why is food so expensive bros?
>>
Thbbbbbppttt

why does he say "if we have sandwiches one night" as if eating sandwiches all day eery day isn't the patrician life style?
>>
I buy in a super cheap store, everything is non-brand products or products near their best by date, I pay $200 and it lasts me for a whole month.
>>
>>17836995
You buy products near their expiry date and you're still eating them a month later?
>>
Who needs that much Mountain Jew and why buy Sprite on top of that?
>>
>>17837005
yes? when a product reaches their best by date doesn't mean they become poison, it's just the date they are allowed to be on the shelves, and that's why they usually end in those stores. now if I was eating a can of sardines that expired 3 years ago then that would be crazy and dangerous.
>>
>>17837008
Seeing the lunchables, I'd guess picky kids.
>>
>>17837018
Oh didn't notice the lunchables until you mentioned them

for me, it's the single can of bush's baked beans near obscured by the family size bags of chips

Now imagine if this family dumped the soft drinks, chips, lunchables, and deli products.

wait wait wait, 6 family size bags of chips, bag of dum-dums, family size container of double stuffed oreos, and two boxes of cereal will not last a week. All they eat are snacks

The Sandwich is the peak of culinary cuisine.
It's where the beginner starts, and the master ends.
You can put literally anything edible between two slices of the right bread, and with the correct sauces you will make it delicious.
You just have to understand flavor profiles, and have imagination most do not.

There are about 5 food items there that I would eat(bread, meat and cheese, cream cheese, baked beans) if you just buy fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables, cheap cuts of meat, bread, and coffee, you can eat healthy and cheap.
>>
>>17837073
I would never give my kids a whole can with every meal, that's 11 teaspoons of sugar in each one at least.
The rest of the stuff in OP photo is literal junk food
>>
>>17836973
It always blows my mind just how different the average shopper's groceries look from my own. I really don't think OP's image is far off from the shit I regularly see people wheeling out of the store. It is always virtually entirely sugar water/soda, junk food and processed, packaged goods, with little to no fresh produce in sight. I really don't understand how people live like this, it physically repulses me.

Mountain Dew 12-pack = 2.99 x 2

Can of Bush's beans = 1.99

40 now

Expensive babybel fishnet baggies = 5.99 x 2
Bob Evans garlic mash potatos = 3.99
Heinz BBQ Sauce = 3.99

60 now

pound of salami or ham = 8.99
pound of swiss or provolone cheese = 8.99
Sara lee white bread made with whole grains = 1.99

Pound chicken breast = 3.99
Large oreos package = 3.99
Box of 12 pop tarts = 3.99

Terrible bait. Nonetheless, we are being robbed via inflation (and have been for a long time). A lot of trends/pressures which undermine purchasing power aren't officially considered to be 'inflation', but in practice they amount to the same thing and wages (especially unskilled) haven't kept pace.
>>
>>17837495
>wages (especially unskilled)
I mean... I don't see the problem here. Raising the minimum wage results in inflation and increasing minimum wage wouldn't benefit me in any way
>>
>>17837459
Imagine being so delusional that you think eating normally is dieting
>>
>>17837473
He's right though. While I might commend you for your disciplined and healthy diet, you're ignoring the fact that the rate of food price increase is a symptom of profound underlying problems (and ignoring an important aspect of quality of life for most people). Furthermore, having a snobbish attitude towards poors is frankly pathetic... It's our failing and corrupt leadership who are deserving of ire.
>>
>>17837473
>that quote
>notably goes to drinking parties and fucks twinks

>>
>>17837536
Only retarded /fit/fags think that's what "eating normally" looks like, and 90% of /fit/fags grew up obese (or more likely still are obese and just looking for inspiration) so they always project and act like anyone who criticizes their diet must be fat and lazy because they're not aware of what healthy living actually looks like aside from eating chicken breast with rice and broccoli for every meal.
>>
>>17837545
>having a snobbish attitude towards poors is frankly pathetic.
Poor people are poor for a reason. They're stupid and don't understand budgeting. They deserve to be euthanized honestly, they are a drain on society
>>
>>17837512
when average people can't afford the fundamentals of life (rent, proper food, commuting) anymore, there's something wrong. when retards pushing around cryptos and bots doing automated trading is the only thing driving up growth and keeping the economy afloat, there's something wrong. if capital is only "invested" in for short term gains instead of for developing industry and creating jobs, there's a problem. if you disenfranchise ordinary people by driving down wages via importing third worlders who just want to leave their shithole and will put up with anything just to stay here, there's something wrong. minimum wages are not inherently wrong, they just need certain conditions to work, e.g. protectionism, border control etc. and if you think it's a good idea to get more people to the point where they are excluded from life (working, participating in social life, starting families, creating something, having their voices heard) by just importing more third worlds to do your dirty work and increase your profits, then you might want to reconsider if there is no problem.
>>
>>17837512
a) No man is an island.
b) I'm not suggesting we keep propping up our 'growth at all costs' cancer-conomy. I'm suggesting that deflationary phases are an important correcting process that should be generally allowed to occur. Stop mass immigration, kick out illegals, stop bailing out irresponsible institutions, stop with frivolous debt spending and self-perpetuating welfare spending, and eventually affordability for the average person will get better. Of course our benevolent leaders don't give a shit about that, they want even more 'useless eaters' who've been conditioned to accept a lower standard of living.

Even moreso then, having scorn for people who couldn't possibly know better is pointless and stupid itself. Blame the corrupt non-poors who subsidize and import those people.

They're a drain on me in exactly the same way walking past a homeless person is a drain on me. I don't want to see them, interact with them, and honestly wish they didn't exist. They bring down my day and ruin my mood.
>>
>>17837005
Volunteering at a food bank has shown me that dates on food are absolute bullshit, outside of things like milk and meat. Even then, as long as they don't smell bad, or the package isn't bulging, they're usually good for a couple days past the sell by point

The one I always laugh at is canned food. Like that shit will survive nuclear war, but they stick a year sell by date on there just so shops will have to order more even if it doesn't sell

You can take a deduction for charity contributions (some limitations apply, we'll assume they don't here). A deduction reduces your taxable income, it's not a dollar for dollar reduction in tax.

Like using the 40% tax rate in the calc, an 18,000 contribution would give a deduction of 40% of 18,000 = 7,200 in tax savings.

There are tax deductions for property taxes, state taxes, mortgage interest, student loans (subject to other rules, limits, etc.)

>>17836973
Why a bag of candy?
Why so much soda?
Why so many chips?
Why so much breakfast food?
Why the lunchables?
This is like how a child buys food, where they just grab whatever looks good to them at the time on the shelf. If you're budgeting, you write down a list of stuff you want to cook for the week, often times things with shared ingredients, and then you buy those ingredients. At least one meal should be pasta, because pasta is cheap as fuck to make. Usually a good way to do this is actually crack open a newspaper and browse through the coupons. Chicken on sale? We're making chicken that week. But you can't rely on stuff just being "on sale," if you buy only chips because they're on sale, you're going to have a bad time because that's not going to provide you the meals you need. You're going to get more bang for your buck buying ingredients and cooking them into meals.
Honestly, not even that much thought has to go into it because once you budget a couple times you get a pretty good feel of what you need to buy each week or so.

My early childhood differed only cause my parents (1) were friends with other parents who were within a few minutes' drive from each other AND had children attending the same school, (2) didn't work max hours, exchanging monetary gain for time w/ kids, (3) no sports, group piano lessons and books from the school and public library.

I will say though 10 years ago I remember my food bill being like $50/week so food prices have definitely risen. Used to be able to get 6 chicken breasts for $10, now only 3 breasts for $10.

Food prices are rising, but it's still not impossible to eat healthy on less than $500/ month.

>But for some reason pain at the pump is supposed to be a metric of how healthy the country is

Outside of NYC, America is a car-dependent nation. The four-door sedan is the symbol of the American middle class and its prioritization of freedom and independence. The price of gas directly influences the bottom line of that fading middle class, and thus is used as a barometer for its health.

There is also the fact that you have to use fuel to make and transport goods. So, the more expensive fuel is, the more expensive everything is going to be.
>>
>>17836973
Stop eating trash. Round here locally produced stuff lately even less than it was in 2020. Anything that had to be shipped or was processed has gone through the roof. A lot of the recent price hikes have been due to food costs. My fellow rural bros demand your local farms sell their shit locally too. Often it just gets sent to the cities because they can make more money. If it wasn't for the Trucker and trailer shortages you wouldn't see much local anything in most cases.

>why is food so expensive bros?

All our food is moved by truck and diesel fuel is now over $5.50 a gallon.

I work for a food distribution company supplying grocery stores, restaurants and convenience stores (that does $2.3 billion per year in business) and got a text Wednesday evening telling me we'd be shut down on Thursday and then on Thursday evening, I got another text saying we'd be shut down on Friday also.

I'll admit I'm kinda worried...

>You lead a miserable and disgusting life
Projecting much? Fatties are the miserable ones. They cope with their mental issues by stuffing their faces with food. Endless procrastination and hedonism that'll be rewarded with health problems down the line. Then comes the real misery. If you'd have foresight, you'd eat and live so that your future self doesn't need to suffer. Your body is a temple and you are shitting in yours. I'm saying this as someone who used to be fat, but is now thinner and feeling better than ever.
>>
>>17837559
Actually eating strict like that is probably preferrable if you live a sedentary lifestyle. You can eat more if you are active and burn the calories. But chicken and broccoli is mighty fine if you just shitpost on 4chan.
>>
>>17840867
Farming and processing are quite asymmetrical in developed countries due to automation. Utilization of agricultural land is very high. Still plenty of truck drivers around as far as I know.

So no, it's not due to lack of work... It's due to many other factors including thoughtlessly increasing population via mass immigration, rampant money printing as you say, increasing costs of basic inputs like fuel and fertilizer, cartels & monopolization, weirdly designed regulations/subsidies incentivizing crop destruction, etc.
>>
>>17841302
They being forced to put of building repairs because of the cost of fuel and the availability of parts for repairs? I was deep diving the food processing fires bs because something didn't seem right. So far 3 of 3 that I dove into have been shipping/distribution companies not processing plants. Take the most recent Saladinos fire in Fresno. News reports said processing plant, little misleading language, they're a distributor they don't make food. I bet this is the case for half the aledged fires.

You literally just spelled it out. You are a fatass and you think that because you have to stop enjoying food in order to get healthy the same holds true for everyone else. You're going from, "I'm a fatass because I look forward to food" to, "everyone who enjoys food must be a fatass".

Kentucky is deceptive. Most of the population isn't heavily urban, so outside of Louisville and Lexington, the black population just doesn't really exist apart from one or two neighbourhoods per town.
Like, it's 7% overall population but up to 20% in the cities.

Fun fact: the tapwater in Flint, Michigan, has been perfectly safe and drinkable for a few years now. Of course, the local population is so distrustful of the authorities now that they assume it's still unsafe, and "muh Flint water" has been the rallying cry for a decade now that people won't drop it.

For some shit maybe, like its cheaper for me to buy a generic $1 bag of frozen veggies than it is to chop and dice shit seperately myself. She is just a lazy ham planet.

Real people on the struggle bus eat rice and beans with maybe some hot sauce on christmas

it's called addiction, i have an relative who would get those giant big gulps of coke at every restaurant and get 4-5 full refills while eating, ususally "one for the road" too. that's like minimum 2k calories of pure hfcs and sugar. some people just don't even care.

I buy mostly premade stuff because I prefer not having to do the work but I'm not dumb enough to say it ends up cheaper
>>

>1 tub of instant mash granules
>1 kg dried pasta
>2 kg rice
>1 loaf of bread

>1kg fresh carrots
>1kg onions
>2.5kg potatoes
>6 tomatoes

I agree with you completely. Most people would make something basic like a hot dog, then slap ketchy and musty on it, or not because they need 'something quick and easy' so they can do work. These people will never understand the pleasure of cooking off a hot dog in beer then topping it with mustard, olives, sauerkraut and relish because they don't have the IQ or understanding that you can enjoy everything in life.

These same people don't marinate fried chicken in buttermilk overnight then brine it.
These people don't know what asiago, romano or bleu cheese taste like.
These people dont know the difference between parsley varieties

Etc.

Unless they live in a shithole they can drink their tap water although in my experience people like this rarely do.

You'd need at least four limes to use a half a day to stave off scurvy. The up side is that you'd only need to buy three the next week.

you can get 5 gallon refill of water for like a dollar where i am. (i buy from the store cause the tap is bad for coffee).
and the tap is far from toxic, its just a bit unpleasant due to being a bit hard.

>cheaper to buy pre-made food

moved into a new apartment last week, lived on frozen dinners/junk food while I was waiting for my new kitchen supplies to arrive (new pots and stuff like that)
went grocery shopping today, bought food for a week, literally spent like half the money I spent last week and it wasn't nothing fancy either;
rice, beans, chicken, vegetables, some minced beef/pork, spices
these people are so full of bullshit
