What are some foods/ingredients you make from scratch and now look down on people for buying from the store premade?
>>
Ramen noodles
Macaroni and cheese
Pizza
Hamburgers
Freedom fries
Soup
Oatmeal
Coffee
Eggs

So something I didn't make from scratch before then? Bread, I guess? My first job out on my own was as a baker so I never really had the opportunity to subsist on supermarket bread since my parents bought proper bread from a proper bread bakery. I'm not sure anything else really comes close for me since I didn't grow up eating jarred tomato sauce, frozen ready meals or boxed dinner kits and what convenience products I did enjoy, like instant noodles, crack cocaine or boxed cake mixes, I still enjoy and seldom feel any need to make my own.
>some of my homemade cakes are tits, but i still like the boxed shit; can't bake a cheesecake to save my life, tho :(

I don't look down on anyone based on food. People just do what they can or are able to. No reason to be diminished.

My self esteem depends on diminishing other people.

pancakes and crepes
They're so fucking easy to make, I don't understand why people buy pancake mix instead of just using the flour they already have on hand

That's a good attitude to have. I secretly judge people for it, but I don't criticize or tell them to do it my way, even anonymously

post ur biscuit recipe
i used to make them all the time when i was a kid (an actual kid, like ages 8-12) but i haven't made any in at least 15 years. i dont even remember following a recipe my mom just showed me how to make em once and that was it
>cup and a half of flour
>teaspoon each baking powder and soda
>stick of cold butter grated into the flour
>salt
>enough milk to make everything stick together
>capful of white vinegar
something like that. we kept the flour in the freezer so the butter melting wasn't a problem

after making a multitude of different things from scratch I found that making certain things yourself:
pies
cakes
is really a waste of time. I make a damn good pie, but Sara lee makes a damn good pie and all I have to do is bake it.

Cakes from a box are perfectly fine making one from scratch to be eaten by a bunch of ravenous gen alphas does not warrant the effort.

but to be fair I do make other things from scratch, but why would I look down on other people for not doing it? seems petty and narcissistic.

the recipe I use (not that other guy) is from the back of the white lily self rising flour. why would I get one off the internet?

Guacamole is better fresh but it's a pain to get fresh avocados

Sour cream is easy to make but you still have to go out and get the cream and wait 24 hours

Ketchup, mayonnaise, peanut butter, butter, pesto are all easy to make but take effort, and extra cleanup

My answer is coffee. Get an espresso machine, get the packs or grinds, get your own milk and sugar, it's so easy to make and costs in the end $1 per cup of coffee instead of whatever you are charged at a cafe.

I was half-joking about the looking down on people part. But I like your approach: try to make it from scratch, and if the result isn't worth the time/effort then buy it premade. This is much more reasonable than just assuming that making something from scratch is a waste of time, or on the other hand that everything not made from scratch is garbage

I used to make tamales from scratch because I was looking for a very specific taste and wanted more meat in them than masa. I would make giant batches and freeze them. then I found a brand at costco that tasted exactly like the ones I made but I didn't have to spend 2 days making them. so I buy that brand (don't remember the name). if they stop carrying it I will go back to making my own.
