The creators must have put a lot more thought into the show than we've had the chance to see. They have to know how deep this show goes for those who look hard enough. Otherwise, they probably wouldn't have put so much detail into all the background character's jobs and families. Even if the writing often doesn't do them justice, that'd be odd for them to have all of that development only for it to not go anywhere. But at least all the hints so far seem to imply it's not over yet. A plot that really digs deep into the recycling theme could have been great if they observed how these materials are recycled or how toxic it is to leave them lying around. The way Litterbug handled things was just... terrible, honestly.It's the only episode where Elinor didn't say any of her catchphrases. No "That's so interesting!", no "We need more observations!", pretty sure we didn't even get an "I wonder...". Which is funny because they literally didn't learn a single thing from nature. There was nothing to observe or wonder about. The only information they gave besides picking up after yourself was composting, something Leave it to Ari covered in much greater detail, and the rain barrel which is entirely man-made. They could have at least referenced a plant or animal (Like Camilla) that collects and saves water.But worst of all is that this didn't really need to be an episode of Elinor. The plot and the character's personalities were so generic that you could copy the writing over to any other PBS show and it wouldn't make a shred of difference. Oh wait... they actually did that. The episode of Alma's Way called "Looking for Litter" had a nearly identical script as Litterbug did, right down to the exact conclusion that it was them littering the whole time without knowing it, with the only real difference being a couple of one-liners that didn't have much to do with the plot itself.Basically, they threw the entire purpose of Elinor as a whole right out the window just to force in this one lesson, all because it gets the kids who like Elinor to pay attention to it.
