There is absolutely zero taste difference in using a mortar and pestle to grind herbs versus using a food processor.
>>
>>19312478
there are microplastics in food processors
>>
>>19312478
Source?
>>
>>19312489
There are probably microplastics in the herbs you're grinding too. We're all fucked, anon. The only thing you can control is how leisurely your life is before the time comes.
>>
>>19312478
Pestle and mortar gives more control over the mashedness of ingredients.

Food processor turns fennel seeds and peppercorns into powder, but sometimes I just want to crack the husks
>>
>>19312489
Those are macro plastics.
>>19312478
It's smaller and easier to wash.
>>
>>19312478
Why would you wanna grind herbs anyway? For wet ingredients you definitely get more flavor out of them by breaking every cell and grinding them to a paste. Mashed garlic doesn't fry the same way as sliced garlic and doesn't integrate the sauce in the same way.
>>
>>19312521
>smaller and easier to wash
This right here. No fucking way am I pulling down that huge electric contraption to grind a bit of herbs. OP is faggot.
>>
>>19312530
Well fuck bro, just wrap them in a paper towel and smash them with a hammer. Any other quality of life upgrade I can help with, Thog? Loincloth sewing lessons perhaps?
>>
Is it even possible to get an food processor made with glass and minimal plastic?
>>
>>19312571
Like, a glass bowl and all metal parts? Probably. I bet it also costs a cool grand.
>>
>spend 30 seconds using food processor then 15 minutes cleaning it

vs.

1 minute using mortar and like 15 seconds rinsing it.

If you're only cooking for 1-3 people-- the mortar makes more sense.
>>
i like using the mortar and pestle.
also what is the best way to get the most out of cardamom pods for things like pudding/tea? sometimes i crush the seeds into fine powder and put it in whatever i'm liquid i'm heating but it seems i don't taste it whereas crushing it and cooking it with the liquid then straining, i can really smell and taste it. not sure if just fluke.
>>
>>19312478
yall ever grind your weed in a mortal and pestle? Gets that shit so fine it is basically kief.
>>
>>19312489
there are microplastics in your dad's dick, which is why we have retards like you in society
>>
You can't use the grinder when the power is out.

>Checkmate atheists
>>
Mortar and pestle is more fun
>>
I like using a mortar and pestle because it is more fun to pound
>>
The heat of the food processor blades burns the herbs.
>>
>>19312478
The difference in taste comes with the salty electricity bill. God damn not even joking.
>>
>>19312518
Maybe you're a rich person who never thought of buying a small or entry level food processor, they're less powerful so they don't turn food into mush in mere seconds, giving you some control.
>>
>>19312603
>15 seconds rinsing it
Are you crazy, things get embedded to the mortar, they're super hard to wash, it's the reason I've stopped using mine
>>
>>19313950
Nta but I have a big granite mortar and pestle, a small ceramic one, food processor, a Bosch universal, and a burr grinder just for spices with a metal bowl.
I'm even debating getting a roller mill for wet pastes/chocolate conching.
Why not just get better tools?
>>
>>19313954
Lol why bother washing it. Only when you smash wet stuff like garlic.
>>
>>19312478
Do you need a hand opening your soylent?
>>
>>19312571
No it is not.
>>
>>19313958
If you have to debate with her what you are allowed to own you might as well get the vasectomy and remove your balls since mentally she clearly already has.
>>
>>19312516
Is it truly over? Should he just give up and go live on the plastic island in the Pacific?
>>
>>19314677
That plastic island will be your backyard in twenty years.

>his molcajete isn’t seasoned
Ngmi
>>
>>19312478

Correct. Which is why you should do it with a mortal and pestle, so you have a more tangible and authentic experience with each dish you cook. A machine can do it - a restaurant can do it - but doing it yourself is the most rewarding aspect of cooking.
>>
>>19314134
debating with himself you fucking illiterate sperg
>>
>>19312478
This is objectively not true, and if you thought about it for more than 3 seconds it would be pretty obvious.

This is like saying there's no difference in cooking a steak in an oven versus over a fire. You must be retarded.
>>
>>19312513
The food processors
>>
I got a really cool motar and pestle carved from cave rock in this easy mode spelunking tour thing we did for an anniversary. It taste better purely on the emotional high of being a cool souvenir.
>>
>>19313937
Here is a precook tip
Drop an ice cube along with herbs/seeds.
This is done in fancy gourmet kitchens.
>>
>>19312478
It's fun.
>>
>>19312478
Who cares it's fun
>>
>>19313954
You don't use soap on a mortar and pestle, retard.
