So will this be Prime Mariner fighting Mirror Shaxs or Mirror Mariner (Mirrorner?) fighting Mirror Shaxs?
>>125751375I never actually considered it not being fully Mirror Universe stuff. I guess we'd need one of the main cast there to be a reference. I guess it makes sense that it's our Mariner in the MU
>>125751944Mirror Mariner would either be an actual hardline rules follower. Or dead. Cuz the Terran Empire wouldn't take any of Mariner's crap.
>>125751375Why would Mirror Shaxs be in the Terran Empire? Bajor was allied with the Klingon and Cardassian empires.
>>125752615This is post DS9 though so they'd need someone like Mariner to actually help get headway on defeating the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance because of how wild she is. Speaking of the MU, Discovery making the Terran Empire so evil and rutheless makes how nutered they are by DS9 extra hilarious
you ever think about how close the franchise was to absolute disaster? If there was just one less episode in the entire franchise, then the 800th episode would have been the garbage Mugato one instead of the great Orion/Tom Paris one
>>125753012I still would've preferred the station one be the 800th episode.
>>125752742The Terran Empire has often made exceptions, even the Wehrmacht had black and Chinese soldiers.
>>125753288According to Memory Alpha they skip The Cage to make this 800, so if you want you can add it back and make the Kayshon episode be that instead. Honestly that's the best episode of the season so a better pick.
>>125751375Episode 6 summary. Looks like the plot is about to start moving forward for the last half of the season? McMahan did say the season 2 trailer removed a lot of spoilers, which is very surprising given all they showed.
>>125753534Yeah the Kayshon episode is the strongest so far but the Doopler one is a decent seconder I'd say.
>>125753767There's something about the show's art style the fanart doesnt recapture, though it's close. I think Lower Decks has softer lines or something
Looks like the helmsman is finally getting some attention. Only took a season and a half derp.
>>125753868Fan art uses less blur to create depth of field and also more saturated colors.
>>125751375I don't care, I'm sure it'll be pointlessly cringeworthy and violentMirror Mariner is their one shot this episode and I'm positive they're going to blow it because they can never not suck off Beckett Mariner
>>125753767>Look, Morty, I'm a Star Trek! I made myself a Star Trek!>I'M STAR TREK RIIIIIIICK
>>125753767>>125754252Kek based, hope all the new series come out like this. Best thing to happen to Trek in a while.
>>125751375I don't know. The uniforms look basically like the TOS era mirror universe. Are we sure this isn't just some holodeck shit? I know they showed holodeck characters (apparently) running amok, too.Given his resurrection this seems like something set to cause people to flip but is actually entirely misleading/innocent.
>>125754323The TOS era has the sleeves and sashes, exposed belly for the females, but also two insignia, fwiw.
>>125753012>Gumato sex would be forever immortalized in Star Trek history as the 800th episodeSounds based.
>>125754087I look forward to some clique on clique action
I'm not really a trekkie, ive only absorbed info via osmosis, but I've noticed a couple things after lurking in the various trek threads.>Lore stuff was declassified while Mariner was on the Quito(S1E5)>Lore was originally supposed to lead the Pakleds instead of the Borg>S2E2 shows that the Pakleds are too organized for their own good>S2E5 has lore hiding among data bath bombsBut looking through the wiki, Lore is super dead, and Starfleet has his brain chip. does this theory hold weight for you guys or am I looking at real gullible folks?
>>125751375Prime Mariner disguised as Mirror Mariner fighting Mirror Shaxs who is actually Prime Shaxs in disguise.
>>125754536Could always be B4
>>125751375I'm thinking it's going to be full Mirror, or like In A Mirror Darkly where the crossover is all in characters' heads.I believe McMahan said something about his favourite Enterprise story being brought into this season, which is the basis for my thoughts.
>>125754536Star Trek is at the retarded point where they'll justify rebuilding an entire positronic brain from a single neuron so fuck it, whatever, it could be LoreI want the pain to end
>>125754969Yeah but like someone mentioned, they wouldn't still be wearing the TOS Mirror uniforms.
>>125755097did that happen in picard or something?
>>125755097>>125754536I mean Lore was still alive, more or less, just powered down and dismantled. I wouldn't put it past someone to put him back together again. Maddox to see how he works (he always wanted to get his hands on Data, Lore would be the next best thing) or, hell, S31. Do the whole John Kahn thing. They were worried about the Dominion War and decided to reboot the insane android hoping he'd give them some nasty tips and tricks or some shit.
>>125755097And doing so always creates twins which is not explained or elaborated upon in any way and is only a concept to begin with solely because the poorly written plot required it to be true.
>>125754279I really hope we get more of Ramsey and her team.>>125754146That's it. You can see the ENT drawing has some good blur but then the colors are all wrong. >>125754536Dont forget we see the Crystaline Entity in an upcoming episode and that also worked with Lore. At this point Im pretty convinced it's somehow Lore. Which is a shame because it takes away the surprise, even if it was pretty well set up.>>125754323I think the show wont put too much things on the Holodeck, we already got the season opening scene be holodeck, and Im certain the scenes of Rutherford on a connie are also holodeck scenes.
>>125755218Yes, and like the rest of Picard it was fucking stupid. There is literally ONE (1) good scene in the entirely of Picard and it's when a Borg cube comes out of a wormhole, and even then that's only because it makes a cool sound as it does so.
>>125755312The wrong android died anyway in STP. Fuck the sexy borg adventures, Picard helping Dahj explore the nature of her existence. Instead a bunch of other bullshit happened with paranoid druggies and Romulan Legolas.
>>125755321>I think the show wont put too much things on the HolodeckUnless all the Holodeck shit happens in the same episode. Then again the scene anon referenced just showed people in period costumes and Troi and Crusher's stupid space yoga outfits.
>T'Ana gets extremely feisty when she gets drunkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0uaiCQ6Jwg
>>125755478I do think that the holodeck episode this season is going to have two seperate plots but Im thinking more how much holodeck stuff are they going to fill up the trailer with. I look at it this way, I know the rutherford thing is holodeck, so either the Mirror Universe stuff is on the holodeck or the Borg Cube stuff is also on the holodeck, but it cant be both.
>>125755692It showed the historical costume figures in the main hallways, so it could be a holoducken episode like the second one with Moriarty.
>125754252>HURR DURR RICK MORTYthis image is really getting it's mileage
>>125756907damn, I was sure I picked it
>>125756970I need a black version of this>>125756526I figured that's just people dressing up to go on the Holodeck like in TNG. Did the characters have to dress up for Crisis Point?
>>125756970>>125757588**blank version, whoops
>>125757588They did, given Tendi kept the costume on when she left and that's why they vanished during the openning credits.
>>125751375I find it hard to beleive the show will always have this much detail
Poofy vintage Tawny
>>125758622Was she in a band?
>>125758676Yup. She got into acting fairly recently.
>>125754491I feel like this is going to be some subplot about command division ensigns versus ensigns from other divisions that mingle.
>>125754536Oh, it goes much deeper than that. After his defeat in "Datalore", Lore was rescued and reactivated by the Pakleds.
>>125759172>Lore was rescued and reactivated by the PakledsAnd you know he totally murdered them. I would've liked to have seen it.
>>125759312Or he realized that they would make excellent puppets.

I legit got teary-eyed when Stranger in Paradise played in the latest episode of Lower Decks. Such a sincere, heartfelt moment and a big fuck to anyone who says that this show is a cynical Rick and Morty clone. Here's Brent Spiner's lovely cover of it.https://youtu.be/bRezl-Nf-nI?t=2468

I swear I'm not a fan of the Vengeance design. But I can't help it if it's literally one of the most powerful ships in the game.
>>125761223It's pretty easy to tell the differenceIf someone is cracking Rick and Morty jokes and arguing about the show, they're from /co/ and are necessary counter autism to shippersIf they just abuse /pol/ buzzwords they're from /tv/ and need to go back to their containment

>>125761311True but McMahan would remove Adlibs he didnt approve of. The only references that could truly slip past him are visual ones since he let's his artists have fun with those.
It does suck that the only trek show currently on is marketed toward Gilbert Grape's brother.
>>125761316Any references to rick & morty is a /trek/ tourist and probably one in particular.
>>125761316>How does the game justify JJ designs in the 25th century? Hell how does it justify 31st century ships in the 25th century?Money. Universe-class is stupid expensive to acquire and also one of the biggest if not THE biggest dick in the game.

>>125761447Hey look, he's back. HE is back.
>>125761466I don't know what's funnierThat you're trying at all to deny the similarity when it's part of why the show was greenlit, or that you'd go to the effort of finding one of the only straight-on perspectives in the show to build your "proof"Probably the latter since going to that effort means you know a 3/4 profile would be too similar

When will Mariner go full psycho (again (again))
>>125762354When she'll see Boimler dancing with Jen in EP6.
>>125762354Better question: when will Mariner act like an officer
You remember how Jet Manhaver drowned when Boimler came back? Thought it might have been a jealousy thing but he made the same frown when Mariner declared herself the unofficial leader of Beta Shift. is he up to something?
>>125762399When she's a hologram based on her private logs.
>>125762426I guess he was hoping to score. He kept telling Mariner to get over Boimler. When he realized that it's no use he left them and joined his buddies.
>>125762426He's just a Boimler who's more firm in his belief in rules and the system. He isnt endeared by Mariner like Boimler is and it causes friction. At the same time he probably feels bad they drop him once Boimler is back. Like outside Barb he has few friends.
>>125761934No, they knew as early as season 4 when the Doc went on a mission to the USS Prometheus and met Andy Dick.
>>125761900The most common excuse I've heard is that it would be too much of a power drain, but even when their power problems were at their greatest after they first entered the Delta Quadrant with no hope of resupply they were able to create uniforms for all the Maquis. They are also able to repair and replace uniforms as needed.Plus no matter what the real reason is meta. It's not like the writers and producers were sitting around wringing their hands in frustration because Voyager's power issues were keeping them from updating the uniforms. For whatever reason the powers that be behind the show felt it was their look. Plus it probably worked for them once the uniforms were updated. Gave them a sense of being out of place and step from the rest of Starfleet, which they were.

>>125763056For a given value of reestablished contact. They were able to communicate for a few episodes thanks to an ancient Hirogen network, then Janeway predictably blew it all to hell. It wasn't until season 6 when Barclay figured out how to reestablish permanent contact, albeit not the best resolution and with long delays between comm windows.
>>125763204In what little contact they had before reestablishing contact, I seriously doubt the topic of uniforms came up.
>>125762668>NX class is barely 7ft tall at the rim of the saucerSomehow this feels wrong despite making a lot of sense. Also>TNG era crew digging out the first Enterprise's sister shipIs there context here or is this just some nifty concept art?

>>125763368I honestly think the people are still too big there. And I think it was just a fanfic about the Columbia ending up crashing on a desert planet and geting rediscovered much later.
>>125763237What, you mean that Starfleet would order a uniform change? I don't see why. But they are clearly aware of it. On top of that, yes, it's strange that in all of the intervening years nobody brought it up, if only as a means for the crew to still feel connected to the Alpha Quadrant by matching looks with them. I mean the Doctor can trivially change his own apparel for a proper visual example, though I'm sure they had other examples in the data packets Starfleet sent.

>>125763818We went over this in a previous thread, there's multiple pieces of evidence to indicate replicators won't produce uniforms.
>>125764093What? That Garak can and has made uniforms? They have an entire department just for producing historical garb as needed, they can fucking replicate simple clothing. Unsurprisingly for some it falls under the same category as food. Some people just like the real thing. They feel it's more special, or just better somehow. Go figure. In all their travels I'm sure they could find a world with cheap but effective tailors, if they wanted to. Or just have the holodeck produce a small army of Betsy Rosses and tell them to get to work while Neelix stands behind them with a whip.
>>>/tv/156324723Can someone explain why /co/ gets fairly normal LD threads that keep to themselves but /tv/ gets this schizo spammer?

>>125764706California-class is 535.2 meters long, while Parliament is 641 meters long.
>>125764603If clothing is square then uniforms are still squares, anon, because there is no sense where uniforms fail to still be defined as clothing.
>>125764706In NuTrek every ship has to be gigantic for some reason. In STD they fly around in ships that dwarf the Galaxy class in size and volume from 100 years later.
>>125764706They've been a bit fast and loose with the sizes but we definitely know the Cali-class is smaller than the Parliament.
>>125764800>for some reasonTOS ships were way too small. Someone actually looked at how wide the neck would be on the original Enterprise based on provided figures and it was basically so narrow to the point of being impractical. The ships absolutely need to be larger.
>>125764800The ship sizes fit in with the era in Lower Decks at least. It's fucking ridiculous the Discovery is still bigger than most of the ships shown here in the late 24th century>>125764764>>125764803I get that, what I mean is the Parilament ships look like they should be at least as big as the Galaxy or slightly bigger, I dont know the official Galaxy size out of my head though, Im just talking about based on looking at the 3 ships compared to each other
>>125764765>because there is no sense where uniforms fail to still be defined as clothing.I NEVER SAID THEY DID YOUSTUPIDFUCK
>>125764886I don't think we can trust the official dimensions for the Cali-class, it should probably be much smaller.
>>125764886In the TNG era though science or short range mission classes such as Cheyenne, New Orleans, Akira, Norway etc. were much smaller than the large Galaxy, Nebula and Ambassador classes.California class would appear to be one of those similar small ships but they made it "officially" ginormous.
>>125761443>That much I get, I mean does the story justify itThere's time travel and Mirror universe involved. Hell, you can start your Fed character as a TOS era ensign that gets pulled 200 years into the future at the end of their tutorial. Stands to reason ships from further in the timeline would show up
>>125764920This from the anon who failed understanding context so hard he thought a post claimed Garak was a replicator. No shock you're this idiotic that you either didn't understand what the "all rectangles aren't squares" saying means, or you're so desperately backpedaling you're just making things worse for yourself. Amusing, regardless, but not all that conducive to a decent thread.
>>125764921I think the official dimensions are off (even the one in the new Trek manual has it as being 700+ meters and McMahan went on twitter to say it was a typo). These images come from people using his statements while he was setting the record straight And that the S1 window sized were a bit off as it relates to using it to tell the size. Until word comes out with different info I think I'll have to take these as word. Let me see if I can find the tweets/discussion>>125765032I think they wanted it to be big since it's supposed to be a tow truck with a giant warp core. It at least has a story/use reason for it. Though looking at my own image the Titan is a high level ship and yet smaller than the Galaxy, so no reason the Parilament cant be as well
>>125765111It would make more sense for the California and Parliament to be more in the 300-500 meter range instead of 600+It doesn't have to be JJTrek where ordinary starships are 2 miles long with crews of thousands.
>>125760221This. Becky/Tawny is cute and her slightly bitch voice make me Jack hard.
>>125764921>California class: 532 meters long, height at 121 meters>Galaxy Class: 641 meters long, 145 meters highI'll be damned>>125765032Cali calls ships are meant to be the workhorses of Starfleet. Makes sense you'd want them big to haul what have you around the quadrant
>>125765111Still, the Galaxy was basically known as the largest ship of its time by a pretty wide margin. It honestly makes more sense if the Cali started getting pumped out en masse after the Dominion War when Starfleet had to quickly replace lost ships by just rolling simple but reliable designs off the assembly line, with the Parliament coming a little later after the Cali had provided the necessary stopgap.

>>125767461Funny how unexplored it is, unless Discovery in season 3 is in the Gamma and we dont know (Im sure they also dont know)
>>125768409>Funny how unexplored it isHonestly it's a matter of scale. For the most part they play the science correctly and show just how fucking huge just our one single galaxy is. The Enterprise-D could hit warp 9 point something, which is several hundred times faster than light, and even it would take weeks to cross the entirety of Federation space. Voyager was stuck on pretty much the opposite end of the galaxy from where the Dominion was and they calculated it would take 70+ years to make it back to the edge of Fed territory, and that's if they stayed at maximum warp the entire time with zero issues along the way

The Federation barely won when the Dominion was forced to rely on local resources.Of course the Dominion got its own lucky breaks. Dukat putting the whammy on the Prophets does seem to have (briefly) turned the tide in the war. The Romulans penchant for duplicity nearly caused a row with the Federation over Bajor. This episode seems like the first time we're getting a Mariner/Tendi/Rutherford plot, while Boimler is off on his own.

I'm just going to say this to the hovering creators and writers of the show who are doubtlessly reading these threads: stop making the characters reference older shows. You're bad at it - they're overt, unfunny, and they come off as very unnatural dialogue. The show is funny enough without these hamfisted callbacks, so just do your job and write a good script as if it were any other show. It's Star Trek. We all know it's Star Trek: you don't have to remind us every five minutes.
>>125781222Armus had it coming.
>>125781222fuck you bitchbring on the references especially when they're part of the episodes story
>>125781243Just stop having the characters constantly talk about Picard. Stop treating the other shows like they're shows, either they're characters in a fictional universe or this a metahumor show. Pick one and stop trying to have it both ways, it doesn't work. This show can do references really well, they just go overboard a lot.
>>125781257Star Trek being meta is okay, these legacy characters are like rock stars to these lower deckers.

>>125782030We'll never know. And that's a shame. There's a lot to discuss when it comes to Lower Decks, far more than with Discovery and Picard. I don't care whether they'd hate it or love it, I just want someone to assess this show based on its merits.
>>125782030This guy is allergic to cartoons.
>>125782104>watches Rick and Morty>does voice acting for cartoons
About to watch this week's episodeLast week's episode was pretty awful, especially the doopler plot where a diplomat who magically breaks conservation of matter when embarrassed is being transferred without the crew understanding how to treat him or how his duplication works. The episode before that was the worst episode of the series, having tons of pointless violence on top of an outright idiot plot on top of glorifying criminal animal sanctuaries like the one run by Tiger KingLet's see if they can do any better, it'd be hard to do worse.
I love the cat
>>125782030According to Jay they watched part of one episode, shut it off, and have given it no thought since.
>>125782263I bet he just gave up at the trailer
>>125782270Either way I doubt very much that Mike and Jay would like the show. It's pretty dumb and inconsistent and that would be an endless font of annoyance for them. You think the resident autists get mad about shit like warping in right next to another ship or sensors not existing for the plot to happen? You ain't seen nothin.

>>125782492>pretentiousAll "critics" are pretentious. It takes blood, sweat and tears to actually make something. To critique all you need is a microphone and some egotism.
>>125782522Yes they are, but most media critics these days are also whores for views and don't draw the line on what they review.
>>125782560When it comes to RLM, I think they stated on multiple occasions that animation is not their area of expertise. That being said, they could still talk about Lower Decks.
Very little to pick apart this week because most of the runtime was random violence against the main cast, though to be fair this time it was (mostly) cartoony violence instead of goring and head-eating.Everything about the Pakled story was awful. Everything. It was straight up Rick and Morty. Them even having a home planet with a government makes no sense considering the whole point is that they're roaming thieving nomads. The whole thing with a resistance leader killing the emperor and becoming emperor and then already knowing about the plan (because apparently every pakled on the planet knows the plan despite them all being functionally retarded) was just ridiculous. Also if these pickups are so dangerous why the fuck would they be left to ensigns with no security detail or supervisionIt certainly wasn't as terrible as the last two episodes, but it was pretty boring and stupid.
>>125782680Oh, and for once the Boimler plot didn't blow ass even if it wasn't very funny. It should've taken over the trash collection plot instead of just intersecting right at the end.
Told you they're setting up Boimler to be the captain.
>>125782680>Them even having a home planet with a government makes no sense considering the whole point is that they're roaming thieving nomadsMaybe it's not supposed to make sense. Maybe someone was secretly influencing their civilization for the past twenty years. We'll see I guess.

>>125782680>pakleds have a home planet and central government...what?Wasn't the only reason they weren't being watched like a hawk by the Federation in the first place because they were nomads with no home?Them NOT having a central point of organization or symbolic seat of power to fuck up was literally the one thing that made the idea of them fighting the Federation make any sense

I recently rewatched The Slaver Weapon (which was adapted from a short story in the Known Space series called ‘The Soft Weapon’) and apparently Larry had originally written up an original episode story but none of the Star Trek staff were too happy with it. Roddenberry then noticed the Soft Weapon short and suggested they just adapt that.Oddly the opening exposition dump given by Spock in the episode and the TAS’ canonical status would mean Star Trek as a whole would be an AU of Larry Niven’s setting.

And yet, people still try to force this meme. The show being impossible to project this stuff unto is ptobably why all the grifter channels just stopped reviewing it.
>>125785178I can see Mike secretly watching it but never admitting it. It's probably why they said they would never talk about it. They watched both STD and Picard which are objectively far worse. The episode was passable, because Mariner got humiliated more often than Boimler in this episode. Bringing up Armus is just cringe. This series relies way too much on >'memba this thing from that ST series?to have any lasting appeal.
