There is an L thread up as well on page 10.
>>3498906Good threadDN boys deserve more love
trying to find the name of this artist, they were incredibly popular back in 2008 and made a ton of fan-art featuring matt, mello and near. reverse image search comes up empty..does anybody here recognize the artist?
>>3502370Was about to ask the same question. I remember the artist had a website that used to update fairly often back then. Sadly the external hard drive where I had all this artist's fanart died. Would like to know what art they're doing nowadays.
>>3502370>>3502394I think this is (the artist we now know as) Puku Okuyama? She did a lot of Death Note stuff under the name of 散々なな拍子, if I read correctly. This is just from googling around as I type this, I've apparently lost my backup of my pre-2010 bookmarks which had the blog link ;_; Still have a few pictures with the original filenames though, which is neat. Matt/Mello remains the best homo pairing 15 years later dammit

Happy birthday to the most underrated trap in animu.
>>3516955>trap>animuget aids
>>3517004What I'm more mad about is calling Mello a trap, he's masculine.
>>3517421>Obata said that, for him, Mello's design (originally Near's) was "more calm and feminine," cope
>>3516955>>3517004>>3518706Mello is feminine but he isn't a trap either, he can sure as hell be drawn as one in fanart tho, and I wish there was more of him crossdressing.
>>3502676>Still have a few pictures with the original filenames thoughCould you please share what you have?
>>3502676>>3520679Share the rare stuff with us anon, Death Note fanart usually dates from 10-12 years ago, and many of the Pixiv's and blogs of these artists don't exist anymore, which sucks because of how much iconic these characters are til this day.
>>3520679>>3520871It's really nothing exciting, I'm sure everyone's seen these many times already. But, for what it's worth (if anything), these are all the actual files from the artists' websites, saved by myself at the time, without a decade's worth of quality-reducing reuploads and etc.
(All this "img2008..." stuff is Puku Okuyama.)
Something I now cannot explain. I have a bunch of pictures which I'd confidently attribute to the same artist as the series of pictures above, but they have this distinctive darkish yellowish colour temperature, and all the pictures I have in this style have 4chan filenames. I vaguely recall these pictures being hosted on their own blog, but that would mean this artist was maintaining two blogs simultaneously, with the only distinction between them being the colouring style. This does not quite feel correct. Can anybody remember what was going on here?
>>3521078>>3521079>>3521086>Dat nostalgic oekaki/tegaki vibeThanks a lot for this anon. As someone who used to consume a lot of Death Note back in 2007-2009, these are really pleasant throwbacks.
>>3521116Thank you! Feels very cosy to go through these again. I might make a thread later for stuff in the tegaki style -- it reminds me really vividly of my early days as a weeb and it seems to have quite sharply vanished in the early 2010s.Anyway, more of >>3521078 >>3521079Does anybody know what happened to this artist? I really liked their colouring style.
I think that's about it, the rest is just scraps and sketches
>>3521117I do remember that style, the artist must have been one of those japanese webring bloggers / oekakiBBS users from the mid 00's. I used to lurk those sites before knowing about pixiv, and this artist's works were pretty popular among reposters, but unfortunately i don't remember the name of the sites that hosted these old blogs in order to -at least- try to dig stuff up on wayback machine or something, and modern image searchers are totally useless when it comes to these. I found pic related in a flickr profile from some random reposter so, yeah.
>>3521139Yeah, they definitely weren't on Pixiv at that point. I assume most of this stuff is just lost forever outside of random personal collections, which is very frustrating. My old bookmarks don't go back this far so I have nothing I can plug into archive.org, and trying to manually go through "The Matt x Mello Webring" or whatever to try to confirm a blog no longer exists would be enormously masochistic. And that presumes the webrings themselves still exist, which they probably don't.
>>3521139>>3521154I sometimes wonder if some of these mid-late 2000s artists ever ask themselves today as adults if there are still people around the world who have their stuff saved and want to know about their current whereabouts, perhaps they were just drawing this for fun when they were teenagers then they might have completely forgotten about it just like how there are hundreds of abandoned YouTube and DeviantArt accounts with cringy shit, but if they became full-time mangakas they could republish their old works in the future, but hey I'm an ignorant gaijin unaware of the background of the average manga artist in Japan is like.
>>3521684>I sometimes wonder if some of these mid-late 2000s artists ever ask themselves today as adults if there are still people around the world who have their stuff saved and want to know about their current whereaboutsObviously, yeah. They most likely know that their art doesn't really disappear. Artists going MIA either grew out of it or just ditched the alias and are doing something different elsewhere, professional level or not. It's hard to imagine a fanartist doing stuff for the same fandom for such a long ass time, they have to get bored at some point eventually.
damn, i rly wish i had this one on higher res
>>3502676This art used to be called Sasakure Sentimental and they used to have a blog they updated everyday with mostly drawings of Mello.
>>3523235Thanks! That's given me some new stuff to search. Do you have any blog links or other artefacts of this very distant era?
At least one fanart site is still up: http://tukiakarinoshita.web.fc2.com/gallery.html
POST MOAR MATT
Are there any old blogs/pixiv accs that are still active? in preference those that make Mello art.
