Post cute boys and handsome men from literature here.Last thread >>3471418Rec list from the older threads: https://pastebin.com/GdMNcey2
LOGH is a book too.
>>3482610has anybody made a gay thing with rosencrantz and gildenstern yet?
>>3482326Im surpriced Aaddtsotu hasnt been brought up in these threads its a very known gay book
>>3482640I remember seeing some cute ship art based on the movie ages ago but I think the artist deleted.>>3482659I read it but I guess it didn't leave much of an impression on me because I can only remember bits and pieces about the story.
>>3482694There isnt much of a plot, its a character study of two chicano teenagers. Mostly SoL with sexuality questioning and family issuesThat being said, it has the best coming out of the closet scene ever writen because it happens in reverse
They better fucking kiss in the last book.
>>3483580I wish there were more /cm/ stories featuring seamen.
Live damn it.
>>3485688Who are they?
>>3485691Nico and Will from Percy Jackson.
>>3485697Are they canon? What's their dynamic like?
>>3485702Nico is a main character throughout most of the two first series (but he first appears in the 3rd or 4th book, I forget which one). Will is a minor character. They interact in Blood of Olympus (obvious sexual tension mostly coming from Nico) and the first book of Trials of Apollo (which is where they are confirmed canon).Angsty dark homo and his healing doctor boyfriend that doesn't put up with his emo bullshit.
>>3485716They are but they don't have that much screentime together unfortunately. They are supposed to have more time in the last book, so will see that's why >>3483560
>>3485688This kinda looks like Kenny and Stan from South Park
>>3486257There's no way Kenny would be taller than Stan with how fucking awful his diet is.
any fanart for The Long Walk, by any chance?
>>3486314there's more, should I post it?
>>3486382yes please and thank you!!
>>3486449ok then :D
>>3486612bless you and your beautiful soul
>>3486626i'm happy to help :)
>>3486628oof that was a lotthat's all i've got
Vampire Hunter D and Elric of Melnibone both have a severe lack of cute fan art.Fan art in general really
anyone enjoy RWRB? i love it
>>3482327I know I posted this pic in another of these threads a few weeks ago but it's my favorite and I have to share
>>3483586Try 'McGlue' by Ottessa Moshfegh
>>3486878>look at me I'm very smartCare to educate us then?
>>3486880Don't encourage it.
>>3486878Look up the last thread, there's only so much /cm/ fanart of literature pre 2000s you know
>>3486878Can you please learn how to properly write English, you ESL mong.
>>3486887Holy shit, I just saw that pic a minute ago.I wonder if the artist of that piece knows that their drawing has been hijacked by a coloring book app.
>>3486790Thanks! The premise looks interesting.
>>3488381I love the whole picture
>>3482333Hey les mis
>>3483586You’ll want to go to /y/ for that
>>3485716Damn last time I read PJ Percy and annabeth were dating
>>3488393Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
>>3482699Don't all the parents act like matchmakers in that one even if they're on the fucking 80's?
>>3488396>Aristotle and Dantenot Virgil and Dante? Sacrilege
>>3488401Wait this is set in the 80s? What the fuck?
>>3488440Yep.Once the parents start to push the boys to get together and confess, the suspension of disbelief kinda goes to hell.
>>3488443Fictional as fuck, especially somewhere in El Paso. Not even Austin or Dallas was that liberal in the 80s.Christ. This is why Chicanos shouldn't write fucking literature.
>>3488444Didn't one of them have parents who were liberal college professors or something?
>>3488395Don't bother. After the Last Olympian, the series went to shit. The fact that any gay shit only happens in like two books and it can be squeezed to 30 pages (and this being liberal with my estimate), doesn't make it worth it to read six books of decreasing quality for some gay scenes between a secondary character and a literal who.
>>3488444What astounds me is that the author is an old fart born in the 50's.
>>3488401The main character's parents do, but it's sorta believable because his lesbian aunt had just died and they felt guilty about how the entire family had pretty much dropped contact with her for being gay. They saw the signs, and they wanted to be supportive this time.
>>3482390As is The Heroic Legend of Arslan, by the same author in fact
>>3486662I'm a new Elric fan. I'm working on it. Here's a nice fanart I found of him in the meantime.
>>3488444Shit, not even LA was that liberal then
>>3488443So you telling me those kids got outed right at the doorstep of the AIDs epidemic of the 90'sAnd that's supposed to be a happy ending?
>>3488444>>3488668Not going to say it was super common but there were supportive parents attending pride marches even in the 70s.
>>3488704Hell, my dad used to say outright that he hated gay people, but after I came out he's actually been trying to change his way of thinking and be supportive. Not all homophobic parents jump the gun and disown their kids. It's made clear throughout the book that both sets of parents love their sons unconditionally, and again the main character's parents were already a bit more open-minded because of his lesbian aunt.It makes me sad to see people who haven't even read the book ripping on it. The author is an old man who spent his entire life in denial about being gay, the book's conclusion is optimistic because he's giving the characters a chance at a life he never got to live. It's a hopeful ending, which is exactly what gay teens (the target demographic) need.
>>3488776Okay but why the 87?
>>3488791It adds to the sense of isolation and struggle both boys would have coming to terms with their sexuality in away that a modern setting wouldn't. The gay rights and visibility movements were only just becoming a thing and that was primarily in big cities.
>>3488776Anon these are Latino parents. Unless they were from Buenos Aires or Quiche Mayan (like my grandparents were) aka one of the few native groups (and even then this doesn't apply to all Quiche) then there's no fucking way that all 4 parents are going to play matchmaker especially not during this >>3488673
>>3488776>>3488931Nevertheless, it's fine, albeit the hint of realism is kinda gone. I'm not saying they have to go through Brokeback Mountain bullshit, but some growing from the parents (don't have to be homophobes just not fully accepting or whatever) would have been nice too.
damen and laurent
>>3488450Trials of Apollo is a bit at least for that. Apollo is pretty openly bi and is open about his attraction to men and at one point spends an odd amount of time admiring a wrestlers loincloth.
I'm still somewhat bitter Nico didn't throw himself at Jason though.
>>3489713Meh. I don't really care for Apollo like I did with Percy and it's not like he is currently dating/banging any men in the series (so it means nothing, it's like Bulat from Akame Ga Kill, okay he is gay, so what? it isn't really explored beyond talking about guys or getting touchy with straights) and don't say the last book will change that because Rick already has the gay interaction quota set with Nico and Will appearing again in the last book.Just saying if you want gay content, go read another book series.
>>3489716>Just saying if you want gay content, go read another book series.Honestly Nico is one of my favourite gay character despite HOO flaws. And I hope he fucks up everyone in the last book.
>>3489722I love the series too, and Nico, but I hate it when people kinda bamboozle other people into this series with the premise of gay character and romance. It tends to make some unhappy fuckers.Other than probably
hand holding
, I am not expecting much from the last book.
Ensan Case's Wingmen
Mary Renault's The Charioteer
Guess the book
>>3490660Lord of the Flies?
>>3490660>>3491185>>3491226In school I always felt weird that I was the only one who realised who obviously gay Jack and Ralph were for each other.
>>3491617at least you're not the only one in general, going from the amount of fanfics and the fact that LoTF has its own Ho Yay page on tv tropesThe funny thing is that Golding said it was unintentional
>>3491653>it was unintentionalMost of the popular stuff are
>>348358620,000 Leagues Under The Sea!
I know Anne Rice has pretty much gone off the rails in her latest books but the first three in the VC series will always be special to me.
>>3493190Does she still go after people who write fanfics about her books? How does she feel about fanart? Probably less bitchy about it?
>>3493260She's still anti fanfic but it seems like she just avoids it now instead of being overtly hostile/litigious. Don't ask, don't tell, I guess.I don't know if she's ever had a problem with fanart but I think she'd be on shakier ground pursuing legal action against it.
Ahhh, finally a thread for me
>>3494847Yeah i'm not reading that shit.
>>3488405Fucking Dante, he was such a fangirl of Virgil he wrote an entire epic adventure on verse about him and his husbando.
>>3493283>>3494917I'd seriously pay good money to see Dante and Vergil's reaction to people shipping them
I wonder where all my Vladimir X Estragon fellas are at.
>>3495013He'd place every single person here in hell.
>>3495080He'd edit Inferno to talk about the 10th circle of Hell, reserved for shippers. Being right below the 9th circle, it is also Satan's toilet.
>>3495169>>3495080I can't wait to do my webcomic which will bastardization his depictions of the afterlife. I hope he places me in the 11th circle.
God fucking damn it, why no damn kiss. Even fucking Piper got a lesbian kiss from her 3 page OC girlfriend.
>>3495169I swear I saw jokes like this back in tumblr 2012, how nostalgic
>>3495779Because guys kissing each other is terrifying apparently. Least he's all but promised a Will Nico couples trip to Tartarus book. Maybe they'll be allowed to chastely peck each other on the cheek in the middle of hell.
>>3495873I'm just going to headcanon thanks to Nico's Catholic upbringing, he doesn't want to have sex until marriage and because of that, kissing Will is probably not happening until he is 18.
>>3495049Is there really any truth to the Estragon = Estrogen theory?
snowbaz from carry on is the otp
>>3495951>Nico's Catholic upbringingI still don't get that. He last went into a church when he was 8 years old. After that he got memory wiped spent 70 years in a limbo casino, before being put into a military boarding school. Nico must have had one persuasive priest to get Catholic guilt from that.
>>3496003>that filenameItalians kiss their in-laws all the time. It's considered haram for you to kiss in front of them with your partner. And since this book was in Apollo's pov, we were never going to see a kiss. Piper being the Cherokee slut she is (seriously HoO backs up my claims) didn't give a shit if her mortal girlfriend kissed in her front of Apollo.
>>3495957>estragon = Estrogen theoryThat would explain why he wanted to hang himself so much...
>>3496260How the fuck am I supposed to know who is he?
>>3496297if you know, you know.
>>3495049FINALLY someone who notices themWhy the fuck is there absolutely no fanart/fiction of them??
>no jooster ITTPathetic desu
>>3497999Trips of truth. But sadly, they are couple of homeless, dirty and lonely beggars with suicide tendencies and weird humor, that's not very cute really; not to mention that "waiting for godot" is actual literature, unlike most books discussed on this thread.
>>3498185>they are couple of homeless, dirty and lonely beggars with suicide tendencies and weird humor, that's not very cute reallyHow is that not cute? Also, it reminds me of “The Twelve Chars” by Ilf and Petrov, and how for some retarded reason i started shipping Ostap Bender and Ippolit MatvejevichThough there is no way in hell someone else from /cm/ has read that book :((
>>3498185What does being "actual" literature have to do with anything? There's fucking Dante and Virgil (the real ones), Moby Dick and Dostoevsky in here.
>>3496260>>3496261>>3496262The Great Gatsby?
>>3496261is that Aloysius the teddy?
Wow this thread is dead.
Can I post ASOIAF stuff here?
>>3504165I don't see why not.
>>3504247Wish I could get into Gatsby stuff, but Nick never tops.
Simon snow is my husbando
>>3506249That's what headcanons are for
>>3493283Fitting that one of the greatest self insert fanfic writers also be subject to a fanfic
Is thread prematurely autosaging again?
>>3515997Welp guess you answered your own question
>>3515997Board is slow and no one contributes, don't worry about shit like that
>>3515355Books, not movies.
I don't know if the post got deleted, or if I accidentally skipped over it, but I was lurking in this thread a while back and someone had recommended The Nightrunner Series by Lynn Flewelling. On that tiny recommendation, I just ended up reading the entire series. Good fucking shit. Thanks a ton, anon. I doubt you'll see this post but I wanted to post just in case you do. I could find very little fan art for the series (sadly common with books) but here's a nice pic of Alec I found. Even though I love the gay pair, somehow Thero is my favorite character. Kind of disappointing he's straight, but at least he got with a stronk warrior woman. I hope she pegs him.
Fun fact: there's a manga adaptation of Don Quixote... for some reason.
>>3519196>he doesn't think there's a difference between the adaption and source materialLegolas isn't meant to be blond.
>>3519197Well you know the Japanese
>>3497999Do you seriously think fujos like to read Waiting for Godot
>>3495080>>3495182>>3493307>>3493296>>3493287>>3493283If all of you fujos had gone past Inferno you’d know Virgil ditches Dante with no ceremoniesIt really sinks the ship desu
>>3518931>I hope she pegs him.Disgusting. Why do all fujos got that fucking fetish now? You reek of straight girl masquerading as a lesbian.
>>3522866I have read the Divine Comedy, I know as a heathen he isn't allowed into Paradise and leaves Dante in Purgatory (but not of his own free will obviously).
>>3522872No, I mean the actual passage when Dante turns his head after talking to Beatrice and Virgil has gone. The last cantos with them together kinda gave me the impression of Virgil being quite fed up with wrangling Dante aroundWell talking about free will it’s explained in the second canto how Virgil was just a messenger of Beatrice praying to Holy Mary who prayed to God who ultimately sent him out. Virgil seemed to grow attached to Dante until them slowly drifting apart after Purgatorio
>>3522874*in PurgatorioSorry for rambling, it’s past 2 AM in my time zone
>>3504247This is surprisingly cute.
>>3522874>Dante had his idol be annoyed by him and abandoning him in his own self insert fanfictiondamn...
>>3495080https://www.princeton.edu/~dante/ebdsa/rh.htmlhttp://danteworlds.laits.utexas.edu/textpopup/inf1101.htmlDante's views on sodomy were much more nuanced than you'd think. Not surprising considering he knew his godfather/teacher, faction leaders, favorite epic poet engaged in it.
