Is wagyu a meme or am I in for a mouth orgasm?
>>
>>19066957
neither
>>
>>19066957
i've never actually had waygu, but i've had kobe which was good but weird. was like beef with the texture of poached fish. waygu steak is probably similar and i'm sure you'll note the difference in quality from a regular filet, but if you ever see 'waygu burger' or 'waygu hotdog' or waygu processed any way besides being served as a tartare, filet or steak, you can rest assured that it is a meme
>>
>>19066957
More of a mem but not like it's bad or anything.
>>
>>19066957
I bet the marbling on that steak is amazing. The intramuscular fat is what melts down and creates flavour. Did you know you can tell the quality of a steak by its marbling?
>>
>>19066957
it's pretty good, worth the price to try it once. It won't change your life or anything.
>>
I've had wagyu that was supposedly graded "5+" and it was one of the biggest disappointments I've had. I wondered whether I should take some sauce with it and spent the entire meal wishing I did.
>>
>>19067206
What about it wasn't good? Can you describe the texture and flavor? What about the presentation?
>>
>>19066957
Are you eating a steak ant a nice upscale restuarant and paying like $100 for it?
Then you *should* in for a mouth orgasm
Are you buying regular ass Wagyu beef like a hamburger?
Pass
>>
>>19067011
Kobe is a type of wagyu
>>
>>19066957
Anon, meet me in the alley behind, I'll give you an orgasm in your mouth.
>>
>>19067316
I'll be cooking it at home
>>
>>19067105
How could food change your life?
>>
>>19067526
What does the label say? Wagyu is just a type of a cow that naturally has more intra-muscular fat, so just saying Wagyu doesn't really mean much. If it's just a regular steak coming from a Wagyu cow it probably just be similar to a prime steak. If it's something like a highly graded Wagyu steak than it will be very rich and almost melt in your mouth, really delicious but you can't really eat a ton of it because of how much fat there is.
>>
>>19066957
It's a complete meme. You spend several minutes cutting the fat off the steak and wagyu forces you to spend obscene amounts of money to get more fat on the steak that you normally cut off. People who like "good food" are retarded.
>>
>>19067615
what kind of shitty steaks are you buying?

>Is wagyu a meme or am I in for a mouth orgasm?
what are you looking for?
super tender meat?
lots of fat?
not a lot of flavor?
spending a ton of money?

if you answered yes to all of those then A5 is the meat for you. it's the only meat you can cook to well done and it is still tender and juicy.
just don't expect a lot of flavor. filet mignon has more flavor than A5.

I have had real A5 and I have had snake river farms wagyu style steaks and SRF kicks A5 in the ass on flavor.

inb4 your a tastelet, nope A5 lacks flavor.
if it has no flavor adding salt will not help.
salt enhances flavor adding it to A5 makes it taste like salt flavored meat.

I will not buy anymore A5 it's not worth it.
>>
>>19067615
>You spend several minutes cutting the fat off the steak
who in their right mind would do that?
>>
>>19067947
>212$
80% of that steak is just fat, what the fuck man.
>>
>>19068066
>what the fuck man.
that's the point of wagyu and kobe beef, weenis.
>>
>>19066957
I've had some domestic wagyu and several different Japanese A5 wagyus from different prefectures. The A5s beats the domestic hands down. I recommend trying A5 at least once so you can say you had it. Definitely worth it IMO.
>>
>>19066957
It is extremely tender
>>
Why don't they just sell hamburger that is 90% fat to compete with this A5 Fagyu bullshit?
>>
>>19067951
nta but I also do that, fuck the fat
>>
>>19067567
If the food gives you diabeties or you choke on it or have a heart attack or your allergic to it.
>>
>>19066957
Normal filet mignon is better
>>
>>19066957
If you have the cash to get one, go for it. At least you will verify the truth.

Is it weird that I like the taste of picrel more than actual steak?
I mean, I will eat like a teaspoon of this shit straight out of the jar all by itself. It's like crack.
>>
>>19069951
>Beef concentrate with a fuckload of salt, MSG, and artificial flavor chemicals
Wow I wonder why it tastes good?!?!?
>>
>>19067206
You just have busted taste buds retard, that's the reason you are yearning for some corn syrup garbage every time you eat
>>
>>19069925
Why would you even compare them? Filet is lean and flavorless. A5 Wagyu is way too fatty to actually eat more than a couple of small cubes. They are polar opposite, but both retarded.
>>
>>19066957
I am not a steak fat kind of guy, but wagyu fat is definitely tastier than the run of the mill cheap steak you get at the supermarket.

To be honest, A5 is something worth doing once just to be "in" on the meme, but shit like smoked beef ribs mogs the shit out of it. Same with great brisket. You get equivalent fat melt plus it is like a tenth the cost. I'm not talking the Korean shit where it is little bits of meat in between the bones, I'm talking a fucking slab of rib meat off a big ass fucking bone, smoked to perfection and super tender.

I will say the only steak experience in my life I described as perfect was a fillet from hokkaido, perfect crust, perfect pink, incredible flavor from the meat and charcoal, I went to heaven with that meal. A5 ribeyes like in the pic are meh in comparison. Keep in mind I had the "steakhouse experience" with the fillet, which greatly added to the whole thing.

Ground wagyu is 100% a meme, do not buy. Plenty of scams with this shit too, where they just stuff low quality beef in with tons of fat and call it "wagyu".

>>19069888
Walmart does.

>steak so good you have a stroke
>>
>>19067611
people on here eat mayonnaise with a spoon I'm pretty sure I could eat a fatty steak

Wagyu beef bred to have a low fat content

>A5 Wagyu is way too fatty to actually eat more than a couple of small cubes
Depends on the type of A5 desu senpai. A cut like snow beef is definitely that fatty but a cut from something at lower elevation will be much leaner.
>>
>>19070782
The only First countries that cook steaks and hamburgers are.
Japan is a third country

>>
>>19070411
>Why would you even compare them? Filet is lean and flavorless
EXACTLY flavorless that is my point.

A5 is flavorless. in this case fat does NOT equal flavor. man you people are dense.

>>
>>19067947
>not a lot of flavor
how is that possible, I thought fat was where all the flavor is and the filet mignon famously is lacking in flavor compared to a ribeye
>>
>>19066957
Do you like fatty cuts when the fat is properly rendered? If so Wagyu is top tier. Though because of the amount of fat rendered a usual steak size you'd have for one person will probably feed two as Wagyu feels heavier and more filling to eat.
