stuff, it feels more like the stagnant Pfeiffer era after Brubaker.
>>133095852Yeahhh, it all feels like Pfeiffer to me. Not fun, not emotional in a good way, just kind of dramatic.
>>133095845Yeah, yeah everything you say is right.I think I hate Catwoman now thanks.

>>133096248short hair is best, though something like this is good too
>>133095882And thats generally what I mean by saying she's gone stagnant. Not everyone can be Brubaker, sometimes stupid fun is better than trying to keep the character played super straight for years.

Supervillain has something valuable, something that's on a time table. It's useless unless its used at a specific time a week from when the story begins. Several other supervillains and heroes know this supervillain has this item. They capture Catwoman, knowing there will be attempts to steal it, forcing her to make it impossible to steal. If they get to use the item in a week from now, she lives. If it's stolen, she dies.
>>133102072Yeah I kinda get that. The art is nice tho

>>133104352I enjoy parts of Joelle Jones' and Ram V's runs, but yeah I see what you mean. DC has been struggling in general these days with longer form work, and seem to be leaning more and more on shorter miniseries and their black label stuff, to varying success. Also yes. Pretty sure Catwoman canonically has the best ass among all the Gotham City sirens
>>133084366>>133085162>>133085704>>133085018Pretty sure her zipper goes down far enough.
>>133104563>Gotham City sirensany series where selina hangs out with psychotic murderers is shit.
In my world, Catwoman is genetically altered. She has cat ears for better hearing and her eyes are altered to allow her to see better on the dark. This makes her a much more effective thief. Selina is considered the greatest thief money can buy. She also lampoons as a flight attendant wearing a green uniform like in her first appearances. Her suit gives her the look of a dominatrix, but is purple in color.
>>133104605I see what you mean. Catwoman's not a mass murderer. But if you kinda turn your brain off, the sirens stuff can be just mindless lowkey bisexual cheesecake.
>>133104780yea I mean it's blatant fanservice that I feel only really suits harley's personality.
>>133096098I liked Marini's stuff.
>>133104803Maybe they're all just Harley's delusions while she's in the asylum. Like she imagines her and Ivy and Selina going on these innocent cheesecakey adventures while she's actually rocking by herself in a corner wrapped in a straight jacket after stabbing an orderly to death with a pen or something.
>>133104883unironically a good way to frame it
>>133104883there's also the fact that Selina is always tied up or strung along for the ride in those GCS storiesIt's not like Catwoman is always this willing participant in Harley and Ivy's crimes
>>133105120It'll get worse the more Harley and Ivy become explicitly lez. You could pull it off as a girls' trip when there was this bisexual undertone through the whole thing that never rose to more than a cheeky insinuation. But now that Harley and Ivy are supposed to be in an actual relationship, Selina would come off as just third wheeling it even more than she has in the past.

>>133106034I agree, catwoman fighting criminals is terrible. if she's fighting them because she's ripping them off, I can tolerate it a little more. but adventuress catwoman makes sense too.
>>133106034>>133105978>>133106276She'll always be a burglar first and foremost, because that's her skillset. And to the extent she does vigilante shit, breaking and entering, stealing, and just stealth in general are always going to be her main approach. The only times I'd see her engaging in direct combat purposely (as opposed to fighting purely out of self-defense) is either because of some personal vendetta (like scarring Carmine Falcone), or on behalf of someone she identifies with, like another woman being assaulted, an orphan, or someone truly destitute. She can never truly be a vigilante like Batman though.

>>133106399You missed the point entirely though. She was arguably a less self-sufficient character after Brubaker's run than she was prior. Admittedly it's not entirely his fault, since editorial seemed keen to push her back into the role of Batman's love interest even during his run. The fact remains is that previously there was an attempt to portray her as Batman's equal, and afterwards she became just another ally sequestered in her own compartment of Gotham.

They were like, 'No, it's that we sell consumer toys for heroes. It's hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.'"

Outside of continuity 6 issue miniseries that uses picrel's idea again(Catwoman v2 #89). Selina starts the comic as a solo mission to steal an ancient cat statue(always the main goal), but it's also a deep dive into her history. All the way back to the start to find her best stories, biggest mistakes, any side-characters(Holly, Harley, Ivy, Birds of Prey, members of the Bat-Family, to name a few of the obvious). All flashbacks/backstory are done in a style like the DCAU, and the current timeline is done in a style like Alex Ross. Then use aspects of those stories to either draw parallels to how Selina's currently acting or show that she's learned from her past's errors and how she dealing with or avoided them this time. The majority of the fun of the style switching between DCAU and Alex Ross happens here. Combine that with the side-characters helping/hindering her progress through her current heist.Batman is only mentioned on the last panel of the first page of issue one. He doesn't show up until exactly halfway through, for only one panel. He says something cryptic, we won't understand what it means, until near the end of the final issue. Where we see Batman one last time. The lines he said were a warning to stop the heist, because he's been through all those stories, first hand. He already saw this current heist coming. It shouldn't be a red herring at all, if you've also read the relevant comics, and are willing to put a bit of thought in, you'll be able to understand Batman right away, even if you won't be able to predict the specifics of the rest of the story. Once you've read the story, on a reread, the Batman line will also make sense from just the pages of this story. It's just there to be a fun Easter Egg for dedicated Catwoman fans and not the key to understanding the true story hidden in a code.Turns out the goal was never to steal it for herself, but returning it to the proper owners, surprising even Batman as the final panel.
>>133082628damn she's hot
International thief, con-woman etc. Catches the feels sometimes and gets involved. Have her planning heists, screwing people, screwing over people. Sometimes she is playing socialite, sometimes she is infiltrating something else. Play her off with some characters maybe have a full on multi stage heist. Then mix up the format.>Catwoman is trying to case some mansion by ingratiating herself into it.>Someone gets murdered.>Turns into an Agatha Christie Whoddunit where she is trying to avoid suspicion. But get her out of Gotham.

>>133126839Thanks, I thinking fun adventure heist, and that Catwoman issue I mentioned. I then took the ending of Two Of A Kind, and how Batman is only at the end to take him to Arkham. Catwoman was around since the Golden Age, so if I made it out of continuity, I could go through her entire publishing history, and tell a story that highlights the best and worst moments of all her different iterations. With that I finally had the reason for the DCAU style flashbacks.Because Batman is going to appear, I wanted there to be something for the Bat-Fans. I know one of my biggest complaints is the detective work is lacking. I wanted the reader to be able to solve a mystery, if they chose to or even realized it was possible, but I didn't want to punish new readers who hadn't read every Catwoman story. That's why much of the story is referencing her past, so when you get to the halfway point, you're already steeped in Selina's history. Because it's a 6 issue story, that gives readers a month to notice that what Batman said can be currently solved, before issue 4 is released. The reader who doesn't notice there's a mystery to solve will just see the DCAU moments tying into the current heist story, and won't feel like they're missing something. And then I'm a fan of the idea of ending on a high note. She's stolen the ancient cat statue. You see her walking down an alley with the statue, it's early evening. Batman is on the rooftops, watching. He's getting ready to arrest her, and return the stolen statue, when you see Selina entering a building. The reader/Batman's thinking "What's she doing with the statue/who is she selling it to?" and that's when we see Selina returning it to the descendants of the original creators. You see Selina leaving the building, revealing that they've actually been in Egypt for all the post-heist story, and it closes on Batman's happily surprised face, that Catwoman was using her criminal history to better the world.

>>133134072It's from one of Chaykin's BatbooksDeals with pre-war American/Kraut relations and Batman wanting to stop Adolf but not being able to because of the themes seen in that page
>>133134399Thanks. It started as just a few throwaway lines.>do that catwoman comic with the DCAU artwork used to pitch a tv show >make it a catwoman story about stealing, instead of harleyI fixed some spelling errors, added a bit for clarity. The next thing I realized, I was 300 letters over the character limit(which happened for 4 of my posts about it).People always say that there's too many Joker stories and not enough Riddler stories. I'm not smart enough to write a great Riddler story(or at least it would take significantly longer to write, because I'd want the reader to be able to solve the actual mystery along the way). I figured I'm smart enough to write a great Catwoman story though, and can write a sliver of a mystery. The ending was the toughest part for me to be happy with. It was going to end with Batman arresting her and returning the ancient cat statue, but it didn't make sense in my mind, to give this Catwoman story an ending with Batman saving the day. I went out of my way to make Batman only have a minor role, so I didn't like my original idea to have him stop her. That was just the kneejerk reaction to what would happen, "and then Batman swoops in at the end, saving the day". Like the Chase Me short ends. Then I was workshopping the Chase Me ending for this ending, with Catwoman giving Batman a kiss in the final panel, him blushing, and the frame of the panel is a heart. I really thought that was a fun way to end it, but I wasn't having Batman play a romantic role in this comic. I also couldn't figure out how to get them to the kiss, without just doing something similar to what Chase Me already did. I know that this history is there, but I didn't want Selina doing things that only made sense to long time fans. I want new readers to be able to read it, see some of her greatest hits, to get them interested in her history. Happily surprised Batman is a great moment to end on, as the reader is thinking the same thing as Batman.(cont)
>>133134399>>133135192I will actually write this. I don't know how to draw beyond stick figures, and I've never scripted a comic before. I can write a proper short story though, so that's what it will eventually become. Shame that it would lose the DCAU/Alex Ross art switching, unless I can trick someone into drawing for me. I wouldn't be opposed to learning how to script a comic, but at the same time, illustrated short stories already exist. An illustrated short story wouldn't have as much style switching, but you could still replicate it somewhat, by just having the illustration being the majority of the page, during certain parts. At the very least, I'd really like drawings of all the characters to have the relevant DCAU/Alex Ross style versions, to allow the reader to imagine it. It's going to take quite some time to write this, just reading through every Catwoman story since 1939 and taking notes, will take awhile. I'm not aware of if she's ever been an important part of any of DC's big crises or events, but I feel like including references to those would likely only detract from the overall story(unless there's something that's actually important/interesting that I couldn't not talk about). I'd probably start by writing the very beginning, very middle, and very end early on. Get the Batman parts written, so I can keep those moments in mind, while writing the rest, insuring that the lines Batman says in the middle work within the story. I know how tempting it will be, to just drop the Easter Egg mystery idea completely. So I really want to give it my best shot, before doing the unthinkable, and deleting it entirely. Luckily, since it's never going to be a real comic, I get to write and rewrite it a dozen times or more, so there's always going to be more time to refine the Easter Egg mystery.I'd want there to be a list of all the comics/cartoons that I referenced and were inspired by, allowing readers to go see the originals for themselves.

>>133164356hell yeah, like the 90s run
>>133164280Tom King physically can't bring himself to write that way. He's comitted himself to this idea that Bruce and Selina's relationship has to be on this operatic scale with all these intense emotions and drama and shit, but in reality, it has never been anything like that. Selina started as a flirty punctuation Batman's character arc that, while it could be fun and lighthearted in its own right, has always had an air of brooding darkness about it. And ever since then, whenever Bruce and Selina have actually worked as a couple, she's always made the situation a bit more lighthearted. That's why the visual aesthetics from late 50's/early 60's romcoms have so often woven their way into the art from their runs. There should always be space for elements of films like Charade or To Catch a Thief in their stories. Not all this mopey shit.
