Based. This is my go-to ramen lunch. It's easy to make, absolutely stuffed to the gills with flavor, and doesn't take a lot of time. There's very little veggie involved, so make sure to have a healthy dinner tonight.Broth:1.25 cups water1/4 tsp hondashi*2 tsp mirin**1 tsp dark soy sauce (koikuchi shoyu)1 tsp light soy sauce (utsukushi shoyu)***1 green onion, sliced1 can sardines, mackeral, or herring1 bundle Hakubaku organic ramen****Combine broth ingredients in a small pot. Bring to a simmer.Meanwhile, boil a pot of water and cook ramen to package directions. When the noodles are nearly finished, add the green onion and fish to the simmering brother.Strain the noodles and add to a large bowl. Pour the soup on top. Serve and eat piping hot!* Substitute fish sauce or MSG** Substitute 2 tsp rice wine and 3/4 tsp sugar*** Substitute regular soy sauce is fine**** https://ii.worldmarket.com/fcgi-bin/iipsrv.fcgi?FIF=/images/worldmarket/source/22768_XXX_v1.tif&wid=480&cvt=jpeg

>>17280383They're pretty good and high quality. Better than Bela's and Santo Amaro's, which I see as their main competitors. Nuri's are still better than all three though. If you can, try Trata's. Product of Greece and they're like the half way point between King Oscars and Spanish / Portuguese sardines. Not too small and mushy like King Oscars sometimes are, but not so huge that there's only three per tin. Still have the crunchy spine that any patrician will love. Also, the Matiz tined octopus is not worth the price, I wouldn't bother with it.

Got into canned sardines and holy shit UK has crappy selection which is bonkers because we're an island, only ones I can find in store are store brands or John West which aren't bad and really cheap but just OK. Any bongs recommend good brands to get that aren't too pricey?

I love deenz and kipper snacks, but pic related is also delicious and very similar, but is substantially less expensive in my habitat (NC).I warm them in a pan just a bit, then put them on a slice of warmed bread (winter rules). The oil soaks into the bread and it is awesome.

>>17328479You'll have to try it and report back to us
>>17328558In my opinion, naan is the most overrated indian food item. It's less healthy than pita but I like pita more; and rice is already a good starch to match with curries, etc. And obviously you dont need bread along with a rice dish like biryani, etc.Whenever I get indian food with my friends they always excitedly get naan, and I honestly cannot understand why. Compared to the rest of the food on the table it's rather bland, too. Indian food has so many spices and naan is so boring.Anyway I love canned sardines.
>>17330418You soak up the sauces and juices in the naan desu, but either way, based post
>>17330430Yeah, I know that's what it's for. Roti is better for that. The sauces are really strong flavored and overpower whatever "taste" there is in naan, making the taste of naan useless. If you're going to have a bread that takes on the flavor of your sauce, you might as well have the bread be on the healthier side, since you're eating it for its texture/substance, not its taste. (Again, because the sauce hogs the taste.)Roti is the same thing as naan but healthier. I'd also take pita, a tortilla, whole wheat bread, or rice for the same purposes. Naan is the pinnacle of empty calories.
How many cans should I have in my collection at any given time?

>>17330453Thanks for the reminder, my stash is getting low.
Finally got memed by you fucks and got a dozen of these from Amazon. I'll probably try OP's recipe and the avocado toast one to start
thinking about wrapping up a deen in each of these bad boys...sprats in a blanketthoughts?
>>17330507It's just so crazy it might work...
>>17330507A daring synthesis
>>17330490>Amazon NGMI. All food on Amazon is rejects, expired, shit that fell in the shipping container and was swept up later, pallets that got lost and were left in the sun for weeks.
>>17329798>I dont want retards eating my tuna either, but thats fine since they dont sell it in grocery stores.
>>17330507it's probably going to be pretty good. Maybe add some sauteed leeks or onion too under the deen for extra aroma
i am eating pic related right this second, straight out the can at my desk waging, no crackers or sauces
>>17330637Where should I get them from then? Local groceries don't have brisling deenz
>>17330705The virgin recipe followerThe chad from the can eater
>>17274294bagel with cream cheese and deenz on top
>>17331183sounds yummy desu!!!!!!!
Made three versions of stargazy macaroni and deenz. Left is a vintage Polish King Oscar.
Here in the UK, where is the best place to get canned deenz?
>>17331549Looks good, recipe?
>>17331622Mostly standard mac and cheese. Flour fried in butter, add milk and simmer for a bit, salt, a couple of handfulls grated cheese stirred in, cooked macaroni stirred in, put in baking dish, top with more grated cheese, poke in deenz tail first, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top, bake for a bit.
>>17330507Have you tried it, or are you too scared to open the package?
>>17330438I feel like you're confusing naan and roti. Roti are unleavened, like flour tortillas. Naan are basically the same as pita, flat, but with some body to them. How tf are you "soaking up" anything with a fucking roti? >it's not healthyI'm not 400 pounds I could care less what's "healthy">it's tasteless I dunno I think it tastes fine. Whatever naan I buy have a bit more of a "buttery" taste than pita which I enjoy.
>>17327785this is a worksafe board anon
I went with deenz on eggs .
>>17333235YES>>17331549YES>>17325440YESSSSSSSSgod i fucking love deenz i LOVE them
for the deenz enthusiasts.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlORfF81ZHM&ab_channel=RecurveNinja
>>17333527I love this song. I sing it quietly in the supermarket while deciding on my deenz for the week, and attract admiring looks from many single mothers.
>>17318913Hahahaha holy shit you are autistic
>>17330745ignore that dumbass. Amazon stuff IS sometimes sus but that's true of any business. The difference is no one is reading the reviews on Walmart
Last time I got drunk I ate some deenz, I woke up because I vomited in bed covered in half-chewed deenz. The stench was unbearable. Really made me reconsider some life choices
>>17332196Well I dont soak up with the roti, I just coat it in sauce. Works for me.Naan tastes good on its own but when it's covered in sauce you cant really taste it so the buttery taste is effectively tasteless. I'm trying to keep my arteries clear so I dont want to eat a bunch of extra butter I cant even taste. I hope this clears up my position a bit.
>>17334372Why did you only half chew your deenz?
>threads been up for nearly 2 weeks based

Just had some Season brand deenz for the first time. Costco had a good deal on them. Overall a perfectly good but not mindblowing fish. Would be a good substitute for light tuna. I had the boneless and skinless however, which is generally not my preference. They also had the easy to peel foil-like lid, which I dislike as it feels much less ceremonious than opening a traditional can.>>17330507The mouthful of sardines guy did it a while back
>>17330507>>17335712So you just wrap each roll 'round a deen & back like normal? This is my next project.Wish me luck, lads.
>>17335799*bake like normal?
Just had my first can of deens today. Beach Cliff sprats in soybean oil. Put it over white rice with some sriracha, pretty yummy. Am I not truly living until I try oscars? The mediterranean sounds kinda good.
>>17336037try K.O deenz in olive oil, the med style k.o deenz i had werent that nice, desu
>>17336037Hopefully your Oscar's Med will be better than my Chicken of the Sea "Mediterranean" style was: it was packed in soybean oil! They may as well have called it Malay style.
>>17336037IMO King Oscar's is only really notable for being the best quality sardines that are widely available at retail. They're certainly not the end-all-be-all of canned seafood or anything, but they're a classic option that you can't go wrong with. What I would mention though is that King Oscar's sardines are all very soft; you can easily tear or squish them with no real effort. I usually prefer firmer fish, but it's not a matter of quality, just personal preference.Like the other anon said, deenz in olive oil is a classic starting point. King Oscar offers two varieties, one with extra small fish, which are typically prized over larger sardines - look out for the cans with gold/yellow on the wrapper that say "cross-pack" (pic related). My personal favorite of the flavored offerings is the zesty tomato sauce.
>>17333527deens are now my favorite drinking food. i enjoy oily foods when i drink and this is PERFECT. Whatelse do you guys eat when drunk?
Where do you fellas buy your deenz? My grocery stores have some decent options but none in tomato sauce, which I really like
Good evening I love fish>>17335712This looks so fucking tasty, jesus christ almighty>>17336037I personally like the Mediterranean but I recognize it's a bit polarizing. Try it out, it's not like they're expensive. Yet another of the myriad benefits of eating deenz!>>17336470Supermarket, japanese grocer as well
>>17330507>>17330666>>17335712Like a mini sardine pie
