>Mac in chili=not a chili
>Chili in Mac & Cheese=not “Mac & Cheese”

It’s hamburger helper and cooklet tier.

putting beans in your macaroni and cheese is fucking weird
>>
>>17276122
why? you don't like beans?
>>
>>17276129
nah I like beans, just not with mac n cheese
>>
>>17276055
I mean, it is a cooklet meal, but it's still fantastic.
When I was a wee 4-5 year old boy, my parents were too busy being stoned or fucking to take care of me, so I had to learn to cook real soon. First thing I ever made myself was kraft dinner. But then I remembered how my father would dump a can of chili with beans in it after it's done, so I did that. I had caught on to reading super fast, so I could follow instructions.
And so, the first meal I ever made myself was chilimac, and it was delicious. Whenever I feel down or hopeless, I remember that day and how I fed myself regardless of how young I was.

And so I make kraft dinner with a can of chili with beans.
>>

Love American poverty food. It's actually brilliant and beautiful. I was always taught it only needed meat, preserved tomatoes, noodles, onions, paprika, and garlic if you have some.
>>
>>17276640
Not that anon but I grew up on goulash. I didn't realize how poor we were til I was older, and the thing that really bothers my mom nowadays is when I criticize her cooking. I doubt she even added paprika to her goulash, and she always used jarred garlic. It's not that fucking hard to chop a clove, shit drives me nuts cause she still uses the easy way out (this goes with anything) and then gets upset when I don't want to eat her shit. Though canned tomatoes > fresh 10/12 times.
>>
>>17276068
>take chili
>add it to macaroni and cheese
>you now have chili in your macaroni and cheese, hence chili mac and cheese

Jesus, I bet you're the kind of person who will debate whether chili should have beans in it for hours on end.
>>
>>17276055
why the fuck are you eating mac and cheese past the age of 12
>>
>>17277100
>get drunk
>want to put limited effort into cooking and have leftovers for hangovers the next day
>>
>>17276156
Just dont put too much in retart
>>
>>17277130

Today's poor seem to subsist on expensive and unfilling prepacked processed crap. It didn't used to be like this, poor families used to know how to stretch a dollar and make food at home even if the ingredients or recipes weren't the best.

In switzerland we eat „G‘hacltes mit hörnli“

1 lb// 400g ground beef

1 carrot, peeled and finely diced

2 medium celery sticks, finely diced

1 medium onion, finely diced

1 cup // 250mL red wine

1 cup// 250mL beef stock

3 tablespoons tomato puree

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon dried thyme

salt and pepper to taste

1 lb// 450 grams macaroni

2 cups//400 grams apple sauce

Saute the beef, onions, carrot, celery, and carrot together until the beef is browned and the onions are transparent, about 5-7 minutes. Add in the wine, stock, tomato puree, paprika, and thyme to the pan. Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes, or until all the vegetables are soft. Add salt and pepper to taste.

In a separate pot, boil water with dash of salt and prepare the macaroni according to the package. Drain the macaroni and portion into bowls.

Spoon the beef mixture on top of the macaroni.

Serve with apple sauce.

Optional: Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of the beef sauce.

Bro its crazy seeing this thread because I just moved into my apartment last week and haven't gotten paid yet so I made some ghetto poor man's foods.

Ghetto Goulash:
>1 lb beef (buy a 3 lb tube and cut it into thirds, saves money)
>Half bag macaroni
>1 jar red peppers from dollar tree
>pinch garlic salt
>pinch paprika
>pinch black pepper
>pinch onion powder
>1 can tomato sauce

Serves 4

Also made what I called hungarian spam and eggs, recipe is pic related, pretty good
>>
>>17276961
What kind of ungrateful fucker refuses to eat a meal someone else prepared for you--especially if that person is your parent? Eat the food you piece of shit.
>>
>>17276055

>Chili mac and cheese, based or cringe cooklet meal?
If it tastes good and enjoy it, it's based
if not, it's based anyway because at least you tried
>>
>>17276055
That's be chill, beans, macaroni, and cheese. Beans are not a component of chili, but rather an addition, so be sure to call them out.
>>
>>17280491
hello retarded texan
>>
>>17276094
So what in your view is a based cooklet meal?
Let me guess. Shakshuka, because it makes you feel like a man or something lmfao you incel
You will never be working class
>>
got me some velveeta shells and cheese and a can of wolf chili from family dollar, wish me luck bros.

I like chili.
I like pasta.
I like cheese.
I won't apologize for any of it just because it's not on the menu of a 3 star hoity-toity establishment.
>>
>>17276055
i once cooked chili mac for 900 people in a large industrial vat. in jail. it was one of the more favorite meals.
>>
>>17280354
Only on the side
>>
>>17276055
I never had it growing up but I can only imagine it would ruin both dishes.
>>
>>17277380
The unfilling prepared processed crap is cheaper than what old school homeless people did.

>b-b-but this graph i took shopping at safeway sa-
Shut the fuck up about middle class groceries you petulant blog writer. Poor people don't shop there. Poor people shop at the discount grocers where everything's two days from expired and you can buy an entire BOX of tortillas for $2.79 and it stinks like rotting shit from all the vegetables that don't get trashed. Your price comparisons only work when you consider that the modern supermarket is merely the first partaker in a long chain of markdowns straight to the bottomless pits of Food Hell. Poor people don't shop there.
>>
>>17282474
I went to walmart for the first time ever because I was looking for a super specific floor sweeper that I couldn't find anywhere and it actually had pretty quality food and the prices are crazy low
How do they do it? Is that where poors shop?
>>
>>17276055
10/10 under-the-influence food
won't hate on it, but i never mix the two since chili is good on its own and macaroni just needs salt and cheese and we're in business.
>>
I bought a few more cans of chili since they were on sale. This is definitely going to be part of my lazy meal schedule now. Thanks bros.
