>>3699766How dare the Australians do this to meWho the hell saw Kappa Mikey and had the bright idea of doing it again, but inside-out this time?>>3700443They also reblogged furry fan art of the anime boy from someone named LaurentheFox, I have a feeling the intern running the Tumblr just couldn't afford to be discerning

>>3701138I never understood Spongebob humanizations that turn him into a prepubescent. He's so obviously, like, in his late20s/early30s, and that's not even looking at the fact that he's got a job.His vibe is very much circa an age when a Millennial white woman would still unironically say "adulting"
>>3701258Albeit, a very young-looking late20s/early30s, the kind that would let him take a role as a twink in a sketchy porn site
>>3701258Its the vibe he gives that informs those interpretations. Spongebob doesn't act like an adult, even a manchild, in any capacity.
>>3701360He always seemed like a young adult written for a child audience
>>3701360>Its the vibe he gives that informs those interpretationsNot really -- arguably, his vibe is the least adult thing about him>doesn't act like an adult, even a manchildHe absolutely does ... or at least he used to.Look at him in the first 3 seasons (the only ones I consider canon):He asks for a job, has a salary, goes to the supermarket by himself, lives alone, hangs out exclusively with people who also live alone, cleans his own lawn, could afford a car, does racy offensive stand-up comedy (every kid's favorite!), pays for cable TV porn, owns a big library, goes on strike, tries to get into a bar, lived in the wilderness, drinks coffee alone in diners, got arrested multiple times, and his favorite nostalgic childhood TV show is so old that its stars are in a nursing home! And that party he threw, it was so ... adult-like. Sure, it was from an instruction manual, but he was right at home with all of its ideas: adult conversation, fancy finger food, name tags, schedules, lateness. What child is like that?On the other hand ....He goes to school, had a problem with a bully, spends his off-days playing with his two best friends, didn't know what swearing was, did errands for his boss that you would confer to a teenager ....He's a weird mix of child and adult, with adult responsibilities and privileges, but also childish hobbies and pastimes. I'd say he's a weird kind of manchild.>>3701362This explains it.I remember that the reason Spongebob went to boating school in the first place was as a compromise between the network which wanted him more childlike and the staff which wanted him more adult.By nature of his medium, his audience, and the intents of his creators, he has to be both
>>3701258>>3701453>He's so obviously, like, in his late20s/early30s, and that's not even looking at the fact that he's got a job.I always assumed he was like late teens/early 20's. The pilot had him trying to get a job at the Krusty Krab so he's pretty new to the place, he's still trying to get a licence, still close to his parents, and friends with a guy(Patrick) who used to go to college. Also, in a dream of his, his birthday was still in the 80's in an episode that I think was from 2000.Like most cartoons though, it usually does depend on the writer. In some episodes they showed the boating school being even more like a kid's school. A good example of a kid's cartoon character that's explicitly a young adult living alone for the first time would be Rocko's Modern Life.
>>3699766Sauce on the cartoon?
>>3699041How old is that pic Op?
>>3703466Exchange student zero. That screenshot is from the tv movie because there's also a cartoon series with slightly modified designs. See picrel.
>>3703473Not really sure, sorry, anon. It was probably posted, like, 2 years ago, 3 at most
>>3703511The simpsons are shit now so I'm just guessing that is an old fan art.
>>3703666Not necessarily, the old stuff holds up so well that it's still scooping up new fans all the time, such as yours truly. It is such a funny show. Well, at least, was

>>3705476Yeah, in sponge years. But yeah, if that episode's from the early 2000s, then that makes him more like ... 15, actually?

>>3707994>>3707995>>3708019How come 3D animation always likes giving their guys giant noses? Was the main thing turning me off from Barney.
>>3710030In this case I think it's more the directorial style of Sarah Smith (who did Arthur Christmas too), along with having characters with chunky knitwear. It's cute and dorky to me.
>>3710030It's his best feature though. I like big nosed guys in animation
>>3710402Same here! Love big noses in animation -- and to a certain extent, in real life. I like that they're even more of a thing these daysI don't mean Tumblr nose, though, no, I hate Tumblr nose, so essential to that unfortunate SJW look of the 2010s, which is, yeah, going away (slowly; only good thing about the 2020s), but still refuses to die (check the most recent posts on Tumblr for BNHA fan art)Easily the single ugliest art "look" of the internet age, along with late 2000s furry fetish art and late 2000s Western Rule34
>>3710442what is tumblr nose? i've seen people throw that around but never examples of what it is, and I've been visiting tumblr for almost ten years.
i'm glad the algorithm is giving this show some love
>>3710451>what is tumblr nose?It was common for amateur teen Tumblr artists to give their characters extremely red noses as a style choice.
>>3710451Shouldn't have said Tumblr nose, that's something else, >>3712960 explains itI was talking about that weird thing a lotta talentless hack Tumblrites did, drawing charas with noses that went beyond big (like Bruno from Encanto's adorably cartoony beak, or Mike Chilton's handsome honker over here) and just looked like grotesque tumors
>>3712972the thing is you can make non-conventionally attractive features look appealing, they just chose not to for some reason
>>3713006ikr. They seemed to WANT you to be repulsed, no matter what you were into, like they used intuition as a guide by doing the exact opposite of whatever it suggested. They all be like, "fuck beauty standards, people should accept the unconventional," but all they did was further equate "unconventional" with uglyAnd even if the character isn't supposed to be, like, fuckable, that's no excuse, ugly characters can and should still have good designs
>>3703823I'm so fucking jealous

I like Fly.
>>3712024god i havent seen him posted on /co/ in ages
I think he's cute
>>3716681Cute fish>>3716680Now all that's needed is a Breaking Bad crossover
>>3717110He is, it's a shame there's not much fan art of him.
>>3699724Pecan, a character from this aggressively unremarkable webcomic, Colorblind.Sporadically updated, it's been remade after a year-long hiatus, w/ a new artstyle, and now it's ... on hiatus again
>>3699724>>3718567Pecan's kinda the only good thing about it.Not just coz his design's cute: he's the only halfway entertaining person in the entire cast
>>3718945>>3699766Kappa Mikey was better. Less soulless, more memeable

>>3721219>Someone chose this specific date to dump their entire folder instead of spacing it out evenly.Yeah, I could kinda tell. We also almost never get that, either. It happened this one other time some threads ago, but at the time, I thought the poster was a troll (they weren't)Not the best practice, personally. Sparsely populated thread on a slow board, I think the ideal dump situation is to like space it out over a few days so other people have a chance to appreciate the pics and contributeAlso:NEW THREAD: >>3721052NEW THREAD: >>3721052NEW THREAD: >>3721052
