Gentlemen, it's officially Oktoberfest! What are you all cooking up and drinking to celebrate? For me, I'm making German potato salad, pork schnitzel, cucumber salad, and drinking some imported German ale.
For me it's Jever.
>>19717859I am a German beer novice and purchased some Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier because I saw it had good reviews and I wanted to get something from Germany. Is the Jever better?
>>19717873Jever is just the complete opposite of Bavarian beer as it's not mild and sweet but dry and very bitter.
>>19717849nice thumbnail dumbass
>>19717891you’re just mad cause you wanted to look at the random whore, retard
Brezel und Obatzda. Both are easy to make and fresh pretzels out of the oven are so good
I want a German wife so much its unreal
I made some pretzels.
>>19718061gross, thread ruined
the only oktoberfest beer that matters
>>19718061Wow I'm really thirsty for milk now I'm not sure why
For me, it's Märzen beer
The only thing that matters on Oktoberfest is pork knuckle.Pork knuckle and saurkraut.
>>19717941I always thought that pretzels would be hard to make, but I may have to investigate further if they're not too diffucult.>>19718042Those look very good anon>>19718111I am very intrigued by the pork knuckle. How would you prepare that?
>>19718119Pretzels are pretty easy, you can make them sweet or salty
I fucking hate Oktoberfest, fuck off drunktards
>>19718119>How would you prepare that?Way I learned it in the restaurant was to boil them first with some carroway, salt, pepper and other spices, then bake them on low for a few hours after salting the skin, and the cranking it up high for the last fifteen to get the crackling.I haven't made them in years and really don't remember all the steps. I gotta call my old head chef.
>>19717849I was in Berlin last week. Was with two prostitutes in one day. One great, one AWFUL. Balanced each other out
>>19718094>>19718213Either samefag or 2 anons competing for the title of "gayest gayfag on earth"
Thoughts on my wurst?
>>19718257Oh, Berlin. What is Berlin? Berlin, as a city, brings nothing but shame to Germany on the international stage. The city’s culinary performance is second-rate. Here, a sausage made from glued-together, meaty odds and ends adorned with ketchup and curry powder is sold as a culinary masterpiece. Hardly any reasonable person would consider a bratwurst with ketchup a recipe, let alone the holy grail of culinary arts. Yet, in their magnanimity, the rest of the republic lets the Berliner keep his delusion, not wanting to amplify his inferiority complex.
>>19718261It was from Hamburg actually
>>19718266nvm then, looks pretty good
>>19717849I love dirndls so much it is unreal
>>19718239this >>19718303 is what a beautiful woman looks like, the other is a disgusting fat hog with yellow nails
>>19718061is that nadine? would literally nuke the entirety of the philippines to have those knockers in my face for 10 minutes
>>19718371Please stop fat shaming that lady that is plump, chubby, fluffy, and plus-sized. I think everyone in /ck/ should start using Person/People First Language. the idea being that putting the “person” before their “illness or disability” helps to decrease stigma. For example “A person with a disability” rather than “A disabled person.”
>>19718393>>19718371she's a literal milk goddess you homos (can you say nigger on /ck/ or will i get banned)
>>19718239>muh trashy whores smelling of beer and urine
if only the alps wasn't now full of rapefugees
>>19717849>tfw no busty dirndl beer drinking braphog gfsuffering
>>19718290LOL
Go full Bavarian breakfast with pretzels, weisswurst, sweet mustard, radishes, and weissbier.
>>19717873great beer
Paulaner or Warsteiner Märzen?
>>19717941This. Obatzda is great.>>19718257I'm not a big fan of the curry sauce in general. Did you get it in a restaurant - if not, you have certainly nailed the restaurant look.>>19718111>>19720119Also very solid.
German here. Oktoberfest is a huge meme.
>>19720249It sounds more like a nice excuse to drink beer and eat greasy food with your friends. I wish I had friends.
>>19717941>>19720181keep in mind that it's not real Obatzda unless you make it in Bavaria. But you may bring the ingredients from the outside world
>>19720252>a nice excuse to drink beer and eat greasy food with your friendsThat's called weekend.
>>19720249full of touriststhe realm oktoberfest is just drinking with the folks on the alm
>>19720249Here in the states, if you live in a moderate-large city there are usually celebrations here. A lot of breweries will have special brews, maybe some german food vendors around. And if there's a German-American society, they usually put on something fun. Some memes can be fun. I've been doing American Oktoberfests for the past few years and always have a good time.
>>19720119do bavarians really make fresh pretzels every morning, that sounds amazing
>>19720739>do bavarians really make fresh pretzels every morningObviously not. If anything people buy them at bakeries or in supermarkets.
>>19720249this, smaller Volksfeste are where it's at
Oktoberfest is a total joke, made for Italian, Japanese, and American tourists. Everything is shit about it.Go buy a good Döner and a pic related, much better than the overpriced bullshit in Munich.t. German
>>19720809Are you homeless, an alcoholic or a frat boy? Nobody else drinks Oettinger.
>>19720817I chose Oettinger because it's just regular, cheap, but very much solid beer, instead of the dumb "Oktoberfest Editions"/Münchener Hofbräu/Paulaner.Maybe could have gone for a mid price regular beer like Warsteiner/Bitburger/or even shitty Becks, then again I'd much rather drink an honest Oettinger/Wicküler than a Becks...
>>19720841Whats wrong with becks?
>>19720841Oettinger is piss. Might as well get Aldi beer in plastic bottles. If you want to have a solid beer without the bullshit, there's 5,0.
>>197208505,0 is literally oettinger you fucking pretentious faggot hahahahahaha how can you fall so hard for a beer companys meme and then go on the internet like you have an opinion thats equal to that of an actual human lmao
>>19720873>Oettinger bought the company that makes it>that makes it literally the sameAnd Beck's and Bud Light are literally the same too since they're also owned by the same brewing company.
>>19717849
>>19720902
>>19720919Why are the Swiss nazis?
>>197208505,0er is trash. Why do people fell for this bullshit? Try Falkenfelser for the best hobo beer. Turmbräu is decent too.
>>19717849>boil bratwurst in shitty beer and onions>grill it>serve with good mustard on a bed of sauerkraut >drink Franziskaner Beer
>>197208505,0 is absolute garbage only fit for festivals.
>>19720980yes?
>>19720252same :(
>>19720919kek
>>19720924Why would you ask such a thing?
>>19718213
Bavarian oafs don't need to apply
>>19720809>D'Wiesn>Pils beerYou gotta drink Märzen
>>19720530American Oktoberfest is fun, it's an excuse to dress up and drink good beer and listen to goofy polka. It's just a big party and it's inherently a white people thing so it's comfy and safe. Near where I grew up there was a town that was based around a giant German beer hall, it was a tiny town but it served its purpose each year as the biggest Oktoberfest around, pretty unique place. >>19721288This was the beer my exchange student always suggested when I went to Stuttgart and I love it but it's $20 for a sixer in the western US, it's not fair
>>19722331Helles is drunken there.
>>19721288Great choice
>>19717849Happy Oktoberfest! America bombed your pipeline and Jews flooded your country with hostile savages! SLAVA UKRAINI!
>>19720809For me its Tegernsee
>>19720841>I chose Oettinger because it's just regular, cheap, but very much solid beer,This is why my grandfather's main beer was Pabst Blue Ribbon.
>>19718393a person of obesity
>>19717873This is all you need
>>19723101Yeah sadly Germany will not be Germany much longer due to you all allowing yourselves to get replaced by migrants.
>>19717849Disgusting larper.
>>19717859Its joever.
>>19717859>>19717873Jever is trash. One of the worst beers in Germany.
>>19718101This is correct.
>>19724623Found the southern baby.
>>19717849I'd eat her fest in October if you catch my drift.
>>19718226They're legal, right?
>>19720902>even the Blacks are better in Germany
>>19717873>Weihenstephaner Hefe WeissbierTastes like a woman with mycosis.>>19717859>For me it's Jever.Me too>>19720252>It sounds more like a nice excuse to drink beer That's not beer, its overpriced plörre. Oktoberfest is the worst gastro trap ever> and eat greasy food it's only grease > with your friends. I wish I had friends. You do not wish to have that friends
>>19720249LIVEACTIONROLEPLAYING
>>19720249you shouldn't see it as a meme, you should see it as a part of your country's history and culture. with the amount of muslims flooding your country, alcohol and oktoberfest will soon be forgotten/banned
>>19726798shut your goofy ass up, manoktoberfest fucking sucks, nothing traditional about itcatch me at the almhütte doing apres ski with the cuties, eating proper german berghütten meals
>>19724971Imagine having your home raided for speaking two words.Seems like something that would happen in NaZi Germany, ironically.>>19717849I live in Denmark but VERY close to the German border so I assume there'll be some events. I'll got get myself a Schnitzel I guess.
>>19718042Those look very nice anon, I'd enjoy eating them and chatting with you over a beer.
>>19726807calm down mohammed
>>19726864mohammeds don't go to the alm, mutt
>>19717849This all reminds me I haven't played Unteralterbach in a while. Time to fill up the snack pantry with Munich treats and beer and get to playing.
>>19727050>Unteralterbachkys you nonce
>>19727063No you
>>19720249Yes, it's a meme. A really good one at that. You're probably brown or some self-hating germoid though. HH
>>19727063If you fuck the old lady at the start you lock yourself out of all CP content. Then you can just play the game for the comedy and to brush up on your German. It's what I did.
>>19727136Nothing is good about that overpriced tourist trap. You can get beer and the same food at every small ass festival.
>>19727184Your small festivals will be destroyed as well. Around here the smaller ones have taken to being "international" where serving curry and kebab is just as German as brat and kraut. Wake up, German man.
It's Aldi time alcoholicbros.
>>19727184Don't lecture the tourists please. Things are perfectly fine the way they are.
I go to the Oktoberfest equivalent in Stuttgart every year (Spring and autumn). Ask me anything.
>>19727543do they have the equivalent to the old Oktoberfest side? I love the rides.
>>19727543>wiesn :/>wasn :o
>>19717849Idk if it's a german food but my local german pub slangs some mean cheese curds
>>19727906Yes they do but not every year. It's a special event every once in a while, like the farming fair that's every 4 years I believe.
>>19727919Wasen is indeed very nice. At least you are still allowed to smoke inside the tents. Beer is 13.60€ per liter this year I believe which is rather expensive. We paid 655€ for a reservation in the tent at the weekend which includes 4 L of beer and a half chicken. A couple of years ago it was 3 beer and a chicken and around 45€. Just as a little extra information.
>>19729419Sorry 655€ for 10 people so 65,50€ each. It was 450€ a couple of years ago for 10 people, so 45€ each.
>>19717849>Oktoberfest EatsThat girl's ass.
Last year my friend held an oktoberfest party and I showed up there with prepped whole piece pork shanks that I finished off in his oven. I wasn't able to find lard tho so I had to make do with tallow. Everybody at the party loved my Schweinhaxe and it was the highlight of the dinner. This year I planned ahead better and have secured 10kg of unprocessed lard cuts. I'll have to render the fat myself and i bought more than I needed, so that in itself should be a fun project. This year I'll show up again, with 4kg of whole piece porkshanks and enough lard to cook into schweinhaxe.
>>19729510You don't need extra fat for that dish. Not even if you make veal shanks.
>>19729750Idk, I followed a recepie I found and it says to cook the pork shanks submerged in lard at 100°C for 4 hours, then drain it all and let the lard drip off while the oven heats up to 250°C, pop them in for a 10-15 minute hot burn to get a nice roasted surface. It was incredibly tasty and went well last year so im sticking with it.
>>19729962Yeah you'd just be comfiting it at that point, which is fine for temperature control, but probably overkill for the actual effort since you aren't preserving them.I'm having an oktoberfest party with my family in a couple weeks and I'll be making pretzels, roast chicken, cucumber salad, and maybe apfelstrudel or kaiserschmarren. I'd like to do schweinhaxe, but my family is too american and gets weirded out by food like that.Last few times I went to Oktoberfest were really enjoyable. Got to exercise my German and chatted with a bunch of locals each day. Just go during the weekdays and treat it more like "I've got four hours to go relax and chat with people," and not "I have 12 hours to get absolutely hammered." Don't go on weekends when all the britbongs and italians and americans on study abroad come out.
>>19717873Try getting some Rothaus, any style. It's basically from the government of Bavaria.
>>19729419A pint of beer when going out near me costs like $6, so to me even a $10-$12 liter is a deal.
>>19729994Rothaus is not from Bavaria but Baden-Württemberg.
>>19730002you're lucky, $7-10 a pint seems like the standard around me. i'm bout to stop tipping altogether.
>>19730079How about just not going to bars? you'd save a lot of money and since no one is going home with a cheapskate, you won't be as depressed as usually would
>>19717873Right now all of Germany's leading breweries are pumping out Oktoberfest / Festbier, so you can't go wrong with Weihenstephaner or Hofbrau's versions of it. I'd get that over anything else due to the freshness and quality right now.
>>19717849It starts on the 25th in Kitchener/Berlin (because... of course it does... ). I'm definitely going to crush a few of my Marzen (I made 10 gallons. I've had two pints since April to see how it's going), and there will definitely be some schnitzel, wurst, and cabbage soup between now and Metric Thanksgiving.
>>19718101I love it, but it sells out immediately here, so I'm usually stuck with Hacker Pshorr... which I also love.
>>19718220Yeah, that's basically it. A little vinegar / soured beer won't hurt neither.
>>19717849bit of this
>>19731689i don't go to bars to get laid like some college kid. i just drink with buddies and we all tend to agree it's a little ridiculous for bartenders to be asking more than a buck to pour a beer.
