this is the store literally right next door to the mcdonalds. so the upcharge is almost 24 times the real amount
>>
>>19925857
It's 2 dollars worth of preservatives, stabilizing ingredients and you have to pay for the little tray to keep it warm. I'm pretty sure the "egg" is made in a factory and re-hydrated at the location. I'd say on average mcdicks up charges 15x on ingredients and the only reason it was ever cheap (3+years ago) was the meat was the same quality as dog food.

Egg is more labor-intensive to cook than the other ingredients.
>>
>>19925860
>food is more expensive when you buy it from restaurants
huh?
>>
>>19925880
This. The chefs at McDonald's spend years perfecting their egg cooking and rice washing before they're even allowed to think about making a Big Mac.

no its real egg

>>19925880
>>19925896
takes just as long to heat up a frozen patty

>>19925893
i'd gladly pay double or triple but 24 times more? thats no long "restaurant prices" its just a fucking scam
>>
Because they have to pay someone to cook the food for you. Labor costs are usually far more than food costs at most restaurants. Pic related is the average sales & costs for a typical McDonald's franchise. Also other food items (like the burgers/sandwiches) will have lower profit margins than the eggs, while the fries & fountain drinks probably have similar or better margins.

i understand you need to pay your workers
but egg is TWO DOLLARS MORE
an extra patty at mcdonalds is less than a dollar and it takes way longer to grow that cow and put the labor into that
it just makes no sense
>>
>>19926084
>food is cheaper when you cook it yourself
what?
>>
>>19925857
why do we have this retarded thread twice a day? Food costs more at a restaurant than at a supermarket because you're paying their employees, transport costs, rent, ad revenue, CEO bonuses. You aren't paying for the food. You're paying the price it takes to keep the business profitable.
>>
>>19926084
All lot of it comes down to what the customers are willing to pay, and customer's preferences do not have to match what the raw material and labor costs are. Many customers are willing to pay a lot for a cooked egg, and not as much for a cooked beef patty, and a lot less for raw eggs. So fast food places take advantage. Any fast food places that tried to charge the same profit margin on every item would end up with less total sales and be outcompeted by places that recognize that aspect of consumer behavior.
>>
Someone else cooks it for you.
They use equipment that costs more than your trailer to do it.
Don't like it fuck off.

I rarely eat out at restaurants (cooking almost every meal myself), and live comfortably. You are the one with the mcdumpsters app on your phone crying to your internet HUGBOX for validation about $2 eggs on your goyslop.

Are you talking about the item in the COMBO menu which includes a large drink and large fries, and is not in fact just a single burger by itself?

That's right! Don't mind me I am retarded
>>
>>19925880
Yeah it’s this. I fucking hate making the eggs, at least I get my revenge by giving dipshit customers barely-melted bacon that’s akin to frozen shoe leather in both texture and taste

You joke but Dunkin’ Donuts is exactly like that. Only the most senior employees can make sandwiches or normal food. Everyone else is kpcoffee and donuts.

>>
>>19925857
Yeah? want to know the raw cost for the restaurant?

Of course it varies by location as distance from distribution center plays a role in price, but heres my store.

Wrapper- .0099
Muffin- .1654
Cheese- .0715
Butter- Too lazy to factor the math but near nothing
Sausage- .2077
Canadian Bacon- .1908

Of course, though, all price recommendations are set by Deloitte and approved by franchisee.

The "folded egg" is poured out of a carton
The "round egg" is a freshly cracked egg
